Okay, the results of the battle was that we repelled the British conquest of Europa, The Unity has sustained heavy damage, we have captured a Colony ship(Destoryer I think) and a Heavy Destroyer both of which suffered major damage, our aid from the Commonwealth either retreated or died, we picked up additional refugees, we are able to salvage wreckage from the battlefield, Echo escaped using the british attack as a distraction, and there was an unusual occurance aboard the Unity. ...DGOZLLJ Oxplee... Mostly its an issue that we cannot physically build that many ships at once, and they all will take quite some time to make. Also, I will not be able to attend this session.

Well one major Problem is that I am almost certain that we cannot possibly pay the going rate for mining ships, there is alot of demand for more resources and a very small supply of ships to get them. also who would even sell them to us in this situation: British - they cant produce enough resources to provide supplies for themselves and the Commonwealth survivors, would mark up vessel prices astronomically and insist in payment in resources not credits. Commonwealth - they are currently starving and living on goodwill and stripping vessels, at best we may be able to purchase a used combat vessel at its original KT value, remove 3 bays for recycling and install grinders and a refinery Russia - Do I need to explain? Swiss - Probably would sell to us, if we had any clue where they are and had a way to contact them America - Seems like they are more or less dead Argentina - probably dead, as all of their holdings were in the near earth area My proposed solution: The "HURRY! WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING FAST OR WE WILL HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS! I DONT CARE WHAT THE NAME IS, JUST GET THAT DESIGN DONE!" class Modified Escort Modified Escort Hull - 7 bays, basic armor Bridge Life support Grinders pt I Grinders pt II Refinery Ion engines Cargohold The HWNTDSFOWWHMPIDCWTNIJGTDD (from now on called the Nonsense) is intended to be the most efficent mining vessel possible in terms of cost and output. Other solution: Applied Reletivity - load the people we cant support onto intersystem equipped vessels with enough supplies for 1 month, have them travel into deep space at reletevistic speeds for 10 days of their time then turn around to return. this will effectively just delay the problem of feeding the people for a few years if we are lucky, at which point we should have a higher mining capacity (I suggest only sending volunteers and offering them better than normal rations for going) Novel solutions (these are absolutely crazy ideas which I do not support) Project Genius Animus Machina- if through some luck every single person we rescued happens to be a researcher, have everyone together research the 2490 levels of AI tech to finish this project, and then allow me to carry it out at which point all the problems facing us will likely be dealt with in a timely manner Maintenence Accident - 'Accidentally' flip the bypass switch on Asgard's life support during routine maintence and 'forget' to return it to its normal position when finished. The Guide MKII - Hope someone from the future of another timeline modified the past to have some miraculous occurance happen to resolve this issue. The Historical Society - Develop technology to travel back in time and either: -A. Settle the Earth in the Past -B. Jump back in time 1 second and steal all of our resources bringing it back to our time, and repeat every second. (dont worry about the other timeline, as they will just end up stealing it from yet another timeline) if we are lucky we are the first timeline to do this and we will end up with a net increase of resources. Press Gangs - Build bare bones bases of living quarters and life support on asteroids, fill up to capacity and manufacture tools similar to those from 180 years ago, and have the people mine for resources

