  1. Meh, I've tried both, and I just don't like the results of speccing the dragon. Black demons have insanely low def compared to iron dragons, so you're more likely to hit very high. Of course, you're welcome to do whatever you like, but I prefer the demons and dogs. If you can't figure out how to do this without a pretty picture, this is NOT the guide for you ;)
  2. It's amazing that Runescape's skills are so far off the mark for the most part that this is actually a valid suggestion. I have a LOT to say on this topic, but I won't because I don't feel like typing it again. If you're interested, there's a link about fixing skilling in my signature in which I say a lot on the topic.
  3. THE BEST 1H WEAPON IS LEAF-BLADE SWORD!!! :| It doesn't have to be expensive to be good! Sorry, I wrote this guide a LONG time before leaf-bladed swords came out. I'll have to try one next time I'm at the dragons, and if I like it I will add it to the guide. Thanks for the pointer!
  4. I usually collect my resources monthly, so nest processing actually becomes kind of a big job :P 2 votes for coal, sounds good to me unless somebody has something else to say. Thanks guys :)
  5. Is that really the third best or are you guessing? :P I'm willing to do the math too if somebody can provide me with numbers- I just don't know how many resources per gp each setting gives.
  6. In my experience, the effort looting and grinding the nests makes maples not worth it. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my post- I'm looking for a resource that is still effortless to collect and sell.
  7. So for a long time the best combo has been flax and fish at MTK. However, I see by the new BTS that we're going to be getting daily free flax from the Seers diary. Thus, I'm looking to beat the rush when flax prices start plummeting and switch my kingdom over from flax to something else now. What should I choose?
  8. Realizing that I had forgotten antipoison AND accidentally brought an uncharged glory to a kalphite task (no teleport). I was poisoned, out of food, and had a freaking cannon on me (I was too nooby to know that leaving the cannon up would have saved it). I ended up running panicked through the desert and dieing, lost a bunch of my slayer gear and a whole cannon (which was a lot at the time). :'(
  9. How the HELL did that bogus fact get there? -The dragon plate doesn't have attack bonuses. -If it DID, it wouldn't be the only one- melee PVP armor has it. -If it WAS the only armor with attack bonuses, Bandos' strength bonus would still be far more useful, for a fraction of the cost. It's like somebody just randomly made a fact up and then posted it to the Times. And NOBODY NOTICED. Christ.
  10. Wait, what? Last I checked, 99 smithing still had pretty iffy profits. Crafting, as far as I know, doesn't make significant money either. Cooking- lol wut? All you get at 99 is all of the most effective ways to waste money on cooking exp.
  11. Well, I mean... if they blatantly put a method to make money with Construction into the game, then I can see it being reasonable to assume so.
  12. ...Wow. English is one of the HARDEST, most sloppily put together languages out there. It has no set rules for spelling, grammar, or anything because it's around six different languages just cobbled into one, each bringing their own rules for their own words. The only other language I've studied, Spanish, is much better because it has regular spelling/pronunciation rules (you hear a word, you can spell it), and relatively few exceptions to grammar rules (most just a few common sayings and irregular verb conjugations). I say all of this as somebody majoring in English- I love language, but I can admit that English is an extremely frustrating one. I don't know Romanian, so I can't comment- it very well might be even harder than English. Learning "several words" in a language is like learning "several notes" on an instrument. It doesn't even count as experience with the language. Now for your last point, French vs. English... here's the thing. When we're below around 12, our minds are more receptive to learning new languages. 12 is the generally accepted cutoff point to learn to speak a second language with very little accent, and the kids generally have a much easier time learning than older people. If you started French in high school or so, it would have been much harder than English at 10 just because your mind had become more rigid.
  13. I'm hearing a lot of people saying this was "rushed," and that's how the oversight happened. That's just not the case; this wasn't a rush job, this was just being stupid. This is not following a thought to the logical conclusion. Just like we wouldn't say that an engineer going "Oh, I didn't realize that using a jet engine to propel an elevator to make it go faster would kill people" was a "rushed job," we shouldn't say "Oh, I didn't realize that when we let people sell flatpacks for the median GE price, that meant ALL the flatpacks" was anything other than gross negligence.
