Athiest?
That is taking the easy way out. That is not basing opinion off empirical data. That is not having faith. That is not rational thinking. That is not true believing. That is cowardice.

Huzzah  ! Oh, and LP- I maintain that I know nothing about "god", and I am certain nearly all of it's properties are outside of human logic, reason, evidence, and understanding. I know nothing about this god, I merely admit that the possibility of it existing exists. These articles are little more than an attack on Christian creationists, who have already given properties to something they understand nothing about. Wow I didn't realise there was solid proof that he didn't exist either. Have I missed something? Perhaps then you believe in Thor, Zeus or Quetzalcoatl? Or the invisible pink elephant, flying spaghetti monster or the flying teapot? Or ghosts, pixies, faries, gremlins, trolls, witches and warlocks? I think I've made my point clear enough. Ihave thouroghly read this post, and have come to the conclusion that you are very close-minded and intolerant. It would seem that you have not been touched by his noodly appendage, and should visit this webpage. -Pastafarian for life. :XD: There's a website for the thing  ? Where have I been?- Athiest?
LP, when you get right down to it, philosophy, science, everything leads to the simple unanswered question: How did all of this come to existence, and why? A creator or god of some form is just a hypothesis for the reason behind existence. Those articles appear to be focused on disproving Christians though. Again, I'm not talking about the christian god, just a being or entity that could have effected or created this plane of existence. For all we know, this "creator", if it exists, could be incapable of thought or emotion. We just don't know. I am highly doubtful and skeptical of any god that has been thought up and given specificproperties. I am however not closed off to the idea that some creator does exist, most likely one not like any god we humans have thought up. And yes, as you established in your last sentence, you have reiterated my argument :P . There is no such thing for or against, Reb. Science is a purely naturalistsic methodology. Trying to gather evidence from the supernatural is, as you said, impossible because there's no data or knowlege to grasp. Note that this is for your archetypal, arbitrary creator; I've seen good arguments against many specific deities made. Which is exactly my point :P . And yes, as I said, specific man-created deities can be pretty much completely disproven, but the simple idea of a creator can not be disproven.- Athiest?
Uh, evolution? -.- :wall: -.- A god. Not God. Not the Christian God. Evolution does not disprove a creator of the multiverse. It just disproves Genesis, which is just fully of flowery stories and contradictions anyways. I don't believe any image of god(s) formed here on earth is correct, though I'd be willing to bet that some of them hold properties of the creator of our universe, if there is one (i.e., omniscience, etc.).- Tougher driving restrictions for young drivers
Yes, I am spoiled. My dad makes $400,000 a year. My mom makes another $100,000 a year. My paternal grandfather bought my dad an all of his siblings cars when they went off to college, and so my dad chooses to do the same thing. Congrats to you, I don't know where you made $7,000 (as I can't even conceive that being possible for me, being 17 and so busy during the school year that I can only get a summer job), but that's totally your car, and you earned it. Must be a great feeling, a feeling that I already know I will not share. My problem though, is that I have no current way of making that kind of money, but my parents (having such busy lives, my mom just got back from NYC, and my dad was in Japan two weeks ago) still need another driver in the family, and they need that other driver in a safe and efficient car. So, I (and my sister, though it'll be mainly my car this year, and hers next year when I'm a freshmen in college) was lucky enough to have our parents pay for most of the car, as well as the massive insurance cost. Yes, I'm a spoiled brat who simply does not know the value of money, because me making $1-2,000 of my own dollars pails in comparison to the $7,000 you made, and the car you bought all on your own. Got a problem with it? I am getting a used car. Not a ten year old $30 car, but it's a used car :-w . You are right though, I won't have the feeling of owning the car. My loss really, so it's almost karma if you want to think of it that way.- Athiest?
I'm pretty sure the word irrational is already in the definition of faith :| . That's interesting :-k . That theory seems much more logical than the Big Bang theory. Oh, and yes, it is far more rational than atheism. ^^pretty much sums it up if you understand it... P.S. agnostics, you're all just atheists who are scared you'll be punished by a god that may exist... Dear God do I hate people like that. Especially those who believe in a God (or any of it's variants) simply because they want to stay out of some man-made Hell and instead get eternal happyness or some crap like that. Nonetheless, I am agnostic, and my reasons for being such are far from your general assumptions. Simply put, there's absolutely no reason for one to make random guesses about a subject of which we can obtain no data or knowledge whatsoever. For that reason I choose not to choose. The possibility of a god will always be there, but there is no evidence on either side of the argument about whether or not it exists. (though, it would be nice to hear what scientific evidence you have to dispute the existence of a creator). Oh, and just so you know, I don't believe in Hell or Heaven, nor an afterlife at all. The ideology behind the afterlife is pathetically illogical, so I see no reason to believe in a god based on fear, because with my current opinions I have nothing to fear.- Athiest?
Just because there are scientific explanations for phenomena within our plane of existence does not mean there isn't a God people. Man-made Gods can be disproved, for they can contain contradictory properties. The idea that there is a God, the one and only creator and observer of the multiuniverse, however, can not be disproved no matter how hard one tries. Basically, it's pointless to choose a side. That's like deciding a defendant is guilty without even knowing what the trial's about.- Athiest?
I'm probably more agnostic than atheist, oh well. Put simply, I just refuse to act like I understand something I don't. I'm going to focus my attention here on Earth, not towards some random man-made God who holds no proof for or against it's existence. It is very possible there is a God. It's also very possible that there isn't. I just find it pointless to make a decision about something of which I know absolutely nothing. To be honest, none of you are qualified or justified in making a decision one way or the other either. 500 years ago everyone believed the world is flat.. It's the lack of knowledge that makes people believe.. The existance of a god gives them easy "answers" :XD: Try 2500 years ago.- Create your South Park alter-ego!

