Best way for a F2P player to get from 39-43 magic
Your using a Safe Spot, so you cannot get hit. And plus, if you train at Fist Of Guthix, your targets run away, and you only get half the experience, so it could potentially take up to 3 times as long as doing it on Lesser Demons. Fist Of Guthix should be a last resort. Could someone please tell me where this half experience is coming from? I swear 1 month and a half ago when I last played FoG, I got my 35 base XP PLUS 2 xp per damage point, a normal spell would give. And honestly, with magic, once you click on your opponent once, you've pretty much got them as your magic will always go in the direction they are at, regardless if they run or teleport. It's actually relatively easy to find them if they house too. That's an interesting idea :-k

Should a members only skill be opened up to f2p?
Definitely agility. EVERYTHING (Or last almost everything) in RS requires running and movement. It wouldn't be a radical new improvement and whole new side to the game like summoning, hunter, or construction, but it would be useful enough for F2Pers to use at all levels.

FoG
I actually win all of my games, except for a couple once in a blue moon I also tank the middle, just the runners, they'll run and telly back to middle, then it takes forever to find them, so thats why I hate them :wall: How the heck do you win? You can't wear blk dhides, cast ancient magics, or even wear dragon armor. If you are tanking in the center, only very weak players and those who don't know about the term of running will be your victims. Such is realm of F2P combat. Oh trust us, it can be done.

But that costs much more money and the penalty of death is a lot worse.

Is Fist of guthix a good place to train magic?
Where does it say you only get 1/2 experience???

I suggest fire bolts at FoG. Cheapest way of doing it while not being overly slow.

Says who? Since when?

Then you would have to divert time away from maging and craft them instead. FoG is VERY good if you're low on cash. You can cast a ridiculous number of spells and since your opponent has his stat effectiveness reduced, as long as he's not like 70 levels higher than you, you should be able to hit a fair amount. I still train there. Where else am I going to cast that many fire blasts for free?

longsword beats scimmy so bad
Hurray for spelling at grammar : I got caught up in this debate a few days ago and my friend loaned me a rune long for me to test (So Jagex actually made something useful :shock: ) We dueled a few times and I had a stopwatch on my computer. Roughly, reaction times aside, the rune long hits once every 3 seconds. The rune scimitar hits once every 2.4 seconds. That's about a ratio of 4:5, meaning after 12 seconds, the rune long has hit 4 times, and the scimitar 5 times. We have to make the realization that +2 slash is negligible and the defence bonuses also quite pointless at higher levels. In most cases, the rune long WILL give +1 to my max hit over the scimmy. However, this is dependent on strength level, other equipment, prayers, etc. From this, one can see that at perhaps lower levels (Just reached 40 attack and defence and your opponent around the same), the rune long isn't bad for short duels. That addition to max hit, 4% increase in slash, and slight defence bonuses may make enough of a difference to pull you through to a win : However at higher levels where most are using full rune, have relatively high defence, and high attack, those tiny advantages of the rune long which may have made a difference in a low-level duel almost completely vanish into nothingness. The max hit increase would be about the only advantage over the rune scimitar. But with a ratio of 4:5, I'd choose the scim. You had 4 chances to hit me. I have 5 in the same time bracket. All of the above just explores PVP. In a training scenario, rune scimitar is really the best choice. Training looks at how fast you can get that xp. Over extended periods of time, that 0.6 second difference really really adds up. I think I need to try this with a b axe and a R2H to see which is the better finisher...

FoG
That thread, unlike what it suggests, is actually against the people who are against running. Technically, this rant is about other players, thus it should be locked. But running is an entirely legit tactic and should be used as much as possible. If you want to find something easy, play solitaire or minesweeper. Yar. My thread is catching attention :

The RS KB, not the Tip.it article. Anyway, thankies for the link.

Runners in Fist of Guthix
w00t. I just noticed this rant has over 1.3 views. : : And once again, running in FoG is NOT sad.

FoG = money?
Maybe you can post in it and bump it for me \

Chat Effects?
I already checked the chat section of the KB. Just a bunch of basic stuff and quick chat stuff.

