  1. I'm against it but I'm against alcohol all together. I wish nobody would drink. But then, alcohol has caused my family too much grief so I have a reason to hate it.
  2. I was blond haired blue eyed up until I was four. Now I just have plain old brown hair.
  3. When I was younger I used to have dreams where it would seem as though I woke up. The room would be lit up with a blueish color sort of as though the moonlight was strong enough to slightly light my room. There would be this figure sitting on my bed just staring at me and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't help but stare back. My eyes wouldn't close and I couldn't move. I used to be scared of them but now I wish I could have one again because it seems interesting. Oh well. The only dreams I tend to have now are pretty good dreams. Dreams that piss me off when they end and I wake up. Some dreams are so great and vivid that when I wake up, I'm overjoyed because I think they were real. Then I remember that they aren't and I go back to sleep feeling somewhat let down.
  4. Gotta love David Blaine's exceptionally awesome street magic.
  5. That wasn't a very good post, you're looking into it too practically and being nitpicky. The question was good enough to spark the discussion and debates that it has done. Yes thats good and all. The problem though, is that scientifically, it was terrible. There is no way to prove either side without looking at it specifically. Ergo, a stalemate. I have to agree. The questions leaves too many different scenarios. I doesn't specifically give one piece of information so you're forced to look at it from both points of view and make assumptions based on both sides.
  6. Like, Nadril said, this isn't one of your better recent tags. I'm completely fine with the border but I don't care much for the style. Then again, that's purely opinion. The blurry background was already brought up but it bothers me a bit too. My eyes are drawn to it and then it almost makes my head hurt when I look at it. I know what you were trying to do but it didn't seem to turn out well.
  7. My friend's name online is Cefy Jr. He just was typing in four random letters for a Zelda game and came up with Cefy. After that, he added Jr. Try to go for a simple name with no numbers. Numbers ruin names though I contradict myself with my new name. Fata1. Just choose something original, unlike my current name.
  8. Well, what if you have a plane like a Hornet which can takeoff/land vertically? Or a turboprop with engines that force air over the wings? Then you have a completely different problem, now don't you?
  9. Jungle Love by the Steve Miller Band and next will be Don't Stop Believin' by Journey.
  10. No. Assuming you're talking to ktmcf121 and I, we have made assumptions arguing for both scenarios. We have also given the result to both scenarios.
  11. Why do some people like you have this huge urge to defend those people? They raped children, robbed honest people out of millions of dollars, killed innocent bystanders... Their opinion doesn't matter. They chose to do it and should be punished to the full extent of the law, or are you proposing they should be given balloons and a ticket to Disneyworld? "Being stuck in a correctional institution"... Jesus, they should be happy they get to live! You obviously have no idea about real poverty, or maybe you just haven't experienced it. A western prison, to a person in a third world country who earns $1 a day is a paradise, family or not. Those people don't even dream of buying books or having internet access. The thing is that according to our constitution we cannot enforce cruel and unusual punishment. One could argue that forcing these men to live under the bridge is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. I'm not saying what they did is right and I'm not saying that they don't deserve more prison time. They made a mistake with their life. Everyone makes mistakes. The size of that mistake varies but everyone should be given a chance to go straight again. I'm all for giving them a longer prison time or having them castrated but they at least deserve a chance at life like a normal person. I know of poverty. I'll admit I'm not in poverty but I can see why prison would be better than poverty. That doesn't change the fact that these men don't want to go to prison. Think of a mother sending her child to the corner because the child broke a rule. I could walk to a corner right now and it wouldn't be punishment. The corner has everything that the child would need and the child would only be there for a minute but that doesn't change the fact that the child doesn't want to go. The child being forced to go to the corner infringes his/her freedom on a much smaller scale than prison. On a side note, I would like to say that prison has corrected many men and woman. I actually have a former prison guard for my algebra 2 teacher and he has told us stories of men who have come to prison one way and left completely changed. Once again though, I would like to reiterate that the constitution doesn't allow for cruel and unusual punishment which is why our prisons offer entertainment while still enforcing the prisoners to stay on the premises. Of course, if you don't like the constitution, then you could leave America providing you live here in the first place.