5/10 No, Edward Elric (The guy with a metal arm) used alchemy in attempt to revive his mother, which is a forbidden alchemy. Thus, his brother was obliterated in the alchemy (The guy who's in that suit of armor is him). But to revive his brother, he had to sacrifice his arm and leg to at least put his soul within a suit of armor. Hope that clears up! Again...Since Blaziken rules...8/10! Mines random sig dude or girl who will rate me, remember that. : Actually, his left leg and Alphonses body were taken as part of the "equivalent exchange" of the transmutation. Edward saw the gate (and all the knowledge inside of it), and Alphonse's body was drawn into the gate. Then Ed returned to the real world, and found his brother gone. Using the knowledge he had obtained from the Gate, he transmuted his right arm as a trade to the gate monsters for his brother's soul, and the he implanted Al's soul in one of their father's custom suits of armor using a blood seal. Not much different from your explanation, it's just that he had already lost his leg, and he only needed to sacrifice his arm to get Al's soul :P . Eh, on second thought...just watch the anime (and read the manga in my sig :P ). It starts airing again on Monday on Adult Swim  . (if you were wondering though, Ed and Al are neighbors and friends of two automail experts, Winry [the blond haired girl] and her grandmother. Ed got his automail from them [thus the mechanical arm], using some of the money his mother left him and Al.) FMA FTW!- The Sig Rating Game

Ah, good, a fan. A fan.... who can't spell my name right :D . Dear God, my Mom's got more Sylvia Brown books than can fit in a room. She's completely whako on everything spiritual (well, not "whako" per say... I think). So, yes, I have heard about all those near-death experiences. I still consider it an illogical plate of bologna. What  ? Wait, hold on... let me catch my breath.... What? You don't know that. You don't even know if we have free will. The universe is a series of causes and effects. Our actions are merely reactions to our surroundings, which we have no control over. How can free will emerge in that state of being? If you're trying to counter my point about the different images of God, you have no idea what I was talking about. The images of God (or rather Yahweh) include those like the Trinity, a Warrior, Leader, Nomad, Judge, Liberator, Peace Maker, King, and many others, (basically whatever the people of the time needed) which contain many contradictions. They are different images of God, which after shifting through time eventually led us to our current image of God: the one and only, creator of all, immanent God. Which is part of my point that people do not and will never understand God, so they should stop talking like they do. Its based on faith...there wasnt a Manuel other then the bible on how to live are life's, and to those that have nothing gives them a sense of direction or hope...of course we cant know everything, noone ever knows 100% in there profession...but im pretty sure your ASSumption of people knowing 0% is wrong... You just put "it's based on faith" and "knowing" in the same argument. Want two cookies or three?- "God hates fags"
Ah, this is a perfect example of why evangelists intrigue me. It's probably the only profession in the world where people make money by having no idea what they're talking about. Okay, okay, there are a few others, but the evangelist profession is probably the only one where 100% of the people within the profession know 0% about what they're talking about. We can't ever know what God thinks, at least not in this state of being. People need to quit acting like they have even the slightest clue what God is like, let alone what It tells us :| . Oh, and just so you guys know, the Bible contains at least a dozen different distinct images of God. Five of them being the major ones, but all different nonetheless. Even within the sacred Bible itself of Christianity there is still indecision about what God is like, let alone our interpretations :| . That made about as much sense as a gerbil expounding on the wonders of quantum mechanics.- The Sig Rating Game
6.5/10 overall- age limit to love?
Are you kidding? He brings this forum the cynical tone it needs. He's the realist that counters all these annoying idealistic attitudes :P . Admit it, this place'd be boring if everyone was cheery, idealistic, happy and agreeable :P . Oh, and no no :shame: on the condescending attitude.- Tougher driving restrictions for young drivers
No, rather, they should chip in a bit for it, and pay for gas and other things themselves. I've got to pay for gas for my car, and I (as well as my sister) am going to chip in $1000 for the car (it being a new car that costs $17,000ish). Parents that have kids that can drive have a lot less to deal with (grocery trips, driving around other siblings, especially when parents are at work, etc.), and we all know no kid is going to afford a car on his own money. Can you honestly tell me you'll be able to afford your own car when you're a teenager? You might not be able to afford a car until you're like 30 -.- .- Your Not So Secrety Secrets (Of Secretyness)
I like Nickelback. For some reason, in my area it's become a fad not to like Nickelback or something. Literally, one week everyone likes 'em, next week no one does. Oy -.- .- age limit to love?
Sorry, what? What is age? Age is just a number... Mentally, a twelve year old can be older than a thirty year old... How many do you know personally that are? Four. Yep, can't even get off your right hand. Now, how many thirty year-olds do you know are more mature than twelve year olds? Honestly poeple, this "age is just a number" and "age is irrelevant to maturity" crud is just getting annoying -.- .- The smoking ban in England, 1st July, Bye bye cancer-sticks.

Don't read Fahrenheit 451. Dear God, don't read that book. Very weird, very out there, very boring >_<. I dunno, maybe 15 was too young for me to read it, but that was the dullest book I've ever read. Okay, Red Badge of Courage beats it, but just barely. If you think 451 is out there, you've never really read any sci fi :P Eh, I put it badly. It's not really that it's "out there", it's just one of the weirdest and dumbest futuristic models I've ever had the discomfort to read about. I mean, Brave New World's future model makes more sense than 451's.- sci/fantasy books
