  1. I dont see it as a huge problem. The entire Rewards page refers to objects that are for use outside of Daemonheim. http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/dungeoneering_rewards The only comments I have about this are that there really aren't many rewards there. And further, the highest level reward is 80. Leveling dungeoneer past 80 will only result in benefits in the dungeon zones. If you enjoy the dungeon experience, this skill will be great for you. If you dont find genuine enjoyment in playing this skill, the rewards will take a lot of work for minimal payoff. EDIT: By the way, holy crap how did I not notice the Tome of frost till now? It gives infinite water runes. Combine this with a staff of air, and we officially have the first way to cast elemental spells and consuming nothing but mind/chaos/death/blood runes. Those are REWARDS: not using the skill! - I would like to be able to do something with dungeoneering OUTSIDE of the dungeon... - so I USE the SKILL (not the rewards) to become better at other skills. - Even if better just means opening a worse method for training it is in my opinion a usefull skill. As it stands now it is just useless, apart from "rewards". (no methods etc)..
  2. Happened all the time for me.. Basically it are the little bugs the JVE stll has.... Just restarting your computer regularly helps often fixing the problem. (The bugs tend to happen with garbage collection)
  3. hey just checking out the new minigame/skill... But to progress we have to finish a puzzle, 5 pressure pads, and 5 statues are there.. What is the idea?
  4. Well seems to me eachcompleted dungeon (when increasing) also exactly increases the amount of xp you recieve for that lvl (each dungeon untill dungeon lv 5 I gained 1 level exactly)...
  5. get 1 person standing on each side of the behemoth: he can't get to the food that way.. (and once eating, will even attack only occasionally)
  6. come on, it's not even in the game yet I know, but reading the KDB I foresee it's really something you do or "don't" - Only 1 location to train (completely seperated from the rest of gielnor), and secondly all rewards seem really "untradable" type rewards. Futhermore the skill only "uses" high levels from other skills.. It doesn't really help other skills (other than by items, but guess what: the limit in bank is problematic for a multi-tasker). - Also notice the stats on the chaotic longsword: +120 stab/slash, + 120 strength! - Making the whip, or even better: the zamorak spear useless (even though it's smaller, doubling the strength is a lot)?
  7. uhm... Is this a late april fools joke? Really, it's SILLY! - "dungeoneering" It's completely out of touch with anything else from runescape.. EDIT: am I the only 1 who can't log in now? Runescape won't "update" itself anymore!
  8. Mining gem-rocks is pretty decent too.. About the same money as double nats... Another thing: mining granite..
  9. Uhm then what is the point of playing ONLINE? - We're moving to a game where everything is single player...
  10. Not if you stay in closed range.. (and if you're ranging, their mage attack isn't that difficult to overcome with some karils/black dhide) Also remember the MA bank is pathetically close, and very easy to access might there be any problem (you can literary get back to your grave in 30 secs)
  11. I wrote content for another site at the time of release of MEP2 and was personally asked by Mod Mark not to write a guide for it. However they can not in anyway, shape, or form stop people from writing guides. They can REQUEST it, and people (Tip.It for example) abided by it for respect for Jagex, not for legal reasons. Ya they can't really use "brute force" to control fan sites, but they can use back-stab attacks to control them. All they have to say is: "Monitor all your threads and anyone posting a picture/knowledge of any unfair game-play/bug should be reported to us. If you don't comply with this your fan-site will be starred-out and reportable if said in-game." With a small quick step they have control of any fan-sites they want, and in the same way promote the ones over those that do not follow them. I'm not saying Jagex is "bad" per-say, I'm just saying its a move that, if not watched closely, could potentially end up ruining the great community we have produced here. Limiting ad's doesn't bother me, but the moment censorship begins here for in-game content, I feel that would be the end of any community freedom and individuality. Actually, I'm not even sure if that's allowed.. Secondlife once tried to block saying an alternative game's name.. But was forced to unblock by the european government..
  12. They are pretty pathetically weak.. Basically any decentish melee armour is enough. Remember they DO poison though, so a bunyip/anti poison should be needed. - Also watch for their 'burrow' attacks, that attack IS deadly..
  13. I actually like the rswiki/zybez more for being staying independent now... That rating really describes in my opinion "jagex-hugging" amount. - critical sites won't show up (yet they are best when reviewing a game, and seeing what needs to be done)..
  14. A summary: "Let's just destroy the fun for others, even at the cost of our own fun!"
  15. I wasn't being serious. But it frustrates *me* that I spend hours and hours of time already providing useful free reports, but some people apparently expect me to spend a solid week of my life laboriously writing down every damage splat from killing hundreds of monsters, just because they have some nonsensical aversion to my testing that they can't even explain. Neither can you :P - I would've loved to see what the standard error would be in your test. I think it's about 2-3 times the difference between warrior/beserker in the graphs.. (meaning you can only guess with a 10-20% certainity that a is better than b in certain cases. But if you look at the graphs, you'll notice the differences are very, very minimal, even to the "original" value. - Wouldn't another ring be more beneficial in such cases? (wealth, or my favourite - the slayer ring.. It saves 1 inventory space).
  16. You're better off in the blog section... secondly: people like to read, NOT see fancy coloured letters.. It's annoying if you colour most of your text. (especially if you go for black which goes very bad with the standard colour set at this forum).