Well, 45-55C is around the normal temperature of your model of laptop when its not idle ,from the information I can find, so its probably not an overheating issue. (the information I've seen include it running at 80-90C with a dusty heatsink at full load) As it is only Runescape that seems to not work for you I would suggest re-installing Java, and updating your graphics drivers.
-
As Always I am just looking into a concept for creating a vessel and I do not know if we actually have the tech to carry through the design, instead I make more of a Wishlist to summarize the concept (in this case a high speed transport vessel using stealth technology). I would assume that Quantum Engines are more expensive than Ionic engines which is one reason they would not be ideal for the Station, given that putting engines on the space station was for general mobility for mining purposes and very minor dodging the extremely low speed is suitable for the price of the engines. I personally would assume that making the station worthy of Inter-System travel is both infeasable and inadvisable, as trying to use a hyperdrive on it would either cause a Spontaneous Mass Existance Failure or cause the station to blow up. (this would likely happen even with major navigation within the system as its mainly an issue of us turning the Base that we got allowed being a base to turn into an extremely large vessel)
-
Well, just to let you know I did figure out a possible solution to dealing with our property in the Sol System for 1000kt (possibly with an additional 150kt charge depending on the current systems of the Station) and one bay aboard the Unity (plus either 1 or 2 bays aboard the station), during the Unity's 11 year lack of contact. Additionally I am going to investigate the creation of a new line of Vessels: the Wayfarer Class Stealth-Lightning Transport: Escort Hull - Stealth Armor -Hull slots: -~Master Computer -~Cloaking lv 11 -~Shields lv ? -~Quantum Engines x5 -~Empty slot x2 ~-~ small Cargo configuration - 2x Cargo Bays ~-~ Mixed cargo configuration - 1 Cargo Bay, 1 Misc Bay ~-~ Large cargo Configuration - Misc Bays x2 ~-~ Passenger configuration - Crew Quarters, Life Support, replace Master Computer with Bridge -Weapon Slots -~Point Defence Blaster lv 5 X2

I would personally suggest Zetaboards over Invisionfree if you do not have experience with Invisionfree, as Invisionfree's copy of Invision's forum software has been out of official support for ages and Zathyus Networks has atleast partially dropped support for Invisionfree due to their release of Zetaboards. Zetaboards is reletively easy to use when running your own board, unless you are trying to make custom Modifications to the board which is not a beginner level task no matter what forum software you use, however you can find plenty of alternative forum skins and mods through the official support forum.

Well, I can confirm that Rise of Nations works in Windows 7.(I repurchased the original and expansion pack on a 1 DVD set last week as my brothers misplaced the original disks) Out of all the software I have tried to use on a Windows 7 machine, the only types of programs I have found to not work are poorly supported device drivers, such as Texas Instrument's TI-84 interface drivers (works in the XP VM) or a 2001 Canon scanner driver (simply doesn't work at all), of course that is excluding all the software that didn't work on Windows XP in the first place.

Look at the back of your desktop and see if there is more than one port that fits your monitor's cable, if so try plugging it into the port that is not next to the USB ports if your computer has those on the back. (AKA, plug the monitor into the graphics card not the motherboard. I've done it myself when putting a computer back in a spot where I couldn't actually see the back of it)

AI Quips: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factory_tour AI Reminds: There was no factory floor on the lift panel, and the military...or indeed Alieness, of the base has yet to be confirmed. In addition, wooden doors and door knobs tend to inspire a connected and lively organisation, as opposed to a funcional system. Also, I have been reminded it is my Birthday on Monday...So I won't be running a session that day... So Sunday, Wednesday and then break for Christmas, returning to normal on the 27th(Monday)? Or Tuesday, Thursday, Monday? If anyone has any preferences please say. Alas they dont seem to be offering any tours anymore if they ever did. okay, the Alien nature of this base is not proven, though its likely as its not often humans encrypt every single thing in a base with an annoying cipher intended for visitors. On the Military Point I have to disagree and say that its obvious this base has some involvement with the military due to the fact that 1/4 of the Base is clearly labeled as Zone B Military Personal. Also unless the Icecream and drink factories are in another location on this planet, asteroid, or object the pamphlet suggests that this is the factory. That schedule should work, though I will be busy part of the day on sunday when I am heading home for break. no real clue on wednesday yet. On the entire doorknob issue: "Curse you doorknobs! you will rue the day you were invented for what I will make you suffer!" - Drake Zarr

