You can get kills from imps. I went into the boss room and alot of them attacked me and still followed when I was outside the room, so I believe their wander range extends beyond the door. I got 40 kills again, and waited 25 minutes outside the door. When I went in the boss monster immediately attacked me but the generals did not so I believe the boss is always aggressive. I was in the zammorak area.

There is a ranging safespot in the bandos area where you get an ogre in front of other monsters at a small entrance and fire at the monsters behind him.
