Ever heard about the Conservation of energy? Oh, I know about that, lol, I meant something else. And as stated earlier, for me, at least, fate is more mental than physical. And you can't predict anything that is mental, ever.
  2. Umm.. There's only two in Virgina atm, one in Suffolk (so that might be it) and then one at Va Beach, near the Ampitheatrte. (sp?) God I hate being so close to it, whenever there's a Jonas Brother's concert we get 50 million little girlds comiung in who all want "cheezy" quesadillas with extra cheese. And they all pronounce the Napolean Dynomite Quesadilla way, then alfaugh thinking its funny. "Concrete Playground" 'I remember when I couldn't swing from monkey bar, to monkey bar, And I remember when I was afraid to jump, From the top of the castle, And I can't fathom, What I'd give, To go back and see again, All the places, and faces, That I've found in my way around. And then I saw you, Now I realized, And as I fell from the monkey bars of grace, Scraped my shins on the conrete slabs, of fate. And as I picked myself up, I realized, that without you I lost all hope, With this pain I just couldn't cope, Couldn't regain my ego, So I left like so long ago. You messed me up, You pushed me off the swing, You did it yet so innocently. And now I don't know where to go, And this world is closing in I can't breathe, And I've fallen on my knees, The wind knocked outta me, When I jumped when I should have walked, And I fell when I should have caught Myself. (myself.) And as I fell from the monkey bars of grace, Scraped my shins on the conrete slabs, of fate. And as I picked myself up, I realized, that without you I lost all hope, With this pain I just couldn't cope, Couldn't regain my ego, So I left like so long ago. And in reality, There is no grasp on you and me, There is no grass, to catch your fall, You passed it up, when you had it all, So if you try and realize, That after all, til the day you die, In order to fall you have to be somewhere first. Not on this concrete of hurt. And as I fell from the monkey bars of grace, Scraped my shins on the conrete slabs, of fate. And as I picked myself up, I realized, that without you I lost all hope, With this pain I just couldn't cope, Couldn't regain my ego, So I left like so long ago. And as I picked myself up, I realized, that without you I lost all hope, With this pain I just couldn't cope, Couldn't regain my ego, So I left like so long ago.' "Hope" "If giving up, is giving in, Then is resisting a sin? If the truth will set you free, Then why are you imprisoning me? I used to read books for fun, Now all I can do is choke on the fact, That it's all come undone. Books and music set me free, Now we all join in burning them, Away, from our lives. Too scared to stand up and fight, And lose what we never actually had. Hope, like the sun of new day, Living life a different way, We fight back, So we can remember this time, Tell our children, if we live, That there's hope in a new day. It's raining, I'll be your umbrella, It's so cold, I'll be your jacket, But if we let them win, We'll only have lived a lie. A lie with only enough truth, Like a cake with only enough sugar, To be called sweet, We sow what we reap. Hope, like the sun of new day, Living life a different way, We fight back, So we can remember this time, Tell our children, if we live, That there's hope in a new day. Hope, every day anew, But each week has a Monday, too. For every new life given, two more Are enslaved, and it's hard to see the Hope of a new day, If you're blind from rage. Hope, like the sun of new day, Living life a different way, We fight back, So we can remember this time, Tell our children, if we live, That there's hope in a new day. Hope, like the sun of new day, Living life a different way, We fight back, So we can remember this time, Tell our children, if we live, That there's hope in a new day. Where is hope if the world is turning black? All of us facing heart attacks, No one can hope, if no one lives, I grasp reality, and then give in." "The End of War" "The fighting is over, The blood's been spilled, The wounds we'll heal, We killed the killed, We clean up the ashes, Of our own desires, Kill off the sections, Of hate we admire. Now that you're gone, there is no more war, Now that you're gone, we can breathe again, Now that we're alone, happiness can begin, But if we have nothing to fight for, Then we have nothing to live for, So then, just bring on the war. Civilians murdered ruthlessly, Death-capitations as far as I can see, Was this the meaning of life? Take out our anger, pull out knife, And slice off the artery of free thinking, Chemo the cancer of human tinkering, Follow orders, the dead ask the questions, Jump off a bridge, the abyss is coming. Now that you're gone, there is no more war, Now that you're gone, we can breathe again, Now that we're alone, happiness can begin, But if we have nothing to fight for, Then we have nothing to live for, So then, just bring on the war. The dust fades, The smoke clears, My whole life, Was just a smear on the windshield of you, The bullets won't come back, The lives we can't fight back, The sound of silence is deafening, Is the war really over? Can this war, really be over? Now that you're gone, there is no more war, Now that you're gone, we can breathe again, Now that we're alone, happiness can begin, But if we have nothing to fight for, Then we have nothing to live for, So then, just bring on the war. Now that you're gone, the sun rises and falls again, Now that you're gone, breathing, I won't feel again, Now that we're alone, we can't even sing, We have nothing to fight for, We have nothing to live for, Were you really the end of war? For the price of blood, Is everything we loved, For the reckoning, Is coming, For the choice was ours, The hours passed, we lost, We gave up On what we could become. We are the only ones, we're fighting, We're dying, and still, You were the end of the war." Those were some songs I wrote, plus I wrote some raps as a joke for my friends.
