You opened it with firefox? This is lucky that firefox have stronger security than other browser. Spyware(s) found but not virus is already lucky. Your pc mostly won't have big problem but your friend's pc maybe had a problem.

Did you install Sun Microsystems Java? Futhermore, what appears under the menu bar? Sometimes scripts or Javascripts blocker will block RuneScape from loading. If it appear a blank page, most properly a specific software had block it.

I don't think this is software problem. Possible is hardware problem. If i've you, i would buy a new laptop. If you really want to repair it, it will involve buying new hardware and data lost. This is a common problem. Now i don't use ZoneAlarm Security Suite again. I used this 3 months ago and i found this problem too. I think it is because of the pop-up blocker. The firewall doesn't have problem. Because now i'm using ONLY zonealarm firewall and the problem 'fixed'. And i installed many other anti-virus and anti-spys to replace ZoneAlarm. Loading firewall AFTER loading msn will be unsecure but this is only the way i think. So just change your software.
