  1. I agree with insane :D HUGS!!!!
  2. Um, a lot. I cry easily :(
  3. It's helpful to remind them of anecdotes that showcase who you are - memorable things that make YOU special. Admission committees will see your GPA and SAT scores regardless, so it's silly for the teacher to say "This student did well in my class." Make sure they know YOU personally, and try to have them highlight that :D
  4. Hehehe... I like "lostpalmtree" :D I'm mad4u689 because I've had it for ages and it has numbers in it. I wanted to get my new screenname that I use for stuff (madjoy) but it's taken. :(
  5. Even if it's harder, you'll only be compared to other people... if everyone gets a slightly lower score, that'll surely be considered. And there were too many 1600s and similar (I had close to it, and I'm stupid) on the old test.
  6. lol thats what my schedule is going to look like senior year pretty much, all AP this year (junior) AP Chem Honors English 3 French 4A AP CalculusBC Intro to Java Phys Ed 2 I wish my school had AP Chemistry made available. I'll try to take the AP Calculus [bC] exam but I'll have to study on my own since the current class only covers AB items  Physics seems to be my most challenging course this year, just because the teacher is insane. I doin't usually blame things on the teachers, but her grading is really offbeat. Tests/quizzes are 80% of the grade, homework 10% and labs are 10%. So, if you mess up even a bit on a test/quiz, you're pretty much done for. Just make sure what you're getting yourself into  Studying for Physics is taking up a lot of my time which I planned to use for scholarship stuff, applications, etc. so be sure you're not overwhelmed :) A lot of colleges give the same placement whether you take the AB or the BC calc exam. AP classes are fun and so worth it :D I never took (AP) chem though, so I have to take intro chem in college.

Yeah - I was quite impressed with the sound quality. Like dusqi said, better than other programs I've tried... and if you have a long distance relationship like I do, free computer talking is good :D As far as I can tell, I think that's what google was going for. People have been complaining that with each update to AIM and MSN, there just keep on being more intrusive advertisements and more annoying features that you dont need, that slow it down. Google's keeping it simple with easy to use chat - and that's it. Personally, I like MSN better for IMing. Still, Google Talk is useful for me for the voice chat :D

Downloaded :D I blindly accept google everything. I love you, google. :D [email protected] Btw, an interesting article from slashdot. Notice how all the slashdot geeks defend google to the death :D http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/08/24/1526252&tid=217
  10. You might want to ask for advice on collegeconfidential.com, which is designed for people applying to various colleges and universities. The specific forum for the Naval Academy is http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=89 and the forum for the air force academy is http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=85

13 right, 6 left. I'm not a musician and am very bad at music.
  12. I agree. But not all animals are used for products, some help cure the sick so these methods wouldn't work. Please list these alternative methods of testing for cures. NOT for the products but for cures. With the example I gave in an earlier post about chimpanzees being used to test possible cures for HIV, my daddy was meanwhile working on the AIDS epidemic - as an epidimiologist. That means he used and analyzed statistics to better understand how it was being spread - and thus prevent the disease before it happened. Here is a BBC link (though the BBC is highly biased in animal rights issues) about animal testing alternatives for medicine: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/hottopics/animalexperiments/alternatives.shtml A more thorough list of resources, compiled by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in the UK, is available at http://vetgate.ac.uk/browse/cabi/4cf176ed69b0c196b47fde2bc89dca93.html. However, this article (http://www.sumeria.net/health/prism.html) by a physician will probably be of most interest to you. It serves to explain the major misunderstandings about animal testing in medicine today, and how it undermines the research process. I don't necessarily endorse these websites nor agree with everything they say; hey, I just found them on google :D
  13. I have an idea on how to stop it too :D, and guess what - most people would be perfectly happy :D It involves information that can be found at http://www.allforanimals.com/alternatives1.htm If you don't believe me and want DETAILS about such alternatives, visit that site, or do a simple google search for "animal testing alternatives" and see how many results come up.
  14. Your post started out okay. It makes me sad that people like this make vegetarians look bad. But then you started saying testing on animals is alright. And you blindly insulted PETA. Why is it that PETA is always such a target? Yes, there are extremists (extremists : animal rights activists :: Hamas : Muslims) in PETA who do things most members shudder at. But as an organization, PETA itself doesn't do crazy things, and most members just want to protect animals' rights! Do you really think animal testing is alright? When they were doing testing for drugs for HIV in the late 80s, everyone thought animal testing was OK because HIV is so bad. But do you have any idea what they did to the chimpanzees they were testing on?? They were kept in tiny cages, unable to move, and intentionally infected with HIV so that they could see the effects of drugs on them - when in fact, HIV did not affect the chimpanzees in the same way and the research was utterly useless! Chimpanzees were treated cruelly and most of them died in the process, not because of being infected with HIV, but because of the awful conditions and the fact that people didn't care about them. (Even though their cognitive abilities are impressive compared to our own - did you know that those taught sign language spontaneously use it to talk to each other in conversation, just like humans do?) And then PETA workers tried to expose what was happening in these "animal testing" facilities, and all they get is anger and BS from people who don't understand the issues at all. Animal testing must stop - there are alternative methods of research that work just as well or better, and don't harm innocent CONSCIOUS beings.
  15. My thoughts: The math section is much improved. I liked quantitative comparisons, but the new math does a much better job of involving logic and testing APTITUDE and innate problem solving ability than the old math section. This makes it harder for people who have just studied a lot in math to get 800s - there were too many 800s on the old exam. As for the added writing section, it doesn't make a big difference. Most competitive schools already required the Writing SATII in addition to the regular SAT and weighted it pretty much equally, so it really was a logical move. Getting rid of the analogies, even though I thought they were fun, was probably a good idea. There was too much randomness associated with whether you happened to know that particular vocab word or not. It didn't do a good job testing vocabulary, only whether you knew a few words that appear on most tests. The only problem to me is that now when students say their SAT scores, it's biased in favour of the more verbal and humanities oriented students, and doesn't showcase math/science geniuses, because 2/3 of the test is verbal and writing. It also puts internationals and those for whom English is not a first language at a disadvantage.
  16. You, sir, are a DORK :D That owned :D You rock :D
  17. Though from the information I have, I'm not sure I agree with your decision to mock-break-up with her, may I say to the people harassing you: shush up and be nice. :D
  18. ^^ Good advice :D Works for memorizing pi / random bio terms/ historical events / etc :D
  19. How's your life going? :D School, love, etc? Update us :D
  20. I'm going to college, and we don't confirm our classes until orientation in a week, but my tentative schedule is: a Language (linguistics) seminar Psychological Science seminar Behavioural Neurobiology, intro class Psychohistory of the Modern World Principles of Chemistry, honors intro class I'll probably drop one of them, I don't want to overload by taking five classes first semester - most people take four :)
  21. Btw: When I drink stuff, I only drink soda. I don't quite brush my teeth super-regularly. I've never had a cavity :D Thoug lately I've started only drinking diet soda because I'm a girl and I don't want to be fat and ugly for my boyfriend. :D
  22. Should the government start to have more regulation over the internet? That's the question, and a lot of people like their freedom. But eventually it's probably inevitable...
  23. Link works now :D Hmm, that's really interesting. Way in the future, maybe it could replace passwords, but for now, I think memorizing our series of letter/number combos is going to stick. :D
  24. Kinda off topic, but this if Off Topic - I love the subject. I don't know why, it made me happy. The epitome of ownage. You, sir, are the epitome of ownage :D
