  1. I'm not really sure at all.
  2. On the forums, probably not much since I don't post much anymore :D In real life, I guess I'm kind of known as the random crazy girl who does stuff that makes people go  :D! i'm sort of the geek-hippie-wildchild ^_^ (Interestingly, people who know me better tend to think of me as more introspective and quiet, which is probably the opposite sort of internal-external personality dynamic from most people.)
  3. I can see getting a bit bored of earth after 20 or so years. I'd consider going up there. :D
  4. I don't think I really hate. In fact, I don't hate, especially not people. I get frustrated by situations, more, but not at the people behind them. Things I'm frustrated by: 1) the especially worrisome recent activity in Israel and Palestine. You silly folk, just realize you're not going to get EVERYTHING you want, accept it, and live together in peace. Does living together in peace really sound that bad? 2) lack of a romantic partner 3) that the book I'd like to read, Lolita by Nabokov, is out of the library 4) people not realizing that political correctness has its place... dangerous stereotypes are passed on through innocent means 5) that people are more tolerant of violence than sex in the media and around them. What's wrong with sex? Clearly a lot is wrong with violence. 6) how the American administration uses the cover of saving innocent people from an evil dictatorship as the primary reason for going into Iraq once he discovered there were no WMDs... and then NOT going into other countries also deeply in need, such as Sudan and many more 7) how the American administration thinks it's fine to make new laws (without the checks and balances of the legislative and judicial branches, since they refuse to tell the other branches what they're doing!) and not informing anyone, the rest of the government or the american public, about them, carrying out activities that should be illegal, but they claim are legal, because they just secretly MADE THEM legal. 8) how everyone rushes to give standing ovations to a soldier who "risked his life" and went over to Iraq (though half of them never intended to actually go out, and just signed up for the reserves to make money to pay for an education), but they don't give such standing ovations to, for example, teachers who help students in public schools every day. I guess I do have a lot of political gripes. I have fairly radical views, perhaps.
  5. I don't think there should be a law against it, and it's within the realm of parenting decisions, but I lose respect for parents who use this as a regular form of punishment - or even punishment at all... ESPECIALLY when the reason for spanking is anger-related as opposed to purely objectively disciplinary. A lot of people have asked for proof, which is difficult, though many psychological studies have been done in the area. I'd like to quote (it may be a bit dense to read for some people) a scholarly opinion (note that this is an opinion based on results of scientific studies, not the conclusive results of a scientific study):
  6. You really don't know me at all then, do you? :P What? Some people, like me, or perhaps Bubsa if the claim is correct, put on a facade and act like they're a good person, when in reality everything they do can be quite venomous. These can be people to watch out for who will most likely eventually hurt you... but then again, as long as they keep up the facade while you're around, all can be find and dandy for quite a while :D
  7. While I agree that you shouldn't lash out at someone you don't know, I don't think you should lash out at ANYONE. Chances are that there are very few people out there who if you REALLY got to know intimately, you would truly dislike. Everyone is human and interesting and likable, if you know them deeply, and I really believe that. Some have strayed and become warped through environmental experiences (i.e. Hitler), but that doesn't mean they're not a complex person who still has some good somewhere. I just rambled a bit, but what I mean to say, is that even though everyone is complex if you get to know them - you can't get to know everybody. So as others have said, stereotypes are, essentially, convenient. You don't have to presume to know everything about a person to know some things about a person.
  8. June 8 :D Just passed... I had yummy cheesecake ^_^
  9. Gosh, I guess I've been here ages. I joined the original tip.it forums back in 2001, I believe, but didn't really post. I was just finishing up middle school and was extremely arrogant (well, that hasn't changed :D). I preferred the original RS forums, where the Runescape Trivia Team ruled, and didn't go on the tip.it ones much. Some personal highlights and favourite memories: -Paul once posted on tip.it (when Jagex still posted, ha :() that he thought I was extremely kind and mature for someone who, if he recollected correctly, was only 14. I cared a lot what people thought of me back then, and it meant a lot that Paul knew who I was. -With typical teenage dramatic flair, I made a quitting post and said I would quit as soon as the thread died. My friends all begged me not to leave, saying they'd just keep the thread up forever, and eventually convinced someone (I think Lightning? hearts to Lightning :D) to sticky it for a bit, until I agreed to stay. -Camo coming out as a male. That was vaguely hilarious. -Getting to know dusqi, who had been a major part of my life. -The hilariousness that was rsn_lead. -The Runescape Insane Asylum, aka the RIA ;) Especially when a bunch of us were made mods a bit later. I wonder what happened to blink! -The old clan boards and trying my hand at diplomacy. -Blue Tear's special evil smiley. -RS Inn, the Wilderness forums, and those ones that pepsi24 made... all interesting groups of people and spinoffs of tip.it by people who were frustrated with it for various reasons. Oh, nostalgia. I guess after all this time I've finally started to really give up RS and the community, which is sad, because I love a lot of people here. It also makes me sad that there are a lot of people who I don't know here, who I surely could grow to love, and probably never will have a chance to... Hugs, all! Everybody hug and spread the love :o)
  10. I go to an american school, but we have two rugby teams, one that is for biological females and the other for biological males :D one of our most popular sports teams to watch, too :D

I'm pretty sure that sequence matters, in this case, since they said that if there were two scoops there would be 4 possibilities. Thaulsis is correct. There are a few classic errors to be made here, and the reason so many people are getting wrong answers, is that the initial pattern is "2, 4, ...". With only two data points, people will tend to go for the simplest possible solution, which is a straight line pattern, not an exponential one, which will lead you to the answer of 128... However, as Thaulsis explained, you have to think about how many additional possibilities are created by each additional scoop you add, which is to multiply the possibilities from (x-1) scoops by 2, to find out how many possibilities x scoops will give you. so you multiply 2 by itself x times. 2^x = 256. log base2 (256) = x =8... that is, 2 must be multiplied by itself 8 times to get 256. Nvw, I don't understand what pattern you're going for.
