1. I have never been tempted to cheat. A game is meant for fun, when it looses its purpose, I just quit for awhile.
2. I am pretty sure Jagex uses a png image with low opacity for the background image. Otherwise we would have a transparency option.
3. I like my women like I like Jerry Springer episodes, they are always more wild at night after 11PM. Star Trek.
4. Just by reading this thread its quite obvious that bots are a larger problem than some people think. Yes Jagex could improve their systems, but they would have to nut up and take a profit loss. Andrew needs to do something soon. I would rather lose 300,000 a month then to lose the purpose of the game I spent 10 years creating and updating. Besides, if there are less bots to lower prices, more legit players may turn from f2p to p2p to make that extra few million gp a little quicker. Jagex needs to sort their priorities. When SD is released, they better have their butts in line and start the game right otherwise the same thing will happen and the game will become a botfest.
5. Move the obsfuscated game's logic to native files and use the Java applet and canvas for only rendering graphics and preloading the game. (Refection bots)Another option is to create duplicate game methods, where both do the same thing in game, except one will flag the account if reflected upon.
6. Upgraded my computer about two weeks ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LI03JuX9_Y Some of the parts: Coolermaster 932 HAF Case EVGA X58 FTW3 Motherboard 6GB DDR 1600MHz memory Intel i7 960 @ 3.6 Ghz 9800 GTX (Upgrading soon) Coolermaster Hyper n 520 cpu heatsink and fan Asus DVD drive and Burner 900 watt power supply Logitech G13 Gamepad, G15 v2 Keyboad, G500 mouse Eventually upgrading to dual 500 or 400 series Nvidia graphics cards for up to quad monitors. Thought about two 5870s and running up to 6, but that's too much.

Today...

After seeing a Fox news report on people begging and making $50.00 an hour, I feel like quitting my job and free loading now.
8. Its fun if the person sending the scam email is an amateur. You can always ping his host, get the ip, search for the IP, and even perform a whois and get their name and address. Then call them through skype saying you are a international cyber cirme agent for the ICCD and you are sending in a few agents to grab him after he was reported for scamming RS accounts. The kid will crap bricks. I have one email which contains legit wow and runescape emails and I always have a spare which I use for sites and forums. I have never been email hacked or phished.

Congrats man! The same thing for me would be like Bill Gates calling me up and flying me out to Microsoft (before he resigned) and treating me to lunch and a tour of Micro$oft facilities, then flying me home in time in time to sign for my Macbook Pro. Bought a deep fryer last night and fried up a ton of catfish. Turned out amazing.
10. Very nice.... Beiber.it forums <3 Runescape needs the beiber godsword.
11. Thanks! The mods have been doing an amazing job thus far and I look forward to the changes ahead. I want the forum's community attitude and maturity to return back to the level it was when I first joined in 2006. Wow just realized its been nearly 5 years since I've started using tip.it forums!
12. This was a interesting read. I would've asked more questions such as "How much real life money have you made using macros?" or "How many accounts do you macro at a time?", or even "Could you provide a screenshot of your gold selling payouts?". Due to the nature of the article, there is no way to provide sources for some of the information on this forum site. Not all bots are created using Java, although a good portion are. There are still a few C++ based paid bots out there. Most of the free bots use Java. I did some research of my own awhile back. A commonly known free site contains about 300+ paid scripts, which range anywhere from 1.99 - 19.99. It looks as if roughly 100,000 scripts have been purchased in the past few years. A lot of hardcore botters run 3-15 macros at a time though a VPS or their personal computers, or even a combination of the two. One person stated he made more money selling gold in Runescape as his brother did working 35 hours+ a week at McDonald's making a little about 7.25 an hour. The only difference is he didn't do hardly anything but check his bots through an iPhone, which was supported by his gold buyers.
13. I've played runescape using remote access technology, and let me tell you, it sucks. Responsiveness decreases quite a bit, and Jagex already has a problem with responsivness(ever notice there is a slight delay between click and animation...this isn't caused only by client-server communication lag, but also because of the nature of how jagex programs their game (using the "tick" system)... I think a lot of people would quit if they implemented this, as I don't think the game would be very enjoyable. Honestly, I don't think bots are that huge of problem...What skills are overly botted in p2p in a way that effects they players? Pure ess mining is terrible, but most people just [bleep] with it because it's obvious that these are bots performing these tasks. Hunter is getting bad, and it being a competative skill, it does piss off legitimate players. Yew/Magic cuting is bad. What else? Either way, my solution is Jagex should focus on these skills. Banning bots that compete with legitimate players would 1. End these annoying threads. 2. Make more people happy. It would also send an underlying message to botters: Go ahead and bot, but don't bot something that pisses off our paying customers, because we will find you, and we will ban you. My cents I agree the responsiveness will decrease, but it is not comparable to remote desktoping to another computer that runs the game. I think that it is possible to get it to a level it would be enjoyable to play. This is also something that can be rolled out in stages. In the early stages it would be optional and they could be temporarily enforce it upon alleged bot users. For runescape it would be much easier to accomplish I wouldn't play if my client was hosted on a cloud server. I think this is one of the better ideas on this thread: Jagex should spend its resources trying to find a way to end, or at least control the click an wait grind fest.