  3. You know that cheap [wagon] just wanted a beanie right? I woulda said '[bleep] you' and ran into some wodds or some [cabbage]. Really though,I don't have uniforms, but they can;t enforce anything outside school grounds, at all.

I'm in regular physics and I knew what he was talking about. One problem: I know, at least for me, when I speak about fate or others, it's more mental than physical. If you know what I mean, 'oh it was fate that made us meet' no physics involved in that. And also, what about the creation of new objects?
  5. [hide=] That's probably why I'm not a religious person. I need evidence and facts in order to believe something. (religious texts don't cut it for me) I need for things to add up and make sense for me to believe them, that's just the kind of person I am. Also: Has it occurred to anyone else that the Judeo-Christian God (and Jesus) could easily be explained by aliens? Moses on Mt. Sinai and all other accounts of a voice from the heavens - Loudspeakers from spaceships Transfiguration/Angels/Annunciation - Star wars style hologram communications with Moses/Abraham/Whoever, Jesus took off his human "disguise" for the actual transfiguring/glowing part Resurrection/Lazarus/All related healings - Nanotechnology Water into wine/Feeding of the 4000 (or 5000?) - Matter replication Walking on water/Parting of the Red Sea - Tractor beams? :P Speaking in tongues (Pentecost, was it?) - Farscape style translator-microbes Christmas Star - A spaceship..duh :P Immaculate Conception - Mary was taken into the ship and artificially inseminated (Could also result in the dreams Joseph and Mary had about what to name their kid, for Joseph not to stone Mary, etc.) I do believe I've made a major breakthrough in religion/theology here. [/hide] Omg!! How'd you know! I've been waiting for someone to figure this out!!!   Well, what I meant was, people in general, tend to throw around the word logic, but not explain it. Logic can be anything, you can't say that logically, the earth is flat, because if it was round we'd all fall off. Thats the kind of logic people are using, they just throw out "logic" and tell everyone to shut up. God is a logical God, it may not be the logic you're looking for,but it's there. And if you're genuinely questioning, and you really want to get to know him, but just aren't sure, he'll show you. There was this story in the Bible of a guy who needed to make sure God was talking to him. He said that if God was, that hed lay a sponge on the ground, and the sponge would be wet but the ground dry. He went to bed, woke up, and the ground was wet and the sponge dry, he still wasn't sure, so he reversed it - the ground was wet and the spong was dry. If you REALLY want the 'empiracle' evidence, then look for it. It's all around you, you guys just don't want to see it. In other news: This guy in my class is a scientologist.

  7. In what way would ending the war help? And McCain wants to end it, but only after Iraq is safe. You guys have to realize, Conservatives don't *like* the war, but we think that it's NECESSARY. Everyone hates cleaning the bathroom, nut it needs to be done. Dizzle, we've pretty much always had a deficit, I mean, some presidents get rid of it, but then the next one brings it back. Why everyone focuses on Bush I have no idea. Also, how much do you think Obama's Health Care plan is gonna be? And Obama's policiy of redistributing the wealth won't really help the economy either. But when you get down to it, neither McCain nor Obama will be able to bring the economy back to the way it was in the next 4 years. Maybe 5 or 6, but not four.