Chat Effects?
What are all of the different effects? I'm aware of Flash: Text Blinks red and yellow Green(Red)(Blue): Text Coloured text Wave: Text Wavy text Scroll: Text Moves across screen What are the other ones? Also, how do you do multiple ones? I'm thinking there's an order to it (Colour, movement effect, vice versa. Something like that)

FoG = money?
I'm really really wishing that I sold my pair in the first 2 weeks that FoG came out. They [bleep]ed to like 300K. Oh well. But otherwise, you'd be better off doing something else non-FoG related unless you're there for fun. I take the game as something fun to do and to raise magic for free ( :roll: ) and take the tokens as a bonus.

What should i do now?(F2p)
You could try your hand at a CB based mini-game like Ouchy suggested. I personally like FoG : Other than that, you could well...um... I just realized that F2P has nothing to do.

@@ !! [ xp3nsiv's lil' book to f2p pures * Last Vol.*] !! @@
1. What does that have to do with my point? I didn't say "Don't train all of them." I was saying that magic would be more effective than ranged. 2. He said that the average level 80 has about 70 HP. Not the level 80s I know. 3. Couple of seconds? Try 129 seconds at level 43. If you use monk robes, you're looking at almost 3 mins. 3 full mins of blocking 40% of the potential damage that your opponent could inflict. This would seriously help to negate the effectiveness of using a finishing weapon on you and reduce a boat load of damage. 4. And this is just my opinion. Based on the KB. 5. According to the Tip.it combat calc, you could raise your magic level another 29 levels before it would affect your cb level at these stats. Another 30 levels for higher mage accuracy and passive magic defence? Why not? 6. Aggressive monsters are not necessarily hard monsters to kill. 7. This was still applicable 2 years ago. 8. But it still supports prayer in any case >.> 9. +6 in pretty much any case DOES help. And it also increases ranged, mage, and melee attack. It's +6 mage def is actually somewhat also useful in this scenario since 70% of your mage level provides magic defence. I never attacked the guide aggressively because it was outdated. If there wasn't a problem of monster waiting time, I would have to agree with the killing of level 7 men, but that's not the case. But that's not the case.

@@ !! [ xp3nsiv's lil' book to f2p pures * Last Vol.*] !! @@
Well past all of the no longer applicable stuff due to updates: Magic is really the only viable option. Full rune effectively blocks ranged attacks. Not the level 80s I know... 43 prayer on a protection prayer does not take 20-40 seconds to fully drain. More like 2 mins. Str pots add bonuses, but ultimate strength adds even more on top. Like 2-3 more at high strength levels. At level 99, it's the equivalent of 114-5 strength. Can you not just naturally pick up bones and bury them while training? He's also downplayed the value of protection prayers. That's a massive 40% reduction in hits. I doubt it. Rune has a very high negative bonus against magic whereas rune has a very high positive bonus against ranged. Why not just go for and even higher magic level at this point? Can you not notice you're out of food and run? Between killing each NPC, there's sort of a "waiting time" between each attack (It's very apparent when you're attacking chickens). This time will stack up and make training on such weak guys ineffective after level 20 unless you're in a multi-combat zone. Conversely, this actually supports prayer. If armour is essentially useless, one might as well use robes and boost prayer times. What about attack bonus? Magic bonus? Range bonus? How about the fact that the strength often does not boost your max hit more than a power ammy? And overall, I disagree with and dislike the concept pures in general. :roll: However, I do like some parts of the guide. I certainly have to agree that lessers aren't the XP they're cracked up to be.

Cooking Per Hour
There are usually a lot of F2P FMers at the GE, so you might not even have to light the fires.

Ranged training f2p
Or if you only had 44 pray, range the two knights in the adjacent room so you don't have to go up and down the stairs and still not have to worry about getting hit.

One-Hit Iron
Even at level 99 with a rune pick on copper, there's a tiny chance of not 1 hitting it. Yes, a tiny one, but still a chance.
