  2. That Unconfirmed Sources is just a joke news site. Exactly... they inform you that it's satire right there :D
  3. That's because they don't tell people. Lol I know, I ment that ive never seen any cuts on anyones wrists or legs, when they havn't told people. At my school everyone knows who cuts and who doesn't. They are so easy to see. Look, not everyone does it for attention. Some people have legitimate psychological issues. And maybe someone is careful about where they cut (i.e. private areas) so no one will see - not everyone does it obviously on their arms. There are other ways to relieve stress for people who don't have psychological issues, but some people may never even consider these options - and it ISN'T THEIR FAULT - it's just the chemical imbalance in their brain. And even if someone is doing it for attention, maybe they're trying to get attention for a reason. Similarly, for example, most people who commit suicide talked to someone about it first... but dit it anyway.
  4. It exists in complete disharmony of the entire region... because everyone keeps attacking it. :\ Could you name one member of a family on EITHER side who was killed? This was an interesting "forward" I got... I have not verified its data, and much of which has sentiments that I do NOT agree with. But it does bring up a couple of interesting points - I will bold the ones I find actually relevant or interesting.

  6. Have you ever taken a really hot shower while you were stressed out, one so hot that it would hurt normally? It's relaxing, the pain relieves the stress. I've been told that cutting oneself is much like an extreme case of that. That doesn't make it any better, but it does explain why some people do it. The pain takes their minds off the stress. I think you did a great job explaining why most cutters cut. :) In addition, some people feel very badly about themselves - so badly that they feel like they deserve pain. Cutting themselves and seeing the blood helps some people take out their self-anger privately.
  7. P.S. Insane! You're taking linear algebra :D That class, like, changed my life :D
  8. Well, I don't think going through "emo" stages necessarily ruins people's lives. Going through such a stage can help a teenager who is struggling to become more independent (some might call it rebelling, but really, it is an important process that most teenagers go through). It may help them identify with a group and not feel so utterly alone, despite being not within mainstream culture. For example, I went through an "emo" or "depressive" stage when I was in high school. It helped me feel like even though I wasn't part of the mainstream, I was interesting and unique. I'm not saying this is a good thing; but it DOES serve a function, and can be just a stage. Nowadays, I'm going to a great college to study math, and I promise you I won't be flipping burgers at a burger joint :) Also, don't be so quick to stereotype. Not everyone who is depressed or who cuts themself CHOOSES to do so. Many have serious problems that can be helped with therapy or drugs. You don't have a "right" to get depressed if your life sucks - it's a chemical imbalance in your brain and it just happens.
  9. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays... I have NO CLASSES :D Monday and Wednesday, no class until 2:40 pm! Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am and pretty much all day, but you know. Anyway: * Appeasement and Origins of the Second World War * Behavioral Neurobiology * Abstract Algebra I * Introduction to Computer Programming * Social Psychology
  10. The Daily Show. To be honest, it's probably how I keep up with the world. Jon Stewart is my hero and possibly my future husband :D Or at least future president (ha, I wish) (For non-Americans, it's a mock news show that is really quite politically oriented and generally hilarious :D) Also, others I love: House, The West Wing, Gilmore Girls
  11. In a week :D Though I have to be back early for RA training. I'll be a sophomore in college and can't wait to go back :D me three :D northern NJ here :)
  12. Piano, Islam does not teach its followers to go kill the infidels. Believing this is very unfair to the majority of Islam followers, who believe in not killing, like other Bible-based religions. It is a perversion of the Islam religion - a sect - that believes terrorism is justified. Here is an interesting article, called "Arab Majority May Not Stay Silent Forever." I found it interesting and informative: http://www.nysun.com/article/36110?page_no=1

By the way, if you want a (in my opinion) better done personality test, check out http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=16567335035599898597. In both, I got ENFP. Here's the description from the okcupid version: Your type is known as the Champion type, which is part of the larger group called idealists. Nothing occurs that does not have some deep and ethical significance in your eyes. You see life as an exciting drama. You are very charismatic, yet tend to be too harsh on yourself for not being as genuine as you think you should be. 3% of the population shares your type. As a romantic partner, you need to talk about what is going on in your life. You are a strong supporter for your partner's efforts to grow and change and be happy. You need to feel that same support from your partner. Expressive, optimistic, and curious, you are eager to enjoy new experiences with your partner, whom you wish to be your confidant and soul mate, as well as play mate. You are uncomfortable sharing negative emotion, though, and tend to withdraw from confrontation and process your feelings privately. You feel most loved when your partner appreciates your creativity, accepts your uniqueness, and sees you as the compassionate person you are. You need to hear your partner tell you how much you mean to them and would love if they did thoughtful spontaneous things to demonstrate it.
  14. Holy wow. I can't believe how much my opinions have changed since two years ago. Hell no, I wouldn't die for my beliefs. What use is having a belief if I'm not alive to have it? Life is the only important thing.

The Daily Show always parodies that, having its correspondents being in obviously untrue locations :D
  16. That was really cool, and a much easier to understand introduction than many I've seen :D THANKS :D
  17. Well, not dusqi, I'll vouch for that one... :P

Don't forget; intentional ignorance rarely works out well. Forgive; all humans are, well, human. And good, somewhere, deep down.

That is your opinion, not everyone shares it. Just because you view one band as good and another as as just being a fun listen, dosent mean others cant view other bands the same way. That is a close minded statment.... ...And how it is a closeminded statement? As far as I can see, what Quer Skull said is perfectly true. It IS true to say that 'bad' music, let's say, poor-quality recording and a squeaky violin noise, may be enjoyable to listen to. If anyone here is being closeminded, it's you, Lionheart. Yes, but what defines music as "good" is mostly subjective. Where do you draw the line between good and all else? Does the word "good" mean it has a good beat, or genius themes and canons, or moving lyrics, or difficult guitar solos, or makes you want to dance? These are all valid qualifications someone might have for defining "good" music. There is no objectively "good' music because good is a definitively subjective word.
  20. Blue, I don't think that's quite accurate. Bush and his administration clearly pushed for the war - though Congress voted on it (though never declared war officially! in fact, first the administration controlled the troops and then Congress voted! This is not how war was meant to be in the Constitution)... Though Congress voted on it, it was clearly the Bush administration that pushed for it. It would not have happened had Bush not made it an issue in the first place.
  21. *blows Mercifull a kiss :D*
  22. Sometimes I wish I could... but I just don't. I suppose I think that literature and film can be magical, sort of. Well... maybe I do believe a little bit in magic on some level... being a huge fan of Peter Pan, I would never say "I don't believe in faeries" :x In fact, after reading it, I clapped, just in case  Gosh, I love Peter Pan :D
  23. He should have known he was risking his life when he signed up for the army. It is the government's fault in that they make it impossible for some students to pay for college, etc. unless they join the army. It seems like an enticing deal - join the Reserves, you don't actually have to do much probably, and we'll pay for your college education for you! If you've ever been to a recruitment office, they do everything they can to try to convince you it's a good idea and you won't die and you don't have to do combat, etc. But in the end, you could die. You are putting yourself out there. You sign the contract and release and such. It is your decision and ultimately your risk and your fault. however, the government needs to change its policy, which allows almost no other option for poor kids...
  24. The day it was over 100 degrees fahrenheit and our air conditioner broke :(
  25. The problem is, these questions probably relate well to specific readings you were assigned for your class. i don't think I'd be able to help you much without reading it :) Maybe you could ask someone in your class to discuss some questions with you, and work on it together!
