The Crying Game - I knid of enjoyed it, the start was very good and towards the end it got very good again however during the middle it was just a lot of talk which didn't establish the characters too me. The twist i had expected aswell, and so it didn't shock me that much but i did enjoy it quite a lot.

Because you judged an entire religion on the basis of a few people and therefore calling any Islamic person a terrorist that will blow me up if i question their religion. Whereas you assume Christians are perfectly alright and peace loving people. Ireland - a constant war of Protestant vs Catholic which results in bars and pubs being blown to peices and usualy everyone insilde of them. They even blew up a large part of my city resulting in many many deaths. Still want to tell me they don't blow people up?

You are just a worthless subject of media representation. Islamic people don't blow people up, tiny fractions do. Which is exactly the same for christianity where tiny fractions kill people in the name of their religion. Perhaps they don't crash planes into buildings but throughout history christians have murdered thousands upon thousands of people. He wasn't assuming anything based on religion he was assuming it based on the assumption the sun decays constantly, which is science. However, with the Sun we only have what we can see, we can't take samples of it and so it is a greater assumption with less proof to back it up. With carbon dating sure theres an assumption involved but we have more than just observable evidence. Theres a much greater gap of assumption between the two.

I was a christian. I have been on the inside and the outside of the religion, and why can't i deny it's validity? Truth can't come out with people who don't accept others opinions and try to censor their behaviour even when it does not affect them.

According to this all laws are "oppressive." Bill wanted to go kill Mike because Mike really made him angry. Unfortunately someone made a law that said Bill will go to jail for life if he kills Mike so he can't express his emotions and feelings the way he sees fit because someone thinks murder is wrong. Therefore the law oppresses Bills opinion and what Bill can do as they think their opinion is better than his. If something is "bad" then laws say it shouldn't be done. These laws are made by the government. The government is voted into office by a majority vote. I know a lot of people that aren't Christians that are against homosexual marriage and homosexual adoption. They think this is a bad thing for a variety of reasons. Don't get mad at Christianity over this, get mad at the government. It's a good point, however to allow truth to surface we need to take everyones opinion on board and for individuals to live as they wish as long as they don't harm anyone. As harming someone would go against the states purpose. Since everyone has as much weight in their opinions then nothing harmful would need banning. So that we can learn from these people and move forward. It doesn't matter if I am wrong or not, if I am then society will choose to have an abortion or be homosexual. And progress as individuals, these decisions (although wildly debated for abortion) harm no-one, and therefore no-ones opinion if it is right or wrong should have weight over anothers. If christianity is right on it's views then society will see people living such life experiments as homosexuality and they will freely choose to be homosexual or not. Do you even know what communism is? Why can't you see oppression without pain, do you know what oppression means? Lets take an example, Bill was homosexual and living within the state based on the christian morals. Bill was not allowed to be homosexual because it is of the Christian opinion that homosexuality is wrong. Therefore Christianity oppresses Bills opinion and what Bill can do. As they think their opinion is better than his. Loving and helping isn't exclusive too religion, and don't give me all this stuff about you helping and loving people. When I suggested you should give $1000 to charity you never replied. If you where so much into your religion and loving and helping you should do that no? Whether or not people love and help isn't my problem with religion it's when they oppress people who they disagree with, it becomes nothing more than an attempted justification of opinion and a way to inflict one opinion over everyone elses. Why would you enter a debate with atheists if you are offended by our disbelief in your God? Yes, because it hurts the progression of society and the people you oppress. What facts have you given? The bible said this and the bible said that. Your opinion that it is infalliable doesn't make it infalliable and therefore not fact so never even throw that intrinsic crap at me. Excuse me? I have studied religious philosophy, and while i don't find it the most interesting topic in philosophy I still research and probably know more attempted and coherant arguments for the proof of God than you do. There is some sort of medical experiment going on where each hatch watches the other hatch, maybe a new drug experimentation. Q. Why the hell is there a big [wagon] electromagnet on the island? Seeing the episode where Desmond meets the lady who tells him it;s his fate to save the word shows that the electro magnet if it didn't explode would have destroyed the world. Apparently if it does happen it would only recreate what ultra-high-cosmic energy rays have been doing for aeons around us. So doesn't seem all too dangerous.

It's pretty much every christian, religion self evidently assumes that they know the 'truth' and therefore what we deem to be opinion they deem to be knowledge and therefore better than our opinion.

They are just guesses. If they knew an exact figure they would put one. It's a guess, maybe an educated one but a guess nevertheless.

All Christianity stands for is oppression? Are you really sure you want to make this argument? I agree the guy you were debating wasn't making the best worded arguments but come on... don't ya think you are taking that statement a bit far? No, all it does is stand as a tool for people to use for attempting to justify their opinions, which are usually to opress certain things which do no harm too anyone. Such as when the Church condemed the use of Condoms - effectivley murdering people in Africa, or it's stance on various types of people. What reason does religion exist? So that one person can think their opinion has more weight than mine, and to think that they know truth when all they know is their belief. I really would have thought that some religions like christianity would understand that a society that allows for freedom and liberty is one which allows truth. However it's views still hold prejudice. Sure you can say "religion exists to give people moral guidelines" but we as humans are not stupid, when we created the first state we knew it was their to protect us. We don't need religion too tell us whats right and wrong, my opinion of whats right and wrong doesn't make me right over the next mans. And a book of opinion does not justify an opinion.
