  1. I know this, but im suggesting you can do it for free.
  2. this whole thread still under cons. this will change with time
  3. 1) INTRODUCTION [hide=]Welcome to my thread. As I have been training my smithing skill I have been more and more unhappy with what I can unlock as I level up the skill. Today I acheived 93 smithing and I unlocked rune square shields. I was not at all happy with this. Rune is a free to play, medium level armour and does not deserve to have such a high smithing requirment this day and age. This thread will serve to fix the smithing skill, making it more profitable, fun and useful. 90%of this thread is courtesy of Lhikata so I would like to fully aknowledge you fully. Yes, in this section Im going to try and persuade you beyond doubt that Smithing Needs a HUGE update!, by all means possible Smithing falls below the other skills! Yes, it does fall below the other skills by a great amount, for example fletching makes smithing look weak in that you can make runite crossbow limbs at 91 smithing, yet make the entire crossbow with only 69 fletching! Not only that but the bolts are made with 88 smithing and 69 fletching! I see this as greatly unfair and belittling smithing! Now what of crafting? How does that compare, well I will show you, after dragon slayer you can wear the rune platebody and its ranged equivalent , the green dragonhide body, now Ive already stated these to be equal, but one takes a fair 63 crafting, AND THE OTHER TAKES 99 SMITHING! As if this wasnt absolutely ridiculous enough, at 84 crafting you can make what is possibly the greatest ranged armour in the entire game! While with a gargantuan more experience in smithing, you can still only make medium level armour! THIS IS SIMPLY WRONG! And what about construction, maybe it is fair on smithing, oh no far from it-in order to put rune armour in your player owned house, you only need 28 construction, and 99 SMITHING! The list goes FAR on, these are just some examples Other skills are in perfect harmony with each other! As onyx gems can be crafted and enchanted at very similar levels, fish is caught and cooked at really similar levels also, and woos cut burned and fletched into bows likewise, Why Should Smithing Suffer!?[/hide] 2) REVISED SMITHING TABLE [hide=]The fact that is requires 48 smithing to make stuff you can wear at level 5 makes no sense to me. Smithing sohuld be closer to what you can use at your correspondant combat level. Most players with 99smithing have 40 defence for example. This new table completely changes the way smithing works, instead of all different items at different levels, items are smithable in groups, so maces, daggers and axes are smithable at the same level, if you get me Set 1-Axes, daggers, maces, short swords, medium helmets, nails, arrowtips, chain boots*, round shields*, Chain Belts*, Chain Gloves* Set 2-Warhammers, longswords, dart tips, bolts, full helmet, chainbodyand knives, scimitars, chainlegs/skirts*, square shields, spears, hastaes, Plate Belts*, Light Gaunlets*,cannonballs,Limbs Set 3-Battleaxes, two-handed swords, two-handed axes*, platelegs/skirt, claws, platebodies, kite shields, [bleep]ed shields, Great Helms,Heavy Gaunlets * Currently not smithable/nonexistent Smithing lvl 1------bronze set 1 Smithing lvl 3------bronze set 2 Smithing lvl 5------bronze set 3 Smithing lvl 6------iron set 1 Smithing lvl 7------iron sheets Smithing lvl 10-----iron set 2 Smithing lvl 14-----iron set 3 Smithing lvl 18----steel set 1 Smithing lvl 20-----elemental shield Smithing lvl 22----steel set 2 Smithing lvl 26----steel set 3 Smithing lvl 30----mithril set 1 Smithing lvl 34----mithril set 2 Smithing lvl 38----mithril set 3 Smithing lvl 42----adamant set 1 Smithing lvl 46----adamant set 2 Smithing lvl 50----adamant set 3,golden helm, golden bowl Smithing lvl 54----rune set 1 Smithing lvl 58----rune set 2 Smithing lvl 60----join Dragon Shield Halfs together Smithing lvl 62----rune set 3 Smithing lvl 66----Zeotine set 1 Smithing lvl 70----Zeotine set 2 Smithing lvl 74----Zeotine set 3 Smithing lvl 75----join Godsword Blade and join DFS Smithing lvl 78----carnite set 1 Smithing lvl 82----carnite set 2 Smithing lvl 85----repair barrows armour for free Smithing lvl 86----carnite set 3 Smithing lvl 90----teronodite set 1 Smithing lvl 95----teronodite set 2 Smithing lvl 99----teronodite set 3[/hide] 3) THE NEW ORES [hide=]NEW ORES Carnite, Zeotine and Teronodite, my names for the new metals that are