  1. Am I really arguing in favor of Fate, or Destiny? It does sound that way sometimes. I really need to think about that. Mostly I just brought this up because topics like this interest me. Fate and destiny naturaly seem to imply a supernatural force working upon them. The argument I see most rationaly presented is that we live in a universe of cause and effect - a never-ending chain of consequence. So why should it be that humans are able to evade this omni-present law? It is interesting, but it can drvie you made. One person spent weeks just flexing his hand and wondering if he had had the choice not too. Until he went mad of course. So if you are of unstable mental condition, then find away around it like I do, rather than through it. :) It's not maddening to me so much as it is interesting, for some reason. I can see people easily getting lost, of course. Edit: I don't think that the absence of free will implies that all events are pre-destined. There are three schools of thought here: Existentialism - "Existentialism maintains that in man, and in man alone, existence preceded essence. This simply means that man first is, and only subsequently is this or that. In a word, man must create his own essence: it is in throwing himself into the world, suffering there, struggling there, that he gradually defines himself. And the definition always remains open ended: we cannot say what this man is before he dies, or what mankind is before it has disappeared." Jean Paul Sartre Compatibalism - "Liberty and Necesity or consistent" Thomas Hobbes Determinism - "There are a lot of myths which make the human race cruel and barbarous and unkind. Good and Evil, Sin and Crime, Free Will and the like delusions made to excuse God for damning men and to excuse men for crucifying each other." Clarence Darrow Thats usualy how the argument splits. So what other suggestion were you forwarding?

  3. I find that the debate is of little practical import. If we have no free will, then whatever we do is pre-destined to happen. Thus any changes that we make in our justice system would not be as a product of knowing that we don't have free will, but rather that we had no other option but to do that. If we have free will then nothing needs changing. Always act and imagine that you have free will, because if you don't, what have you lost?

Ignore this post (not this thread...just my post - I was going to say something but changed my mind)
  5. It's quite a good poem :). I'm not so good at writing runescape poems :(. I have posted one random poem in the library though: Here
  6. Pssst...Want to make 400k an hour? Runecraft nats whilst growing kuarms in every patch available. Every 70 min go and harvest them and re-plant, then go back to runecrafting. I can make 350-400k an hour (herbs take 70 minuites to grow so it isn't an even per hour profit) this way.
  7. Lock please.
  8. If I'm allowed to post it like this, then here is my outfit: If I can't post it with that backdrop I will have to find a different out fit as it only works with that back drop :o.
  9. keep the last graph on the same scale as the two above otherwise it is slightly missleading. Secondly it is impossible to calculate the increase in the increase of 99 skills - by that I mean you can't determine the rate of people clocking 99's now with the rate they were clocking them 1 year ago, thus making it very hard to conclude with certanity that more people went for 99's to get capes as a consequence of the announcment. It seems to me you would also need to factor in the number of new players in these calculations as a distortion factor (as the numbers of 99's may increase, but may stay constant per head of population, showing no real increase) but that would only provide real distortion over quite a long period of time (I think :ohnoes:. It depends on the increase rate of the rs population) Otherwise interesting in two ways - firstly the increase was generaly along the lines I expected and experienced (although we can only vaguley guess what the exact rate increase was), and that you would choose to study it.
  10. Some Idiots are gathering in world 9 at cammy tele spot to do some protest against hunting being late...it is rather sad, but mildly amusing to watch.
  11. If you count gladiatorial rome as medival. Runescape adheres to no particular time period - you must remember it is first and foremost a fantasy game, not a Medival game. Just look at the new quest - Ballons were invented by Montgolfier in France in the 1700's (I think, I may be wrong, but it was sure as hell was after 1485)
  12. I'm only 72 construction and I'm in the top 5k . I find agility annoying, and I really don't mind walking foran extra 5 minuintes to get to where Iwant to go rather than spending weeks training agility so I can use a shorcut. If a quest requires me to have a higher agility level, that's when I will train it.
