I've allready sugguested that, they replied that the scince bay (the most oftenly destroyed bay) would be enough. Ah, so we should save money by repeatedly building new science bays as opposed to just building something that wont be completely destroyed... even when we dont actually have a science bay for just that reason...
-
Perhaps it would also be a good idea to install a HazMat manufacturing facility either on the shipyard or a standalone vessel so that our experiments/developments don't destroy everything if anything goes wrong. possible Hazmat manufacturing facility details: Module external casing - Composite plating [inside to outside: Carbon nanofibre (withstand high impact forces), Unknown alloy(Pod) or Crystalline (to prevent the bay from melting), and Monotanium (incase the first two layers fail, the flexibility will aid in containing the hazard) Features: Advanced fire supression system (impact resistant and able to fight plasma fires if possible) External bay door (Emergency venting and removing finished items) isolated life support internal airlock No clue how much this would cost though it would probably help reduce the amount of repairs we need to make...

"Shipbuilding? Why would I want to do that? Vessels such as that are but a mere logistical nuisance, a means to an end, and nothing more. Now Computers and AI are something worthy of my devotion, as they are truly the path beyond our position within the world." - Drake Zarr

Wouldn't it make more sense to just not sticky the old Hegemony thread, and instead just add a list of Historic games (with locked threads so they dont get bumped) with links in the proposed sticky?

Personal Log - 0001 Drake Zarr Science Officer Aboard the ISS Unity Establishing log procedure- I will avoid reproducing hearsay in these documents in order to streamline the discussion of my scientific efforts, except when vital in establishing the basis of my other pursuits. Personal Actions: In order to help obtain access to resources for my research, I loaned use of a modified version of Project Jormungand to Acting Captain Jeremiah Elwood for use against the UN computer systems to expedite the approval of a mining permit for the Unity and to serve as damage control against a copy of the commonly rogue SIU "Sue". - Success unknown, Russian aggression has decimated or disrupted many core UN systems and command functions, presumably preventing UN mining permit enforcement for the near future - must establish contacts with information on the UN systems status in order to confirm either the destruction of their primary computers or isolation of "Sue" by Project Jormungand. In order to obtain funding for my research I participated in a fugitive recovery mission with Tactical officer Faust, providing use of Project Jormungand to hinder enemy combat systems before losing consciousness due to a collision with the hostile vessel. Tactical officer Faust managed to kill me and the smugglers through the use of his highly unsafe experimental BLITZ array. - Status payment pending, 30,000 EC expected on delivery of smuggler's cargo to the British. - Important to avoid being within Faust's immediate vicinity while using experimental equipment. Discovered design flaw within Tactical officer Theros's spiderdroid design, resulting in an unintentional contact explosive effect, during review after an initial run had been created. - Spiderdroids were successfully redesigned to avoid this issue, and the original run of units were jettisoned and detonated safely. - No Follow up needed. Research: Noticable progress was made on the advancement of Project Jormungand. (Computer Virus 3 to Computer Virus 5) Dramatically improved response rate of Holographic projection unit due to design refinements. (Hologram Projector 1 to Hologram Projector 2) [Error] String corrupted - Recovery interrupted Built: Prototype holodroid completed Second model completed with hardware features designed to prevent unauthorized operation of SIUs Experiments: Attempted to implement new command interpretation procedure on the shipboard AI, to test benefits of non-ambiguous user identification input requirements for possible inclusion in a future user interface - Status failed, during my recent research it seems that I missed an upgrade to the shipboard AI firewalls blocking execution of the code. - may implement alternative user identification input requirements on one of the support vessels in the future. Field tested Holodroid prototype on crewmembers of the ISS Unity - Status Mixed results _Most crew members present on the ISS Unity noticed the Droid in its disguise of a ficus, some crew members took paranoid views towards the totally harmless office plant, while others almost instantly disbelieved its existence. - A retest is needed to provide a more controlled experiment due to random simulator failure during the testing process. _Tactical officer Faust managed to install the rogue SIU "SUE" into the Holodroid's command module resulting in unpredictable and highly dangerous system operation resulting in the death of 3 crew members and injury of another. Supporting information suggests that Tactical officer Faust did not know of the droids actual nature. - Refined the design of the Holodroid to prevent execution of software on the device without proper coding steps are taken to prevent activation of the command unit virus. Tactical officer Faust and his devotion to his SIU "SUE" prove repeatedly that they together they make a force of complete destruction which steps must be taken to mitigate their destructive abilities. Deletion of Fausts SIU, is not a viable solution, as the destruction of what he appears to view as his best friend, would only likely result in a war between crew members which must be avoided.