going to bring back the power, point and pride of smithing, letting us make some of the best weaponry and armour in the game, so the best stuff shall be player made once again, of course these metals shall also affect the mining table, and the rocks would have to be extremely hard to get, especially teronodite-the most powerful of the three As if to balance, the current rarity of high level rocks like runite, would have to be made more common, Id expect to even find a runite rock or three in the lumbridge mine Zeotine A grey-purplein colour(similar to ancient staff headpice colour), zeotine is the weakest new armour zeotine takes 55 attack/defense to use It is a step above rune and granite, and a step below dragon Requires 68 mining to mine the ore The ore is slightly rarer than current adamantite A zeot bar is one part zeotine and 10 parts coal Fully tradable From smithing treasure trails and monster drops Carnite Yellowish orange in colour and very strong You need 65 attack/defense to use carn It is noticibly better than zeot and dragon, but weaker than 3rd age and barrows Requires 78 mining to mine the ore The ore is rarer than the current runite A carnite bar it 1 part carnite and 12 parts rubium Fully tradable Only from smithing and maybe treasure trails/high level monster drops Teronodite Crimson, very cool and the strongest of all the metals To use teronodite you need 80 attack/defense Teronodite is the best there is, better than 3rd age barrows and bandos Requires 88 mining to mine it The few rocks are found in a secret location, may require extremely hard quest A terone bar is 1 part teronodite and 27 parts rubium Tradable-not in grand exchange and wears down like gauntlets requiring an extra bar and smithing level respective to the piece in need of repair Only from smithing ? Rumour has it there is an even stronger metal. This metal is a combination of two ore. The first ore is found behind the mithril door. The sister ore is found within the inner most sanctum of the godwars dungeon. It has been said that not even coal or rubium is enough to heat these powerful ores together. Requires 95 minning to mine. Requires 95 attack/defence to weild[/hide] 4) BOB AND ITEM REPAIRING [hide=]1) Players currently have two options of repairing their barrows armours. They can either take it to bob or repair it at their POH. The fact that it requires 99smithing for a measly 50% reduction in the cost of repairing barrows armours is underpowered in my opinion. a(as i stated, my opinion). I think we should only need 85 smithing to fully repair barrows armour. However kharils and Ahrims should also require 85 crafting to repair as they are made of a cloth/hide (i think) 2)Again with that dumb old bob! Let us repair our own hatchets and pickaxes, at the accociated level of course. 3)Broken arrows should also be able to go up to rune not just mith if you are to repait them 4) Bob will teach you how to repair axes and picks if you have completed all the Lumbridge acheivments[/hide] 5) OTHER NEW ABILITIES FOR SMITHS [hide=] With a whetstone players now will have the ability to "sharpen" weapons, adding temporary damage boost. Sharpening lasts for 2 hours of combat, then It will degrade to its normal state. Crush items eg warhammers are unable to be sharpened. Here is a sharpening table: 9smithing: sharpening adds 1 to damage bonus of weapon 19smithing: sharpening adds 2 to damage bonus of weapon 29smithing: sharpening adds 3 to damage bonus of weapon 39smithing: sharpening adds 4 to damage bonus of weapon 49smithing: sharpening adds 5 to damage bonus of weapon 59smithing: sharpening adds 6 to damage bonus of weapon 69smithing: sharpening adds 7 to damage bonus of weapon 79smithing: sharpening adds 8 to damage bonus of weapon 89smithing: sharpening adds 9 to damage bonus of weapon 99smithing: sharpening adds 10 to damage bonus of weapon *as you can see, sharpening will make smithing alot more worhwhile. Furthermore you cannot assist others in sharpening, thus this skill solely serves the smither *It is also possible to sharpen harpoons, it requires 20 smithing and give a 2% increase in the chance of getting a swordfish over tuna. (sharpening a harpoon is permanent) *It is also possible to sharpen saws giving a 1+ to the construction skill, it requires 30 smithing *At 90 smithing players are able to sharpen a crystal saw adding an extra +2 cons bonus to the current +3[/hide] 6) PROS AND CONS OF THIS IDEA [hide=]PROS AND