  12. Pretty much what I said in my last post. Same two scenarios. The whole problem really isn't that complicated.
  13. So basically, the solution to this riddle is: 1. The power of the jets is forcing the plane forward and enabling take off. 2. The power of the jets is forcing the overall speed of the plane to match that of the treadmill which causes zero movement. Take off is impossible.
  14. Normal people 'work' to get those luxuries, those guys 'break the law' and get it for free. Not all criminals have friends or family, who knows if some of them get jailed on purpose in wealthier countries :? I'd like to point out that though criminals may not have family and friends that they would like to see, they probably still have plenty of reasons as to why being free is much better than being stuck in a correctional institution for many years. I'm just pointing out that you make prison sound like a utopia of sorts. A place where we should want to go. Which is why I don't understand why you're not there. You seem to love it so much. At deloriagod, I'm sure some people get jailed on purpose but I would assume that the majority who do would only do that if they felt threatened and made the decision that prison would more than likely be safer than their own home. In those scenarios, though, the subject is probably a criminal anyway.
  15. Ok, so in this riddle, is the thrust from the engines forcing the plane forward or is it giving the plane just enough force to stand still?
  16. You could restate it 100 times, but it would still be wrong. The wheels will be spinning twice as fast as they otherwise would, but the plane would still move forward and take off. So the wheels would be moving faster than the speed of the treadmill moving back? If that's the case, then yes, the plane would move forward and eventually take off if it's going fast enough. If the wheels are moving the same speed as the treadmill then there would be no change in position for the plane and the plane would never take off. It's like a person walking on a tread mill. The person is moving forward at the same speed the treadmill is moving back so the person doesn't feel any air hitting his face because he is not changing position. Though, if like you say, the plane is moving faster than the treadmill then it will take off. In either scenario, the answer is obvious.
  17. I was younger when I was in a scandinavian prison for a bit over a month (tax-related). And I can assure you there is no such thing as punishment in the jail, you can do almost anything you could do outside jail. They even had broadband internet access, supervised though, in the library. That was years ago when internet access wasn't even that common in normal families. What the heck is that? Then there's the special cells for people with no hope of turning for the better, and that's a real punishment. It doesn't even have windows. You just sit and sleep inside 4 corners all week and get out for about an hour a day if that. You eat meals in the room. I've only seen that place but I pray I or you wont ever have to go there. And who go there? Maybe 10-50 people a year, like seriously mentally ill mass murderers etc. and people who have escaped from prison multiple times. "Normal" murderers and child abusers don't go there. The only "punishment" I could think of is that most of the time the food is crap. That doesn't constitute as a punishment either, at least you get to eat something for free. Getting to eat only every second day would be a punishment. So you're saying you would be perfectly fine with spending 15 years or even life there? I mean, hell, free food and internet, why don't we all just get ourselves thrown in prison? The reason I would never want to go to prison is because it takes away my freedom. I would never like prison simply because there are more important things to me than video games, free food, and a place to stay. I have friends and family that I would want to see. Oh yes, in prison you have rights to visitation but I don't want to have set hours and time limits for family and friends. It's interesting to listen to you speak about how prison isn't punishment simply because it has a few of the luxuries that we have.
  18. I don't think I've lost any serious materialistic items. I may have lost loose change here or there. I lost my brother to a car accident in December of 2001. That sucked though I wasn't exactly old enough to realize exactly what had happened so I never went through a big shock and grieve phase.