  13. cynics would say that you simply posted all of the areas of the map that haven't been filled out yet... But of course, not me...of course
  14. Kind of exactly what I said then?
  15. a filler update as they continue work on hunting probably

  17. Related Guides! Here are some other guides that are very useful in relation to safe spotted: The Archive of Wisdom The next guide is a totaly awesome, well thought out piece of work. It teaches you how to understand the "science" of safespotting. It is more complicated than just "stand here", but it codifies something that you can otherwise only learn by practice. All of the best safe spotters un-conciously use these techniques in finding the spots, and it is a great jumping block for beginners who want to understand the rules governing monster movement and trapping: Advanced Monster Blocking This guide is spectacular and massive. It is essential in honing those slayer skills, and many of the safe spots are doubled here - he has many I don't have and vica versa. Using these guides in conjuntcion will give you the best ideas about how and where to safe spot those ugly slayer beasts: Master Slayer Guide A good guide for desert treasure, using the safe spots I listed may help :): Desert Treasure Guide A daganoth king guide to show you how to use that safe spot correctly. I have checked it out, and it does work - but it is suicide to go down there alone: Dagannoth King Guide A great guide to complement the barrows safe spots: Leesters' Complete Barrows Guide Got 85 mining? Fancy clue hunting (using my safe spots) AND mining precious rune ore? This guide is for you: A Guide To Succeede At Rune Mining If you are hiding behind that crate in the TzHaar Weapon Shop, then this may be useful to you: Guide to TzHaar If You have been using that Giant Rock Crab safe spot and you've picked up a few chunks and lumps then this might come in useful: Dagannot Armour And of course, that all important creation the Tip.It Beastiary. If any of the creators of these guides don't want links to them here, they simply need to post here and tell me so.
  18. Fubai's video guide to Safespots! I've had a lot of positive feed back from my safespot guide, and, seeing as a lot of people seem to like it, I thought it might be worth producing some demonstration videos. These would be the first videos I have ever made, so go easy on them :) I have recorded and produced a sample video of the safe spot hevean - taverly dungeon. Most people know these safe spots, so the point of this video is to introduce you to the idea, ask you if you think it is worth making more, and, if you think its worth it, advise me and help me make it better. The benefit of these videos is that they are demonstrative - they are much easier to follow than writen instructions, they more easily demonstrate the techinique of monster blocking and luring, and are useful for refernece when tip.it forums are down, and to re-assure first time safespotters at these areas that the spots really work. Note on quality - I made the vid small so it could take up as little space as possible, and to increase download speed. This unfortunatley means that is is a little blury and some of the colours are wiered. Here are the links to my first vid: Rapidshare I will upload other links later Well, thank's for reading and please post your thoughts (good or bad but please don't be insulting. If you don't like the idea, say so, but don't be a noob about doing it) Feedback needs to be quick...as my trial period of camtasia will run out in 29 days :ohnoes: songs: ez-rollers - walk this land The stranglers - golden brown The Arcade Fire - Rebellion As a final point - my guide has been moved to the archive of wisdom, and I have added to it a bit. Please keep the safespots comming :) EDIT: After positive responses, I have made a guide to the elf hally spots (I remeber some people pmed me because they couldn't work out how to use the ones I had written about in my original guide) So, here's the RapidShare link: The ELf Lands Songs: Massive Attack - Teardrop Here is the watchtower RapidShare Songs: QOSA - Burn the Witch Dire Straits - Money for Nothing Karmajan Volcanoe :) RapidShare Megaupload Songs: FC Kahuna - Hayling Iggy Pop and The Stooges - I wanna be your dog I want feed back on the other vids please! SPECIAL VIDEO - HOW TO SAFESPOT SUQAH A video all about how to slay suqah safely, using safespots and not wasting food, so you can collect the bounteous rewards they have to offer - clues, left halfs and more - the full list is here at the Tip.It Bestiary. These guys are worth killing and very few people do, which is a bonus for me, and for those who follow these guides. This is not to be found in the other safespot guide either! RapidShare megaupload Songs: The Cult - She Sells Sanctuaries Joe Cocked - Don't let me be Misunderstood. These videos seem to have failed - they have had 0 downloads for such a long time that they have been deleted. I can re-host them if there is demand.
