Just had my High school graduation last night. Still hasn't really sunk in yet. The all night party was pretty fun though, and one of my friends won a tv and another won a fridge which is pretty cool for them. Pretty great night overall.

So prom turned out way better than I expected. I was a little bit worried that it might be awkward because I'm not dating the girl I went with (went all over that in the relationship thread but basically we tried a date and I got friendzoned after, now one of my best friends), but it was still a ton of fun for both of us. Went to a pretty chill afterparty afterwards where we just had a bonfire, watched a movie, and hung out with the few people that were left at that point before going to a coney island, after which I went home as guys couldn't stay the night there and it was 5 am at that point. But yeah, it was an awesome day. Now tonight I'm seeing Roger Water's The Wall with a couple friends, should be freaking incredible.

Today was my last day of high school. Pretty crazy to think about and it still hasn't completely sank in yet. I went out to eat with some friends before school, then had a senior breakfast at the magnet school I went to only to come back to my normal high school for a senior picnic - I didn't eat the last two but it was a lot of fun and a much more relaxing last day than taking exams. After that I went with a bunch of people to a friend's house for a while and had a Mario Kart tournament, then we went to a mall for lunch and split for a bit. Later on I saw a concert where a couple of my friends' bands were playing - For one of them it was their first show in nearly a year, and they got MUCH better over that gap. After the concert we all went to a Steak n Shake for a while and I just got home for that. All in all, it was a really expensive day, but it was a hell of a lot of fun and a great note to end my senior year on.

If any of you guys aren't jamming Killer Mike you're doing it wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3NQNVTDfbc

Yeah I wasn't planning on getting a job this summer, my parents pay for my gas and whatever else I need and it's nearly impossible to find one in my area (I was trying to find one for a while). Was just planning on enjoying my last summer with everyone from high school. And yeah, I figured that about prom, lol, and I also figured that would be an issue because I'm going in her group and we're the only friends couple in the group (of like six couples total, granted). I mean I'll just go with it but I'm hoping that doesn't get too bad, lmao. And if it does, my other group of friends that are going aren't nearly as entangled as hers so we could move around or something. But no point in getting too worried about that now. And RPG, I don't really have any friends that graduated and are coming back; However as I think about it more there are a couple friends of mine I could probably reconnect with more and meet people through, lol. I just meant the locked in thing as saying that there wouldn't really be away to avoid being with her because I'm obviously going to spend the most time with my closest friends. But again, guess I'll just have to see what happens as far as that's concerned, lol.

Ugh, I should have listened to you guys about not going to prom with Stacey anymore after that thing ended. After it did, we sort of stopped talking for like a week, but then we started talking again and now we talk just as much as we used to when that whole thing was going on. And as stupid as it is to say about somebody you're trying to get over, lately she's become one of my closest friends, which makes the whole "just stop talking to her" thing not work out all that well. To make that a little bit worse, I went with her and some other people on a trip to Mackinac Island for a drama competition this weekend, and ended up spending most of the time with her (the other people as well but I still ended up being with her the most). As we were staying at a five star hotel up there, we had to dress formally in the evenings for dinner and the like. And of course, we ended up unintentionally matching both nights. And of course, seeing her all dolled up like that made her even more attractive to me. But, this last weekend with her made me realize that I'm starting to one-itis pretty hard for her, which is...not good. I've managed to avoid that happening for like four years, but she's...something else, lol. Regardless, our prom is in two weeks, and we're still going together. I don't think it will be awkward because we're really good friends at least, but I'm not sure how to go about getting over her. Normally I'd try meeting other girls, but that's sort of shot down by high school ending next friday and pretty much being locked into my existing social groups afterward for the summer (of which she's a part now) until college starts. I know once college starts I'll be able to get over that a lot easier because of all the new people, but I don't want to spend my whole summer being down about this girl who by this point I'm friendzoned to hell and back by. At the same time, I really don't want to lose that friendship by cutting it off completely, as like I said, she's a really close friend now. Ugh. What do I do?

Just got back from a Forensics tournament up at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. It was just incredible. The only downside is after two days of incredible five-course dinners I'm never going to be able to appreciate other food the same way again. We didn't do too great, but it was my school's first time at the tournament and we didn't really know what to expect as far as what kinds of scenes went over well there. We ended up bring three of our best scenes from another competition we did back in September only to find out that all the rest of the groups were basically just doing comedic abridged movie skits. I wish I had gotten involved with these tournaments earlier because this was some of the most fun I had all year, but ah well, at least I got to do it once. Then after I got home, a friend called and asked me to meet up with her at a Big Boys. I get there, and there's two other people there also who I don't particularly like but are close with the girl so I put up with them. We all eat, and then all three of them go "Hey, we only have 75 cents between us...". So of course, I got stuck paying for their food because I didn't want to cause a scene. I'm pretty pissed at them for it. Granted, it was only like an extra $7 for their meals and they claim they'll pay me back, but that's more than my meal was and I don't have a job or anything so I need to scrounge everything I can get. Now I'm about to start what probably is the worst essay topic I've ever had to write. My AP English Teacher tried making a "thesis" assignment for us, but she basically just jumbled a bunch of unrelated faux-philosophical questions and is having us write a five page essay on it with citations to books that can confirm our opinions. Now I know that five pages isn't really a lot compared to a lot of you college folks, but these questions are just terrible. But hey, at least I'll never have to take another English class after this; University of Michigan's Engineering school has no English requirement