  8. So is Bush, and he won twice.
  9. If you really wanted to be conviced, you'd be already. It's our fault we're going to hell, not his. (If you're nhot saved, that is) and I'm not sure why he created it, but I know hundreds of people who do know why, I just forgot the reason. He sent his Son to earth, because when man sinned, He wanted something to bridge the gap from Heaven to Earth. And logic has absolutley nothing to do with it.
  10. I don't think there's many people who deny a man called Jesus existed. It's the miracles and the whole "son of God" or "prophet" thing some people object to. Good, because if everyone agrees that a man called Jesus existed then I bring in this point. Jesus must have either been lying, mad or who he said he is. Now from what he was saying throughout the Bible, we can tell that he was, infact, not lying. From this we can also realise that he is not mad, as he did not act like a madman (even though he did throw over the tables in the church, but so would just about any other sane Christian.) This leads me to believe that he must be the 3rd option, and is who he said he is. I'm a Christian, but there's a preoblem with that statement. You can use it for Darwin, he wasn't mad, and he wasn't, to his knowledge, lying, so evolution must be real. Even though I don't think it is, that staement can backfire on you in so many ways. A man alone on an island looking for the meaning of life? Sounds pretty crazy to me :P . Same to me, but he wasn't clinically insane, I think. That doesn't mean his theories were right though.

  12. Well, I think McCain still has a chance, simply because of Obama and ACORN's voter fraud in 17 (I think its 17) different states. Most people don't know about it though.
  13. Well yea, even Islam says Jesus was alive. Michel555555 - Your points don't really make any sense, any of em.
  14. Just google "Proof of sun standingstill" and they're all the same story.

Until your claim is effectively proven, the burden of proof remains on your side. This is how the burden of proof works. The burden of proof is a well defined and well accepted fallacy. It should also be noted that empirical evidence is not used to prove the non-existence of something. Empirical evidence is based on observation, and thus it would be impossible to observe something which does not exist! Saruman44 wrote: Also, how is "origin of spiecies" then any different from the Bible? As in you're saying the Bible is a theory, well, so is Evolution, no matter what way you spin it. Abiogenesis does not mean evolution. Abiogenetic models are well-defined and well-constructed scientific theories, most of which are supported by empirical evidence. The loose collection of beliefs presented by certain Bible-followers, on the other hand, are not scientific theories, nor are they supported by testable and credible scientific evidence.[/hide] On the flip side: I was just trying to see if someone on this forum knew what they were saying. Also, you're obsvly not getting the point about science beign a religion, which is fine, I'll just move on. And what do you mean by burden of proof is a well accepted fallacy? isn't that a contradiction? I mean, I guess not, but if it's a fallacy, then it's not true. Scientists have found proof of certain miracles - [hide=Bible passage]10 The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great victory at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them from the sky, and more of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites. 12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon." 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on [a] its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel! 15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.[/hide] [hide=Proof]Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day! The astronauts and scientists said, There is the missing day! They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshuas day was 23 hours and 20 minutesnot a whole day. They read the Bible. Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes![/hide] That's the main gist of it. If you just type into google "proof of sun standing still," you get a lot of websites. Which all say the same thing, a space program was calculating orbits to see stuff about their sateillites - but a day was MISSING in space. Nio one knew why, this guy oointed to the Bible, and in a verse, and it made perfect sense. Is that not evidence enough? And fyi, a theory is a theory. A scientific theory is no different.
  16. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 62874.html We're [bleep]ed. The whole point of no timeline was that if the terrorists know when we're leaving, they won't attack as much, so we know "hey we beat em!" we leave, and the [cabbage] just hit the fan, a lot of it. When we leave, all the terrorists and their 'buddies' come back, and all the money we wasted and lives lost (though minimal) were of no use. And we all know how incompetent the Iraqi leadership is.
  17. Oh noes that's awful! Was it....*gasp*....double-stuffed??? Anywho, worst thing I've ever done: There was this terribly grumpy old lady that lived behind me. Actually, I think she's dead now. But anyways, we had a treehouse that was right on the edge of her property. All of the neighborhood kids would hang out there and play. Of course, the lady comes barging in and has the whole treehouse torn down. She actually hired people to tear it down. We were pissed. We devised a plan to get back at her. She had a shrine in her back yard with a bunch of old glass junk hanging from trees around a circular mound of logs and twigs on the ground. This stuff was pretty old. So, my friend had just gotten a bb gun for his birthday and we went out one evening right after dark and pelted it until most everything was shattered. Then we ripped up the circle of logs and threw it all around the surrounding area. After that, we got some paint and painted "Life's a [bleep]." on a tree. It was great fun at the time, but now that I'm older and look back on it, I kinda regret it. THAT IS [bleep]ING EPIC! Was she like a Wiccan? Lol. On a heavier note: I like how you just diesregarded her life "I think she's dead now, but anyways" =D> =D> =D>