Okay I am confused: we are currently being attacked by killer moss/mold/whatever and Mass effect type Husks on a multipurpose space base that is an alien military base, Research Base, Ice cream Factory, drink factory, and Arboreum(SP?) that has a giftshop/visitor center in addition to those evil doorknobs? This place seems unusually friendly for a military research base, so this Glation whatever seems very friendly. They even have 2 dining locations in this place (though they are poorly spelled) unfortunately I couldn't find any nice gifts in the Visitor Information area as it seems everything is extremely moldy. If any of the biologicals with us need to use the bathroom, its the second door on the left after leaving the Cable Car. Also we should beware of the second door on the right out of the Cable Car as that is Security. Also I reccommend not hitting the upper right button on the Cable Car control panel unless Also you cut off the end of the one cable car button's label: you have it listed as Rnv*eteas*lneLodaap* , when it should be Rnv*eteas*lneLodaap*rbmDcseeh I have managed to figure out all of the documents save one which when translated results in a general pile of impossible letter sequences.(the pamphlet in the visitor information area) Long story short I have learned this Alien language in practice, though I am wondering whether this would translate over to a mechanical knowledge of the language.(IE not having to go through the annoyingly tedious process of translating.) Also I am currently using around 100 nanites with direct control in order to slow the progression of the killer mold/moss/whatever in Farnsworth. I did not simply reprogram the nanites mainly because field reprogramming nanites to combat an unknown substance is almost certainly going to end up having something horrible go wrong with it.

Yeah, the one thing is that those puzzles are incredibly easy to solve if you know how as there are a few simple rules that give an answer. Those 'Random' occurences seem a bit unusual, though I am more or less happy with what I got (though skill ranks would in theory have been nice). If anyone really wants to get rid of these effects after the ship fund runs out of money I guess I could loan funds to the ship fund at that time. What effect does it have on an AI if they suffer copy or move errors without any Merits? Also since I am unable to pursue Jormungand (PF), perhaps I could pursue Jormungand (MA) with one of research points. Jormungand (MA) - Aquanite Alloy, a highly flexible (same reason as Jormungand (M)) material that can alter its buoyancy without use of compressed gasses or increasing in size, and is ideally non reactive with most fluids.

to join the research party I would like to make one final attempt at my puzzles(which I had reqested be changed several sessions ago and would still like): lateral thinking: the owner of the skeleton died due to being attacked by the pack of wolves which are currently eating his body (he died due to their hunger) Identification: Someones behind/following me If I got either one of r Both of these correct I would like to spend the points on the concept of Jormungand (PF) which is described below, if the research would actually provide tangible benefits particularly in the quality part of the project.. Well there are two answers to this question of yours: Actuality: Wasn't quite as fun as a normal session, mostly becuase Drake was largely useless due to his lack of combat ability and personality and this being a largely direct combat mission. Also its a matter that he is trying to pay for Project Jormungand (MP-C) to finish off the Jormungand (MP-T) main series, and dieing wont help. Theory: This type of mission has a great deal of potential if the missions are refined and provide a bit more of a mixture of possible contributions, or upon completion of the Jormungand (MP-T) core series Now onto assorted other things: A message from Drake to the Rest of the Unity's Crew: "I am afraid that I am unable to Rejoin you aboard the Unity at this time, as I have some business to finish before returning. I do not expect to require pickup, as I believe I can make my own way back to the Unity. Also Jeremiah, I believe I will be able to assist you remotely with project Obsidian remotely if I can get someone aboard the Unity to assist with the physical portions of the the process, though I first will have to check if its possible." (I wont be there tonight.) Arch, any news on my training/merit request? Also, will Drake ever get an Analysis/psyche eval from the AI? As usual, I am unable to attend on Monday, but this time I was wondering if besides the bit of help Drake will be giving Jeremiah, I could spend it training the skill we discussed right before you left, and I will spend up to 2500 merits on the skill. Actually, no they weren't disabled by the flashbang, they were locked in the comms room with Theros at the time, and Drake was attempting to use them to interface with the comms room computers to unlock the pistons. Not like it really matters as I am not stupid enough to send 5 'people' running into a hostage situation.

