One thing to remember about resources on RS: There are only so many at one time in a given area, so people compete for them! 'gasp' You mean some people will try to take my rock if all the others in the area are either gone are already taken!?!?! Yes, they will. Get over it, it happens. However, it does REALLY annoy me when someone comes up to a rock you are already mining when there are free ones in the location they can see. I know this happens by accident some times, and you should ask politely that they take a rock that is free. 90% of the time it seems they were just mistaken and will leave you be, maybe even apologize. If they respond negatively but still with in the rules I recommend you put them on your ignore list and switch worlds. If you ask a couple times and they dont respond and seem to just be going for the nearest rock no matter what, report them as a macroer.
  2. \ Whats wrong with browser based? It means I can play RS any time any where, and it uses up so little power I can use it on my laptop with no worries!
  3. Head: Dragon full helm Neck: Amulet of Glory Chest: Dragon Chain Legs:Dragon Plate Legs Feet: Dragon Boots Hands: Dragon Gloves Weapon: Dragon Scimitar Off hand: Dragon Square Shield Cape: Legends Ring: Wealth ... Ok, so I am a bit obsessed with full dragon. Sue me.
  4. You know what? I have a confession to make. As annoying (and really ineffectual) as the random events are, I really missed them in other MMO's. They do a really good job of breaking up the monotony, even if it is just the stupid useless sandwich lady, it lets you take a short break from whatever and just have some fun. Some are cool (like the pinball one) some are stupid (SANDWICH LADY!) and some are... Interesting. Like evil bob. That is a wierd event. Seriously, what was JagEx doing at that time? You know what? I dont wanna know.

The problem with being a P mod is that you are under constant scrutiny, and even something fairly innocent can turn into a big hulaballo because people either dont know how to take a joke or because you really acted inappropriately and left an impression. Such is the life of a SUPER STAR \
  6. I agree with Master Smither. If you cant beat them, join them. Get your defence level up if you find that you lose to people with a good defense level. Get your prayer up if you find you lose to people who have a good prayer level. Or make your own pure if you lose to them, or even better get to such a high combat that you can kick their [wagon] from here to Yanile anyway. Quit whining. If you lost, come back better prepared next time.
  7. I am liking this idea.
  8. Orange. I dont really like RS combat, and gathering is pretty boring. But making stuff... Thats where the action is at! I dont care what it takes, being able to make full rune, your own fury amulet and all the other things is just too cool to pass up.
  9. Fun at the expense at other's misery, that's how their mind works. Whats wrong with a little misery?
  10. The 13 and up requirement it is pointless. I lied about my age to get all kinds of stuff for years, now that I dont it just means im telling the truth.
  11. Not everybody is a member... Well then I suggest you either get members or just pay better attention.
  12. Then how would I kill all those macroers? The ones that wonder around a room then head towards the door? If you close the door, the macroer dies. They often cannot even open the door on their own. So the macro no longer works because all of a sudden its back in lumbridge with no more stuff and no idea how to get to where it belongs. Once I found a macro that wandered in a patter similar to the furnace in Al Karad and said "33" every so often. Highly amusing, I have killed plenty just by closing the door and watching them die.
  13. Another thing to remember about WoW is it has lore out the wazoo and that their are many long convoluted story lines you can unlock in the game. Runescapes lore basicly happened, WoWs lore is on level with some epic novels, and you feel as if you are helping to make it.
  14. Dont refere to my sig for stats, they are all outdated. What level should you be to go face the KBD? I have some decent armor and weapons, so when should I try and take him on solo?
