The bible
No, it's more like the Truth will be debated for millenia, then the aliens will come and kill us all before we could find something we'd never be able to attain anyways. But yes, religion is a psychological necessity in the human race. There's no saying how long Christianity will last.

The Soul.
Many well known philosophers submit to the idea of the soul, and you can't go anywhere talking about the "mind" and "body" without having the "soul" tied to the end. I've heard that it's the passionate side of you... but I don't really understand it. It just doesn't make logical sense for us to have like a soul that goes to heaven when you look at the rest of the world and history. We go to heaven, but other living organisms don't? There can't be some fine line for when the soul just appeared in our species either... but so many people submit to the idea, that it'd be interesting to hear the logic behind it.

The Soul.
The idea of a "soul" has always intrigued me, but I've never understood the concept fully. I'd like to hear others' input on the concept, to get an idea of how other people view the "soul" :-k . A few questions to consider (don't just make a post answering these questions.... their just something to think about in a discussion). -Do souls exist? If so, what are they (in your opinion)? -In your opinion, what is a human soul exactly? What might it be made of, or look like? -After you die, does your soul remain an individual? Or would it be integrated into some infinitely large whole, like a mass of energy? -Are souls exclusive to humans? Or do you entertain the idea of animals having souls, especially maybe a pet? -If we have souls, when in evolution would we have attained them? Basically, if you believe we evolved from apes, and that apes themselves don't have "souls" (or at least have different souls than humans), when would we have attained souls during evolution? -Do you think anything, not just living matter, can have a soul, or at least part of a soul? -Do souls continue "living" on forever after our bodies die? Or do they go down with the body? ~~~ Again, these are just questions for a discussion, don't turn this into an "answer the questions straight up and leave" thread.

BA- Greater Rewards or Better on average?
It's still going to suck just as much. They probably didn't do anything, and are just saying that to psychologically make players think that the rewards are better.

He's still right. Explain what's wrong with it. It's a fun thread. :-s ? Porn on your computer is just pixels, so he's right in his response. I'm not sure if I understand your question though, what's wrong with what?

Gota admit, with all the technology out there, a deck of cards is still the best thing on a plane 8-) . Or anywhere, period. Chips help too.

Plane Trip
I take my laptop and bring DVD's sometimes too :P . Sometimes I download shows, sometimes I just bring a movie (though I only have enough power for one movie >_<). It's great because family/friends around me can watch it with me :o. Good tip: Even if you don't get internet on a plane, if you open a few Youtube videos (i.e., Fullmetal Alchemist episodes... which got removed recently -.-), let them load, and keep the windows open, you can watch all of them even without internet available at the time :P .

The bible
So if I went and wrote a letter to someone about being abducted by "flying robot monkey alien things", that would be considered proof they exist? 1: No one respects your writing. No offense, I think. 2: Pliny was respected, and he has historical data of Jesus existing. 3: There are dozens (or more?) of historical sources verifying the existence of Jesus. Look up your facts before you even dare to use the " " emote. Eh, I'd debate that as more of a "life ain't fair, I want karma in the afterlife, so let's pWn the rich dudes who we're jealous of" statement. I respect Jesus' opinions, but that just doesn't sound right. There's nothing wrong with being rich. Poor people just thought that the rich deserved pain for having better lives than them, which is total and complete b.s. Oh, and the word Abba is closer to the word "daddy" than "father". It was informal, not "respected". Just making sure you got that. I respect the Bible and all, but that wasn't the greatest defense dude.

Name Meanings
Depends. Bad if they say "dumb as a.." Good if they say, "strong as a.." "Rock" generally means "foundation".

*slowly steps away....* Same. People who say that this tells a lot about your personality obviously have never seen real psychological tests from up close... I've never lifted a finger against anyone (umm, except for one slap in the face of a male counterpart who deserved it) - so I wouldn't really count on this representing me... Well duh, it's a gun quiz  .

This is a lie. There is NO such thing as a "gay gene". If you think otherwise, please provide the literature to back it up. Yes, it was rumoured a while ago, but the research was flawed. You're free to make that claim, but why do you assume that if it isn't proven that there's a gay gene, then it's based on nurture? I hate how people say that there isn't evidence of a gene so it must be based off their environment. Just because we haven't found solid evidence doesn't mean it's perfectly feasible, even more likely than it being brought upon by nurture. Anyway, I'm option 3. There may be a "gay gene" (I'd bet there is at least something), but I'm pretty sure that most of it comes from nurture/environment. I mean, supposedly straight people have been known to "turn gay" during their lives :-k .

