  1. That's assuming they didn't bot their way to the cape to begin with. ... or otherwise cheat to attain it ...
  2. I am having no luck keeping the sound running at the moment. At times it works when I log in, then goes out. If I restart the client, it comes back on but only for a limited time. I never realized just how much i listen for sound clues to tell me what's going on in-game. Suddenly -- not having sound is really off-putting! <_< Whoa - your tech-speak is going way over my head ...
  3. I have to say that, lately, I have really been enjoying the Role-players on W42. They're up on their "lore" and some of them really getting into it, which adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game, while you're playing it. Last night, while at a fallen star with a group of people, two guys got into an "argument" over which of the gods they supported. They exchanged "pleasantries" for a fair while. After the star tubbied, they wished each other the best, and moved on. To be honest, it was probably one of the most entertaining fallen stars I've ever attended!
  4. Anyone else having sound issues in the current game? I'm getting no sounds at all ...
  5. I sense something; a presence I've not felt since ... Oh wait, it's just sarcasm.
  6. I believe the abyssal demon mask is gone, however you can still get the gargoyle and jadinko masks. Actually, no it's still out there. I got one just last week. Now to actually take the time to use the damn thing ...
  7. I toyed around a little with the HTML/NIS yesterday. It's working better to be sure, but I find it difficult to believe it will be ready for next Monday. That said, I do have to say that, in some ways, I cannot but help feel a little sorry for Jagex. While in the the HTML/NIS mode yesterday, I had the misfortune to witness the type of players that appear to be "beta testing" the system. All of them running around in Torva and Phats, and none of them doing anything remotely useful in terms of actual beta testing. I was reminded of the similar situation that the EOC beta was in prior to its launch. <_< ... and yes, I do realize that the game in that mode counts for nothing and is practically unplayable, but there's gotta be something better to do than to rack up pointless virtual wealth, isn't there? Oh wait -- that's what 07-scape is all about now, isn't it? Ok - nevermind ...
  8. My cunning plan to take next week off work and go away on vacation is starting to look even more cunning by the minute ... :twss:
  9. Touché. That said, my point was, really, that it might appear to be the time that we should now create a new thread wherein we discuss the pros/cons of "All 120 Max Kills" and what can be done to provide content for it on a dedicated thread, on a day-to-day basis, rather than constantly hashing and re-hashing these discussion points spread over 50 different threads every few weeks or so. Who knows? Perhaps such a thread might turn out to be useful to the game somewhere down along the line for future development?
  10. Far be it for me to attempt to "moderate" a thread, but isn't the whole "Skills to 120" topic a little on the +1 side of this thing? And, if so, perhaps (if we don't already) we should consider the idea of starting a thread someplace where we discuss the "Skills to 120" issue and therein, perhaps attempt to provide a basis whereby we could justify the idea of moving the goal posts from 99 in all skills to 120? Perhaps we should now discuss what options are available and make suggestions as to content which might allow skill levels to be increased to 120. Ya know? It just seems to me that, time and again, we run into this same argument and other discussions keep getting sidetracked by this one …
  11. Egads - I just threw up a little ...
  12. An absolute classic. Well - I suppose we could all use a little more iron in our diets ...
  13. Ok this pic just made me LOL irl ...
  14. I am somewhat shocked that the “Seduction” skill wasn’t mentioned in the article. I mean, after all, it *was* actually mentioned at Runefest as a possible new skill a few years ago prior to the release of Dungeoneering and it has been the brunt of numerous jokes since. Well - ok - not as much as SAILING, but still ...
  15. In other words, it represents the number which is the answer to life and everything in the universe, or something... Life, the Universe and Everything. That'd be "42" ... Trust me, I know my Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I own 2 copies of that Trilogy in Five Parts, plus the movie. I would love to find the old radio shows, too. Actually -- I own a copy of the original scripts for the radio series, in addition to a VHS video tape to the TV series featuring the original radio series cast realease in 1981, the computer game, as well as copies of all the books (there's technically a sixth book now but that's "Another Thing") ... I've also got the original radio series on open reel tapes and can quote from them by rote. :-P By the way - you can find all of the radio shows on Youtube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-BbC3k0szk] -- including the newer radio series for the other books of the trilogy. They're not hard to find.
