  1. HAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH, was funny the first time I read, rediculously stupid the second time round. And FYI, I'm only 16 and I can pay with a debit card...Maybe it's different for us British people. probably not, but i dont have a debit card
  2. He meant for F2pers. no, i mean for all players in general. i know that since we dont pay, f2pers probably wont get these updates. however, we should get the update in chat interface, customer support, etc as well as p2pers. the other updates would benefit f2pers by raising the prices of items that we can already obtain. For example, steel smelting is a good way to make money now, since members can use it to make cannonballs. Mith and addy smelting is horrible for moneymaking since the demand for them is lower.
  3. these days, inflation favors the rich, especially older players. The reason that so many new players complain about rares is because they cant afford them. Older and richer players started investing when rares were still affordable. i've been playing rs for about a year on f2p, but i still cant afford even an easter egg, although i have enough money now to buy a santa hat last year. most people miss a valid point now. The demand for rares isnt really increacing much anymore from the influx of new players, since anyone who cant afford a rare now probably never will. The reason the prices are going up is: 1) a few rares get banned or dropped. this isnt a very important reason, since it probably doesnt happen very often. However, the public perception that the number of rares is decreacing affects the price 2) money is going in to the game, since the value of gp keeps going down, naturally it takes more to buy a rare *3) the biggest reason is that most people buy rares to make money and therefore they refuse to sell for less then they bought the rare *4) the other biggest reason is that people are hoarding their rares instead of selling them. since fewer people are selling it seems like less rares exist and people are then willing to spend more for them
  4. i added some links for more info on the individual ideas. Anyone have some new suggestions? and a sticky would be nice if any mods think this thread deserves it... =P~
  5. 1. And how is that a problem??? 2. absolutely true--and therin lies the downfall to this plan :wall:
  6. That's a good idea, but you're a little late. Jagex just announced in the "Behind the Scenes" for august that those very prayers will be released this month! Actually, they only announced that yesterday, so your timing couldnt be worse! :XD:
  7. ok, so this is almost a joke topic- a silly idea, but not spam. Jagex would never do this, but it does bring up a good point. Every time you click on the ad banner at the top of the page, jagex makes money. What if after you click the banner say... 15 times, you get a complimentary membership, but you still have the ad bar. Jagex would actually make more money from this kind of members :XD:. and then i wouldnt need to ask my parents to use their credit card for :shudder :uhh: : an internet game! or i could just wait 11 months until i turn 18 and can legally have my own card...:D
  8. i disagree 1) smithing is the only skill (other than construction) that gives you a new ability almost every level up to and including 99. you dont just get satisfaction for training smithing 2) the blast furnace is like a smithing guild, after reaching lvl 60 smithing, you can get in for free  3) not all guilds are that great. no one bothers with the cooking guild
  9. Everyone keeps suggesting new and outrageous updates to make runescape bigger, but also more complex/confusing. But... since jagex keeps expanding the game at a rapid rate, they miss several holes in gameplay and not everything fits in place. Before we all worry about adding new skills, quests, minigames, etc., jagex needs to work on making what they have better. My main concerns are: A- all items(other than certain quest items only used for that one quest) should be re-obtainible and have a real use. Items only used during a quest and no other time should be untradible and obtainible only during the quest.(e.g. the ammy of accuracy can only be received once per account) B-all skills should have everyday uses and/or moneymaking potential(other than agility, which is a standalone skill and construction, which is a way to spend money) C- the interfaces D- the support system #-o Here are some specific examples of what i mean (plus some links to related topics): 1)The firemaking skill: it was added at the very beginning of runescape and always had lots of potential as a skill. Unfortunately, not much was done with it and the only uses are cooking food away from ranges, lighting lanterns, and shadeburning(which is more of a minigame than an actual use...) There is almost no reason to raise your firemaking lvl since a normal log fire is the same thing as a magic log fire. -->see fm topic 2)silver: 99.9% of silver is crafted into tiaras or unstrung symbols and dumped in stores. there should be more uses for silver, especially one that requires a continuous supply and uses up the silver (notice how most rings break after a while and must be replaced) the new silver bolts are just what i was hoping for! :P 3)banking: the current bank system is disorganized and hard for players to manage all the time. There should be several bank pages based on category to keep similar items together. -->see bank page topic 4)report abuse: Its very annoying to report a large group of autoers with difficult names (i.e. names containing lots of spaces and 0O0O type patterns) The 1 minute delay between reports should also be removed. lastly, after reporting someone, there should be a confirmation screen in case you made a mistake. -->see report abuse topic 5)What we really need is a trade negotiation window. A seperate window for talking to the person you're trading with. Im sure everyone has been in the situation when theyre in world 1/3/whatever and they're trying to buy something in varrock and just cant see what their trading partner is saying. When you open a trade window your chat should change so you can only see what you and the other person is saying. This way you can save all the time spent trying to find out what theyre saying or what theyre charging (suggested by krogiecom) --- these are just a few ideas. there will be more later. everyone please feel free to give some criticism or new ideas! Also, if you like an idea, you can submit it on the official RS forums for me (im still only f2p  ) note- i know many of these issues have been addressed before, i'm just compiling them into one thread to make it easier

can u use a friend's guilded altar, or do you need to make your own for it to work?