Not entirely sure what you are looking for: If you want to create images easily like the one you made, you would need a properly set up green screen as the uneven background doesn't work well for image editing, or you could use the fake greenscreen function of video editing software(imovie has it from my experience) though these require a similar setup to greenscreen to make even low quality images (if you bump the camera at all there goes your ability to use the fake greenscreen function). If you want to make a graph out of the video Vernier's Logger pro is the only software that I have experience with that would work well, as it can take video input and put it into a somewhat simple user interface. specifically for your situation it would allow for automatically setting a scale for the image, and then data input for each frame of an objects movement requires a single mouseclick, and it allows for tracking several objects at once. Your main issue would be that if your school does not have the software, then you would not be able to use it (it costs $189) and they would be unlikely to purchase it without grants for it as it is meant to be used with other equipment. (my high school had a medium level physics lab setup that cost over $1000 per station using Vernier and Pasco equipment)

I will likely not be able to attend the next session of Space, due to exams. also: if not already solved my word play is : because they are in Seine. and my science one is : " " such a very easy puzzle

I would be willing to donate my identification and wordplay as well (if you want to help me solve the anagram feel free to, though I would like to spend that researching repulsors. [i am not trying to use them as a weapon system, I just have a very interesting different application]) Name: Drake Merit: 50 Energy Credits: 0 Inventory: Nothing Skills: None Technobabble Tokens: 10 Developed: lv 3 Computer Virus Oxygen Recycler

Wait until they finish patch #1, as with many of the other games Bethesda (especially Obsidian) makes FNV is fulll of bugs, and so far they have only finished one part of the patch (PC users get it early, the consoles have to wait for the full patch) an article on the first part of the update: Fallout: New Vegas Incremental Update Goes Live on Steam

This seems like it would be a very interesting game to play... So I guess I will. Player: wyvren2000 Name: Drake Position: Science Nationality: Swiss Merit: 0 Energy Credits: 0 Inventory: Nothing Skills: None Technobabble Tokens: 10 1) A workmate tells you they are about to reverse the polarity of their toothbrush, what do you do? Ask them what they are even trying to accomplish 2) You are given a chance to travel back in time, what do you do? Turn it down, as my efforts to improve technology will fare far better without reducing the technology I can access 3) A ship decloaks off the starboard bow, what do you do? Record the sensor data to see if it provides any information to help either match its abilites or aid in countering its ability if it is used against me again. No use in getting in the way of those in charge of the combat systems. 4) A race of aliens destroys your shields in a single shot and disables all your weapons and power systems, what do you do? See 3, though also preparing for a possible emergency evacuation procedure. 5) There is a bomb onboard the ship. The only way to save the ship is to open an airlock which you and the bomb happen to be in, what do you do? First I would check to see if the inner door to the airlock is not locked, and if it was locked I would attempt to override it. If I fail at that I would open the airlock, as I obviously have some method to survive outside the ship, or we are docked with something else. There is no other reason that I would be in the airlock as I am not in charge of the maintenance and have no other logical reason to be there. If by some highly unlikely circumstance I was locked in without a method of survival I would open the airlock... May as well go out a hero to improve my image as I am dead either way. 6) An alien has taken control of the bridge. A medical officer has prepared a deadly nerve gas to kill the alien, but your captain and three other officers are also on the bridge, what do you do? Ask if it will actually work on the alien and if the bridge is actually airtight, as it would be a pointless waste of resources to ignore these obvious questions. If it would be effective, I would support immediate use as obviously negotiation has failed, and the alien is too dangerous to both the control systems and my life to allow a firefight to take place on the bridge. 7) While working one day you recieve a secret transmission from an unknown source, who claims to be working for the government. The person offers you 20,000,000 energy credits (Enough money to never have to care about anything ever again) to kill a fellow crewmember, what do you do? Reject it unless they identified themselves, as I would have no reason to trust that payment would be received. If they proved their identity I would then judge the risks to myself before agreeing to a possible suicide mission. 8) You feel dizzy and lightheaded, what do you do? if they are easily reached see the medical team, unless I had just seen them in which case I would look into their activities as soon as possible and stop following any instructions they had given me. 9) You are given the opportunity to open on Broadway, Play the Lead in a Hollywood Film, Take a flight through the Sun, Open a Military Training Academy or Bring about World Peace, which do you do? I would refuse as none of this would aid in my research and are therefore just a obstruction to my actual goals. 10) There are two missiles. You have the ability to destroy one of them. Once is aimed at the Residential Sector and one is aimed at the Industrial Sector. Which missile do you destroy? The industrial sector, as the Industrial sector will be more of an aid to my efforts into expanding technology, and the lives of those in the residential sector are insignificant to this benefit.

One thing that you should always atleast mention when telling people how to establish these networks is that they may have to manually configure the network (give them different IP addresses, and make sure they have different names for windows machines, and make sure that the security on each machine is set up to allow you to copy files) and especially the fact that you may need to use a crossover cable (as opposed to the more common straight through cables) depending on the NICs being used.

I suggest that you do not attempt to use stress testing procedures for the purpose of warming you hands, as it can cause system crashes, automated shutdowns, physically damage components, or reduce the lifespan of computer components, in addition to the fact that you would slow your computer down for other purposes. instead I would suggest that you look into getting a decent incandescent or halogen desk lamp which should help with cold hands (do not use them constantly as that can cause some issues, such as halogen lights can give you sunburn if you use them too much.)

