Atronic92's Shilo gem mining guide [updated 10/30]
it may be a good idea to bank some of the cut shilo gems without making bolt tips (especially the jade ones since you need blurite bolts to fletch them). That way you could sell the gems in tai bwo wannai for fast trading sticks!

guide in earning craft xp by drop leather[ now on video! ]
very good guide! actually i used this method most of the way from lvl 50-60 crafting and it really works! Its cheaper than buying hides. i just might want to add that its faster when you find a world with pures killing cows for exp. I just pick up their hides. or you could hire them to pick up their own hides and give them to you which saves even more time! Also, some people say that making bowls in the guild is better exp than cowhides, but i tried it and it was actually slower than cowhides!

Guide to QUICK high alching! Pics Included!
if the whole point of this is so you dont accidentally move the mouse cursor and need to move it back to high alch again, you could just PICK UP THE MOUSE while high alching. then your cursor will never move. If you have a laptop then its even easier since the mouse buttons can be clicked without moving the mouse cursor! Using sticky keys is overkill in my opinion.

Tip.It Times Presents: Is there a "For Sale"...
I do NOT think that Jagex would actually sell any of their ideas to other companies. This might cause more competition for Jagex, and then they'd actually LOSE money in the long run. That said, I can't see any reasons why Jagex would consider selling out. With new content being released every week, i cant imagine the Gower brothers getting bored any time soon. Also consider that no company would buy jagex unless they expect to make a profit. IAC may offer $500 million, but if Jagex is worth that much to IAC, then it should be worth more to Andrew, since he would make more money in the long run.

simple farming update
We should be able to dig up plants before they either mature or die of disease- while they are still growing. I know this idea sounds like a horrible mistake, but think about it this way: you probably have hundreds of potato and cabbage seeds cluttering your bank that you can either throw out or plant. the problem is that they give horrible exp and are a waste of time. my solution is that you can plant them for exp, then immediatly dig them up and plant a new one. This would be an easier way to gain small amounts of exp, and would finally give a use for those annoying onion seeds clogging my bank.

Add some SKILL to the skills!
i like the mining idea ephlin, and by the way, zyrm, i dont expect any of these things to come out soon, if at all, and the more advanced ideas would certainly not appear until rs3 comes out (IF it comes out). Jagex doesnt need to upgrade the engine to add skill to the game.
-
Add some SKILL to the skills!
i'm not asking for a complete overhaul, although, some of these ideas may not be possible on the current game engine. It would be nice if jagex just added some new skill based minigames. I like the games room, but there's simply no rewards for winning there, so no one bothers to go there.
-
Add some SKILL to the skills!
I'm not suggesting that they take anything OUT of the game to make it more difficult for everyone (except the ranging minigame), but just add these features as an alternative for people up to the challenge! If anyone likes these ideas, be sure to show your support! Similar ideas are also accepted and i will add any ideas that i like to the first post (i will credit you for your ideas if you post them)!

Add some SKILL to the skills!
There are two ways to train a skill, the fast(er) way and the slow(er) way. The fast way earns better exp, but wastes lots of money (a.k.a. power training). The slow way is bad exp, but it is good money (it's also usually more boring). Runescape is complex and addicting, but when it comes to gaining experience, almost every method gets its "difficulty" from being tedious and taking forever. Basically, the high scores list shows people's patience and persistence, but not their talent. Whenever Jagex releases a new feature that gives fast exp, people complain that it will make the game too easy for everyone and the high scores will become meaningless. What if, in several future updates, Jagex adds some methods to gain FASTER exp in some skills, but the methods are more difficult. They would require some more problem solving ability, or coordination for the actual player and have less to do with their character level. Some ideas: 1) In agility, a course should be added where you can control whether or not you fail the obstacles. Balancing on logs and narrow beams would be work like holding a grind in the Tony Hawk games. You need to work on your timing for other obstacles. The higher your agility level is, however, the easier it is to pass the obstacles. You would get extra exp for completing a lap without failing any obstacles, so it would only be excellent exp it you can handle it! 2)A thieving minigame could be added where you complete puzzles to disarm traps or open doors, find secret items, etc. There could be sliding tile puzzles, riddles, and many more. You would get exp for solving the puzzles, so obviously you could get better exp by solving the puzzles faster. 3)Change the ranging minigame in the ranging guild so that to actually hit the target and get a bullseye, you need to aim manually. Maybe add moving targets. 4)Add some rewards to the games rooms! :wall:

Tip.It Times Presents: Cooking: A Skill of its Own
its a little off topic, but i also think they should add a food that is stackable, so you can store as much as you want in one space. However, the food would be expensive to make and only heal 1 hp, so it would be good for thieving and agility, for example, but bad for combat and pking since it heals too slow. It should also not be fish based, because thats the whole point of this argument. Potato chips anyone? \

Tip.It Times Presents: Cooking: A Skill of its Own
I definitely think cooking shouldn't be split into two skills. A lot of people who trained with pies, pizzas, and wines would be furious that they lost that option. I dont think i cooked a single fish until i was a level 40 cook (i used to hate the fishing skill). Cooking fish is a great way to get exp, but its a horrible way to make money. Cooked fish and raw fish are both the same price by the way. This would make fish cooking the most limited skill in the game, even worse than firemaking. The reason Jagex added high lvl non-fish foods (brewing, high lvl pies, cooked potatoes) isnt so we have a better way to train cooking, its so that cooks can make money from the skill. Splitting the cooking skill would be like splitting the magic skill. Think about it, magic is the only combat skill that is used mainly for non combat purposes. Training magic with high alch or other skill based spells increaces your combat lvl, but doesnt give you any hitpoint xp. But i dont think that Jagex would ever seperate these into two skills. People who spent countless hours and gp on the magic skill would need to do it all over again! That said, we definately need improvements on the guild. There should be a section added to the guild (members only or not) for high level cooks. It should include a cooking store and a bank.

