Wow.. because through playing runescape I have learned alot. I've learned ALOT more about buisnesses (along lines of merchanting etc) and gotton me more involved into learning about buisness and economics. Decision making skills.. yes.. you do learn them.. You're an idiot if you didn't learn ANYTHING about desision making skills in runescape. Honestly either I learned alot, or I'm lying to myself and I bla bla whatever you said.. And yes there is more, but the main thing is learning merchanting and moneymaking from runescape has gotton me more into Buisness/moneymaking in real life, and given me a better perspective on alot of it. By the way. Its a game.. it's played for fun. You just have to play it the right amount.. not go all hardcore. Nothing to regret. You're still living the lie. Then if you dont reach a conclusion ask yourself: If they protrayed image1 as beautiful, would I think image1 is more beautiful than image 2? Once again, how is this the media's fault? They are not physically requiring girls to be skinny and such. I realize the media is full of lies, and you said I was not aware. I'm not ignorant to the fact that most of the media is bs but I am not aware (according to you). So because you're preaching this awareness thing, I assume you are "aware" and you can criticize the media in an unbiased way. However, you cannot understand why the media functions. It functions based on society's needs and views. You dont have to go to that extent. You can just question everything you hear and see. Only fools are completely manipulated by the media.

I've been largely turned off by David Eddings, on account of the way all his characters sound the same across different series, and he has a way with screwing up potentially good story arcs with "O lol we have God on our side". That said, Althalus was good, even if it did suffer from the same faults. Eisenhorn is a great series. If you can't find the omnibus edition, the three books are Xenos, Malleus and Hereticus. If you're new to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Eisenhorn is a great place to start. And why on earth would you play on a private server if you can't gank silly Alliance on it? I guess that is why I only read one series. I understand what you said about the whole God thing...the way you put it made me laugh :P

Well, that's pretty much true. :) Of course, the girl jogging isn't wearing as much make up, and her hair hasn't been done, and her bust isn't quite so defined, etc. But the point is -- teens are seeing the "sexy images" rather than the "healthy images". Hell, it could even be the same models, but the fact is that the media is showing teens the skinny/busty aspects of the models rather than their overall health and well-being. Will do.. but after dinner. :P That is because the one without the clothes is more appealing to those teens and those teens accept it; another reason why it is our fault. If most people thought that the healthy person who isn't "trying" to look presentable was sexier she would be the one on the front of the magazine. And if you are telling me that I should think the healthy person is more beautiful then you're just as bad as the media. Ooh, what are you havin'. Making me hungry!

Of course, some people (Chomsky, McLuhan) are much more aware than others. Do you "realize the truth"? How can you partially realize it? If you realize any part of the truth, would you mind stating it? There may be minor details left, but the image as a whole has been completely redefined. So if there was no media our perception of beauty would be totally different?

You should have posted this a couple of weeks ago. Bubsa had one he would've gladly shared. Also, dont play private servers. There's really no point to that unless you want to play to quit. I've read the Belgariad series and a few from the Mallorean. It was my first encounter with fantasy literature, and since I've mostly stayed with that sort of literature ever since, I'd say they are good books and definitely worth getting into. I was around 11-13 years old at the time, so it's quite hard to say if I would still like them if I tried reading them now. I think I would though... they're not "childish" in any way I can remember. I'd say go for it. I plan on finishing all the Eddings books one day. Yeah, I read them multiple times but only once have I read them all consecutively. I'd attempted to read them like 4 or 5 times, but I could never finish it. I'd always lose a book or something. They were my first experience with true intricate fantasy (besides Harry Potter stuff).

And of course, many of us accept the media -- we have been brought up in a manner that we have no choice but to accept it. Most parents and teachers are just as ignorant about the media as the rest of society. Media class is still a very new concept in schools, and most students don't sign up for it. Just because we accept something doesn't mean it's a good thing. Take a look at binge drinking, which is "accepted" in various cultures (British, Aussie), yet it has shown to be very detrimental and even fatal to many individuals.
