That's because all of the pillars are on when he's by himself. As soon as you take one off he loses the ability.

Luck is a huge factor. With a divine I've managed 71 KC only having brought 3 brews and a unicorn (this was before the ashes update, so the yak was rather pointless). My friend once went with an identical setup to mine and didn't last a single kill. Either way, the melee prayer method is an extremely poor idea on a solo. An attack that maxes at ~650 can EASILY ko you even from ~850 LP considering you have two minions damaging you as well, one of which you're extremely weak against (the ranger). It also puts a huge strain on your prayer supplies, as it takes 1/20 of whatever it hits from your prayer points as well. He doesn't use it that infrequently, either.

He never uses his special attack if a crystal is activated. As soon as he has all 3 prays he can randomly use his special attack. So 3 people behind melee crystal, 1 behind range and 1 behind mage pretty much. Oh, I guess I needed this too. I had always thought that if you deactivated ALL 3, he would use his special attack. However I KNOW that he'll use it if he can't reach any target (as in, if everyone stands behind pillars) and that it's practically a death sentence, so keep this in mind as well. No he won't. He only uses it if all the pillars are up, so just make sure to rotate them. Everyone can hide behind pillars safely, he'll just sit there looking at you.

[23rd March] Runescape Clans Annoucement
There's the stupid mistake I was looking for. Move along people, nothing to see here, just Jagex not understanding the game again.

Yeah, because in a team you'll use defender. The tank might maybe slightly do better with a CLS, but really the difference is so slight that it's not worth thinking about.

More important for the keyer to have tools and runes. :P Ooh I see. I thought it meant to just leave them there, like in case somebody with a hex wants to use them or something.

Yeah, hence the bring more brew than that, though when taking the screenshot I put more brew than usual in already so it's kind of a midpoint between a divine and non-divine inventory. So much of the inventory balance depends on luck and skill anyway that having your inventory skewed one way or the other doesn't matter that much. Get lucky with hits and you'll need more prayer, get unlucky and you'll need more brew.

"Leave table food/arrows" Huh? But we need those arrows for toolkits and runes!

It's been submitted for inclusion on the main Tip.it site. If you want, I could copypasta the entire thing here, but a lot of it is stuff you've already heard and/or stuff for teams and noobs.

NUH UH NUH UH NUH UH Rapier is better for two reasons: -It's ESSENTIAL for anticrashing. You bring a defender with you and when someone comes to crash you bust it out. If you have a CLS at that point, you are SCREWED, because rapier + def crashes the hell out of CLS + def. -CLS sucks for minion kills. Rapier saves a LOT of prayer on the minions by killing them like 15% faster.

This is what I personally take, I took that screenshot for a Zammy guide I wrote. Keep in mind that the less skilled you are, the more brew you'll need compared to restore, so you might take out 3-4 restores/supers and replace with brew.

Best effigies/h - cost
Yeah, TDs if you're GOOD at TDs, black dragons if you're not. The numbers above will quickly diminish in favor of black dragons if you're not quite skilled at TDs. For more info check out Effigyscape in the AoW if you haven't already.

I haven't noticed a significant weakness to anything. Seems to be straight up maul > longsword > rapier on her, which would be the case without any sort of weaknesses.

It matters slightly, but there are two major factors to consider. 1) You heal more the better your DPS is. 2) You get automatic full LP at the end of each kill. So killing faster is WAY overpowered. If you kill him before he can hit enough to make you eat, the amount of damage he did before that doesn't matter at all, because the minions are healing you up. If you kill him fast enough to make him get in one less hit, that's almost certainly worth a few defense points.

A wise decision. Good luck!

Aah yeah, I've seen that method done, no experience with it myself. I'm like 90% sure a godsword would do worse than rapier+defender for that, but you really ought to look into a maul if you want to see your kills/trip go up significantly.

I'm PRETTY sure a BGS has a lower slash bonus than rapier + ddef lol. So you can take your answer from that. And I gather you're using the hit and run method? If that's the case, any reason you're against full out ranging her instead? Easier and safer and more kills per TRIP and probably about the same speed given how terrible rapier is on her.

I prefer using EEE to conserve brews, since rapier hits well enough on its own that claws aren't that must-have item like they are at, say, Bandos. Without an EEE, overload running out will instantly make you waste some brew, every time, because you can't sit there at 490hp and expect not to get KOed.

What does DPH vs. DPS mean? Anyway, Zil's defense is waaay too high for a rapier. She also has such a ridiculous damage output that I wouldn't recommend melee soloing her without a CLS and elysian or divine, preferably with some torva pieces as well. It's a ridiculously difficult solo for fairly meager rewards, and your gear is not up for it.

what skill need working on next?
i have a tier 10 2 hander and a a T10 body currently bound. should i switch to rapier and kite sence i'll be fighting defensively anyway? You're stuck using strength style in dungeoneering, anything else makes your damage output ridiculously bad because of lack of berserker ring. Don't worry, dungeoneering hardly gives any combat exp anyway.

NO to the people saying to use barrows armor. Think for a second. Your major source of renewable healing here is what? YOUR damage output (soul split flashing). Bandos not only has tons of melee defense, but also improves your damage output, which means you heal more. That extra strength bonus is worth more than the extra defense. That's also part of why DFS is a good option here. Not to say that barrows isn't an option if OP can't afford Bandos, but it sounds like he already has it, and it's definitely the better option here. I also REALLY want to know what the problem with buying a DFS, using it for the task, and selling it back for the same price give or take a couple hundred k is? "I don't wanna" really doesn't give us much as far as being able to suggest alternatives, since we don't know if you're just insane or afraid of dragon faces or afraid of the GE or what.

Get a rapier is my default advice. Will help with most other stuff you could want either by letting you make money faster to buy it or by making you kill stuff faster.
