Pures.
the best is a hybrid pure. if you keep one combat skill higher than the others, your combat lvl is determined solely by that highest lvl skill if you stick to one, remember the combat triangle, it depends. in general, mage is the best for low lvl f2p pkers since your max hit goes up rapidly in low levels of the magic skill. For higher levels, a melee/range hybrid is better because melee has the best max hit.

after cooking they will probably go to firemaking or fletching, the next fastest skills.

We should only need to set up one account
some people actually make noob accounts for no reason other than to bother people for fun. These people wouldnt do this if it could cause all their accounts to get banned. see http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=309853

from the tip.it times interviews on nova and zez, it sounds like novalyfe spends all his time playing rs and zezima actually has a life. If you measure the time they've been playing in hours, novalyfe has probably played almost as long or longer than zez. before construction came out, they were both training cooking(the first skill for someone to max out at 200 mil exp) and they are both getting close to maxing out, but nova is closer

Umlimited Mining?
jagex purposefully makes all decent mining spots far from banks and makes all ores take time to respawn. Yet there are still many lvl 99 miners. Can you imagine what would happen if they made it easier? I could mine rune ores in 3 days from my current mining lvl! It defeats the entire purpose of TRAINING. As for woodcutting being faster, it evens out since logs cost less.

We should only need to set up one account
Out of all the major parts of this game the one that really bugs me is that people need to make pures to be successful in the wilderness. The issue is that you need lots of money and time to train these other accounts, and any interaction with your other accounts is forbidden under punishent of banning. Most people choose not to train skills on these accounts, and to be merchants instead. this is fine, but since most people care less about their secondary accounts, they are more likely to scam, cheat, use autoers, or break other rules. This is a constant bother to me in banks across the "free" world. I do not pk, and i wont until there is a solution added. Here are some of my solutions: 1) include a way to lower your combat level in the wildy. for instance, a potion that lowers your combat stats can also lower your combat lvl temporarily. perhaps, you can lower your combat before entering the wilderness, and it stays down until you leave. pros: easy, doesnt require pure accounts so you can pk with your main cons: perhaps too easy, stat lowering pots can be expensive, people can take advantage of it for scamming or other evil purposes 2) allow trading/ drop trading between accounts pros: doesnt require jagex to do much, people try this already, allows accounts to share wealth cons: we would see a rise in mule accounts (accounts used only for extra bank space), people can save their items if one account gets banned, would most likely encourage autoing 3)this is the one that I REALLY wanted to discuss! Jagex could make it so you only get one account, but can add a limited amount of playable characters to that account. Only 1 can be used at the same time, but they all share 1 bank account. Therefore, you can train combat pures and skill pures until your fingers bleed, and dont need to worry about setting up new accounts and drop-trading between them. Of course jagex makes much of their money from people who buy members for more than 1 account. My solution to this is that you pay the normal price for your first char. to become a member, and then you pay a reduced price for each additional member character. Jagex could actually get more money 8-) this way since more people would get multiple member chars. pros:no more need for several accounts, easiest for players, jagex can ban someone's account, then ALL of their chars. go away, most likely a HUGE reduction of scams and rule-breaking, jagex makes more money cons: could have a major impact on the runescape economy, fewer merchants, requires a complete reworking of the game mechanics for jagex, and would render hundreds of "pure" accounts useless thank you for taking the time to read this and feel free to add anything you like,(i may edit it in) Please no flaming. Constructive criticism only. :D

The Magic "Rant" - Why is magic as expensive as it
i think this belongs on the "rants" section just to let you know that said, the biggest advantage of magic for f2p is that you can hit higher at low levels than on either melee or range. note that at higher levels (over 59) mage pking isnt as useful as ranging and melee combat. its true that magic is the most expensive combat skill in the long run, but it is no where as expensive to train as you stated. First of all, EVERYBODY who trains mage seriously uses an elemental staff. Secondly, it cost me very little to get from level 29 to 44 since i used the curse method (important: i failed the spell each time) with an earth staff. lastly, earth strike is cheaper for the same exp in the long run than fire strike since you only need 1 air per cast, but no one really does this since its so slooooow! the curse method is cheaper and somewhat faster, but remember, YOU DONT GET ANY EXP FOR HP THIS WAY. the main advantage of using combat spells is that you can autocast, and you get hp exp when you hit the enemy! i hope this helps

