This is not unlike a rant I made several years ago when they released "While Guthix Sleeps", only at that time my comments were aimed at the rewards portion of that quest and the fact that, while one had to complete a quests in order to wield/wear Rune Plate and the Dragon Square Shield. no such requirements were placed on Dragon Plate (and later the Dragon Kite Shield). At that time, I felt that it was a poor choice on Jagex's part to discontinue the need for certain requirements in order to gain access to specific gear. Now they want to "do away" with quest requirements in order to allow such content to become more accessible. Frankly, I cannot help but think that this is a mistake. From my experience, most people who "don't do quests" are of the type and nature that "quest requirements" aren't the reason they avoid them. They avoid quests because they don't "want" to do them. Of course, the fact that they're limiting their own game play and effectively reducing their access to half the game, entirely escapes them as well, but that's their loss ...

that is what I fear will be the ultimate killer for me, and why I don't think I will play. :/ If this is the case, expect it to become dead content in even less time than originally predicted ...

So this is just an adjustment to the completionist cape requirement, then? Pity, CW could be a lot more fun if they added some variables to it ...

Really? So this is it? This is the way the 07 game is going to be played? Not with skills but by people who make “pures” and buy-sell goods/gold in “EOC” for tradeable goods in 07scape? Is this the “nostalgia” – the “golden age” – that these people wanted? Really? Un-fricken-real …

if you could have any three fictional characters accompany you in RuneScape...
1. V - from V for Vendetta (the book not the movie) 2. Aang - from Avatar the Last Air Bender (TV Series) 3. Xena Warrior Princess

Because some people are never happy with what they have. The grass is always greener on the other side, or in this case, the grass was greener in 2007. Or as Douglas Adams said:

You know, I was going to ask him “what colour is the sky in HIS world”? Then I realized that it’d be black … Oh sure, but let me ask you this: is Peter Jackson making a trinity of movies about it?? And, if so, would you buy a ticket to see it?

Remove the percentage for all I care; so long as the toggle is there, that is what matters. That's what people will complain about. Do you want the quickpray globe with that too? This is, exactly, the point that I made pages earlier when I said, what happens if, as and when someone wants changes made to “improve” the 07 game. How is it going to be determined as to what changes get made, and what is going to happen if, as and when Jagex makes any changes, no matter how cosmetic, to the 07 game and some overly vocal minority throws a hissy over it? Point is, you either want changes as Teknofield does, in which event you don’t really want to play the 07 game, or you don’t want the changes and you’re stuck playing it as it was on August 10, 2007. From how I read what Jagex is saying, albeit what they’ve said has changed considerably day to day, is that they will set up these 07 servers, do fundamental maintenance and anti-bot measures to it (yeah right) and leave it thereafter on an “as is” basis. Personally, I think if you want the “golden age of Runescape” then [bleep]ing play the “golden age” of Runescape. Don’t be messing with the damn thing. Don’t be asking for “improvements”. Don’t be demanding that changes be made to the game which you claim “don’t affect game play”. Just play the damn thing, as it was, and either enjoy it, as it was, or don’t play it. Period.

I honestly can say that, because Runescape was never supposed to look like a WoW. Look a few graphical updates here or there, no one has a problem with them. I think the graphics until 2009-210 looked really good. But right now they look out place. -My opinion- So, in other words, what wants isn't rs2007 at all.

How about you shut the [bleep] up? Sick and tired of your bull shit. Keep it up and I'll go to the Admins. Last warning. It's not my fault Jagex bullshited us into thinking we have more than 750k individual members. Enjoy your empty EOCscape in a month or so :). Hey thanks! I'll be sure to think of you when I am boss killing and doing Grandmaster Quests in High Def HTML5 while you're still playing an unplayable version of the game that existed 6 years ago. And good luck to you running around as a level 3 trying to skill and train amongst the bots! Be sure to drop by from time to time and let us know how epic it is to cut logs with 100 low-def bots who all look alike. Be sure to keep us posted regarding your amazing PKing adventures in the "golden age" with the same PKing community as exists now. You're welcome :D! Enjoy those spam bots @ the G.E. Enjoy those bots chopping magic logs with you. Enjoy those Green Dragon bots!! Enjoy your splitted community!! Why would I cut magic logs when I could cut Ivy? Why would I sit idle at the GE when I could boss kill? Why would I go to Green Dragons when there's hundreds of more viable ways to make money? It's small wonder you don't enjoy EOCscape -- you've no idea how to play it! Oh - and it will only be "splitted" community for a month or less. :^_^:

Let's say we average 15 votes per minute over the next 10 days: 15*60 = 900 900*24 = 21600 21600*10 = 216,000. 216,000 + 200,000(current votes) = 416,000. So yeah. That's how I see it. Could be much less however. Hey he provided a caveat this time -- "Could be much less however."