  19. Quests: Desert treasure IF u have a good m8 who has already done this quest, then it becomes realy easy - makes damis a so quick and easy. Get ur m8 to come with u down to the room with damis in, when he appears get ur m8 to stand on the square u are standing on, then u take one step back away from Damis and hally over ur m8. I have done this for several friends. It also works for smoke - but for ice and blood your on your own This does not work on the vampire, as he teleports next to u, and uses mage as well as melee. Farred Damis Kamil and Dessous There used to be a safespot for kamil using the same technique as for damis, however they have made it so kamil walks through anyone other than the quester. Similarly there used to be a trick for ranging dessous where you would attack him, run north, and he would try to retreat, then you would attack him some more and he would come back and then try to walk away again. This no longer works - dessous just dissapears back inside the coffin and u have to go and refill your bowl. However he can be trapped - But DON'T USE MAGE PROTECT. Otherwise he teles right ontop of the blocker. In relation to the whole quest, all of them are easy to solo so long as u have 43 pray - even damis (he just costs in p pots) this idea works for other quests too
  20. WILDERNESS SPOTS: Lvl 22 wildy green dragons There are some green drags out here which you can use stumps to hide behind (thanks to chessmastuh for that). Use range to pull them closer, but when you do this u atumaticaly move outfrom behind the stump, so make sure u walk back behind or prepare to be hit by fire. there are lots of powerful pkers, so i recommend full d hide (cheap + good) and d hally. Take nothing else (dont bother with glory or wealth - they easy to kill and dont drop too much) apart from sharks (or whteva good food) a super anti poison - dam pkers with dd(s) - and a either tele runes or llyeta crystal or port phasmis tele (only take 1 invent space). If u intend on banking the bones u may want to take a glory to tele to edgy, or use padewa tele's from the ancient mage set (u dont have to rechage and less expensive to lose). Go with a friend if u want, as it is always nice to be able to kill those pkers. so take: d hally ranging armor any bow 50 of any arrows (bronze are cheapest) food tele - u will need to run down 2 lvls until u r at lvl 20 to use anti poison ring of life is always useful, but don't rely on it, if your opponent max hits more than 10% of your hp then it may not save u It is possible to do this without a d shield, but i recomend taking one anyway lvl 47 wildy  greater demons reside here. Beware, the area is multi combat, so gr8 for the terminaly suicidal rangers or mages, but better for hallying as u only need 1 item for that (the hally :? ). The easiest way (and the only way i use) is to tele there with the lvl 90 ancients tele. or u can use ardy tele lever and run down to it. Or just run up to it, but ardy lever is closer. ALWAYS TURN OF AUOT RETAILIATE. it's multi mwildy and u don't want to get autoskulled - not sure wether that glitch is fixed, but i wouldnt risk it. lvl 40 wildy[/b][/u] red dragons. this spot is not the best spot. U must bring an anti drag shield with u every time! when u kill it equip antidrag, wait for the respawn then u may have to move around to get the spot to be safe again. again it's in multi wildy. Lava maze (39-46 wildy) On the top theres a decent hally spot for lessers - but not worth coming out here for: However, there is a steel pl8 respawn right next to it - so you can alch a few pl8s for a little cash if ur willing risk the nats. Inside the lava maze itself there are a few spots for greater demons near the entrance: for acces to the black drags you will probably want an anti-poison and an anti-d shiled, although mage pray can get u into position: the realy great thing about this dungeon is the rune rock rite next to the blck drag hally spot. If you have 85 mining and are drop hunting or doing slayer this is a great place to come. KBD cage possibly the most stupid place to hally that i have suggestd - you get rune miner pkers, KBDer's and KBD pkers all here. However it's possible and if your using only 1 item who cares?
