actually bots do most of those things and keep those items in high volume.

This account was originally a black pure created in 02, after coming back to runescape a little while back i decided to turn it into a main. Within the last 8 months I have converted this acc from a level 55 black pure with 78 woodcutting into a combat 119 main with 3 non-combat 99's! Good progress so far, but much more to come. My first 99 was agility, second was thieving, and now the 3rd. 99 mining! This level means a lot to me, 99 mining was probably my first goal back when i was a narb in 01, and now 9 years later it's finally mine hah. Thanks to all of my loves from lady's cc. <3

That has to be one of the stupidest things i've ever read from a nearly maxed player. There is nothing "wrong" with getting xp in a skill because of a reward at a certain level... that's why EVERYONE trains skills, every skill has rewards at certain levels... Humans are driven by incentives. Hardly anyone would get 99 in a skill if they never unlocked new content along the way, do you really think people would enjoy getting 99 runecrafting if they had to do air runes the entire way? no. Not everyone has 10+ hours of free time a day, so no it isn't really fair that you have to obtain 200k tokens AGAIN to get a weapon that you already had.
-
Don't use ADHD as an excuse for why you're getting 99 fletching and not a harder 99. I have ADHD, i haven't even been medicated for it for 3 years (since I was 18) and my first 99 was agility... before ADV courses.

ok i dont get it you say you hate runescape but youve played ot for 160 day very impressive on showing how much you hate runescape on topic pretty much who ever uses bots you just lazy its like with the studying you dont want to study you just want say some nerd to do it for you that just pretty much says you would be a dumb person so then wen you do have lvl 99 in everything and lvl 138 you asking around to people asking them what to do how do i do this pretty lame on you part and makes you look not smart judging by your signature, you only have 12 mil total xp. You haven't even experienced what it is like to get enough xp in the entire game for a 99 skill yet. Honestly, you haven't experienced enough of the game to form a very valid opinion.

clearly you have no idea what you are talking about bladewing. Please don't just talk out of your *** if you have no idea what you're talking about. Go to world 84, at least half of the people there ARE botting. LRC is botted EXTREMELY OFTEN. Botters see it as nice 50 mil gain while getting a "rare/respected" skill cape. Then after 99 mining and a d pick they'll switch to a rune ore spot. And yes, the bot can switch worlds and come back on a timer. You seriously underestimate bots.

Are there any "old school" players still out there?
xpandax replied to tjd123's topic in General Discussion
anyone who was anyone in RSC didn't DIY, sorry m8. And as far as old school? I still have my first account ever, # 58 to ever register for runescape I don't use it anymore and haven't since 01, but i've still got it ;D . So yes, i'm old school and I still play, but i'm efficient. -
there's no way. Botting 99 slayer would take months of running the bot 24/7 let alone getting 99 in every other combat stat besides constitution. Most botters get banned after 4-5 months of running a bot 24/7. But now since may 12th Jagex is only giving out temp bans so you can essentially get caught botting twice without being permed which adds up to around 8-9 months of pure botting time that you can get away with... do you have any idea how much gp/xp you can get away with botting in 8-9 months of 20/7? A Ridiculous amount.
-
If you want to witness just how bad the botting problem is in Runescape and why jagex can't afford to be too harsh on it anymore. Go play Soul Wars on world 44, then log back on world 44 after an update... there will be WAY less people playing. At least 40-60% of the people playing Soul Wars in world 44 are bots. Also go check out the Living Rock Caverns in world 84, a good number of those people are botting as well. You can tell because when they get attacked instead of just running to the other side of the rock they run all the way back to the pulley and deposit. Everytime they are attacked without fail no matter how full their inventory is.

saru and his fleet of adjectives win. Tbh we already have enough pseudo intellectuals writing tipit times articles. We all play rs becausee we want to. /discussion.