  16. I tried running the beta again for the first time in awhile on Saturday. Took forever for my i5 to load it and the best I got was 17 fps max. That was at the portal at Port Sarim outside of POP. I can run the current mode of RS on the client at 30-50 fps in almost every location. I was very disappointed.
  17. In other words, it represents the number which is the answer to life and everything in the universe, or something... Life, the Universe and Everything. That'd be "42" ...
  18. Egads, when I first read this, I thought you said you'd "want to sit with your content hanging out ..." In any event, you're absolutely right. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't get RS3 out in July.
  19. Really I don't see it - the statements are very vague, and as I noted before I'm no accountant - so was looking for you to back up what you'd said. One substantial gain on the previous year seems to be under the umbrella term "Game income", inclusive of microtransactions & subscriptions, hence my confusion and clawing for justification when you suggest microtransactions aren't the cause of the drastic increase in profits. Ok – you will note that, without specifics, the loss from 2011 relates to “exceptional administrative expenses” costs which appear to have been written off for the fiscal period ending December 31, 2011. This information can be referenced under note #3 commencing on page 16 of the financial statements. As has been pointed out before, it would appear that the corporation wrote off a huge (14M) loss (or losing venture) – more than likely some large-scale operation – in which they had invested a very large amount of time and money (i.e. “exceptional administrative expenses”), but no actual physical assets were involved. Someone mentioned that this may have been the Transformers project, but this could also be part and parcel of the other aspects of Jagex's operations. What was the "Space Game" they had been developing that never got off the table? I don't recall, but that may also be a contributing factor here. It is also important to note here that, the fiscal period ending December 31, 2011, is only a 9-month period (commencing, it would appear, as of April 1, 2011) and would therefore not include, for whatever reason, the influx of “game income” from subscriptions which would have occurred when they brought back the Wilderness and Free Trade on or about February 1, 2011. I cannot be sure how much more this would have increased their bottom-line for the 12-month period ending December 31, 2011, but one could probably look into it. As such, you’re seeing what appears to be roughly an average of approximately 800K increase in monthly earnings over the comparative fiscal periods, however, you’re not seeing the entirety of what the corporation earned, or may have earned, for the 12-month period ending December 31, 2011. The employee related issue is further clarified under note #4 commencing on page 17. It is interesting to note that, despite the fact that they employed 18 fewer employees for the fiscal period ending December 31, 2012, they actually paid more in terms of employee wages and benefits during that fiscal time period than they had paid in the previous fiscal period – not surprising given the 3-month differential, but nonetheless significant. Basically, the point is that previous comments made totally disregard the other various aspects which could affect these numbers. To simply state that microtransactions and a shuffle of employees “caused” such a big increase in the annual income of Jagex is entirely, if not deliberately, ingenuous, and aimed at creating an argument from a non sequitur. There’s a lot more in play here than just that …
  20. Yes - that's got to be it, exactly - because goodness knows that there's absolutely no difference whatsoever between "correlation" and "causation" ... Care to expand on that? Should I have included <sarcasm> tags? Or don't you really see from the financial statements as to where the losses and gains are attributed?
  21. Wait, you want your armor to protect you from something? Everyone knows that the only point of armor is to make you hit harder. Wait, what? I thought armour was just there to let you look good!

  23. Actually - RuneQuest is an awesome game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RuneQuest Interestingly enough, it was Runescape's similrity to the original pen and paper role-playing game that drew my interest to it. Haha, they deffinitely seem to have suddenly started paying tax in the last financial year. : profit before tax 2012: £9.7m profit before tax 9 months up to 31 December 2011 £9.8m so very similar total amount of tax pad 2012: £2.5m total amount of tax paid 9 months up to 31 December 2011: £278k It seems to have magically disappeared under 'expenses not deductable for tax purposes' I can only assume all the bad press in the last 12 months about the likes of Amazon and Google made them decide to change their act. Actually, these Financial statements would appear to be a lot less “creative” if either of you understood how to actually READ a financial statement: The numbers in brackets (9,869) represent a “loss”, not a profit.