Had my last school play ever today. Was really weird thinking about how senior year is ending like this, lol. The show went really well though. Afterwards I went with some friends in the cast to get some ice cream and played volleyball with them at a local park, so all in all it was a really fun night. now I'm just lightly reviewing before my BC Calculus exam tomorrow. eek. And dehydrated ice cream is the shit, as are dehydrated strawberries when they're in cereal. Aside from that I can't imagine any dehydrated food being remotely palatable, but I guess part of that's just because I've never tried it.

8/10, haven't checked out much doom metal aside from the obvious Candlemass, Reverend Bizarre, and Warning before, but that was pretty great. Didn't really seem too proggy outside of the odd time signatures but I guess the progressive tag probably holds strong relative to other doom metal. Pretty great atmospheric sludge metal, band only has a two-track demo out but I'm excited to see where they go from here.

My god I've loved all of the Prog rock you've showed me so far. I haven't really branched out into the more avant-garde stuff that you seem to post as much as I'd like to, however I'm pretty decent with the older stuff. Definitely going to check out everything you've posted here though. Newer prog rock doesn't come up too frequently it seems (or maybe I'm just not following the right websites, lol), but Beardfish is a pretty great modern prog rock band: Of course there's also the obvious Steven Wilson projects floating around; however I feel that most of his recent material has been dropping in quality after Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet; That new Storm Corrosion album he dropped with Mikael Akerfeldt was a snooze fest. However Porcupine tree was the shit back in its peak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRYzo7uQugc All I really feel like posting for now, I'm curious if there's anyone else into the genre though.

Haha yeah the calculator free-response part was so hard. Man I left so much stuff blank. Really? I answered every part of that (though I have some doubts about my answer to the second question), the second question on the no calculator free response screwed me up most. I guess I should be thankful I at least came up with an answer to every part though.

8/10, really dug the instrumental bits but the vocals rubbed me the wrong way for whatever reason.

I also took the AP Chemistry exam today. I felt really good about the multiple choice section, then the free response section hit and for half of them I'm just hoping I grasped at the right straws. Still answered everything at least which is more than most of my friends could say, but I'm just really hoping I can pull a 5 on this so I can get out of labs at my college next year. Though I only need a 4 for the same credit to at least get out of lectures, and I feel like I probably scraped that at least. Now to prepare for the BC Calc exam Wednesday, which I've heard is quite the doozy.

Thanks, I'll check those albums out but I much prefer that format to listening to smatterings of radio clips, which I realize isn't exactly ideal for electronic music but it gets annoying for me having to switch between two song singles every five minutes when I can just play an album and let it go for a while. But thanks nonetheless, I might check those out sometime. For anyone that likes Indie Pop, The Neighbourhood released a pretty great EP for free on their website here. Here's the single (my favorite off the ep):

That song was awesome. I just loved the general atmosphere of the track, and was definitely not expecting the metal section to kick in like that. Definitely checking out more of their work. 9/10.

Mainstream rock isn't exactly my most-listened-to genre, but I feel that Red would be right up your alley. Alternative Rock like the bands you listed, with some symphonic elements thrown in for good measure. Also, while they are a bit heavier than the bands you listed, you'd probably enjoy Deftones also. They are more alternative metal, but most of my friends with similar taste to you like them so they're at least worth a shot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7HhVoXgk-c If any of you liked old Nightwish, these guys are pretty similar to the Tarja era. Sort of forgot Power Metal existed until I found these guys today, it's a pretty fun genre.

What are some good trance albums that have come out this year? I've been curious to try the genre but I don't really know anything about it aside from a couple of psytrance acts (basically just Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, and Shpongle).

They're unsigned now? I thought they were on Tooth and Nail for some reason. Regardless, thanks for posting, about to be all over that. Also, I Like Trains has released a really good post-punk album a couple weeks back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5BcS5TFHWU

Ugh, I'm freaking about those too. My Chemistry teacher takes so long to explain everything that we're going to have to teach ourselves electrochemistry on our own and we won't get to review in class at all, and our physics teacher waited until last week to teach us any calculus-based physics. I think I should be able to pull off the 4 I need for credit on Chemistry, but I'm really nervous about physics because I only can get credit at my university for a 5. I feel pretty confident about my BC Calculus exam at least though. Had a pretty good practice with my band tonight before going to a battle of the bands that one of my friend's bands was in. They didn't end up winning, but it was still a lot of fun.