    Worst Fear

Wow. Any more allergies and you may as well go buy a bubble to live in. Just joking but still, that's a lot of allergies. I'm just slightly allergic to small things like pollen and that's about it. The doctor once told me I was allergic to trees. :| That could be problematic.
  20. Though this quote has probably been replied to and the answer has already been stated, I'm going to restate it. The plane would not move even with the jets because the jets propel the plane which would then move on it's wheels which would be matching the speed of the treadmill. In a sense, the plane would be moving forward while the "ground" moves backward at the same speed, thus creating zero change in position.

    Worst Fear

:ohnoes: I'm allergic to wasp and bees and fire ants and most ants and cats and latex and pollen and grass and dust and birches and chocolate. :ohnoes: Wow. Any more allergies and you may as well go buy a bubble to live in. Just joking but still, that's a lot of allergies. I'm just slightly allergic to small things like pollen and that's about it.

    Worst Fear

Wasps. I think I would jump face first out of a plane without a parachute then spend the night in a room with a single wasp. The latter would drive me insane. I can live with bees. I don't mind bees. Wasps can go die though. I hate them with a passion. Anyway, other than wasps, I'm not really scared of anything other than the cliched fear of losing important people.
  23. I didn't even notice this post until now but I completely disagree. I've heard plenty of stories about people who have gone into prison with a life sentence for committing a murder and they actually do begin to feel guilt and actually do realize that they did something wrong. I'm sure that at the time they committed the murder they knew it was wrong but they didn't care. After being locked up in prison for x amount of years, they began to feel remorse and they began to realize that what they did completely ruined their life. Hatred may build in prison but that doesn't mean the people are going to come out worse off or just as bad as they were when they went in. I'm actually willing to bet that most criminals who go into prison for a long enough time come out corrected. I will say that the prison sentences should be longer for sexual, drug related, or theft crimes. Only with a longer sentence do many people become corrected. Lastly, I think capital punishment is wrong in many cases. I don't see why one person can kill 5 people and get life whereas another person can kill 1 person the same way and get death. I think capital punishment should only be enforced on a criminal in which it is believed by 100% of the jury that the criminal will not reform while in prison. An example of this would be a man named Ted Bundy. They gave him death by the electric chair and I fully support that. There are stories of other people who got the death sentence that I do not agree with. I can't name the exact person and I don't really feel like looking them up but I'm sure there are some. I guess I kind of rambled on a bit but I'm done now. I wouldn't exactly consider prison to not be a punishment. I think the fact that most prisoners are stuck with the same people in the same place for years at a time can and probably will effect them mentally. You make prison sound like a near utopia. Three meals a day, Xbox, TV, books? What more could one want? I think I would want freedom. The fact that I have books, TV, an Xbox, and even a computer at home doesn't keep me inside all the time. I would go insane if I were forced to be in the same place for years at a time. You're also making the assumption that life in prison isn't bad just because they have the luxuries of people outside of prison excluding freedom, of course. I think I'll go out on a limb and assume that prison life isn't all you make it out to be. I don't think anyone leaves prison saying, "Wow, what a fun place that was. I'd love to back sometime,". I honestly doubt that prison is a fun place to be. I'm willing to bet that prison is punishment. You could always prove us wrong and commit a little theft, go to prison, and then maybe you could tell us about how wonderful it is. Or, if things there are as I perceive them to be, you would come back talking about how it was hell and about how you never want to go back.
  24. If the plane were on a treadmill that were matching it's speed then the velocity of the plane would be zero. If the velocity of the plane is zero then there is no airflow for the plane to be able to lift off. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  25. I should grow the F* up? Try argueing a point in which u have a slight chance of justifying and without referring to common tongue will u. If a person coldly and cruely attacks another 1 just for thrills, which is exactly what a pedo does if he attacks little girls because they give him excitment, then they do not have the right to be classed as "human" which is species full of civilised people. They lose that right and should never be given the chance to repent, ever. I disagree. I don't think they attacked the girls with the same mentality that a serial killer may have. I believe the criminals in this case did what they did because they are mentally unstable. I don't think they are proud about what they did and I'm almost positive that they feel remorse. I'll go so far as to even say people like the Virginia Tech killer are still humans. Committing an awful crime does not revoke the fact that you're still a human. As indecent and cruel a human one may be, they're still humans. These people committed horrible crimes and do deserve punishment. All criminals deserve punishment for their crime. In this case, the molesters served they're punishment and though they may feel remorse and wish they wouldn't have done what they did, they're still thrown out of prison into a life that's much worse. What's the point of prison if you want to go back just to get out of the hell that society has placed them in because of what they did?
