  1. Engineering programs tend to have a lot of requirements, thus making it difficult to double major. It's hard to know what is considered the norm and what is possible at your college; at my school, a ton of students double major and it's very accepted; at Rutgers, students are required to have a major and a minor; at other schools, almost no one does more than a single major. My best advice is to talk to your advisor about it when you get to campus. That's what your advisor is there for :D If you find your advisor to be unhelpful, make an appointment with your dean for advice instead. Also, a lot of it depends on what you want to do afterwards. It would be much more helpful to have a degree in CS in some career paths than in others :D Also, don't forget that you can take elective classes in just the parts of a major that interest you, and not even bother doing an official major/minor in it :D By double majoring, you'd probably knock yourself out, and not have any room for electives, which is sad - you should be able to take a random interesting course that's not required every once in a while. Looking at the requirements for the two programs, it seems as though it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to do them both. Good luck!! :D
  2. Hi shot :D Hope you've been well :D Thanks for mentioning me :P I used to be so obsessed with chasing RS fame, it was so sad :D Ah well. Aww, pugxsi :D And jenstarr :D The best thing to come out of RS, most likely. ^_^
  3. there are a few oldbies or semi-oldbies who I wonder what happened to: *Pepsi24 and her daughter flowergirl, and all the big rsnewera.com people :P *Iampenguin *M Oldfield *Angel2001, and Wicked, and all their other reincarnations *Ladykilljoy *Bluerose... of course :P *Lady Kalika *RAB!! (Aka Moderator). Gosh, I wonder what happened to him. *King Leo... he stopped playing but stuck around the community for ages, chronicling the Runescape experience. *Blick used to kill me a lot at the end... he was a low level pure-ish, damn good archer and PKer. *Messiah 14 used to kill me a lot at the beginning, when it was still PK / NPK and there was no Wilderness. *Fook a Ji was awesome... last I heard he was having a baby (well, his girl was)... wonder if it were born yet :D Or if he were telling the truth :P *Gugge and Phillip, sweetest girl and guy in existence :D *Azn Purity, damn good pker, protected me at hobbies :D *Gregechidna6, of course, my love :D He has a really cute girlfriend these days. *Oh, kryptix... think I had a feud with him, clan alliance against hackers... then he tried to RS marry me, I think? Maybe that was someone else. And of course, all the RS Trivia Team people... Leza, Merc4hire, 2nd Amend, Edgecrusher, etc :D Well, I know how Leza and 2nd Amend are doing, so that's not really that fair. This was fun to make. I hate when I get nostalgic though :D So not worth it.

SEITAN :D It is so good and full of protein for you, and far more delicious than tempeh or tofu, and vegetarian :D Also, anything with broccoli and garlic probably can't be bad. :D

That is your opinion, not everyone shares it. Just because you view one band as good and another as as just being a fun listen, dosent mean others cant view other bands the same way. That is a close minded statment... i̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôm talking from a technical point of view, not close minded at all. by good i mean technicly hard to play or brilliantly thought out, please don̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôt take me wrong. From a technical point of view, classical music is generally acknowledged to be the "best" - Bach is generally acknowledged as the genius who knew his music, knew how to expand and manipulate themes excellently, knew how to play on the emotions of the listener. That doesn't mean it's what I listen to, and clearly not what you listen to. Don't assume your taste is absolutely the best out there. In the end, people like what they enjoy, but they enjoy based on different reasons - some love touching lyrics, some love great guitar riffs, some just want to be able to dance to it. And there are different "bests" depending on what you're looking for. So really... don't be so closeminded. Like what you like. I agree with drealy :D

I think I'm a pretty weird kid. I don't try to be weird, though. Sometimes (though it shames me slightly) I do actually try to fit in. It doesn't work too well. I'm a weird kid :D
  7. 2 out of every 100 couples who use condoms as their means of contraception and have regular sex for a year, will get pregnant anyway. Just to clarify very slightly :D