  15. WoW World of Warcraft is the number one MMO on the market hands down right now. Many RS players claim that WoW only has graphics going for it, but that really is an over simplification of WoW. PVE In WoW, Player Vs Environment is much more interesting then it is in WoW, at least in terms of what a player has to do to kill things. All the spells and abilites you aquire through the levels will fill up at least four action bars, maybe more. Depending on your class you have a variety of tactics at your disposal, and you must use them wisely based on the monster you are killing. For example, as a druid I am speced into balance and usually use spells to kill things. However, if I begin to run low on mana melee is a good option since it gives my mana time to regenerate. Other practices such as kiting (preventing the monster from hitting you) offer chances to kill things much more powerful then you are. High end PVE is all about the raiding. Raids can be loads of fun if you are in a good guild and are the only way to obtain the best items in the game now. Raids however eat up HUGE amounts of time, sometimes over 4-6 hours each. This is infact the number one reason I have stopped playing WoW, I could not fit into a serious raiding guild anylonger since I am both a full time student, work, and have a life. RS lets me play for as little as 10 minutes and still be rewarding. Quests in WoW are not exactly the greatest. While some are really engaging, most are simple kill this, kill that, get that, go to them. This really drags toward the end when you must repeat quests many times to get the requisite items to gain access to good rewards from certain factions. PVP PVP in WoW and RS are worlds apart, and WoW pvp is far superior. Rather then gambling your fortune, you simply gamble some time. In battle grounds you get rewards no matter what, and in world PVP you can have fun battling other players. This can turn nasty with corpse camping and other unsportsmanlike practices. WoW pvp is varied and complex, from CTF games to resource control, to massive wars between players and duels between elite teams, WoW PvP is fun and engaging. Clan Support In WoW, the clan support is world apart from RS. Rather then try to kill ever addon that comes along, you instead are given ways to MAKE your own addons and macros. WoW also features a guild chat that is much easier, a simple way of identifying guild members (huge sign over their heads) and talbards to show off your unique colors. Economy The WoW economy is fairly stable, since inflation is a non issue because of the massive amounts of cash you spend on matenace and on getting new items. This ensures that most items are not horribly over priced, excpeting so called "twink" gear bought by high level players for PVP low level alts. An example of this is the comparison of the staff of jordan with the bringer of death. Jordan is level 40, Death is level 70. Jordan is purple, Death is blue. Jordan sells for upwards of 1000 gold, Death sells for about the same. Skills This is pathetic in WoW. You can go from 0 to max level in about 2 hours if you have a decent amount of cash. Skills are also not that important once you become very high leveled, with the exception of very costly recipes you will spend hours grinding to make. Bottom Line If you live for PVP or love spending long hours killing very hard enemies, WoW is obviously superior. If skills are what you are after or simply dont like spending hours with a guild, RS is for you. Both are matter of preference as both are excellent games.
  16. This thread is to showcase why you think RS is superior/inferior to other MMO's out there. Please do not attack a game you have not at least tried, as they say don't knock it if you haven't tried it. This is also a good place to see what else is on the market. While this may be a little skewed toward other MMO's, I will do my best to accruals represent the ones I have played, which are: Runescape, played for about 18 months cumulatively. Maple Story played for about 6 months total. World of Warcraft Played for 1 year. Tibia Played for 3 months. First off, MS. MS is what you call a Korean Grinder. This is because it is highly repetitive and requires long hours of grinding, a type of game play popular in Korea with many games with this style coming from there. You go kill some monsters, and then to make it more fun you go and kill more monsters. They drop various quest items you get to get EXP in combat, and money which you use for better gear/bling. MS is F2P, but if you want to get some nice benefits you have to fork over cash. There are exactly 0 skills in MS. The whole point is to go kill stuff so you can go kill bigger stuff. It has classes, which is nice, and they all have unique spells and abilities that can make game play more interesting. PVP is only in certain places just like in RS. Death has harsh penalties though, including loss of valuable EXP. At higher levels, a single death can remove days of training. The world is fairly large, and graphics are easy on the eyes and kind of fun to look at, if a bit cutesy. It is side scrolling though, so some platforming is involved. VS RS MS is definitely not as varied as RS. The quests are not that unique, and there are no skills at all. That said, I think combat is far superior since it involves less random clicking and more tactics deciding what spells you will use and managing your mana bar. It is also far more repetitive then RS, but some people like that kind of play. The death penalties I am out on, its good to make death negative, but it seems a tad extreme. I absolutely hate the platforming, it frustrated me to no end. The Verdict: I like RS waaaaaaay better then MS. I the first few levels went by like a breeze, and after that the grinding was way, way to harsh. I continued to play for a long time after I stopped having fun, something I really regret.