  14. The issue here is that Jagex's QA team CLEARLY either doesn't communicate with developers, or doesn't actually play the game. If you don't have the sort of person who looks at an update from the eyes of a player with high level skills and asks "how could I benefit most from this update" on your QA team, then you have missed the entire point of a QA team. They need to challenge their QA to find the most effective way to make money and experience from new updates BEFORE they are released so that things like this don't slip through. Within minutes of hearing of the reward, I figured out that, hey, maybe high-priced flatpacks will make a profit! I checked and, yup, I was right! If a player like me who doesn't even have a high construction level can take a few minutes and find a "flaw" that slipped right past QA, something is WRONG. And then Jagex has the audacity to call the people who used this method bug abusers. Yeah, assuming that the QA team isn't a bunch of mindless idiots, and thus that all of the glaringly obvious advantages from new updates are intended, is "bug abuse." Hey guys, the salt water pool in Oog'log gives infinite run energy! I would use it, but I'm afraid that it must not be working as intended, and QA just didn't think to try swimming in the salt water pool and then running. And, oops, at 82 Runecrafting I seem to be getting TWO astral runes per essence! Obviously not intentional, as QA didn't think about how two is a larger number than one.
  15. Oh christ... probably even higher than my 2076 total level would indicate. Not only do I have high levels in slow-training skills like slayer, summoning, runecrafting, etc., but I spent an extreme amount of time as a noob mining (and certing!) coal and killing lesser demons on the free version Runescape Classic (sloooooooow exp compared to today's training). If I had to hazard a guess, I would say, no meme intended, over 9000 hours.
  16. Personally I would be shocked if you didn't need the full set for the exp bonus, and if noncombat magic benefited from the exp bonus. It is combat equipment providing the boost, after all.
  17. Congratulations, you just lost every shred of credibility in this thread! D med is worth NOTHING, check the GE.
  18. But it takes about 5 minutes to kill one >_> Yeah, it's easily 15 times harder to kill one of them than just 1-hit a normal black knight.
  19. They're definitely related, but the first of Guthix is located pretty far from the Stone of Jas.
  20. Before I tell you about how to kill Tormented demons, I am going to strongly suggest something: GET MULTIPLE SAPPHIRE LANTERNS. Leave at least one in the bank so that, if you die, you can actually get down to the demons to collect your remains. I lagged out, died, and then was unable to claim Karil's top and Verac's helm, among other things, because I didn't have another lantern. Anyway, I suggest the following setup: Neitiznot helm Black dragonhide/Karil's body and legs Trimmed skillcape/ada's/fire cape/normal skillcape Amulet of fury/glory Book of Zamorak Recipe gloves Climbing/snakeskin boots Darklight and SGS and rune crossbow Broad-diamond bolts Ring of wealth/life For your inventory, bring: one-click teleport 6 super restores super defense potion sapphire lantern and the rest shark Also bring a bunyip, or a terrorbird loaded with: 12 more sharks You may notice that my setup tends away from defense bonuses. The reason for this is the fact that they aren't really important in this fight nearly as much as offense. They'll do the same attack over and over for a while, and you pray against it. Then they switch and you switch prayer. If you do it right, you don't take many hits, whereas you are constantly attacking them with melee or ranged. For your strategy, first you want to find a spot where you can lure a demon away from the others and fight it one-on-one. There are a few of these around, all you need is some rocks to hide behind. Shoot a demon, then run behind your chosen lump of rocks. It will then walk over to you. Then proceed to attack. Your attack strategy is simple: When the demon prays against melee, use your rune crossbow. When it prays against ranged, pull out darklight until it becomes weakened, then swap out for your SGS. Try to use your SGS specs as the first hit after changing attack styles to avoid hitting on ranged prayer. As far as defensively, here's the deal with the attacks. When it shoots your standard little fireball things at you, it's magic; pray accordingly. When it shoots little [bleep]y things at at you, it's ranged. When its claw hits you, that's melee. It also has a weird little special attack where it bends back and shoots a magic attack at you, then switches right away to a new attack style. If you're quick you can switch to avoid the magic and then the new attack, but more than likely the magic will hit you.
  21. Or you could just turn another bullseye lantern into a sapphire lantern lol Yeah, if you have one. Oiled lanterns never sell on the GE, so you have to get an empty one and go all the way to Rimmington to make lamp oil. It's kind of hard to do in five minutes. The point is to have a backup to get down there so the same thing doesn't happen to you.
  22. I didn't even bother prayer switching, and it was still easy. Granted, I'm maxed melees, but still.
  23. you do realize that if we detsroy stone of Jas there will be no magic, AT ALL, since it's the source of all magic, and the thing that keeps the power of rune altars together I'm not sure that's entirely accurate. The Stone of Jas was what originally gave humans the power to use magic (I'm extremely surprised that the stone effect didn't give us infinite runes for the fight with the tormented demons), but they then used this power themselves to make the rune altars. It hasn't been laid out whether or not the Stone is still necessary to keep magic going. Storyline-wise, SOMETHING is going to happen to that stone. It's not just going to sit around somewhere where we can just stop by on our way to God Wars.
  24. 1. Steal/destroy Staff of Armadyl 2. Get 255 stats from Stone of Jas. 3. Destroy Stone of Jas (what, you think they're going to leave it in Runescape?) 4. ??? 5. Profit!