  21. Tip.It staff note: This guide has been copied to the Archive of Wisdom http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=373132 This original topic is for submissions of NEW safespot pics (or short videos?) or notification of removed safe spots. This is my Safespot guide that is posted on the archive of wisdom. It is posted here for people to add to. There are missing pictures that other people have posted on my thread in the Archive. So what I really need is those of you who posted pictures on the orginal guide that were not added to re-post them on here (code would be nice as well) so I can put them in. I also am obviously looking for discussion of the guide, and when some safe spots become unusable anymore (for instance the desert treasure ones change almost every time they update :x ). Here is the original text: This guide is designed for drop hunters mostly, and also gives good places to get slayer xp and just train with the possibility of getting drops. All of these spots are applicable to rangers and mages. N.B. DRAGONS - Take an anti-fire shield always, as you don't want get hit whilst getting into position or collecting drops BRING FOOD - always take food as you can get hit by accident and you don't want to risk dying The Guide! Taverly dungeon Blue dragons In the room that you unlock with velracks dusty key (please see heroes quest guide for this) There are plenty of good spots but they are busy. Black demons (take ages to kill - hide on the far west side behind the colums. Be carefull in manipulating them, it is advisable to take ranging stuff or runes to get their attention rather than leaving the safe spot) Hell hounds (bring an anti poison pot (u need to run past poison spiders), hally spots are quite obvious - stay on the upper path and theres two up there) - good for clues Black dragons (the drags are too big to pass the ladder, so stay on the east side of it, or run across the room - take anti fire - and hally from the other side) these take ages for me (lvl 91) 5 - 10 min per kill. Lessers here is an absolutely incredible pic from APERSON Taverly Dungeon Lessers: Hero's guild the Blue dragon in the cage (obviously) Very close to the rogues den bank so you can make a lot of cash just from banking bones and hides. Bring minds and airs to make sure you get the kill b4 anyone else. Hide outside the cage out in between the rock and skeleton. Requires you to have completed heroes quest. Karamja volcano dungeon + Crandor isle Lesser demons plenty of hally spots behind the columns, if it gets too crowded go out on top of Crandor and hide in the vegetation to the north side, hardly anyone goes there, and you get the two lessers all to yourself. A cheap way to melee the lessers in karamja without wasting food is to kill them until you are low on health, then go into the Tzhaar pits and go into the fight pits and die there. The you come back with full health and go back out top TzHaar pits Tzhaar - whatevas there is a good spot behind this crate in the weapon shop, but it is often busy here Karamja/Brimhaven dungeon (metal dragons) Red dragons in the room with the red dragons there are two little used hally spots, one on the far left side as u enter, hide between the rocks, and one in the middle (hide between the rubble piles) The babies and dogs get in the way tho, so ranging and mage is often better here Black demons there is a good hally or mage spot here, next to the entrance to the metal dragons. there are none for the steel drags at least - they spit fire so don't try it - i nearly died just checking that out greater demons from -Hero- from nvw08 Fire Giants another well edited pic from APERSON on the upper floor of the dungeon and another i saw being used on the ground floor is here: Bronze drags for all metal drags there are no safe spots where you don't need to always have an anti drag shield equipped and anti-fires pots drunk. However, there are several spots where you can do it without having to get into close quarters with them. Mostly i find that all you have to do is attack them then take a few steps back and they wont move in, but just use their ranged fire attacks. some one got d legs whilst i was down there... never got a d drop - watched 2 people pick up d drops today though Iron Steel Canifis werewolves Hally over tables and stools in the pub to kill werewolves - good for slayer if u get them Ardougne dungeon Hellhounds just go down and range or mage them in the cage, then when they come close hally them, bring telegrabs if u haven't done family crest quest. Try and avoid the ogres. another great pic from APERSON Watchtower enclave this is where i am as I'm writing this at the moment. You need to have done the watchtower quest to get in. Blue drags Here u can find plenty of good spot for blue dragons hide between the columns or on the path leading to the central rock Greater demons but I'm hallying the greaters in the cage. Bring some runes or ranging stuff to get their attention, and when they come close hally