  17. Norune, do yourself a favor. Find a new game to play, because you obviously arnt having any fun with this one. I have played more then a few MMO's in my time, and the reason I like runescape is that I think it is more fun then most. The higher levels show you put in your time due to an arduous level curve (WoW on the other hand has a pathetic level curve they plan on making easier) but you can also get decent rewards at lower levels. The runescape economy is doing fairly well right now (I think JagEx needs to find a sure fire way to get money out of the economy constantly, but its not too bad right now) better then some mmos, worse then others. The skills in RS are very varied with all kinds of things to do. This is more then you can say for some MMO's, though others are just as good as RS, maybe better. Most importantly for me though is the fact that quests are not just "go kill this, go get that, make this for me" quests that so many MMO's have. While many quests do involve these elements, there is also quite a bit of lateral thinking and puzzle solving. But thank God, no platforming. I hate platforming. I will forever hate gutsmans level in Megaman, but thats beside the point. Quests have flavor, and really descent (but not over powered) rewards. I think your attack on the player community is silly. In the real world, most people would be happy to make a fast buck off you, but if you look you will find good honest people who would try and help you out. If you asked me for help (I dont mean you ask for stuff, sometimes I do hand out less valuable gear like steel and iron picks I get of HAM and mith axes I can make to people who need them, or if someone asks a question I usually answer it if I can. I can be a jerk sometimes like everyone else, but I try to be a nice person) I would be happy to give it to you with in reason. If you want good people, as in any game find yourself a good community, for me that was GUILDS. Runescape also has a steady stream of new content, something you cannot say for many MMO's which have new content only once in a blue moon. But Runescape does lack in many areas. Combat is a joke. All it is is your levels and gear, plus how you eat. Thats it. Little to no skill involved. DnD combat is more interesting, since you actually have spells and abilities. PvP is stupid as far as I am concerned. Combat mini games can be fun, but its still random numbers that are far to gear dependent. The way money works like you said can screw up the game, but really real life works this way as well so I dont see how JagEx can change human nature. As with anything if you look at it to hard the flaws get to many to see the good, so I really only named my biggest two pet peeves. Its easy to find more if you try. So relax no rune, and dont mock people who play this game. If you would have more fun playing Vangaurd, WAR (when it finally comes out), WoW, or something else quite RS. But dont mock those who enjoy it. Let us have our fun, and we shall let you have yours.
  18. Greed, and a feeling that the world owes them something. Which is to say, the human condition.
  19. Actually, JagEx can do whatever the hell they want, its their game. Maybe your suggesting they shouldn't, but the EULA (End User License Agreement) you signed to play the game says that they can if they feel like it. See, if you read the EULA you find out your just renting the account per see. JagEx actually owns your account and everything in it, so they can tell you your not allowed to sell it to somebody else, just like you cant sell a car with a lease on it without the bank's/dealers permission. The reason for this is simple. In the real world, if you give/sell someone something there are no take backs. It would be theft to take a gold farmers account if they owned it, but JagEx owns it and has dictated the terms under which they may use it. But if you rent it to them (which is what JagEx is doing), you can take it back whenever the conditions of the license are violated. If they conditions are not violated you cannot take it back, but as soon as they are you can legally take it.
  20. Ok, thank you very much for sharing your insiders opinion.
  21. Yup. Believe it or not .. i do post from time to time .. lol. Considering you are among (or actually are, I dont really keep track of these things) the premier F2P players, whats your opinion on this? I have made mine known, but I would like to hear from someone who has so many of their skills in the 99's and is not a member. You said it would require game changes, but assuming it would not what would you say?
  22. Finally, someone who realizes that safing is just that, playing it say. Why gamble dangerously with a couple mill? Eat at as soon as you can get full effect I say. And far casting is rediculous. I want as much space between you and your whip as possible when Im in pathetic mage robes. You close, and you win.
  23. Yes, JagEx wants our money. And, according to the rules of capitalism, their own selfish motivation will drive them to create a desirable quality product that will make players happy and therefore generate more revenue. So in a twisted sort of way, JagEx by the simple fact that they are a successful company MUST empathize with their players and do their best to make a really awesome game that gives people what they want. As for F2P, all it is is a brilliant marketing scheme. They know they more you play, the more likely you are to get members. They also know that theirs is not exactly the brightest star in the constellation, so they give you F2P to draw you in since it is after all, free. But being the biz whizzes they are, they but adds in F2P that they are payed really, really good money for. If JagEx wanted, they could keep all the servers up and provide basically the same level of quality for everyone just on ad money. P2P would not exist at all, it would be a completely free MMO driven by advertising. But, JagEx wants to line their pockets with a bit more cash so they charge for access to about 90% of the game. I applaud them for it, I think they are very wise to do this. I would doubt their sanity if they did not, they have a golden opportunity to make a lot of cash and they are seizing it. They are playing both ends of the field: they have a pretty good free MMO that draws in lots and lots of ad revenue. And they have a monthly fee MMO that draws in even more revenue. The best of both worlds.
  24. Should F2P get skill capes? I dunno, should JagEx start handing out more freebies to people who have used their game for a long time and are not likely to give them money so they can continue to provide free content and a game that continues to improve so they can attract new customers and keep old ones? Only if they have no business sense at all. The reason F2P should not get skill capes is simple: JagEx wants your money, and your not going to give it to them if they give F2P new content. Simple as that.
  25. The exp skill totals sounds good. The f2p... No, thats kinda pointless. JagEx wants to you pay, so they are not going to do it.