Barrack Obama is an intelligent man, however, not the most intelligent man in the United States so why is it that Barrack Obama is our leader and the most intelligent man in the United States isn't? Charisma. The ability to speak and connect effectively with anyone you may come in contact with is a skill worth developing and utilizing. In the 80's the main stream movie industry started popularizing the idea that the geeks in school would grow up to become the most successful later on in life. This idea appealed to millions, however, it isn't true. It doesn't matter how much more intelligent someone is than me, I'm not an idiot and I can connect with people very well... I'll be that geeks boss because I developed the necessary social skills to advance in my career. we are in a business age that is dependent upon relationships. That geek will just be in the lab developing my products. Now thats not to say that I think i'm better than a geek, I myself am a huge nerd. The difference being I dont' identify myself with the nerd stereotype. I developed social skills and because of that I'll be running a fortune 500 company, not stuck in a lab.

i'm going to have to agree with saruman. Honestly, in the world we live in today communication is vital and the ability to communicate effectively is a skill that you will benefit from for the entirety of your career/professional life. One of the keys of effective communication is to know your audience and modify your language accordingly. This is a forum for a video game that for the most part consists of 13-16 year olds. I'm 21 years old and I understand the words you used and how you used them, but in all honesty it's pointless. There is no one to impress here, we don't care how intelligent you are or how intelligent you perceive yourself to be. Learn to communicate to the masses and the world is yours.

looks like i got my thieving cape just in time for the emote overhaul lol.

They get their friends to go on the forums and say its a nice offer, to try and fool others into thinking it is. I would never in a million years accept that offer for my purple. yeah, its kind of funny that even intelligent merchants can fall for it. [hide] Those videos are a couple weeks old by now He's a fake. I was fooled  [hide]Although I personally don't want to accept what I see in those videos, as far as I can tell they look legit. 2r1ch4mybank is a real person (on RS highscores) with stats that match those in his videos. The videos are quite complex (showing many different elements of RS) which would be quite difficult to fake IMO. According to the videos, he made that account (currently named 2r1ch4mybank) on May 4th, 2009 and posted a bank video showing over 30 billion by Jan 1st, 2010 (that's 0 to 30 billion in 7 months!!). :ohnoes: Since then he has released 8 videos entitled "Rares are Rares" which show him losing tons of rares in various ways. The first video was uploaded on Jan 15th, 2010 and the most recent was uploaded on May 14th, 2010. In those 8 videos the following rares are dropped: 2 Elysian Spirit Shields 1 Divine Spirit Shield 26 Easter Eggs 2203 Santa Hats 1 Green H'ween Mask 20 Blue H'ween Masks 19 Red H'ween Masks 1 Purple Partyhat 1 Yellow Partyhat 11 Green Partyhats 16 Red Partyhats 1 White Partyhat 13 Blue Partyhats 3 Christmas Crackers . . . for a total GE value (prices as of May 18th, 2010) of . . . 216,248.5 million gp (over 216 billion gp!) :ohnoes: I realize that this only represents a tiny fraction of the total rares out there, but I believe this would have an affect on their value and availability. If anything, these videos will cause more hoarding as people will believe that loads of rares are disappearing, thus driving their prices even higher. The psychology of it all may well play a bigger role in the rares market than the actual loss of the rares (as seen in those videos). If 2r1ch4mybank can make 200B in roughly 6 months, what is there to stop him from continuing this madness? Will tradeable holiday rares disappear forever? Will I ever get my green partyhat? :wall:[/hide] [/hide] umm, if i recall, there used to be a money editor where you would "edit" the amount of stackables to how much you want it to be. Ex: the original amount of coins you have is 5000gp. you then used the editor to make it look like, lets say 5m gp and it would look legit but then once you try to trade it, the amount reverts back to its original. I THINK the same trick is being used, although I could be wrong. and I vote that its fake...cmon....216 Bill?... :wall: I believe its called a hex editor, and its been around since RSC

You have no idea how many soul wars bots there are. lmfao if you look at the population of the soul war worlds right before a runescape update and then again right after runescape updates (which means teh bots stop working until they're updated) there is a visible minimum 60% decrease on people on that world lol. Most people doing soul wars are botting, its sad.

