  1. The problem is Sun Java... I believe it deals with the BIOS being out of date on your Mother Board, but that is only in some cases, I myself was unable to find an actual fix, but I did find away arounf the problem. Please take 10 or fifteen minutes and read this entire thread, reading a piece here and a piece there won't help you any so please read the entire thing: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=141727&highlight=
  2. There's nothing that defraging would do to help out in this particular situation Wyrm, have you tryed googling it or contacting MS themselves?
  3. With that atitude, don't bother coming here when you get "hax0rd!1!'
  4. Not sure if I fully understand. From what I make out, you have a computer acting as a router and all your other computers are hooked up to it... and you want to replace it? Or what. Try to be as clear as possible. So, can't you just hook your computer up directly to a router?
  5. Okay, what brand of router do you have, and what wireless card do ou have in your computer?
  6. Lol, you have to be kidding me wyrm... Okay okay, Once maybe, but as many times as you've had it happen I have hard time putting the blame on a poor little doggy  Has this been happening a long time, or did it start just the other night. If it just started, is there any settings you changed dealing with windows or have you installed anything new? To be honest, you've got me puzzled
  7. Is it wireless? Whats your OS. Are you hooking it up to a router... or a switch... or what? More info please

That won't get rid his problem, just more or less cover it up... Get service pack 2 by going to the windows update site, that is NOT an option, you should ALWAYS keep your version of windows up to date. They release the patchs to fix security flaws... obviously it is something you are going to want
  9. totaly false you can use 2 accounts on 1 pc And how do you suppose both him and his sister play on the same PC at the same time? Not only that, but you can't use the same server, and if you do it isn't legal... I can honestly say all of the advice or things you have posted about on the Tech & Computers forum fall under one of these catagories: 1.) You think you are right and someone else is wrong -----a) You are very cocky about it 2.) You post advice that is not true or doesn't work 3.) Your posts are incoherent rambles that benefit no one. As of yet, the best thing I have seen you post is the advice you gave the guy interested in Linux, and that could have easilly been searched up by him to begin with
  10. Make sure you scanned with them both in safe mode, to get into safe mode restart your computer and repeatidy hit "f8" untill it prompts you on how you would like to boot up. Select 'safe mode with networking' using the up\down arrows and then hit enter. Also, post a HiJackThis log here and we will check it for you. Make sure you post the ENTIRE log or it will be useless to us. Toget HiJackThis, read the stickies on this forum

Wow kid... we solved that mystery LONG ago, infact the 1st post: We are now talking about his SPYWARE problem, hence why we are talking about SPYWARE And why are you yelling at battletrax... if you havn't noticed he isn't an admin or mod, so I am fairly sure he isn't deleteing your oh-so-smart posts...
  12. I think it would be better off as a mini game like castle wars then anything
  13. I laugh at people with alienware, I have a friend who bought the gaming laptop To be honest, anyone who buys an alienware is buying a brandname. Give me 4000 and I will BUILD you TWO 'alienwares'
  14. zonda replied to Bnaped's topic in Tech and Computers
Post a HiJackThis Log (read the stickies to find out where to get this) and also make sure you are running adaware and spy bot with the newest definitions in safe mode, to get in safe mode restart your computer and repeatedly press F8 untill you get to the screen asking you how you would like to start. Choose Safe mode and then rescan
  15. Mmm, the best solution I can come up with is rather then using the shortcut button, place a shortcut on your desktop and link it to I know I have seen it done before... In fact I think I saw it at blackviper's site? Not sure but maybe someone else knows what I am talking about Then when you want to lock it just use windows + D and double click the lock shortcut
  16. Posting to update the situation: I just scanned with everything in safe mode and came out clean. Also did disk clean up and deleted all but the most recent restore points which gave them 3 gigs of harddrive lol (thats alot when the entire hard drive capacity is 7gigs!!!)
  17. Huh? No, you didn't do anything wrong. He was saying merc isn't supposed to post pictures like that or something, don't worry about it. As for a good flat panel try here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... t=Property
  18. Her account might be limited too (but first check the firewall) Can she get on the internet in general on her account? Can she log on to her MSN on your account? I am going with mirc on this one and saying firewall
  19. I wouldn't say extremly... If you are only factoring in the hardware I suppose, but people usually forget to factor in the OS cost, and I think home is 150? (I know pro is 300) All in all, it is fairly cheap for what you get, you're only paying maybe $100 for them to put it together (but you still get a POS video card) $100 may sound expensive, but when you look at other computer places selling the same stuff for $300 more...
  20. I wasn't going to poke fun at him, but lol. Nice one merc. As for whatever you want, try: http://www.newegg.com -or- http://www.tigerdirect.com
  21. Hannibal had some good points.... So, if you want a better gaming experience and want to stop needing us to get your comp clean: 1. Get a better video card. 2. Get a better processor. 3. (do this anyway, for the love of monkeys...) Get yourself an antivirus program, a firewall and an antispyware program such as Ad-Aware SE 4. Get a bigger HDD 5. Tell Dell to keep all their free trials, or chuck them in the bin where they belong *YAWN*
  22. Hey it it me  I spent the last night or two fixing up my sisters old PIII computer, and dang is it aggrevating. I updated windows as well as their virii definitions, got adaware and spybot for them, and scanned with house call. Afterwards, I started in with disk clean up and Defragged the sucker. Now I just want to double check with you guys... She has a few toolbars added on to her IE ( ) and I just thought you guys should keep that in mind before telling me what else I may have missed. NOTE: I did not scan with everything in safemode, but if needed I surely will. My brother in law wants to get more RAM for a game he bought for this computer. It needs to be at LEAST 128MB SD Ram, and compatible with a PC100 128MB stick. So far, I found this to be a fair deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820211005 it's from A-Data, which is fairly well known... I looked at some Kingston but felt it was over priced. Thanks guys! :D
  23. A threat is a threat no matter what, and the IP address being 'faked' doesn't mean the person isn't actually connected to you, it just means it is sending BS information to your Firewall. Also, I think BackOrifice had a sever set up to allow anyone infected to be accessed by anyone with the client. So in otherwords, there was a giant database of people with the server infecting their computer, and then anyone could simplylook at the DB, and connect to them... though I could be wrong, there were an awful lot of Trojans I used to deal with. In anycase, make sure you perform fll system scans with adaware spybot and your AV in safemode if you didn't already and I am sure someone will gladly check your HJT, just not me
  24. Your going to want to buy a video card, the one that comes with is junk. Also, when you buy from places like Dell or Gateway, they install a bunch of crap on your computer... So I suggest you contact them and ask them for your OS CD (your windows XP Home Edition CD) Then reformat, the only thing vital that I think YOU would lose is... your microsoft office junk, which can easilly be obtained by means of... oh yea we can't say that on this forum, but I think you get the idea?
  25. Yea you can but you have to get some thingy ma bobber. I am not familiar with mac's but I do know there is something you can buy\download that will give you the ability to do so, and yes you can play RS on a mac
