  1. Man, I've been doing it wrong. Better sell my Bandos and go buy some bronze. Anyway, I'd say if you don't have money to blow, rune plate and legs are fine. If you have a little more, a dragon skirt and granite plate is even better. I wouldn't ever bother with a d chain, since granite is so close to being as good for so much less money. If you really do need that extra defense, go for Torag's plate and just only use it when you really need to. If defense is not an issue (which is becoming more and more the case with Bunyip, Guthans, bones to peaches, etc...), a pennance fighter torso has a nice little strength bonus attached and doesn't cost millions. Obviously the best choice in most situations is Bandos, with quite good defense and a strength bonus, but that's more of a luxury item.
  2. Runescape, straight Runescape, does not download that much. I can say with relative certainty that you were using your Internet for things besides Runescape, and that those were primarily responsible for your bandwidth usage.
  3. You only download when Runescape updates, and that typically is in the low megabytes. In short, Runescape is NOT responsible for your bandwidth usage.
  4. Ah. Either way, my point stands- the programming for damage reduction is not present in the crystal shield.
  5. There's no difference. One looks different to us, but it boils down to the exact same thing, so there's no point arguing it; the only thing important is the damage/second.
  6. If you take a super set, your opponent is likely to take more damage/second, and you less damage/second, than without. If you have a steel titan, your opponent is likely to take more damage/second, and you less damage/second, than without. Sorry, what were you saying about a difference?
  7. EXACTLY, it's something that HELPS. Like potions. Let's run with that potion example for a moment here. Let's imagine a world in which you needed the appropriate herblore level to DRINK a potion. If you can't make that super set, you can't use one in a fight. Would it be fair in this case if herblore didn't affect combat level? Wouldn't a level 110 unpotted be DECIMATED by a level 110 using a super set and a prayer potion? Yes. If summoning is like potions, but they need a level (in this case summoning) to use, doesn't it make sense that it raises combat? And if you're going to argue that familiars don't help at all in combat, go fight somebody with a steel titan and see what you think afterwards.
  8. It's my understanding that the crystal shield degrades based on how much damage is dealt to YOU. So, if a monster hits a 0 on you, the shield doesn't degrade, and if you get nailed by a 60, it degrades by that much. Not sure on that. Even if that is the case though, the fact remains that this cannot be difficult to program. If = "true", then multiply damage by .9, or whatever amount. I like the idea of damage reduction armor, it should have been done a while ago. 99 hits is ridiculously few compared to how much people can hit- we either need equipment that boosts hits the same way strength boosters boost max hit, or we need something to reduce damage done. We also need level 80, 90 and possibly 99 armors; it's insane that one only needs level 75 (under 10% of the exp for 99) to wear the best equipment money can buy. Aren't higher levels meant to be, you know, an advantage? Kind of like how 70 def in barrows has an advantage over 60 def in dragon? But hey, what do I know...
  9. Huh, how weird... I have NEVER been teleported more than twice on my way up there, it seems like such a dramatic deviation from the norm to be random chance. Too bad I wasn't fighting a boss or something, I probably would have had two hilts in a row O_o
  10. So I go to Bork most days for my free 5 blue charms, and it's usually a quick trip. I use the route starting at the Gargoyles and heading on up through the dust devil and black demon area. I very rarely get sent a couple rooms off once on a trip, and it's a quick matter to get back to where I was. Not so this time. I got teleported around FIVE times, three of which being IN A ROW, which got me all the way up to the bronze dragon next to the Nechryael room (ouch, 35 dfire hit, didn't have my shield on). I also ended up in the ice troll area, which had never happened to me before- I'm pretty sure the randomness range has been too small in the past. Has anybody else done any traveling through the Chaos Tunnels since the pirate quest? If so, was I just really really unlucky, or have the Chaos Tunnels become more dangerous and unpredictable?
  11. How exactly does this cheapen combat levels? I used to be far above average combat level, and still am. The difference being that before I was 124ish combat and now I'm 132 combat. No noobs have taken my status from me, because the previous level 118ish who are now 124ish are still lower than me. I only see a problem if YOU aren't training summoning, and the "noobs" are. But then, if they're willing to spend time on a combat skill and you aren't... well, who's the noob now?
  12. Gnome goggles (they do gnothing).
  13. Simply brilliant. It's one of those ideas where you wonder what Jagex is thinking when they ignore it. Hopefully that won't happen with this one.
