  1. Yea, I got it a few days ago as well. Think I'm going to listen to it after I finished Mask. :) Good to hear some promosing sounds.
  2. I always kind of liked that first single that came on t.v. here in europe, One Step Closer. It was kind of hard, and well, it was catchy. In the end was alright as well. But I kind of grew over them, which is what most people will do.
  3. I was at "Tera Gotha" yesterdaynight, to see Birthday Massacre, and that was quiete an interesting experience, since I've never been to such a concert before. There were a lot of weirdos, but there also was a little record stand where I bought: Mask
  4. Oh, man! The album Unknown Pleasures was amazing, I knew that already but the remastered audio gives the spacey sound an entirely new dimension. And that live CD in the same package (The Fabric live July 13 '79) is amazing as well. It has got a really authentic sound that almost drops you back to where it was happening nearly 30 years ago! A MUST for the fans!
  5. Climb out of your window and slide down trough the tree. They did that in the fifties, and Christina Milian still does it. From am to pm.
  6. Isn't he just being himveryrandomself?
  7. You're getting funnier by the day... :|
  8. There's a pretty nice sale going on at amazon.com. The franchise collection DVD's by universal are on sale. They were relatively cheap already ($27 for five films) but they're not on for half the price. So I decided to go for the Marlene Dietrich collection (which includes some great early 30s Sternberg/Dietrich movies and the Jimmy Stewart Collection (yes! Another two Anthony Mann movies I can see!). And my Joy Division CD from earlier this thread came in. Guess what I'll be doing tonight. :)
  9. Yea, I just read about it on another forum. Don't know the band, but always a sad thing to see young musicians go.
  10. The "grandpa" in case is 77 years old. So, I wouldn't too much of a problem out of it. :P

That's alright. Nevermind, not the right thing to do.
  12. As long as the world keeps turning there is news for the tip.it'ers to share on the off topic forum.

You just don't get it do you. It is about the fact that people are just carelessly consuming, you don't pick what you like with care, you just want to have everything, so it's as easy as possible (and YES the MP3 player deffinitly has got something to do with that). Greedy, that's how I call it. Stand still for a moment for the things that you have, and choose something with care. People are constantly listening to everything, because they can. And just because you can doesn't mean that it's a smart thing to do. What does something in the arts mean when you are CONSTANTLY using it, nothing, right? That's what it is about.

Yea, I also dont't really know why I'm arguing this. Everybody here only thinks about "more more more more", and always need to be supplied with everything they want when they want it. Moderation, it's something that few here seem to understand.

Yes, spoiled. Movies aren't meant to be watched on a screen that isn't just 5 by 5. in centimentres And with the music spoiled that means that you are spoiled when you've always got 2000 songs with you to choose from, and when you pack a discman you take two or three CD's at most and then you're learning to value what you've got and how it is made, not when you just brainlessly go from #42 to #1837. Besides, why is it neccesary to always have all your music with you. It's sad when you're on the street and you see all those zombies with something in their ears just walking a bit. You know, you don't always have to listen to music, it's nice to communicate with other people as well.

It's not kind of dumb. It's very smart; I'm giving him advice to get something better that he hadn't thgought of yet. By your logic all those people recommending a Zen are doing something kind of dumb as well, since he asked about I-pod. A CD player isn't 'large', you're just spoiled with your tiny music boxes. I always took and still take my discman around and I never had any problems putting it away. People had discmans to listen to music "on a go" as well, you know.

My advice would be to get a nice discman. One like this: I've had it for nearly 10 years now (although it's not the exact same model) and it stll works perfect. With the money you save you can buy a good pair of headphones and then you still save a lot. Besides, anybody heard of an I-pod that lasted longer than five years? And not to mention that it will make you a better person. It will learn you to appreciate what you have, instead of mass consuming your music like a fat and greedy piggy.
  18. No, far from it. Sorry. Mine has changed to: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Ry Cooder Lou Reed/Velvet Underground Steely Dan Talking Heads
  19. I just used the Dutch word, didn't know the English version, but you all knew what I was talking about. How cool is that.
  20. My favorite band is called Open Your Eyes. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=701720
  21. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Papa won't leave you Henry fragment lyrics. I went out walking the other day The wind hung wet around my neck My head it rung with screams and groans From the night I spent amongst her bones I passed beside the mission house Where that mad old buzzard, the reverend, Shrieked and flapped about life after your dead Well, I thought about my friend, Michel How they rolled him in linoleum And shot him in the neck A bloody halo, like a think-bubble Circling his head And I bellowed at the firmament Looks like the rains are hear to stay And the rain pissed down upon me And washed me all away
  22. If you're really my friend, you'll sit trough Andy Warhol's Empire for me.