I live about 40 minutes outside of New York City, in New Jersey. :D (Connecticut during the school year)
  9. They are, however, coming out with vaccines for HPV, which should hopefully be taken (especially by women) in conjunction the regular condom use (or, if you're monogamous and both STD-tested, another reliable birth control method). Also, there are two common strains of HPV, one of which is very common and leads to the statistic about infecting millions of adults; the OTHER less common strain is the one that causes cervical cancer. Either way, of course, you should try not to get it :D
  10. Hehhee, I saw a t-shirt like that on cafepress :D
  11. Yes, but in a similar way, you could say "You either use a condom or you don't" - in that, if the condom stays on, and is used for the entire duration of sex and not just the, er, finale - there is virtually no chance of getting pregnant. But accidents happen, either in condom use (it fell off! There was pre-ejaculate fluid! It tore!) or in abstinence "use" (I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing! We didn't have ACTUAL sex, how could this have happened?) It's easy to differentiate, but if you're going to argue that abstinence is a method of contraception (which I think is spotty in the first place) you need to take the ideas about what constitutes methodology into account, as well.
  12. ok from the problem b4, ths is waht i though you had to do. this is what i thought you had to do. Example 9x(sq) + 24x + 16 step 1. Find the two numbers that you can multiply to get 16 (4,4) (2,8) (16,1) to name a few step 2. Do 9 times 4, plus 4. Or 9 times 2 plus 8, and reversed and etc. ( do you get what im saying) Until you got to 24. so this isnt right? That's almost right, which doesn't work in mathematics :( When there's no coefficient in front of the x^2 term - such as in x^2 + 4x + 4 - that works fine. But when there IS a coefficient in front of the x^2 term, such as in 2x^2 + x - 6, you need to take that into account. So what factors could lead to you getting a 2x^2 term?! The only way to get x^2 is by multiplying an x term and an x term! So you know that it will need to start out with (2x + __ ) (x + __), because then when you multiply out this 2x and x, you will get 2x^2.
  13. 2x^2 + x - 6 Use the same type of guess and check method :D Only this time, there's something extra you have to keep in mind the coefficient (in this case, 2) in front of the variable (in this case, x - this terminology is good to know, by the way, for the future :D) So to get a 2x^2, what could factors possibly be? (2x)(x) would equal 2x^2, or (x)(2x), but those are the only real possiblities. What factors could be multiplied to get (-6)? (1)(-6), (2)(-3), (3)(-2), (6)(-1), (-1)(6), (-2)(3), (-3)(2), (-6)(1). So what do you know? You know that if the trinomial 2x^2 + x -6 factors neatly, that the factors will look like this: (2x + __ ) (x +__ ). Now when mutiplying factors like this, you FOIL it (Multiply the First term in each, the Outer terms in each, the Inner terms, and the Last terms). You know that in the end, you are looking for just 1x in the middle. What combination of the factors of -6 could be put in there to make it all work out neatly? Try guessing and checking until you get the hang of it. Remember that if you tried the first combination, 1 and -6, you would FOIL it and get: 2x^2 + 1x -6x -6, which equals 2x^2 -5x -6 when simplified. But this isn't what you're looking for! So keep trying, and good luck :) If you get to more complicated problems, you may find that factoring won't work in every case. Factoring only works when the problem works itself out neatly! There are other more complicated (and less guessing involved) ways to find out, and you'll probably get to that later in your course. :D
  14. I came too late to help, but if you have any more problems, just post and the tip.it team will deliver 8-) :D
  15. Anesthesia, by the way, you are in my opinion one of the most intelligent people on these forums who I don't really know. Also, your witty sarcasm is appreciated. No sarcasm. Just irony, maybe, then.
  16. - Cheesecake - The way people argue and argue, but in the end, almost always have good intentions - Long, really good intellectual conversations that change the way I think about the world - Changing my opinion on an important issue I've taken for granted for a long time, having been persuaded and having thorougly thought about it - Physical pleasures... I'll let you figure that one out on your own :3> - Libertarians who are truly socially liberal - Hugs :D - MY LAPTOP! - puppies :D - Large waves that you ride until they toss you under and you scrape yourself against the sand, and it stings, until the next wave comes - Refreshing your e-mail for the millionth time and finding a new one, an exciting non-spammy one - Dogs that lick your face and all over and are so happy for the simple pleasure of being able to lick YOU - Losing yourself in the anonymous streets and parks of New York City and watching the babies, the couples, the hobos, the businessmen, the tourists, and those who defy categories but you wind up thinking up a life story for them anyway - Bright colours
  17. Being alone. Shame it's more likely than most disaster scenarios :(
  18. ...oh my. If you took a picture of yourself in that getup, I think it would actually make me day. (Yes, I have sad days.) Not that you're allowed to post it here, I guess...
  19. There was ANOTHER huge scandal with DDT, quite a bit back - when it was used to kill mosquitoes as a pesticide, and wound up being toxic and causing all sorts of problems with the delicate ecology out there... There was a big operation involving dropping cats or something to try to fix it... So the EU doesn't want to cause another scandal by allowing DDT again, because the phrase "DDT" has such a negative connotative sound to the older generation (ask your parents). No one wants a toxin to be allowed again, right? As Phil said, its effectiveness isn't perfect, but it's still better than most things out there. Just because antibiotics are starting to cause bacteria to get resistance to them, doesn't mean we should stop using antibiotics if it's going to save lives. DDT would start preventing needless death NOW, and the benefits of DDT clearly outweigh the hazards in terms of human life.
  20. Getting cynical, huh, LP? :P It's alright, I'm the same way :P (Also: Will Smith is brilliant in that movie, ohh man.)

Last two years I got 5s in Calc AB, European History, English, Biology, Environmental Science, and US History. But because my college is silly, it barely helped me in terms of credit at all. They give you up to 2 credits for credit earned before matriculating to the college... However, those two credits might enable me to take a semester off to study abroad, instead of doing it through the college, and thus save a lot of money :D