I don’t think this has much to do with the input from stockholders at this point. More than anything, this is Jagex’s way of placating a certain vocal minority. We have been done to death, time and again, listening to people spout on about “the golden age of Runescape”. Well – here’s their opportunity to relive it, once and for all – and I say, “good on them”. Let them have what they want. In fact, I may even vote in favour of it, just to see them through to it. As I see it -- the more votes they get the more likely Jagex can offer this service for free – much the same way they did with RSC – and, as was done with RSC, they can re-launch the older version of the game and let the vocal minority wreak havoc on it for a while, until such time as said vocal minority comes to the realization that the old game isn’t all that they remember it to be, stop playing it, and move on – either to EOCscape or away from the game altogether. Logic dictates that in doing so, Jagex can get one monkey off their back and, in the meantime, lure back some long-time former players who yearn to re-live the golden-age. As far as Jagex is concerned, hopefully, eventually, those that finally realize there never was a golden age to begin with will return to the current game which, by that time will have the new HTML format and all other the bells and whistles that go along with it. It’s really rather clever. To be honest, this ploy is not unlike something I do, as a parent, when dealing with my children. Sometimes, after all their nagging, and listening to all their nonsense about how they know better than I do, I simply let them do whatever it was they wanted to do, and then bide my time and wait for them to come around and express their disappointment about that which I already knew they weren’t going to enjoy. Sometimes, it’s so easy, I don’t even bother saying, “I told ya so”.

I think it'll be the complete opposite. Botting will be epidemic in 2007 servers as people too impatient in the race to the top cheat their way up either by botting directly on their characters or real world trading gold. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if the first whip to be claimed was done so by a botter/goldfarmer and sold for irl money. This is, of course, one of the aspects that will likely happen. The other issue is, of course, the problem with re-building the game's economy. With everyone starting at scratch and no gear and/or items that can be bought and sold except through the old-fashioned "bank sale" format, it's pretty much going to be DIY for a while. Everyone is going to have, essentially, the same goods and materials as everyone else and no money. As such, there will be little, if any, player to player trading going on. This was the same issue that happened when they reintroduced RSC. As a result, you're going to have people buying and selling crap in the stores again, which means that sold goods will plummet in value and bought goods will rise. No one will make money and everyone will be poor and [bleep]ing about it. Ah well, I guess some people will enjoy this system, like the 120 or so people still playing RSC daily ... Im assuming rather than gold trading it'll be resources. Like my 50 logs for your 40 ores. Which is quite nice. As it suits both players trading. Yeah - that worked so well after the relaunch RSC, didn't it? Sure, yeah - and how long will it take for the 100 or so of you who will stick it out to get to those levels?

And it's gonna be dang good to have that back! Profitable skilling, that is! Tell me, how is "profitable skilling" going to happen, exactly, when no one has money and everyone has pretty much the same skills? And, as an aside, I am not objecting to them bringing back the 07 servers -- in my opinion, doing so will have the exact same effect as when they brought back RSC. Everyone's going to realize that that version of the game is unplayable and everyone's going to shut up about "how great it used to be" and move on ...

But what if a vocal minority wants changes made? Or if they don't want the ease of use features added? What happens then? How is it to be determined that such changes are or are not to be made? There's always someone - there's always a group - who will say, "Ya know, it'd be better if it had 'X' ..." And when they don't get it, they throw a hissy over it. How do you propose this be handled?

So here's my question to all you 07 fanboys out there: after you get your 07 servers and they take it live for you -- then what? Do they simply reset the game at that level and leave it? No changes made ever, other than some basic anti-bot measures (yeah right) and some glitch fixes? Leave the game, as it was as of August 10, 2007? Or do you want them to make changes and improvements to it? If so, how is it to be determined as to what changes are to be made? How should they be implemented? Will it only be the changes and improvements that the "majority" of fanboys want? What happens if they make a change and then a rather vocal minority goes guano-crazy and starts riots over it? Then what? Should they undo the change? Or maybe you'd prefer they make ANOTHER server for that change only? Honestly, I don't see this thing as being very well thought through.

*Goes to vote yes just because realizing this* (Not really) It's going to be so much fun to see the players complain about that. "You wanted 2007 scape, well you got it!" I was mostly indifferent to randoms... it was rare for the lethal ones to pop up when you were at low health. But god it was so funny when it happened to someone else and everyone jumped on the pile Oh yeah! Speaking of that, there were no gravestones back then. Back in the day, my friends and I used to cut mages at the old Wizard Tower, South of Seers. We used to get all variety of random events with such regularity that we used to ignore them and wait for them to get angry, then lure them into the Wizard's Tower and lock them inside. Our record for most creatures in the tower at one time was 7: three drunken dwarves, two Hydes and two Highwaymen. Problems arose a short time later when, one of the fellows, having forgotten he had already locked one of the Dunken Dwarves in the tower attempted to lock another random event creature therein ...