  18. What's wrong with ants? Anything that can lift that [bleep]ing much is awesome. [/point] True.
  19. Elf!!! ILU!!!! I don't play anymore. :| How's life???
  20. To play Runescape. Really, I know the 'meaning' of life, in my opinion. But it's religous, but from a primal \ atheistic form of life - to procreate and survive.
  21. [hide=] The belief in, say, Young Earth Creationism, is also an "opinion." Of course, that does not necessarily mean it has any basis in reality! Likewise, a literal interpretation of the Bible -- in such a manner that Genesis is seen as a credible "source" to explain the true origin of life on Earth -- has no basis in reality. Um... 'Not-A-Religion'? religion - http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=religion 1. (n) a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny 2. (n) an institution to express belief in a divine power The burden of proof tends to rest on the party making the assertion (such as "God exists" or "Bigfoot exists"). It is a logical fallacy to "switch" the burden of proof, as you did above. Mathematics is an abstract system based on fixed rules. As per these rules, 1 + 1 is equal to 2. Thus, if somebody claims that 1 + 1 is equal to 0, not only would they be incorrect, but a rather large burden of proof would rest on their side to prove their claim. The proof supporting 1 + 1 = 2 already exists in the equation (as it follows the rules set by mathematics). The existence of god, unlike math, is not based on a system of fixed rules. It's based on the claim that "something" exists which we have not empirically observed. Are you familiar with the analogy of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Now a cliché, I'll admit, but it drives the point home. Basically, the claim is that the Earth was created by a 'Flying Spaghetti Monster' with the touch of His Noodly Appendage. Asburd, no? The burden of proof, in this case, rightly lies on the party making such an assertion (those claiming that the FSM exists). Switching the burden of proof with "Show me proof that the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't exist!" would be a logical fallacy. Simply doubting the FSM's existence does not mean the burden of proof rests on us to disprove the claim! (Of course, it is impossible to use empirical evidence to disprove a non-observed entity.) Here is more info on the Burden of Proof Fallacy: http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacie ... proof.html [/hide] Ok, show me the logic. You keep on saying 'logic dictates' but not giving any exact examples. Logic is ore then whatever you want it to be. Apparently, every thing you think is logical, and everything everyone else thins that differs is illogical, does that make any sense to you? And yes, Science is a religion to some. No not as in a 'supernatural' being, but as in they look or it to answer all their life questions, such as a religous persojn would look to their god. And there IS empiracle evidence to support God. ;) Now, it is on YOU to show me that there isn't. You're trying to disprove, so the burden of proof is on you. (There really is evidence.) Also, how is "origin of spiecies" then any different from the Bible? As in you're saying the Bible is a theory, well, so is Evolution, no matter what way you spin it. 1. the science that investigates the principles governing correct or reliable inference. 2. a particular method of reasoning or argumentation: We were unable to follow his logic. 3. the system or principles of reasoning applicable to any branch of knowledge or study. 4. reason or sound judgment, as in utterances or actions: There wasn't much logic in her move. 5. convincing forcefulness; inexorable truth or persuasiveness: the irresistible logic of the facts. Those are the definitions of logic, fyi.