  17. Uhm IF you can get your hands on wergali: was buying them for max last week and only managed to get 20 of them in 1 week! Anyways, something I found out: sometimes (like with farming herbs, or fighting monsters) it is better to not go for the "best profitable" item, but rather the second best.. Reason being that the second best is often a less used method, giving a "more quiet" market, and the "spots" are less often taken already!
  18. Are there (non) official worlds that are busy with people who actually play the game then?
  19. hmm ok.. so untill I do at least 50 games there's no reward? Also, what's up with this, everyone seems to be simply ignoring everything and just quit the game after 5 mins at siege.. How can you have any fun that way?
  20. Hey, wanted to test mobilizing armies out.. So I went into a game. 2 people left at the start, and the last person I defeated within 4 mins (he seemed to be afk?). - I invested 50 credits, but now I don't have any credits left, where are my credits gone to?
  21. Lol what conscience? It's a game. Remember that RL > RS. You could pay your way through school, like Duke Freedom. OT: I don't condone or promote cheating in any way, so don't do it. It's against teh rules. That's the problem, as long mentality like that exist, there will always be botters around. Sure you are making good money and stuff, but it's like breaking the rules to earn the money, and justify that its ok because its a game. Well that just kind of blurrs out the moral for many things. Then people would justified that the people that in China that used to work in gaming sweat shops are trying to earn money too to actually make a earning not trying to get better flashy gadget like teens in North America. Who knows, maybe 10 hours to them would equal a decent meal or bag of rice that last for several days. Even it sounds legitimate, its still not right down in the sense. I also hear people talking about it as well, and it seems like the less impact it has on real life, the less important it is, people just get desensitize to those kind of things because its not a big deal to everyone. I guess only time it will affect is when every server has 1.5k autoers, and all the legitimate player quits and RS have to close down its door to make it somewhat significant? I mean, it's only a game, and no one is dying over it (that was sarcasm), it just mean that some hundred of people lost their jobs to maintain the game, and players simply lose another form of entertainment (of course, this is greatly exaggerated) I always go by this rule, when you are about to do something, if that voice inside your mind that tells you its good or bad, then its probably the honest truth. Too many times people just choose to ignore it, or justify it to make it sounds ok. [/hide]Who is Duke Freedom? One of the richest and most respected merchants who got banned for RWT a few years ago . I believe he got about $20k out of his pixels to pay for school. Would've got much more if he didn't get banned. If anyone remembers r2pleasent (sp?), also one of the big merchants at the time, he's been a big player in the RWT market as well. That is roughly 3.3~ billion GP sold. There are hundreds of people who have that much if not way more. If he was a good(skilled or good at hacking) staker, he could make that in a few days. Uhm whe're talking about 2006-2007 here.. People weren't quite near those amounts of money, crackers were still regularly being sold for 500-600M back then. Anyways, that won't even nearly pay of his educations.. Costs alone for uni are 3000 euros a year here in the netherlands (duke freedom was from the netherlands).. An average "good" study takes 7 years to accomplish: 21000 euros.. Now add to that books (another 1000 euros a year), rent for a room (300 euros a months, 3600 euros yearly).. And then we don't even have food, social life and beer counted yet!
  22. Hmm sounds to me as a small bug somewhere in the applet.. Did you try deleting the RS cache? (remember to close rs down, and wait a few seconds for JAVA to close down too before deleting this, also C:\Windows should obviously be the windows-dir... If you installed windows in another location it might be somewhere else. Futhermore if you can't find the directory, copy-paste the above in the adress bar. (by default windows doesn't display names starting with a dot, and UAC will go crazy if you go into the windows directory.
  23. They way RS checks ping isn't really "good": it only sends out 4 ping messages and averages these. This is very error prone thanks to the randomness of the internet (a message might -in a certain case- be blocked for the shortest way and thus increasing the time)... A continious ping would be necessary to calculate lag (as well as a packet loss test/bandwidth test) from the players perspective. With rs' build in lag-test you will see spikes (mostly upwards though). On the other hand, even FPS games are easily playable in the 80 ms ping region: that's less than 1/10th of a second "lag" you might experience. RS has a 0.6 second "game clock", meaning only once every 0.6 seconds you actually send a stream of packages to the server. Thus the ping wouldn't really matter much (since you're slowed down by the game clock anyways).. As long as the ping is below 300 one shouldn't notice any difference! Also, a ping between 5-20 is normal for LAN connections.. For "local" (close as in amsterdam to berlin), you'll often be looking at 30-150 ms ping.. Overseas, (like from west europe to the UK) it'll be in the vincity of 100-200 ms And the far-regions you'll be looking at 150-500 ms. (higher than 500 ms should be considered a broken connection nowadays) Notice that these aren't "definite" values, as we all know a packet isn't specified a certain route to follow.. Rather if it comes to a "hub" that hub looks at all connected hubs, and forwards the package to all those hubs it considers "possible in the right direction". As a introduction test for CS we were asked to check which places our ping package went through.. When pinging the University of Eindhoven from the University of Delft: one of the student's ping message went through Delphi! But anyways, I mostly get 30-70 ping on the RS servers.. (at least those in europe). And that's even with my glass fibre connection (100MBit up/down)
  24. Or they could do something like, doubling the amount of knives you get/bar.. That would nearly half the price of knives, and allows you easily to compare adamant knives to broad bolts. And since it would half the price of knives exactly, it would also make smithing *a bit* more profitable.. Making knives even cheaper would probably do nothing to rebalance ranged. If it made rune knives as expensive as addy bolt, I'm sure many would use rune knives instead!