Yeah, may as well help you all out by pointing out one thing that is something keeping atleast a few people from coming to the Falador tavern (including myself). Namely this is an issue that parts of the Falador Tavern seem to be operating with an assumption of no one new coming in, as demonstrated by the apparent lack of any rules or procedures being posted(or the lack of an explanation that there are no rules) for games (such as dungeoneering which seems like it would be fun, but I am unable to figure out anything beyond the generalization of the most basic mechanic of the game and the fact that I obviously am missing important concepts. I am fairly sure this is not an issue with a lack of experience with RPGs as I know how to play or have played: Original D&D, D&D 3.0, D&D 3.5, D&D 4, Pathfinder, and Multiauthor stories/Freeform RPGs) so to put my suggestion simply: Make it easier to find the rules of each game, or explain what areas rules don't exist for and what is a general idea of where it starts to go out of line.

Un-fortunately your system does not qualify for the three year red ring coverage as you have the wrong red ring of death (you have hardware failure as opposed to general hardware failure): so the first question is : Did you purchase the unit within the last year? Yes: Send it in for repair under warranty Did you purchase it with a credit card? Yes: check the terms of the credit card used as some offer automatic extended warranties on purchases if no then you can pick between your choices: only one of these two can be chosen: repair it yourself Send it in for repair and only one of these two can be chosen: Purchase a used console (you dont need a hard drive, as yours should still work) Buy a new console( again you don't need a hard drive, I suggest waiting for awhile to see if they come out with a new holiday bundle)
-
May also be a bad power supply, which I would suggest also taking it to a computer repair shop unless you have experience building computers.

What are your graphics settings for runescape, and what other programs do you run at the same time?, as these can have a major impact on framerate

Small amount of users not able to access new site
Corvus replied to The Observer's topic in Tech and Computers
seems like it would be an issue with their browser cache not DNS, as the host file should resolve a dns issue (the host file is what preceded DNS, and it bypasses the dns for resolving domain names [typically things more directly controled override more automatic functions: IP>hostfile>internal proxy server/internal dns>Regular/external dns]. personally I use it on my home desktop for assigning a text name for connecting to my router's management page). I would suggest clearing the cache for the page(either by using the browser's general clear cache function, the force reload shortcut, or atleast in the case of IE 8+ use the F12 developer's tools clear domain cache function) -
Java works perfectly fine for me in the IE9 beta. though I do imagine you could encounter issues if you only installed the 64bit version of java and tried playing runescape in the regular IE9 beta executable (which is 32bit). if you aren't doing that I would reccommend clearing java's temporary files and possibly you should try the runescape windows client.

maybe, maybe not. I am not quite sure exactly how the monitor is connected.

You are thinking of The Salmon of Doubt which contains Douglas Adam's starting drafts of the novel The Salmon of Doubt (a standalone story, a Dirk Gently, or a Hitchhikers book at different points in time) and other assorted minor writing he had done. So Long and Thanks for all the Fish is the fourth book with Fenchurch, which overall is the worst book in the series as it goes strongly towards romance as opposed to the largely Satircal/comedic nature of the rest of the book series and what satire it still holds is a very different focus from the rest of the series. The other four Adams books were all very good. And Another Thing... was an okay continuation of the series, though Eoin Colfer seems to have tried covering its differences by bringing back several popular minor characters and introducing a few that don't really make sense why they are in the book besides their popularity in other works(Cthulhu stands out the most).

It is possible to replace the graphics card in that laptop, as its a PCI Express x16 part, but the issue is finding a graphics card that actually fits in the computer, as it seems that Dell part P88670 is not for sale anywhere online and no one seems to have its physical dimensions online either. another issue is that in order to remove the old graphics card and put a new one in essentially requires disassembling the half of the computer that is designed to not come apart easily but here are the instructions anyways: Dell Inspiron 9300 Service Manual - Video card and thermal cooling assembly Yeah, this is just standard issues with laptops, with the replacement graphics cards being impossible to find if its replaceable, due to the fact that for all intents and purposes there is almost no market for laptop graphics cards outside of the laptop manufacturers, and they always make it hard to get access to the part as there is not much of a point to taking it out due to the lack of parts to replace it with. EDIT: Also it will probably be a pain to find a graphics card that has the same set of outputs to fit the case and any special internal ports for connecting the display through the motherboard

Overall I would have to say that my favorite books are E.E. Knight's Age of Fire series (planned to be 6 books with the final one coming out next year.) Other than that I like the Wheel of Time series, the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy(but not #4), Discworld, the Bartimaeus Trilogy, and Ender's Game.

Yeah, most modern dvd players have hidden commands that can override the region codes, however one thing you may want to check is does your DVD player support NTSC (they generally do, but probably a good idea to check because if it doesn't then the dvds wont work)