  22. No more than I can prove to you that the Flying Pink Unicorn and Bigfoot doesn't exist. Usually, though, the burden of proof lies on the party making the assertion. Say you're gambling $100, and probability tells you that you have a 1 x 10 ^-100 percent chance of winning the next round. In such a scenario, it would be extremely unreasonable to believe that you WILL win, based on the odds. That amounts to a: 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of winning. There is a chance that you will win, but, given the odds, it certainly isn't a bet worth gambling on. Although losing may not be completely inevitable, betting on such low odds would go against all sense of reason and logic. The Bible is a poor source of information concerning the origin of Earth and its inhabitants. Literal interpretations of the Bible explain the fictional history of Earth just as Lord of the Rings explains the fictional history of Middle Earth. But this isn't a discussion about fantasy... And science is not a religion. No different from the claim that "God does/doesn't exist," or that "The Flying Spaghetti Monster does/doesn't exist." Of course, a mere lack of proof does not mean we should be calling such statements stupid. Is it stupid to suggest that the Flying Spaghetti Monster does not exist? It is an opinion if the bible is fictional or not. And also, I stated it the Bible wads *my* opinion. And science is a religion to some, if you really think about it. There's a term for it, but I forgot what it was. But what I meant was, your source I guess you culd say, that Aliens might exist is science, my source is the bible. I was just trying to show sources, and tbh, if it's not proven then it's usually an opinion in some cases. And I still don't understand, how is it not the burden of proof or whatever to be on both parties? Can you show proof God doesn't exist? Of course you can't, no one can, either because if you're a Christian, (or for any religion really) you believe that your God DOES exist. But if you don't believe in that religion, then you can't prove it doesn't, using your science, because science can't tell if God exists or not, only lay out theories. I don't know if thats confusing or not, I'm just trying to say, proof of burden is a two way street, no matter what. If you're in Math class, and you say that 2(2) - 4 is 0, you have to show proof, show your work. But if you were to say it isn't, you'd also have to show how it wasn't. Does that make sense? People say I make really crappy analogies. :(
  23. The probability of Earth being the only life-bearing planet in the universe is so astronomically small that it would indeed be very unreasonable to believe in such a claim. Unless, of course, there is a particular feature of Earth that makes it unique in bearing life. This is the core of the "alien" argument. I am not asking for you to prove the non-existence of aliens, I am asking for you to prove that the Earth is unique in bearing life. The (non-)existence of aliens will logically follow. The notion that Earth and/or its inhabitants originated in a fashion unlike any other planet in the universe -- allowing it and only it to bear life -- is a positive assertion, and it is on this side that the burden of proof rests. Perhaps I am being close minded, though. Perhaps the burden of proof lies on neither side, since it can be interpreted that neither claim (about whether or not the Earth is unique) is any more or less of an assertion than the other. Maybe this is what you are getting at with the whole "two-way lane" thing. Can you prove it isn't? (The bolded section) And it comes down too: we both have evidence to support our claims - and niether of us will accept it. You most likely won't accept that my reason is the Bible. And yours is probablility. Which is a fatal flaw (no offence) but, just because something is probable, doesn't mean it WILL happen. Now, in most cases it will, but in some it won't, which is why it's called probable, not inevitable. But as you can see, in my opinion the Bible is an excellent source, because of my religion, and your "religion" in a sense, is math\science. But 'technically' niether of us can solve it with hard empiracle (sp?) evidence. Good discussion though. o.O
  24. Actually, apparently you can get ther same type of vitamins eating specific "combinations" of veggies. Religous: Well, I eat meat because in Genesis God said that he gave us the animals to eat.But we should STILL repsect them, but their main priority is to give us food. B ut that doesn't mean treat em like [cabbage]. Non religous: I eat meat. It is AMAZING!@ I love salad too, I don't eat meat every day, infact sometimes I don't eat it for 2-3 days, just because I'm not in the mood. But it's still epic. But, the way I see it 'dumber' animals, like chicken are perfectly happy eating their food. Unlike 'smarter' animals, like Dogs, Cats and Monkeys (to name a few) they don't need attention, really. You take their eggs, and they don't even care, and just make more. But, a vegetarian lifestyle IS cheaper.
  25. Chances are, they do exist. Just not here. Sorry, no aliens today. What makes these three days any different? Chances are, they don't. Y Guy is correct. Sorry Saru but "God" (big magical all knowing force) is just as believable as a other worldly being :| , you were just brought up to believe in only one. Ain't seen any aliens, I'll report back if I do. What's the prophets claims based on? My guess he's just looking for his 15 mins of fame like every other insane prophet. Read the post above you. ;) Also, I was also trying to show him, that niether of us are sure. (I mean, I am, but you guys like to disregard any evidence I bring up XD) And also, I wasn't brought up to believe anything. I was raised in a Christian household, but found God on my own, and believe in him ,not because of my parents, but because of me. But that's just plain off-topic. I remember seeing a show about alien conspirators. It made me lolol (lol out loud). That youtube vid is why people think Christians are illogical idiots.