Not exactly sure what you think I am being secretive of... but just to cover all the bases that I can reasonably: I have announced all the tech that I have developed except for 2 items, one of which is Jormungand (m) which in general use is more or less worthless (you do have access to the stuff if you do find the record of the research), and the other is the Jormungand (F) weapon system that is too dangerous for use by humans or non-specialized robotics (the one actual important use of Jormungand (M)) and is probably impractical for use as vessel weapon. All of my tech can be used by the rest of the crew except for the Computer Virus - Jormungand (V) and the Jormungand (F) weapon system both due to the massive danger their misuse poses to the crew. Currently my business relations with the Swiss consist of performing Mining research to aid them in their war effort, in exchange for services related to Jormungand (MP-C) and Jormungand (A) at a later date. In terms of my possesions, no one may use them except myself as everything I own was funded from my personal accounts, including my Holodroids and various items relating to Jormungand (A), and in the near future Jormungand (MP-NC). Anyone wanting to use holodroids without my permission may fabricate their own. Primarily Project Jormungand is the only subject that I will not fully disclose to the general crew but to be honest and make things clear: Jormungand (A) - Classified, arranging for services pertaining to sub-project with the Swiss -Jormungand (V) - Computer Virus intended for use by (A) - access restricted [security/safety] Jormungand (MP-C) - Classified, arranging for fabrication services with the Swiss -Jormungand (E) - Anti-Plasma fire supression system initially designed for use in MP-C - similar system currently installed aboard the ISS Unity -Jormungand (F) - specialised weapon system for use in MP-C - Design Access restricted [safety] -Jormungand (M) - special material designed for use in MP-C Jormungand (MP-NC) - Classified, Design requires finishing touches before initial fabrication run Co-Captain Jeremiah has been briefed on Jormungand (A) and Jormungand (MP-C), and possibly Jormungand (MP-NC) (If I forgot to tell you about MP-NC feel free to ask) Edit, if there is anything not related to Project Jormungand atleast try asking before calling me secretive.

Yeah, I personally agree that my weapon would have to be an absolute last resort in this situation, but it would likely kill everything. my logic against the time distortion burst not working against zombies is that it works on a system of spontaneously aging everything within its area of effect: shields instantly drain energy required for long term use without sufficent power, stresses mechanical components, and causes instant dehydration in humans. I personally do not see how it would effect your typical zombie, but I was meaning more along the lines of: Why on earth attach a Dead Man's Switch to something that will kill everyone else in the boarding party when it goes off? Are you trying to make it a situation where we have to sacrifice ourselves to keep you from dieing because letting you die gets us killed anyways? if so, Drake's most likely course of action would be to sprint back to the shuttle and return to the Unity even if it required hacking the shuttle (He's an Science officer untrained for combat, without any method to not die from the burst (Jormungand c would solve that) and as he is the one who designed the thing He knows what it is capable of)
-
Wow, that session seemed like it would have been extremely fun, and happened to have a few situations that would have really turned out better if Drake was there. Jeremiah, Never Ever rig the time distortion burst with a Dead man's switch again, as it just so happens it would kill all the other crew members, and likely not damage zombies. Also I wonder if I should deploy my secret weapon system for this mission, especially as it would probably be super effective against everything that has been faced so far, however it is also highly dangerous to be used (which is why I will not allow anyone to build the thing without my permission, and I would require it to be dismantled after the mission [since I am sure you will insist on me saying why this mystery tech is so dangerous: in a simulation eliminating 4-5 un shielded un armored targets in the Unity's cargo bay, using around 3% of the fuel did in excess of 12% structual damage to the bay as splash damage. during those test runs it only lost to the Time distortion burst in terms of destruction, as the time distortion burst literally vaporised the entire test enviornment except for the thing using it.] and that the intended use for this 19 kT weapon system features around 310 kT of equipment just to make it mildly safe to use) even if proper visual systems such as a sonic visor were being used.
-
Aww... I will miss the super special mission due to having class... Well atleast do me the favor of avoiding getting Drake killed.. Also a few things: for this mission I will allow Jeremiah the ability to command and assign the 48 holobots however he chooses. (try to not get them all destroyed, and recover any parts from the broken ones if you can) Drake will deploy a specialized Jormungand virus when ordered to by Jeremiah, as long as it is not targeting the Swiss and as long as it has specific targeting (ie. not a generic destroy all computers version. It has to be designated to effect a small number of vessels/systems) Also a side note for Jeremiah: It ends up that the Time distortion Burst only operates a single time before failure, requiring it to be replaced (still an awesome weapon but more on the line of being a last resort. especially as I doubt it would require sensors to fire as its an area of effect weapon).

I will try to be on sometime around the 7PM (1pm for me) time, though I cant guarentee as I have a somewhat unknown schedule for dealing with a few things. overall its not really important for me to be there as I was simply acting in a support role.
