over 5000 here, as a side effect of losing sanity to the bonecrusher upstairs of the Ectofungu... sorry, EctofunTus.
-
For the record, their combat lv of 25 comes entirely from their HP, rest of their stats are probably 1 if not zero, so they shouldnt hit you that badly.
-
it probably was 17m, when it was released months ago that is. Not even Full Infinity cost that much, he was trying to rip you off. 3m sounds more of the actual price.

29/09/2008 Jagex recently changed the behaviour of Barrow Brothers, and such that they will move out of their safespots, hencing safespotting them no longer works! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! This guide is for those who may be unfortunate enough to meet any of the melee brothers outside of the chest, but are fortunate enough to meet them in the so-called 'Corner Rooms'. You may not see any safe spots in that room, so you decide to go to your inventory and click on your prayer potion. However, this is totally unnecessary, because in everyone of these corner rooms, there is 1 safe spot each. These are visible to you sometimes, most other times you will not see them. Proof of these spots : You would probably asking yourself, WHY on Earth do these spots exist? What exactly are these? As I said, you will see the culprit for this spot sometimes, but not most of the othertimes. In fact we pay so little attention to it that we sometimes forget that they are there. They are in fact Ladders. Why? Ladder Positions are fixed in the 4 corner rooms, and when you start a barrow run, and you enter a tunnel, it will be in one of these 4 rooms, but the other ladders will be invisible to you, because you cannot use them. However, to the game, they still exist and are still obstacles that you can shoot over (or through depending on which way you look at it). These spots provide extra bit of protection against the melee brothers, and also allow you to save valuable prayer potion doses. The following are images of the 4 corner rooms when the ladder are there, and when they are not there (but being used as a safe spot). Red dots denote where the ladder is supposed to be. North East Room North West Room South East Room South West Room My apologies for some of the images not showing the arrow to prove genuity of author, however due to the time constraints, I did not retake the screenshots of the safe spots. The point is still shown, that you can still use Jedi Mind Trick.. *Smack* er.. these safe spots. Now, why are these spots useful? These I found useful because now I can try and force few of the brothers before reaching the chest, this allows me to mage them from a safe spot, thereby minimising damage and Prayer Potion usage, and save money overall. This technique is achieved by opening and closing door repeatedly until a brother shows up or the doors no longer spawn monsters, in which case I move on to the next room. The following shows the ideal places for this to be implemented The pink lines shows which doors are to be entered and exited repeatedly. These doors are chosen such that there is a safe spot to either side of the door, so regardless of where the brother spawns, you would still be able to mage him safely without using prayer pots. Just be careful of the monsters beside it. Most of them will get stuck by the ladder, though some nasty skeletons might decide to stab you in the back. Kill them with melee and then carry on maging the brother. However if you feel confident enough that you can ignore the skeletons, worms and rats, then you do not need to touch them. You can still hit the barrow brothers even if you are being attacked by another monster. For those people that may have a bit of trouble finding a way down in the tunnels, try and position your map so that it always faces north. If you do this, then every room in the tunnel is unique to its door positions and side tunnel directions. This will allow you to pin point where your ladder room is, and where the treasure room door is. Again when Barrowing, take all the precautions you would, especially down at the tunnels. If you don't feel comfortable about these spots, use a crypt rat or bloodworm as a practice targets, and once you are comfortable, move on to Guthan and Torag, and finally Dharok and Verac. NOTE : These spots do NOT work with Karil or Ahrim. For me, I NEVER fight Karil anywhere but at the chest. This is to conserve prayer potion by allowing me to drink right after a Hologram shows up. It is recommeded that you drink immediately after a face, so that you wont be immediately drained of prayer. What I do is kill everything in the treasure room, then equip my prayer outfit, set autocast and auto retaliate, and THEN wait for the face. Once face is up, drink, pray, open chest, own. Hope this of help. I will update this guide when I find more safe spots (which I have seen one more so far, will try and find others) EDIT 29th August 2006 Behold, I have found yet another safe spot in the Barrow Tunnels, this time it is near the North West corner room. This makes ALL rooms suitable for Brother Force Spawning. The exact location of the spot is shown here : Courtesy to Imageshack for hosting these images, I will try and shrink them in a later time. Thanks to Tip it for the Barrow Tunnel Image.
-
which kinda sucks in my opinion, there should be a way in low detail to tell you when your prayer is drained. VERY IMPORTANT if you are up against dharok in prayer.
-
I thought Spinning in Lumby castle is the fastest? Well if it isnt, it is very close second, and you don't need energy pots there either, because you don't run much.

Mage Bonus may affect Magic Dart, but since the Barrow Brothers have a such a low Magic Defence that it might as well not matter. Magic Attack Bonus does NOT affect the Magic Damage at all, it merely increases/decreases the accuracy of the spells (splashes, 0 damage counts as a hit). If it had, then Ahrim set would cost at least twice as much, because it has the best magic bonus by far. The damage of Magic Dart is 10 + {Magic Level/10}, where the number in brackets are rounded down, and it is currently the ONLY spell that increases damage when your magic level increases. EDIT : For the record, I use Verac's ARMOR (not the full set, i don't wear the Flail) for the Barrow brothers, because it provides decent Melee Defence (all over 300 when i wear Dragon square), very good prayer bonus AND it has less Magic Attack Penalty. I can still get +3 Magic Attack Bonus when I mage Guthan and Torag in Melee Armor.
-
its worth getting the 70 defence, the barrow armors on their own are superior to dragon armor's stats by a long shot.