How much is full iron?
this is probably off-topic, but there is a steel pbody spawn in the center of the lava maze in lvl 35 or so wildy. Right next to the lesser demon 8-) also, theres an iron kite drop near the chaos dwarves around lvl 30 wildy. None of these options are recomended for anyone.

Need money..
air company is a group of people on world 16 (at the air altar  ) that give you money for running ess to them. its a fast way to level runecrafting at higher levels, but a great way for the rest of us to make decent cash. all you need is 25 ess to start and an air talisman/tiara. you usually get 2.5k gp per run. If you need better instructions, check the air company's forum topic on the runescape official forums. Theres a link in a recent tip.it times, like i said earlier :P unfortunately, the price of full iron is very low, since most people can make it. in fact you make MUCH more just by selling the equivelant number of iron ores/ bars. At your smithing lvl, i would actually recomend steel bars, since they are worth 600 ea. or, take this idea... go to the wildy with full iron plus a steel scimi (you make all of it yourself) go to a high level area, and start killing low levels, take their armor and food, and keep killing better and better people until you finally have full addy.

Need money..
i second this. whenever someone needs money advice i suggest the air company. just make sure you check their forum topic first (official forums, not tip.it) there's a link in the "are you official" issue of tip.it times

Estimating the total amount of gp in RuneScape
hmmm, i'm trying to find any major mistakes, but i can only find small ones. First of all, a lot of people, especially skill pures, can't high alch and prefer to sell their items to the store (in bulk) for a reduced price. Secondly, many high level crafters (i'm workin on mine this way... :) ) are f2p only and use silver to raise crafting. I think we can assume that almost NOBODY high alchs holy symbols or tiaras  . In addition, i think about half of all smiths prefer to train by making iron platebodies instead of steel, which would bring in less money lastly, dont a lot of fletchers make darts and arrows instead of bows?

Locked Account? Passwords Leaked? - Main Discussion Thread
oh well, thanks to this issue, i completely lost my low level range pure. kinda wierd that i decided to use that account name for the forums, but i used the same password on runescape as the forum. and i didnt bother to set recovery questions or a bank pin, so jagex wont unlock the account

Can you get the bear head back if you die?

help with training
cows are still the best for people who dont want to bring food. plus, for low levels, the cows provide food. remember, exp is determined by the damage you infict, not when u kill the monster. So cows are a good deal until your max hit goes above 8.

Firemaking, money
im sure that you can use the headlamp for some moneymaking. i'm not sure, i'm f2p and i dont know which dungeons need lanterns. I do know that firemaking is a very quick and fun skill to level. Its also the fastest cheap exp on f2p servers since you can just buy unlimited amounts of oaks and willows in the lumby gen store. Thats the one thing i like about autoers. they keep the store full of logs 8-) . Unfortunately its not worth banking and selling these logs since theres no bank nearby on free servers. :(

Can you get the bear head back if you die?
all non-tradible holiday items can be replaced too, so its a good idea to drop them if u need bank space.

guide to the economy of runescape and how to get started
OMG, I HAVE ESP!!! amazing, i came up with some of the same ideas as you already, including primary, and secondary skills. i also wanted to add tertiary skills, AKA combat skills. But they dont really fit into this economy/moneymaking guide post. Lastly, the quaternary skill is prayer, which comes from combat. This is important b/c bones are another moneymaker. i was actually thinking of incorporating these ideas into an article and submitting it as a possible tip.it times article. Right on man.