CONS The way I see it there are several reasons this is a good thing Pros *smiths of all levels get what they truly deserve *Awesome new Armour! *Makes the skill fairer *adds variety to worn armour *balances out smithing with the other skills *smiths can Finally once again create the best stuff in the game which is currently monster drops Cons *monster drops no longer provide the best stuff I say: there would-and still is tons of great monster drops like bandos/dragon boots, visages godsword shards and the like, besides this con already applies to smithing and I deem smithing a better candidate for the best, and anyway smithing only fills the weapon body head legs and shield slot, and only for melee too, monster drops would still play a part trust me *Price Havoc I say: yes, people WILL complain that prices of rune will fall, yes so what, it may be 'Rune' but actually the armour is weak noob stuff for members and doesnt deserve high prices Prices of dragon items might fall? And 3rd age and barrows? These might fall, maybe not by much though as they are still high in demand and barrows have abilities, it takes a while to get 80 attack from 60 Teronodite and carnite, or at least terone, could be made untradable[/hide] 7) SUPPORTERS LIST [hide=][/hide]
  4. minning pure ess is over 100k an hour at level 50, yep really sucks.
  5. guthan spear way more plumeted atm, if you were smart you would stock up on guthan, it giong to go through the roof
  6. It was years ago so it is very blury, but here is a general overview my 1st 1m 1. went to karmja, picked bannans and put in the crate, i did this till i got 3k (and walked to barbarian village and bought a steel full helm) 2. after a few months i was pretty good, i could mine gold, and make gold necklaces! so i would go to karmja volcano mine a whole inv of gold ore. walk to fally, smith it to gold bars, then make gold necklaces, then walk down to port sarim and sell the necklaces to the guy, having to hope every 10 sales to get the best value for my hard work. I got around 100k from this! 3. I then found out how awsome merchenting was. and i would buy rune plates for 65-70k off pkers and sell them for 85-90k in world 1 =] hmm thats all i remmeber it took me easily over a year (maybe 2) to get my 1st 1mill. sure it took a long time, but hell i really enjoyed it.
  7. +1 i love the new mentality in runescape. everything jagex do is right and if you rant you should just stop playing. i think most runescape players have an inferior complex because of people telling them runescape sucks so they talk down any critisism towards their game so they can keep thinking runescape is the "perfect" game or something. even is the bank updates are good it still has flaws and without people ranting jagex wouldnt care about them, they are pointing out whats bad to make runescape better so let them rant. There's a fine line between ranting and Jagex bashing. The title "Another lazy cop out by Jagex" obviously puts this one far over that line. You'd attract much less flaming if you'd at least attempt to be respectful to the developers of the game for which this fansite was founded... is that really so difficult? ok you have a point, from now on if i wish to rant, i will structure it so it is more respectful, however im not going to apologise for my view.
  8. -a half assed bank update -a bug riddled HD option -unfinished skills that heave barely changed since classic -a ge database that is still beta -quests aimed at 8year olds -a new joke of a pvp thats called BH you want me to go on?
  9. wtf, i come back from uni, and im met by two pages of your dirty dirty flaming, its in the rants forum, so why have a go that im ranting? What do you want me to do, act all lovely dovey and put on a fake smile to get you all to agree with me. This new update is just another example of Jagex creating a second rate update that does not address the issue of the flawed new bank where if I withdraw an item, eg torag plate it will not keep a space, rather the whole bank moves! Yeah I am angry, cause it just shows you their changing attitude of doing things the faster and easyer way for them, rather back in the times when they did things properly. Also, so what if if didnt type with good grammer or spelling, it was still readable, so why dont you get off your grammar highhorse and stop trying to judge me or put me down. also lol at the person calling my rant propaganda? do you even know what that word means?
