I used magic to kill elvarg around level 40 with a mage character, what I did was hid behind this stone wall thing near the exit gate to his lair, where he could not hit me, and we basically exchanged shots until he died. I shot once, he shot once then I hid behind the wall and ate food/etc. If you stand outside of the wall, hes going to keep throwing fire and stuff at you when your trying to eat, thus getting you killed. Well, im not sure if the wall blocks him from attacking anymore, it was a long time ago, they could of fixed it or something. I wasted around a inv of lobsters just to kill him, because he would shoot fire every attack instead of just melee attacking. So yes, its possible but harder than melee.

Nobody serious about ranging will use it anyway, we have darts and throwing knives to fill the gap of quick, weak range weapon, we will stick to our MSB. I cant see a small bladed disk thing to do much damage to me at all if im wearing armor, or even leather. Even it was aimed at my neck, which would hurt, this game does not take area damage into consideration, I mean one dragon mace smash to the face would kill you :-k

Those all look pretty cool, but the phase spell could be used to go places, well, where you should not be going (duel arena, castle wars, etc.) and the magic barrier could be abused by blocking off certain areas (Blocking banks? I could imagine a few high mages just spamming walls around a entire bank, which would be funny ) Slow is awesome :)

Well, there is one item that is very hard to get, and they could of made it so you cannot get it anymore (it could be considered bug abuse by getting the item, and you have to be in a certain spot in a quest to get it), it will hurt you for around 4 damage each time you click it. Ill write up how to get this item if you want, it will take me a minute though. Also, if you die while using it you can lose it. Have you done the sea slug quest yet?
