Getting Into College
If you're going for a more competitive college or for a liberal arts college, they want to see extracurriculars - whether they be sports, leadership in school clubs, etc. If you want to go to a state school, which you say you do, then they tend to have too many applicants to look at much besides your raw data (grades, SATs, etc). However, I'd suggest keeping your options open! Really - the reason some schools like to see extracurriculars in their applicants is because it does you good. Leadership now makes it easier to adjust to being in an office, or whatever job, later in life.

World War III?
That's not true - there are other reasons that everyone in the school might hate you. Think back to when segregated school systems was a big issue in the USA, and the Little Rock fiasco - the few black kids who were integrated into the school. They were being escorted by the most powerful people (like Israel and the US), but everyone in school hated them and treated them terribly and tried to beat them up anyway. It's called prejudice. I don't think the USA is merely trying to drag things out as long as possible. The USA is asking not for a ceasefire, but for a SUSTAINABLE CEASEFIRE. Israel has a government and a leader who can legitimately call a ceasefire; however, if Hezbollah declares a ceasefire, independent terrorists will still attack and nothing much will change, and innocent Israeli citizens will continue to die. Thus, an immediate ceasefire would be a ceasefire in name only, and utterly disadvantageous for Israel. this is why the phrase "sustainable ceasefire" isn't just political jargon but a legitimate policy. One that hasn't been working very well, mind you, but legitimate nevertheless.

Why don't people spend more on jewelry?
Alright... I was really negative before, so I'll revise myself slightly. I think that if you have a friend or partner who likes jewelery... then getting them jewelery is fine :D Because you are showing you care about what they want, and want to please them. However, I guess I just think it's something your friend or partner shouldn't care about in the first place :x. But I'm always a fan of being nice to friends and getting them presents that they really wanted :D If they wanted it, then it IS a symbol of love. :)

World War III?
I think that pianofreak's analogy is the better one. However, the main difference between the analogy and the actuality is that a country isn't a person. A country has a government, and it is the duty of that government to protect its citizens. If Hezbollah is sending rockets to kill Israeli citizens, the Israeli government is contractually obligated (according to most political theorists) to afford its citizens whatever protections it is capable of. If Israel was intending to cause as much damage as possible (which is the intention of Hezbollah and terrorists) they could have caused FAR more deaths. I'm not saying Israel has been as restrained as it should have been, but it is showing at least some restraint. They're not trying to kill everyone. They're just failing to adequately avoid unnecessary killings. Though I shouldn't say "just failing." It's a serious problem, and one I think the Israeli government better remedy ASAP, because the deaths of more innocent civilians is intolerable - even if Hezbollah's strategy is to try to hide in populated areas to FORCE the death of innocent civilians in order to make Israel look bad. Israel shouldn't give into their strategy.

Why don't people spend more on jewelry?
Also, it's stupid to not save up and spend all your money as you use it. You never know when you might need the money for something important, i.e. a life-saving hospital operation. Or if you save up, you might be able to buy something even better... like a house. :\

Why don't people spend more on jewelry?
Because jewelery is useless. A real diamond isn't any prettier than a fake one, so why should it cost so much more? I hope that when I (hopefully) get proposed to, he gives me one of those 25 cent plastic rings from a little machine :D And then we can spend more money a truly delicious and enjoyable meal :P

Alright guys, have you ever shaved?
I'm not a big fan of hairy guys :x I'm female, and I always shave my armpits... but I often don't bother with my legs for a couple of months at a time. I go to a hippie uni anyway, so no one cares :D

We totally pwn3d Ghost!
Haha - he means he was asleep when I found out. The best part of this story is that the night before, I was working till about 2 in the morning and when I walk out to my car to leave, my girlfriend and her friend had post-it noted my car a little bit and tied balloons to it. So I take everything off (not that much compared to what Brad did) and drive home and go to bed. Then my parents come in to freaking wake me up and they're like, "Brett! You have to come look at what someone did to your car." I was like, "Mom, it was Rachel and I saw it last night, leave me alone." We got in a little argument about who did it (because she knew Brad had also done it) and so I got up to go look at it. ... I couldn't stop laughing. You have no idea how awesome that looked in person. It looked like my car had been freaking painted. So I got my car post-it noted TWICE on one birthday (Brad's was the superior of the two) and now there are little prints all over my car. I need to get it washed. Who votes Brad chucks out the $5 for me to wash my car? That is AWESOME :D Glad it was a happy birthday... :P

It's okay. Thanks for the apology, it's accepted :D! As far as I know, Jews are taught to respect other religions... never to try to convince others to convert, but to let them be... though I think most religions are supposed to agree with the "respect other religions" bit and it's just individuals who fail miserably at that :(

Outrageous things you thought as a kid
I used to think when I was a kid, that there might be one giant being of consciousness... and it would just switch back and forth among every single person in the world, but each person would only have their own memory... so "I" was just a collection of lots and lots of instants, but there was just one real consciousness. I guess it was just because consciousness struck me as this big, crazy thing - that I was MYSELF, but that everyone else had a SEPARATE "myself"... it just didn't seem plausible. I was a weird kid. :x

Best Day of Summer Vacation '06
Probably this one day I spent with my friend in Manhattan (New York City) We went to the free Summerstage concert in Central Park... everyone completely let loose and was dancing like wild, so relaxed, it was all about the movement :D And it was incredibly hot out, and we were all hot and sweaty, and then it just started RAINING :D, but it felt so good... And we were just dancing, with no worries, in the rain in Central Park. It was beautiful. Then we went to the Met Museum of Art... and out to a concert in the East Village where I got hit on by a ton of drunk guys... and at the end of the day I crashed at my friend's place and we just hugged :D

Unfortunately (for Rob Schneider), to do his (Rob Schneider's) absolutely abysmal acting skills, this is also good for Mel Gibson, as he will never have to deal with this sub-par actor bringing down a future movie that Mr. Gibson will be producing :P I don't think Rob Schneider would have been seriously planning a movie with him anyway ;) Let's just say they tend to choose... different genres... of film :P Not that I've thought too much of Gibson's movies, either :D Despite Rob Schneider's light tone, I do think he was making an (intentional) important statement, and so... I don't think it's something to only joke about.

A few words muttered against Jews?! He was drunk, and the things he said once he was free of inhibitions revealed just how anti-Semitic he is! He believes that Jews are responsible for every war, and doesn't trust them to do basic things, like be, say, police officers. Keep in mind that this isn't just anybody - this is a man who has made movies like Passion of the Christ that influence millions of viewers around the world! This is something that worries me greatly. It reveals underlying racism that is every bit as dangerous as that which causes wars. No one said Rob Schneider wasn't concerned about the war, but he's also a movie actor and a celebrity, and this is something he can actually do something and make a stand about. So good for him.