Everyone's thoughts on the new crossbows?
i like the new crossbows actually, the specials look pretty cool, and emerald bolts(e) are probably the cheapest way to super poison someone! Btw, the old "normal bolts" dont exist anymore. they were replaced with bronze bolts.

worst armor for magic?
if you're f2p you can also use the security stronghold boots for a small anti magic bonus. If you want the magic bonus even lower, drop the earth staff and use a metal warhammer for a -3 bonus.

New combat skill...
Maybe someday culinaromancy will be a skill of its own, or part of the summoning skill (can't wait for that one...). After RFD, i realized how cool it would be if i could wield the culinaromancer's powers. It would be similar to normal magic, but food based, not rune based. Or maybe it could be a new spell book (like ancients, lunar, etc.). It would be unlocked by a new quest as a sequel to rfd.

Smith and Craft 'X' options
a lot of people dont know this, but hardleather bodies can be much faster exp than coifs because there ISN'T a hardleather menu. When you make 10 coifs, it crafts at a constant speed, but if you click fast enough, you can make 10 hardleather bodies in half the time.
-
Crafting
i never said it was cheap... only that it was fast. Although it cost more like 1.2 million since i started this method from lvl 60 crafting.
-
Crafting
I just got my crafting lvl to 70 in a week and i'm f2p 8-) . by far, the fastest way in f2p is crafting hardleather bodies. First, buy hides for 100 ea in the al kharid bank, then run to the tanner, make hard leather and click on the bank, craft them all as you walk back. This only works with hard leather. Not soft leather because soft leather has a menu. Silver is also nearly as fast. Just buy silver bars or mine them in the crafting guild. Then make holy symbols in al kharid furnace. A lot of people prefer making tiaras, since they give 52.5 exp each vs 50 exp for holy symbols, but holy symbols are actually better. Holy symbols dont weigh anything and tiaras are quite heavy, so you save lots of time by running to the furnace with holy symbols. Holy symbols also give 20 gp when sold to stores but tiaras only give 10 gp. For cheap exp, kill cows by the crafting guild, then tan them and craft. then either drop the leather armor or sell them in the rimmington general store. Crafting bowls in the guild might be slightly faster, but i haven't timed it, so i'm not positive. Plus, killing cows is good for combat \

Tip.It Times Presents: Preaching to the Choir
Nice article sligo 8-)! You've always been one of the most intelligent people on this forum and i'd be surprised if you haven't already gotten requests to join the tip.it staff. Btw, sometimes i wonder how its possible that there are so many scammers in runescape, and how they are ALL THE SAME! Is there some international runescape cheaters convention or something? Because thats my only LOGICAL theory! :wall:

firemaking? whats the point
you could always be like me and use the range in port sarim. Its a short walk from the lobby docks and you burn less food. Or you could wait for someone else to light a fire. Btw, i didn't suggest we get rid of the firemaking skill, only make it better. I think i'd be pretty annoyed if i spend time and money raising the firemaking skill to 99 and then they got rid of it. :boohoo: I don't want to make fires just for the exp.

These are the kind of updates we NEED...
Agreed =D>

These are the kind of updates we NEED...
i didn't make this thread so that f2pers can complain about how they don't get enough new features. That belongs on the RANTS forum. the ONLY part i agree on is that we should get more customer support and more f2p player mods. I am a pure f2per and i recognize the fact that Jagex is a business, and their main source of revenue is subscription fees. When i get bored of what f2p has to offer, I'll actually pay for the premium stuff. F2p servers have gotten several graphical updates, new randoms and clothing, and a new security dungeon in the last year alone, but people still complain that we don't get updates. :shame:

These are the kind of updates we NEED...
The minigame is the use. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Are you saying Castle Wars isnt a use of combat? Or Pest Control isnt a use of combat? Or Barrows isnt a use of combat? Why should you? Id beg to differ 100%. The use of hardleather is to allow players quicker experience with cowhides, at a higher price. The body also provides higher defensive stats the a normal leather body. Should Jagex get rid of blurite too, since it has few uses? 99.9% of bows end up dumped into the alch pool. One only needs so many tiaras before you throw them away. Same with bows. Who has a need for thousands of bows on hand at all times? 1)minigames could be considered uses, but i'm specifically talking about ways to profit directly from a skill, generally by making something with it and selling that to other players 2) true, hard leather is pretty good xp for free players. good point, removing that from first post. as for blurite, it can be used for fletching now, so i dont see anything wrong with it. 3)i have no problem with using holy symbols for training only and selling to stores. I'm only saying there should be something made with silver that requires a continuous supply. like silver bolts. and i do consider high alching a use for yew bows, since you can make a profit off it. um.. thats kinda the whole point of this topic. At least i credited them for their ideas, so it isnt really a rip off.

Tip.It Times Presents: It's Getting Better All The Time!
that's weird, tip.it times keeps stealing ideas for articles right from my head. except this time i actually posted a similar topic in the discussions and suggestions forum last week. :-k http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=510987