  11. Nice article! I support completely Jagex's rules and updates (other than the annoying pure ess one #-o ) My one real problem is rule #1(offensive language) and the chat filter. It is definately an important rule, but way too conservative in my opinion. I think that censoring the main bad words and a few common misspellings would be sufficient. Words like "CRAP" and "BUTT" that i dont consider bad words (annoying in most contexts, yes, but no worse then the word "NOOB") are filtered, and so many misspellings, that its hard to say normal things without getting filtered. for instance, my rsn, ikraz55 shows up as i*raz55, and i have no idea why. Annoying kids (who arent supposed to be playing runescape anyway) will always find new ways to abuse the filter, and instead of making the game worse for the rest of us, they can simplify the chat filter, and encourage us to report the curse-spammers instead.
  12. Just wondering. The title says it all...
  13. they dont give the best xp, they give the most xp each. there's a huge difference. First of all you can only enchant 14 tiaras per run, and second of all you can only enchant 1 at a time. You can craft up to 28 ess per run, all in 1 click. Saying tiaras are the best rc'ing xp is like saying genie lamps are the best woodcutting xp. Sure you can get more xp by using the lamp, but they're so rare that its not worth it.
  14. rune scim, anti fire shield, strength potion, protect from melee if you have it. I beat elvarg at lvl 50 with no armor and only tuna for food. not hard.
  15. I sold a blue skirt(t) via the forums for 115k, but i called it a wiz robe bottom. After the trade, he got mad and tried to get me to trade back, then he claimed i was scamming for selling the wrong item. I thought blue skirt and robe bottom was the same thing. Can i get banned for this?
  16. currently, i think its 11M(easter eggs)_to_500M???(blue phats) and all the prices go up fast. There are other things than rares to merchant, but if you have the cash, rares =P~ are the way to go... i still can't afford an easter egg...
  17. ok, i think this is proof that higher lvl logs don't burn longer. That argument is over: Firemaking faq from the knowledge base
  18. actually, I combined them all to str pots(4) and i was doing very well, selling them for 1k ea, when i got scammed. Not a big deal, but i did lose about 100k and wasted all my time.
  19. the old saying, "it takes money to make money" is true here. It takes a good 11 mil or so to start merching rares now, as the cheapest one (easter eggs) cost that much now. I'm not how much money you have left after the incident, but it takes at least 10-20k just to start merching, and at least 100k to make a good profit. You could mine coal and mith in the guild pretty quickly and sell that for a high price. I dont think you can easily make a profit from smelting mith. Your runecrafting lvl isnt good enough to make much money in f2p. You could probably make more money by running airs (in world 16). your magic lvl is ok, so you could telegrab a bunch(100 or more) of zammy wines and sell 1k each. It takes money to buy laws though(300 ea if you're lucky :P ). The best merchanting advice i can give you, if you have enough money, is that stores usually sell cheaper than players. You can usually buy willows in fally gen store for 12 ea, then resell for 35 ea once you have over 2k. I think oaks make a better profit, not sure though. Either way, this is faster than cutting the logs yourself. Or you could buy eyes of newt at the port sarim magic store and resell 60 ea, but it's far from a bank. Stackable items are usually easier to get, since you dont need to run to a bank when you get a full load. Low level runes used to be good, but not since the pure ess update. Arrows are the way to go. All stores get reset after game updates, so that's a good time to buy bronze and iron arrows at the varrok arrow store. Addy arrows can be bought in the rimmington arrow store for a good price (dont buy for over 110 ea, keep world hopping) and resold in varrok world 1/3 for 150-200 ea.
  20. you could try crumble undead on the Ankous(lvl 75,82,or 86) in the security stronghold. They seem to be very weak against the spell and they have some nice drops, including lots of addy arrows. The room with lvl 75's has a safespot, but if you want to use it, it really helps to use a full server. If the room has lots of melee trainers, they can stop other ankous from going around the safespot and attacking you. Probably not necessary if you bring armor and food. Do chaos gauntlets work for crumble undead? If yes, stick to that spell.
  21. So am i better off combining them to str pots(4), or selling them as is?
  22. well i did spend 420k on them, but i think i'm only risking 100k +/- gp in the long run. On world 3, almost everyone buys and sells str pots(4) for 1k ea. Btw, how much are water filled vials worth?
  23. meh, jagex would just as soon destroy the real rares as they would do this. Here's a better idea: the next time someone tries to sell banana slices for 20 mil, report them. No one with 20 mil would actually fall for it anyway. even if they get rid of fake rares, there will still be scammers. Blame the scammers, not the items.