  12. Haha. Don't kid yourself. It may be the hardest math class in your school, but I went to a "normal, public high school" and it definitely wasn't the hardest. You have obviously never taken Multi or Diff Eqs. Those classes will make you cry. AP Calc BC is tough, but it's definitely not the hardest math class in high school. I took that junior year and then midway through my senior year math course, BC seemed like a joke. Just something interesting; I was reading somewhere that the AP Calc BC test, although genereally deemed as one of the hardest, was the most well-prepared for AP. My high school, and most that I know of, only go up to calculus - the difference is really when in the system they let kids start algebra, and if they let kids double up with math classes (i.e. geometry and something else concurrently) in the school years. I think it's standard for Multi / Diff Eqs / Linear Algebra to be offered to first year college students, though of course there are tons of schools that go more advanced beyond the standards. I only went up to AP calc in high school, and now I'm a math major in college, so it's all good :D Also, I know someone who for silly reasons didn't even take calculus in college - and he's majoring in math too! So even though high schools have massively different standards of preparation, it all generally works out in the end. It's easier to tell the differences among high schools in something like math, whereas differences in English standards are far more subjective, but also worrisome. Public education needs to be improved across the board, with more support both for the top students AND the bottom ones.
  13. That's AWESOME :D And any money they use for the upkeep probably goes to keeping the high-tech stuff working great... not improving the aesthetics of the building. :D
  14. You may at least view the ads, and if they're interesting you can click them - support the free internet while it lasts :o) As for those two... wow! Sure wouldn't have expected them to get together. It'll be talked about at the reunion for years!
  15. This is my concern precisely. According to cameron, the password database is encrypted and can't be figured out except by brute force... but in that case, how would Jagex be able to know if we had the same password for both RS and for tip.it or not?
  16. Basically, my parents pay for it. We are taking out some loans. I feel guilty.
  17. He's pretty hot, but meh!! :D (I haven't been able to see the show in weeks, however. Alas! :( )
  18. In psychology, this way of speaking is called "Motherese." In recent years, this term has become a bit politically incorrect, however, and is now referred to as child-directed speech (CDS). It's a bit mysterious; some research has suggested that it helps babies learn to talk by exposing them to slower and more "easily-digestible" speech. However, cross-cultural studies have shown that cultures that infants in cultures where CDS is not used still develop language at the same rate. So, mm, who knows? :D Ohoh, and here, may as well link to the wikipedia article on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_talk
  19. Mmmm, guys' deodorant smells so good  Especially Old Spice :D For me, it depends how recently I've taken a shower, since I'm pretty much a dirty hippie. :P (FYI, I don't usually go more than 48 hours... though my roommate tried to explain to me yesterday that humans aren't meant to shower every day and that it's just not natural and we wash away our natural pheromones and it's sad. Oh, college :D) Sometimes I smell like vanilla. I tend to use vanilla body wash and shampoo and sometimes body spray... I just really like vanilla, man :D
  20. I hadn't seen that protestwarrior.com site before - I enjoyed reading through the logo's. Not that I'd buy any of them... but... interesting :D Now, MATH T-SHIRTS :D http://www.cafepress.com/buy/math/-/pv_ ... _/c_/hlv_t http://www.scienceteecher.com/crossproduct.htm Yay :D
  21. Evilperson: :| How could he use three lifelines and still get it wrong? Surely asking the audience would have made the answer clear... I hope!!!
  22. WOW, some people are stupid. Today outside the cafeteria, these people were asking everyone who walked by to sign this petition. I started discussing the meaning of one of their sentences with them (Hey, I don't like to sign something if I don't know what it means!) and they seemed surprised. It's amazing how many people assume that petitions, because they're rebelling against some sort of supposedly unjust authority, are automatically good. GIGGLE :D Oh, BlueTear, I miss your posts. :D
  23. The difference, however, is that the "progressive" social liberal politics are based on MORE freedom, instead of limiting people based on your own system of morals, which not everyone may agree with. The only system of morals the liberals tend to agree on is more choice for the individual. Except gun control, on which the "liberal" opinion is slightly out of the blue. And I disagree personally with abortion, because murder is another category... BUT! Overall, it's really social conservatism that is threatening to liberty at the moment, not social liberalism. Wanting to allow people the marriage (surely a very personal choice) they choose? Wanting to allow people to choose whether or not they want to die quickly and painlessly (surely a very personal choice) when they're already dying? This is really the wrong forum for this debate, so I'll stop now. Liberalism has always been about expanding choice. Conservatism also has, traditionally, in the past! But not during this past presidency. :(
  24. I guess I'm alright living in the US - at least, the NYC area. It does feel like home. I don't like the way the mainstream of the country is going, however... sorry barihawk :D I feel that even the Republican conservative party is changing - it's not so much about economic conservatism anymore as it is about social conservatism, tying in religious morals, and bending the rules of legality to increase executive authority, which bothers me far more. ANYWAY, I'd really like to live in Prague :D Oh, Czech Republic, how I love thee :D Or at least somewhere in Eastern Europe, maybe Hungary or Austria or something. I'll hopefully be studying abroad in Budapest, Hungary in a year and a half!! 8)
  25. I was a big fan of them, they were well-done :D