There is one thing I would like to add : I think MMORPG, such as Runescape, is a strong reflection of the world we live in today. What does the thread maker's situation tell us? That money dictates the perceived 'quality' of a person, not his/her skills or personality. Who would be more famous? A master Computer Programmer or Bill Gates-like person? Obviously the latter, because society nowadays tries to value everything to this so called 'Cash', because they believe they can buy anything they wanted. Same thing is happening in Runescape, where poor people are looked down upon, and skillers are not as respected, because they don't care about skills, all they want is money. They also yet fail to realise that it IS the skillers that generate a lot of supply and demand for the popularly merchanted raw materials, and it is the SKILLERS that provide a base for which market is built upon.

as long as you get your kill count to around 10 (between 10 and 15 would be a good number), you should be able to make money out of barrows. Now you could cut down on your cost if you dont prayer on torag or guthan, but you should then use better food like monkfish, which doesnt cost an awful lot more than lobbies, but heal more. you should get about 40 bloods, 70 deaths and 120 chaos per run, on average, so 20 runs would get your money back.

Yes, Teleblock blocks ALL forms of teleport that is not induced by an NPC. The zamorak mage in wildy can still tele you to the abyss (i think, at least i was teleblocked when he did it).

60 slayer, not 65. If it is of any help, there should a door on the 1st (if you are english) / 2nd (if you are american) floor near where the Bloodvelds are (speaking of which...), get your nose peg on and go through the door, the green things are the specters.

Seer's hat is about 50k, Mystic Hat will do, but Seers give you that bit extra safety. It is not mandatory however. Oh, and DONT forget your Ring of LIfe, it saved my bacon a lot of the times
-
looking at your def, you should pray on all of them. Torag and Guthan are the optional Brothers, one does not need prayer on them provided that they have a decent defence, which unfortuantely you fall short of. Dharok, Verac and Karil are the ones you MUST pray when you are fighting them in the CRYPTS. The former 2 can be safe spotted if down in the tunnels. Karil MUST BE prayered at ALL times unless your defence is VERY high. Dharok should be your first. NEVER EVER LET your prayer run out (you can afford that mistake in Verac and Karil, NOT dharok). Then Verac Then Karil If you are using p pots, the order of the above 2 is arbitrary, i suggested that order because it involves less running, and saves a bit of energy) If you have left overs, Ahrim Then try and see if you can Mage Torag and Guthan in melee armor comfortably. One other note, you should NOT use Magic Darts at your level unless you are willing to lower your profits, because you can only do 16 damage, which is no different from 15 done by Fire Bolt (much cheaper alternative). I suggest that you should level your mage to at least 70 before using magic darts.

IIRC, it is also used to make Recylim's Balm potion, which cures disease.

Replace 2 things in your inv for Red D hide Top and Bottom, and replace your Initiate helm for Seer's Helm. You should be away then. I used a very similar set up when i started barrows, and yes i also used fire bolt, because all the accessible methods to me were not good enough to worth the doubling/quadripling the cost. Other than that, maybe better food, ring of life and replace your boots with wizard boots, and you are away.
-
not a ton. If you know how to minimize the damage, you shouldnt need to go near them most of the time. 6 4 dose sara brews did it for me, and it IS better than guthan's in that it also acts as a Super Def pot when used with super restore.
-
never tried it with Guthan, but using Muggi's Guide, i got it at lv 97 combat, which i HIGHLY doubt i will get to if i had used Guthan's. Guthan's makes it easier for higher levels, but Muggi's guide is very much suited to lower levels. Off Topic : Diddy, congratz on the fire cape :D

difference between mystic staffs and battle staffes
chenw replied to aznhiroller's topic in Help and Advice
just their stats when you decide to whack people with them. Other than that, they are identical. -
how u get skeleton armour? and good way to make lots o cash
chenw replied to demoticus's topic in Help and Advice
1. you have to complete the fremmenik trials quest to get that armor, and involves going to the so called Waterbirth Island. You can check the quest guide on how to make the armor 2. if you have the stats, barrows. If not, try fletching, steady but slow money. -
p2p : Killing abyssal Demons (requires lv 85 slayer) or Barrowing : Requires at least 59 mage, 43 pray, 40 def and 50 ranged F2p : Smelting Steel (requires smithing lv 30)
-
It means the half of the shield thats not sold by the legends guild, it is the left half that you spoke of in your post. All monsters that drop shield halves drop the same half, the left half.
-
Use pray pots instead, that reduces the cost of the pots, (although one can argue that its negligible) oh, and get your kill count up to 10's (10-15 would be good), so that you can get blood runes (6KC wont get you anything but Minds and chaos, perhaps some deaths and barrows, but nothing else). you can accumilate (sp) them and sell for cash. For max cash though, slayer dart, though the optimum method, it is not the cheapest. Fire Bolt with Chaos Gauntlets is the cheapest way. Not that slow either.
-
Becareful, Super restores are more expensive, and the stats the ahrim lowers is not of any significance in barrows (defence is arguable, but he doesnt lower it enough). I still use prayer pots most of the time, its just that karil lowers agility far worse than Ahrim lowers your strength
-
Prayer pots restore an amount of prayer equal to 7 + (prayer level / 4), where the number in the brackets are rounded down Super restores restore 8 + (Prayer level / 4), again rounded down. So Super restores heal 1 more prayer than p pots. i bring 1 super and 3 p because karil hurt kneecaps a lot