The bible
So we get back to the point of, "The Bible is evil because people are evil?" You say what it says is moral, and you say that people generally interpret it with good intentions. So all of a sudden, because a few people are immoral enough to use and manipulate a well respected book, the book itself is evil. If something is respected by the people, rulers seek to weild it and abuse it for their own personal gain or interests. That's how the cunning rulers manipulate, guide, and control their minions and comrades. That doesn't have any effect on the meaning of the book, or how good of a moral guidebook it is. Sat, I don't get your logic at all. There will always be respected works, and their will always be people who abuse the people's trust in it. Are you saying we get rid of every followed and respected piece of literate known to man, to stop the few who will just find something else to use to manipulate the masses anyways?

The bible
This seems like yet another "every Christian is a fundamentalist" statement :-s . Unless Jesus advocated genocide, [assault], murder ect I don't have a problem with him. Then what, you consider the Bible trash for like 3% of it disagreeing with your opinion? I value the christian morals, well some of them. Like love thy neighbour however, that doesn't make me drop my opinion of the Bible's obvious glorification of murder and genocide and some people taking christian morals too far and discriminating members of society with them. I'm sorry but i don't find the Bible to be a great set of moral guidelines when it's main, almighty God commits such things. #-o There are what, like 3 stories of "genocide" in the Bible, most of which are metaphorical? Other than the flood (which is just a story and a complex metaphor), I'm guessing your thinking of the Hebrews struggels and battles. Not only are those unique documents of their history, but they have deeper meanings as well (even though the use of God in the stories, to an atheist, seems absolutely terrible). Take the exodus for example. Sure, their enemies suffered and were killed by a flood (which is still a metaphor...) the story tells of the liberation of a people, the freedom man can attain through struggles and hardships. This is just one of the examples where stories when taken literally seem bad, but when you actually think for a second it has deeper meanings to help guide the Church in helping and aiding those who are oppressed, like the poor. The Exodus, even though the Egyptians were defeated by "God's power" according to the story, is a story of hope and liberation, not a story of genocide. Anyways, when the Bible is connected with genocides and wars, generally the Bible has nothing to do with the war- it's just used to quasi-justify the intentions of those doing the killing. Any other well respected writing would be used in the same way- stop thinking the Bible is wrong because of the manipulations of the few. Oh, and Locke, would you stop fretting about the precise way people word things?

The bible
They knew the earth was round before 300 BC. Get your facts straight. And has been said time and time again, the Bible is valued for it's moral guidelines, not for the literal truth of the stories it tells. Not it's not. It's valued by people within it's religion. Most other people can clearly see the Bible as nothing other than a book which attempts to put across such morals and does so very badly. If it had done it in a decent way people wouldn't mistake these morals and be able to justify killing people. Sat, stop defining and belittling (sp?) the Bible as nothing more than a tool for genocide. It's getting annoying. And stop declaring the Bible as worthless because of the (few) mistakes of people interpreting it. If someone read the Lord of the Rings, and decided to go on a killing rampage partly because of a small passage he read in it, would you instantly think that we should consider the books worthless and go burn all our copies? You didn't even respond to that right. And lemme guess, you think Jesus is full of [cabbage] and no one should listen to anything he says, just because he loves his God? You seem to consider his teachings as not a path for us to follow, a precedent, but you merely see them as "a tool for genocide". C'mon Sat, stop being so hidebound. Just because I'm a Christian doesn't mean I don't value the moral guidelines of Buddhists. Why should it not go the other way?

Three Big Questions to Ask Yourself
Are you lowering yourself to the level of a mere animal? That seems a lot like Roman philosophy though, except for the nice touch of cynicism. It's basically dividing the body into parts and naming their functions, i.e. labeling us as not one living thing but a sum of parts, which is false, or at least bad, thinking. (The basic philosophy is eye=for seeing, ears=for hearing, sex organs= for reproducing). Do you really believe that if you have a purpose, it is to be nothing but to be a worthless carrier of genes? As you may have been able to tell I am an atheist and as such I have a bit of a problem with words like 'Purpose' seeing as I don't believe in destiny or any larger laid out plans for the universe, so the only real 'Purpose' for us is to pass on our genes, and if it weren't for 'worthless carriers of genes' nothing would evolve, and if nothing ever evolved then we would still be floating in primordial ooze. Just because you're an atheist doesn't mean you can't have a purpose :-s . Basically, you consider you and everyone around you to be nothing but a worthless pile of meat, built only to create more worthless piles of meat? You're no more significant than an insect in your eyes? Get past that ideology before you kill yourself, please. As Warrior said, biology is a part of it, but in all honesty, I wouldn't consider it anywhere close to one of the biggest parts.

Most Disgusting Smells. and favorite smells.
I'll admit that it's not as bad as the smell of other people's farts and b.o. (maybe because I'm just used to my own stench), but they still smell nasty :? .
