Rap: You're white,rich and live in the suburbs. You listen to a genre focused around poor black people living in ghettos that commit crimes on a daily basis. Okay, fine. I stereotyped other musical genres (as a joke), so insulting you for doing the same would be redundant. Wow. I actually got 2nd place in my high school free style rap competition, I entered as a joke. Guitarist have to 1. Write complex musical riffs that go along correctly with 3 other instruments 2. Have a constantly changing, fast paced instrument to play 3. Every note has to go good with the last one, it is just like song writing. If it doesn't mix with it, it wont sound good Rappers have to 1. Make a simple beat that constantly repeats on the computer 2. Make lyrics that rhyme You got 2nd place in a freestyle contest, and you entered as a joke. Okay, great. What on earth did that have to do with it? That was just a sraight up troll comment. Okay, watch this, I'm gonna do the same thing you just did, only reversed: Rappers have to: 1.) Create a unique, complex beat by statrting with a standard one and then adding all sorts of other instruments onto it, which DOES require at least basic knowledge of the insturment. 2.) Make rhymes that follow in a usually similar scheme, and express them all while trying to make them unique so that they don't fall into the trap that all the mainstream 1-hit-wonders have. 3.) In terms of a freestyle, rappers must always be on their toes and constantly have their minds ahead their mouths,which isn't an easy feat, and it's only harder when it has to rhyme. Guitarists have to: 1.) Hit some strings with a guitar pick. Now yes, I know that playing a guitar is MUCH harder (no sarcasm) than how I described it. But that's what you did to writing a rap. You explained playing a guitar in detail, and then summed up rap so it would sound like it takes nothing. I'm starting to get tired with the comparisons of talent in terms of a rapper and a guitarist. We could debate for ages, opinions are opinions, and would never be able to boil down to a fact. I never insulted guitarists and said it requires no talent, I did the opposite. I DO believe that guitarists need a lot of talent, but I also believe that rappers do as well. Music in general, no matter what the genre, will require talent of one sort or another. Last time I corrected someone on a grammatical error, I was trying to change the subject because they had totally owned me That error wasn't even grammer related! -.- He said I was wrong because guitarists need more talent than rappers, and that's a fact! I didn't change the subject, I stuck on the subject of comapring the talent of a rapper and guitarist throughout my entire post (unlike both him and you, who instead of providing reasons, you just threw troll comments at me). Besides, half of the stuff in this post is constantly changing the subject! Remember, your freestyle rap contest? Or you changing the subject to grammar, which had NOTHING to do with this? Or, best of all, your class on music which only a few people passed? You're the last one who should EVER criticize someone for changing the subject. Go take a musical theory class, everyone thinks that they know a lot about music because they can play a few songs on guitar. Musical theory should be a required course, 22/26 people in my class failed. I went on to AP musical theory and was 1 of 3 people I already stated how this is irrelavent above. I never said I knew how to play the guitar, I never dubbed myself a musical expert. I did say I have a lot of EXPERIENCE in music, but I never said I have more than someone else, like what you're doing right now. I apparently offended a lot of people by saying that rappers require talent to succesfully rap. -.- I never ONCE insulted guitarists, the guitar, or anything along those lines. I've said a guitarist DOES require talent, I merely stated that a rapper does as well. In the end, it's just my opinion. I didn't force it on anyone, nor did I start flaming people and throwing out troll comments left and right. I stated it, gave my reasons why I believe so, and stopped there. I totally disagree with that. I think rappers need as much talent as a guitarist, maybe even more in certain situations. Ok, i'm just going to stop reading what you said right there. You-are-wrong, and that is a FACT. It doesn't have to be a personal opinion, but I'm sure that anyone with common sense would disagree with what you said. How old are you? You obviously haven't had much first hand experience in music. "Guitarists need more talent than a rapper" "Rappers need more talent then a guitarist" NEITHER OF THOSE ARE FACTS. A 2nd grader could tell that. They are OPINIONS, which are voiced through message boards as these, that's what they're here for. You provided NO reasons to why a guitarist is better than a rapper, you instead just attacked my age and experience in music (which I have quite a lot of). I voiced my opinion, and gave my reasons to back it up. I never attacked the poster himself by insulting him like you just did to me. It's an opinion. It says it right there in the beggining of the second sentence, "I THINK". So next time, give a reason to why I should agree with you instead of just attacking something as unimportant as my age.