them. they are in the north east corner i think Waterfall Fire giants - go to the west room (safer hally spots), and hide behind the chair or in the doorway. There are always people there so bring some minds to make sure u get the kill. Barrows the technique of getting ur m8 to block for u whilst u hally over them NO LONGER WORKS so do not try it, it's a recipe for getting nailed. There are virtually no safe spots in the barrows tombs, but there are some in the tunnels like the following one: this is not advisable, as if something goes wrong then, especially with dharok, you can die pretty fast. Also doesn't work for Karil and Ahrim for obvious reasons. I'm a barrows veteran really, and I've spent a lot of time there, and i only ever use safe spots when they are right there by chance, and i never seek them out - too much can go wrong. Training ground Ogres you can hally ogres here after the biohazard quest, but it is not that worthwhile as u will almost always be fighting for them with other rangers, and they don't drop much. Wizard Tower Lesser demon u can hally the lesser in the cage on the second floor (third for americans), but there are often people there, and there is only 1 demon The Elf lands elves Do not try to hally here, as they have either hallies or bows too. Maging and ranging are ok in the elf camp (hide behind the fence) and Lletya. good for clues and herbs there is also an ultimate safe spot if you have 43 prayer in Lletya - this applies to close combat melee too. As there is an altar close by you can just recharge and pray all the time. Not really a safe spot, but it works like one. here is a pick of what to wear and the most common drop: however i have made quite a lot of cash by doing the clues from them and collecting the green d hide drops - not worth much but quite common Another one in Lletya: Shilo Undead u can hally the undead in the entrance to the village, but they don't drop much - only good for xp Entrana greater demons these are for ranging only, as you cannot take hallies to entrana (as this pic shows) you can make a bow on entrana - bring a log (mage in my case) a string, and arrows (you can take fully made arrows for some reason...) DO NOT FORGET TELE RUNES...OR END UP HERE... Smoke dungeon Dust devils there are a few hally spots down here, although i can't actually kill them i've seen them being used. Use the lava and wall to partially hide behind, and don't worry about being attacked by other devils, as they are not aggressive. Stay down here for ages and u might just get a d chain Fire Giants Trollheim Troll generals you can get all three generals here, but some of them need draing so bring good def armor they can hit 34+ so i only got 1 good shot b4 i almost died... guthans just wont heal fast enough :) you can hally rock and stick from up here make sure u use protect from range as you run around the path or u will get killed very fast, and bring ranging stuff to attract them. thanks to triquos for that Evil Chicken lair A new place to rack up some black drag kills if you want - very close to bank too. Kally lair! this spot is little known and little used (i may be one of the first to have found it). got a rune chain and other good drops from here so a good place - especially if u get kallies for slayer! here is another spot - posted by allbogs so a thank you to him however, as he mentions, you may be attacked from behind here, so if you are thinking about using this spot, be sure to bring anti poisons and good food - or just use the entrance spot This is for kally soldiers. Slayer Tower Bloodvelds There are hally spots situated in the tower in two places. and here good for slayer xp - i trained my ranged and slayer here for quite good xp and decent drops. Slayer dungeon Thanks to lucas42 for that Jellies You can lure the jellies here so you can range them. Stand at the point just one step east and 5 steps south, attack them here, then you can lure them into that spot Kurasks The following three should only be used when the Kurasks have ceased to be aggressive: Cave Horrors WaterBirth Giant Rock Crabs The Dagga king! I'm gunna try this one, but i think it is incredibly dangerous. The Giant Mole There are a lot of safe spots for the giant mole around the place, and, as he keeps digging, you have to be inventive about it. Here is a picture of the general idea: Thats about it for drop collecting - i only listed reasonably hi lvl monsters here, but there are lots of hally spots for low lvl monsters, however it is much faster just to buy some decent armor and a whip or scimmy and one on one them, if u r doing it for the xp. I concentrated on hallying here but i no more ranging and mage spots than i listed - all hally spots are usable for ranging or maging (thanks tip.it mod) any suggestions?
  22. If you get desperate just accept the tele other. Then, when you go back, turn accept aid off. Then you have no problems. You don't have to keep closing the window...you can just accept it when they tele you if you are worried.