it's not that hard to read their forums, plus a few people that i know irl that go to the same college as I do have botted for the past year, so i get a pretty first hand insight into the more private cheating community.
-
[Removed Image] paranoid much? Bladewing, funny you should mention mining rune. A well known private mining script mines rune in keldagrim, heroes guild, or neitz it switches worlds based on the respawn rates of the ores. Private cheats are greatly underestimated, people assume botters are still using crappy color clickers like in 06, or free scripts that mess up but that isn't true. A large percentage of macroers are using private scripts that aren't going to mess up and can do alot of things you wouldn't expect them to be able to do.
-
I don't think many people are selling accounts anymore: I think that the number of people who are high level and quitting, and the number of people who want to buy accounts just isn't in the correct ratio: if you're only going to get $10 for your level 100 acc, why would you bother selling and never being able to play again? many people bot just to sell accounts... there is still a pretty healthy market for buying/selling accounts. especially pures.
-
they've been giving out 14 day bans for things like autotyping and autoclicking for awhile now, but they just yesterday started giving out temporary bans for using private scripts that are much more complex than any autoalcher out there. They used to do this in 08, but switched to permanently banning major macroers until yesterday they brought back the temporary ban system.
-
Incase you've been out of the loop, apparantly yesterday jagex brought back temporary 14 day bans for macroing. It isn't announced anywhere that I could find on rs.com, but through browsing a few cheat sites I found picture evidence that starting yesterday jagex started only doing the 14 day temporary bans for macroing again, similar to what they did a few years ago where you get a 14 day ban for a first time macroing offense and a 21 day temporary ban for a second macroing offense and no permanent ban until the 3rd offense! I'm not talking the little autotyping or autoclicking macro programs either, but the private scripts are being labeled as "macro minor" and only being given a 14 day ban. Does jagex need the extra cash generated by these macroers subscriptions that badly?? ***i'm not condoning macroing in any way shape or form, so don't do it*** but in theory, one could now 24/7 macro until they get a temporary ban and then wait 14 days, do it again until the second offense and then stop botting and have a couple fresh 99's that they did absolutely nothing for or hundreds of millions of gp and not be permanently banned. What are everyones thoughts on this? And how long do you think it will take Jagex to realize that this is an absolutely idiotic way to deal with the re-emerging botting problem?

because i'm 21 years old that works 3rd shift and goes to school full-time during the day. When I get a chance to play runescape it is for my own personal entertainment/relaxation, not to help every random person who pm's me. I get alot of pms from people i don't want to talk to when my private is on. The people i want to talk to in rs are on my friends list. I've played since 2001 so I don't really have much in common with your average runescaper anymore. i'm sure if I was 13-16 I would engage in more conversation with people in runescape like i used to, but i'm not 13-16 anymore. The people I enjoy talking to are either on my friend's list or in the clan chat i frequent. I don't play runescape to make friends or socialize, thats what real life is for (for me). Do i think i'm better than people just because i choose to play more privately? No, that's just how i enjoy my runescape experience. Is it selfish for me to not help people? Maybe, but then again my time to play runescape is fairly rare so isn't it also selfish for you to assume that I should have to help every random person in runescape with the small amount of time i have to play. Most questions random people ask could be easily solved within 5 minutes of googling, I figured runescape out for myself throughout the years, why can't they?

invest the gp from your kills into getting that ranged it up, it's terribly low for your combat. -
If you played runescape expecting to enjoy every second of it then no one would have 99 agility, think about it. it's a relatively slow skill that can't be afked and has no monetary reward and the last useful thing to come from the level is the agility armor and shortcuts that cutoff at like 90. I have 99 agility, I enjoyed very little of my time training it but I love the fact that I have set my mind on a goal and accomplished it. that I managed to get 99 in a skill that most people cant' tolerate past level 70. i've played since 2001 so i am clearly not from the "new generation" and I can tell you from personal experience that the efficiency/grind mentality has been around since the beginning. Most people played casually and somewhat "noobish" until they found a community like tif for instance. I've been apart of tif since early 02 when it was still scapeboards and that is how i learned to be a more efficient player and because of that I enjoy my playing time much more now. You have to grind to be rewarded with the more fun aspects of runescape these days. I'm currently grinding out 95 prayer for turmoil, is it fun no. But will it be worth it? Yes.

actually, people who do bot or have seen how bots work can generally tell who's botting and who isn't botting... most bots do something in a particular pattern that is pretty easy to recognize if you've seen it first hand. Most kids who just throw around the accusation of botter don't have any idea how bots work and just use it as a way to feel better about their accounts because obviously, if someone elses account is better than your own they either botted it or are a nerd. (sarcasm)
