  1. #-o is right. Try reading about the first page of the thread.
  2. It really amuses me that this poster has a hammer and sickle as his avatar. Here's a fact about life: There are people who lay down and take whatever happens to them, and people who work to make things the way they want. Guess which ones end up successful? This applies to Runescape as well. So either get over it, use the GE, and be poor, or find a way to be successful even though Jagex is standing in your way. be poor by using the GE? lmao. Really. I've made millions off the GE. Just use the system to your benefit. It's really not that hard. It's easier than Merching before the GE was, since now I can just leave and do something else. So I like the GE. It's double my money. Of course it can be a great tool; I suppose I worded that poorly. What I meant was, if you get a third age mage amulet out of a clue scroll, it may not be the wisest choice to put it on the GE because "that's what the prices are now."
  3. It would be impossible to junk trade with an item that has the correct price in the GE, because people would just go buy it there. This is why junk trading can't be a scam- if the item isn't selling on the GE, there's a reason for it. I don't like abbreviations, so you'll be hard pressed to get my approval on any of them. I'll just keep saying junk trading, hoping that the GE will be fixed soon enough that it will fade into obscurity before we need an abbreviation anyway. Also, posting in Hot Topic.

  5. varock tele ftw..... The point is that you can LEAVE the GE via the fairy ring and go wherever. I can fight abyssal demons in the abyss, fairy ring to edge and sell the whip I get as a drop, buy some more potions, and then run right back. I would be pretty upset if there were no longer a fairy ring near the GE.
  6. Here's how your logic works. Say I pay a kid cash for raking my yard. Somebody tells me that this is horrible, because paying cash is how people buy and sell drugs! If I keep paying kids cash for chores, the government will take away cash and turn the economy into communism! In other words, us using a system that could also be used for RWT doesn't mean we're promoting it. RWT could use this whether legitimate players did or not.
  7. Good luck if you ever want a top hat, or an item that's suddenly gone into incredibly high demand like the black mask recently.
  8. I still see posts like this as a sad attempt to rationalize wanting items much cheaper than what they should have to pay.
  9. So take it up with Jagex, not the players. You blamed "greedy merchants" for a problem you admit is the GE's fault.
  10. Now think very hard... whose fault is this? The demand for black masks was bound to go up. It had to. The logical conclusion is them being worth more. If we had free trade, there the story would end. It's the GE's inflexibility that caused the junk trades, not greedy merchants.
  11. Miscellaneous wood stuff until you can make oak stuff, then whatever takes the most oak planks over and over. The best low level thing is going to be oak larders- you'll make a bunch. Side note: kbd heads are not rarer than visage- I've had 4 kbd heads, 3 d meds, and 0 visages from the kbd in my Runescape career.
  12. If you're cutting and dropping, you might as well be doing willows- dropping takes forever.
  13. Junk trading isn't the problem. It doesn't need to be removed. The problem is that the GE won't update prices. If it did, junk trading wouldn't exist, and wouldn't need to be 'removed' by jagex. Junk trading isn't the problem. It's the broken GE. No no no, my theory is that they are both problems (this I should have clarified); the broken prices becoming a problem for players, and junk trading becoming a problem for jagex. It is obvious why the prices hurt us, but much less obvious why jagex would have an issue with junk trading. It's based on the idea that many prices are only broken because we perceive them to be that way, while jagex has indeed set them for a reason unbeknownst to us. Therefore, junk trading would upset the "balance" created by the prices they "broke". Of course thats just a theory... I mean, who could imagine a reason why the prices are broken like that? If this is true and Jagex really thinks there's a reason to place prices at a certain level, they are brutally wrong. Incorrect prices don't allow for a flowing market. Let's assume that junk trading was impossible (say, by limiting trades to 1 type of item traded for cash). Then, Jagex sets nature runes to 150gp. Nature runes are not 150gp; if they were, nobody would craft them and supply would plummet until people were paying more. It simply wouldn't be a viable source of cash anymore compared to other, easier methods. Thus, by ensuring that all nature runes are sold for 150gp, Jagex would simply create a situation in which nature runes become an extreme scarcity. This logic can be seen in action with frozen GE prices today- head on down and try to sell, say, steel arrows. Nobody wants to buy them because with such a huge number in the economy from accumulators, all the people willing to pay 36 or whatever per arrow have had their fill long ago. The price would need to be much much lower to sell all the rest, probably to very low levels unaware that bone bolts (2gp each) are better.
  14. You're kidding, right? I think you just forgot what it used to be like. At the VERY LEAST, dancing now happens at running speed instead of walking, which gets it over with twice as fast. I haven't seen any dancing AT ALL unless I'm near a wall or obstacle that gets in the way of myself or the monster. I've been to gargoyles and didn't dance at all. No idea what you're talking about.
  15. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CAPS LOCK IN THE WORLD TO EXPRESS MY FACEPALM Seriously, your friend deserves what he got. What a gullible idiot. "Durr... you want $400 and my driver's license scan in exchange for a computer game account you may or may not give me? Okay!" If there weren't idiots like him in the world we would still have free trade.
  16. Even if there were a rule against unbalanced trading, junk trading would still be in the clear, it would just be BH transferring that would become illegal. After all, junk trading is all about making the numbers on the bottom match up, which is how Jagex defines balanced.
  17. Oh my god, you mean people in China offering to break RS rules don't have a problem stealing money from idiots?!
  18. The only one of those that really applies would be the Karamja Diaries. bawww I can't kill a ket-zek! A perfect update doesn't have to be 100% flawless, it just has to not make anybody less happy than they were before. Surely you can take the reduced dancing at miths (yes, it DID reduce it there), and everywhere else, and call it a win?
  19. To those saying there is no perfect update: What could possibly be complained about in the recent update that fixed 'dancing' with monsters? I still feel updates like that are the perfect ones, and we need more.
  20. This is the attitude I'm confused about. People think the issue is whether or not junk trading is ok. Of course it's ok to do. The situation with the GE forces it. Otherwise trade is impossible. The real issue is over jagex's stance and lack of action on it. It's been established that we have to junk trade for many things because of the ge. Let's move beyond that discussion and focus on the bigger picture. This is easy to explain- Jagex does not admit mistakes, especially when so many of the rsof idiots are supporting them and painting junk traders with the same brush as RWTers. They think it's a sign of weakness to go "yeah, we screwed up on the way we designed the GE, and it doesn't work on rarely traded items, or items which will not trade. So, we did a few simple code changes which happen purely on the mathematical operation level, as suggested on the forums numerous times, and it should work much more smoothly now." This aspect of Jagex really, really bothers me.
  21. I think godswords alch for something like that?
  22. I also got a left half and not a chain from dust devils. I killed a few thousand back in the day.
  23. If I were you I would try deleting the file that Jagex stores information in on your computer and see if it'll make a new one. I would tell you exactly how to find that, but I forget where it is on Windows (I use Linux). Anyone know?
  24. When I was into wcin, I found willows faster on the longterm training due not having the need to drop them one by one. With dropping and keeping the speed they were a bit faster. My thoughts exactly, unless there are teak trees near a bank somewhere?