  10. dont give me that omnipotent, "i know exaclty what happens rubbish" this is not an update, just a cheap bandaid
  11. "There have been a few additions and modifications to the bank this week; most notably, we have added the 'Withdraw All-But-1' option, so you can leave placeholder items with ease. The bank's scrollbar speed has also been increased, so you can get to your items faster." This does not fis the issue at all! If I have one item in the bank and i choose to withdraw it, the bank will still move! Jagex, are your programmers 5years old or something? My old bank was alot easyer to use
  12. i would like alot more security such as only allowing my IP to go on my account
  13. sorry but anyone who does basic training does it because a:all there stupid friends want to look call b: they are stupid themselves and want to kill people c: they want to make money but dont realise how likely it is to die and the extra 5k a year isnt worth it/they dont want to work in macdonalds for the same money d: they want to fight for their country which is so honourable that iraq desevers to be invaded for having some riches that arnt gonna crash after the economy crashes e: they are racist bastards who think iran attacked them first and dotn realise that they are fighting for oil not the saving of a country f: they are smart skip basic training go straight to uni then take a job as a high ranking office job type person who will never see combat and earn 10 times what the idiots killing themselves earn :-# a bit off topic, its about him celbrating not the pros and cons of war
  14. another nostaligic "back in the good old days" letter to the editor, mushy mushy... ...sure its great to go back to our roots (i been playing since 2001) but i want to read an article that will get me thinking not just another runscape players reflection satement (which has been happening alot lately) [puts on dragon breath shield in preperation for the flaming]
  15. I dont lend anything to anyone, the only reason is that i have nothing good to lend =]
  16. Yeah I agree I loved looking through the highscores way back in classic and was amazed that people could reach a 99 stat. There are so many more high level players now and when im online i must see over 100skill capes a day. there a so few things that impress me these days, the only things I find special are: -gold castle wars armour set -black chompy hat -[Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]/bunny rabbit ears- not really an achivment in a sense, but they just very rare and you are pretty old skool if you got them *10 kudos to everyone that posted with a pic from the highscores from classic, was good to see ps samanthanz pwns still
  17. I would say that i take a scientific approach when I train my levels up. I am always reading guides while I train so I can further develop my knowledge of the game. At the moment I am at edgy smithing gold bars, I chose this because I enjoy the smithing skill however I do not have the time these days with uni and being 18 to be training it at a snails pace. That said, even though i take a very mathematical, calulated approach to how i play I still very much enjoy myself. While I smith I listen to my music, talk to friends in clan chat, talk to mates on msn, go on facebook when I do all these things it is a very relaxing time, and thats what counts. When I first started runescape all those years ago in classic, it was very diferent, my knowledge of the game was far less, I would make money by picking bannanas at Karamja for the 30gp. Since then we have seen the game community develop, and now with all these guides, databases and calculators we can find the exact amount and how long it will take and cost to reach a goal. Its not about scientific vs. relaxed, its about its about are you a person that reads up on how to do things the best way or if your are person that does not have the information/knowledge at hand. Very few (yes their are exceptions) high level players log on and just say "hmm, I think im going to pick some bannanas today", they know the best ways to get xp and items/gp for their time due to sites such as tip.it \
  18. Runescape Name:king giovas (member) (two spaces in my name)
  19. Hahaa! whatt! Who would place a game over their hygene! Hehe. what a funny thread =p
  20. Back in runescape classic there was a major bust on autoers for using a certain bot. Their punishment was a full stat wipe. The interesting thing is that their hp didnt go back to ten, rather it would drop to one... What else was fascinating was that they would keep their quest points, thus the low levels (under lvl 10) in heroes guild =p ...well fast forward a few years, imagine if anyone still owned a level two acount! a rare breeed indeed. I would love to see if one still existed.
