  1. I would be much more accepting of new ideas if a) the flaws in them weren't glaringly obvious, and B) myself and others hadn't patiently explained over and over and freaking OVER why they won't work, in this thread and others. It bugs me when people try to put this issue on the players not willing to trade at the GE price, and your suggestion was essentially a restatement of that concept. It exposes a complete ignorance of economics and unwillingness to learn.
  2. Indeed, my only beef at all with slayer rings is that they can be made via assist (assuming you've bought the ability to make them). It doesn't bother me too much, but it would be really cool to see something for exclusively highish middle level crafting. Especially since crafting is such a difficult skill.
  3. Here's why this solution is completely worthless. Let's say I have a hypothetical item worth 100mil on the street and 10mil in the GE. I want to sell it, and have the junk ready from past junk trades. Your idea would have me put it on the GE and WASTE 90mil. And then the price would (hypothetically, but probably not) go up 5%, which is 500k. So now the item is 10.05mil on the GE, and I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE ITEM ANYMORE. It's not like there's going to be a next time I sell it, it's gone. After my item is gone I don't care what the price is, because it doesn't affect me anymore. Yeah, really fantastic idea there.
  4. Not sure about the rest of you, but this little line here raises a few red flags for me... Isnt doing things for others the definition of good or some likewise nonsense? I dont remember runescape being the pinacle of kindnass and comradery, but if the point of raising skills to 99 in the end benifits the community more than yourself, isnt that a good thing all around? selflessness and valour and.. whatever else Ghandi was knocking on about back in the day. I mean yeah, great if you want some perks for yourself, but you do have access to.. everything? whats so horrible about that, if you have 99 in a refining skill, chances are you have 99 in the prerequisite skill too, meaning you can be self sufficient, or just make ridiculous amounts of money with the latter (being the prerequisite skill) and do what you need to with the former (the refining skill). All in all, dont be greedy, we have more than enough of that. PS- im not flaming you for saying this, so dont be offended, im just stating some socialogical fact-ish things. The wording in Tim's comment probably wasn't the best, but I don't see this as selfishness. Basically, I work my [wagon] off for 99 herblore, and along the way I essentially throw money away. People who need them benefit from the cheap potions I produce, but I never benefit. I never see any sort of return for slaving away to get 99 herblore. This is what needs to change. Herblorists will still benefit others by providing cheap potions, they'll just get something out of it to make it worthwhile.
  5. That wouldn't kill it- people still need to actually trade them on the GE. There are tons of summoning pouches that won't move because NOBODY has a use for them (think spirit dagganoth- no good use, no shard trade-in value). Also, consider items erroneously linked to their constituent parts, such as adamant arrows (p++). There are probably plenty of those for people to find and use.
  6. If you like, that would be great :D
  7. I've heard about a lot of inconsistencies in the KB since the HD/homepage update. This is what I think happened: So months ago, Jagex was working out the update to slayer, and had pre-written the KB article as they went. They saved several drafts along the way, finally ending up with the final concept in effect in the game today. They then put this final draft in the KB and called it a day. Skip forward to the webpage update. One of the blundering idiots who manage the KB (I would normally be less critical, but this crap happens way too often) is sorting through some data, and accidentally deletes/modifies the most recent changes to the slayer section. He loads from backup drafts, but chooses some of the wrong ones. I HOPE this is what happened, because that task list is terrible. I want my waterfiend tasks!
  8. and one day after the update, you'll see a bunch of pures rioting over their lost weapons. :wall: Why do you have to loose the item? maybe it'll be damaged so you have to pay money to repair it? Also I agree with you on the fact that you loose loads of money to gain nothing but more ways to loose money #-o Breaking armor = more demand for armor = actual point in smiths making thousands of sets of armor.
  9. Woah! If I recall correctly, Zamorak mages drop a lot of nature runes somewhat frequently... But that would be bug abuse.
  10. Nobody ever said anything about them wanting it in a window... :P
  11. I do a little bit of both. I don't carry a cannon to every slayer task with me, I often make herb drops I get into potions (rather than selling them to buy the most efficient exp/cash/time ingredients), and I hate farming trees. On the other hand, I let myself sell the monkfish I fish even though I want 99 cooking, because I'd have to cook 8k more monkfish to save 500k from sharks. I'm also ice bursting rock lobsters instead of killing dust devils for charms.
  12. I'd like to know how they'd find out. It's similar to the time they banned SwiftSwitch- Yeah, good for you, but unless I'm doing something actually wrong you can't tell that I'm not just using IE. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't know nearly enough about modifying openGL to actually try it though.
  13. Holy crap, it would be so cool if strength potions showed up as Coke and lobsters were Twinkies in the free version. Eat Domino's Anchovie Pizza Use Domino's Anchovie Pizza Drop Domino's Anchovie Pizza Examine Domino's Anchovie Pizza
  14. On the contrary, the only thing you'd need to do would be on the level of your own computer. Say I figure out how to make a small window which acts exactly as my desktop does, but is only 800x600 pixels. Then I open up Runescape using the normal client, switch to fullscreen, and it stays within my window. Nothing remotely illegal about that.
  15. Lol, "legal"? I'm not sure how finding a way to run a java applet in an 800x600 window is illegal. That said, I'm not sure how, but I'm quite sure it's possible.
  16. 1. No, you can't. 2. You were gathering some ingredients (maybe vials and/or snapegrass?) for those prayer potions.
  17. @ Ultimakomoto: Oooh. Well, sorry about that, but farming patches in Player Owned Houses is an idea that's been around since loooong before Construction actually came out man :P @ Caxis: I like the idea, but am unsure how I would want to balance it. "Surely not better than Barrows!" one portion of my mind says. "Why not?!" says another, "smithing is one of the hardest skills!" Any ideas on where you would want this armor placed on the scale of armors? @ siim: Interesting... I smell a high-requirements quest! In the past Jagex has had a very difficult time properly balancing any sort of mining improvement... did you know there's some unique way to mine coal in Keldagrim? No, that's because everybody forgets after the quest. This leads me to believe that Jagex does not want mining exp to become easier, so a way to mine more quickly may not be the best course for a suggestion. Perhaps a higher ore that MUST be blast mined, though...
  18. 1. That definitely works, but I prefer just keeping extra axes in my bank and then alching it when I get in there. 2. My computer is weird about taking screenshots, or I would. There are, however, PLENTY of metal dragon guides around complete with many pics showing you exactly what to do, if you need to get the ropes. :)
  19. Oh, don't say that, I'm there right now :ohnoes:
  20. You can pull as many statistics out on how many ppl use Swiftkit as you like but the fact is that the VAST MAJORITY of people don't use nor need the "tools" available in these 3rd party programs. I play RS just fine without them and have done since 2001. Methinks thou doth protest too much O_o
  21. The armor didn't change, just the ghosts.
  22. It depends on how good your connection and computer are. I was on world 2 with all detail options full on without any trouble.
  23. LOL! I love how all the brothers look to be leaning sideways in the KB pictures. This and the walking animation are the only things I've lol'd at in the graphics update (so far).
  24. That method didn't look very cheap or easy, and you couldn't have been ranging while eating those sweets very easily. That was more of a show-offy thing than a practical method.
  25. I can take it out if you want, but you were warned what would happen if you post ideas here :P