Get it. It won't take too long to get used to, so don't let the fact that it is manual hold you back. I think I can handle it pretty well, I just don't want to jerk it starting off from being parked the first times.

Looking into buying 2008 Ford Focus. It has 27,000 miles and its only $8,500. The owner died so the people are wanting to sell it to cover costs. It is midnight blue and looks sexy. The only thing is I need to learn how to drive a manual car. I've always driven automatics. I know the basics, but I want to learn in my cousins car before I get my own manual car.
16. Rewrite the client in C/C++ and only use the Java portion to draw onto the AWT Canvas. This wouldn't require you to download an exe and it could improve performance. Bot makers could basically inject into the DLL's and read basic client information, but Jagex could create detection algorithms to help deter the hackers. The logic is already on the server anyways, so no need for cloud-based clients. Another option is to perform time-based client ID encryption. Jagex could write an algorithm to encrypt the item and object ID's based on the current time or any other factor, then every time the player reaches a "Loading... please wait" screen, the server will send a set of new ID's with a different encryption algorithm. For example, lets say a bot was killing green dragons. The first time the bot goes to the green dragon location and uses the ID "4456", it will be linked to a green dragon. The next time, the same ID could be an NPC in Canfis.
17. While you live under her house, you technically should follow what she says. I would try and work out a compromise. I am not saying that you shouldn't play games or play on the computer, but show your mom that there is a vast database of information available on the internet which you can't always access in book form. Respect your mother's opinions until you have your own place. It will make life a whole lot easier. You are at that crucial point in life where you can make or break your future, being responsible and learning how to manage your money now will put you ahead of a lot of other's your age.
18. What service provider are you going with? Keep in mind, some service providers provide cheaper plans and equipment, but lack the coverage and service compared to other companies. I would rather pay 50-70 a month and have services then pay 30-50 dollars a month for dropped calls and static.
19. Its been two months since I've touched wow. A lady I work with plays on the same server I did (Mok'Nathal). So I may start again and play with her.

Today I ordered the HTC Thunderbolt. Got a good employee discount on it. Got everything set for college for the next four years to finish my B.A. in Computer Science. I plan on joining an indie game developer group soon as well. Tomorrow my RMA Motherboard replacement will come in. It arrived with 4 bent cpu pins. 350 dollar paperweight :/. Does anyone know if you are supposed to keep accessories if they come with RMA replacement?

Today...

Today I spent most of the day at home coding and watching dev blog videos of Gyrovorbis on youtube. I started working on my item system for my game. Here are three possible ways of loading items I could do: Way 1: Standard text #file format: #name #id item number a attributes ->consumable = 1/0, sellable = 1/0, canHaveOnce = 1/0 #description #x #y #spacer Magical Mushroom 0045a101 #unsellable consumable mushroom you can only have one at a time A mushroom which gives you super abilities 34 4 [lua] player:modSpeed(5) --increase player movement speed screen:blurScreen(5000) --blur the screen for 5 seconds screen:softWoble() --softly wobble the screen at a slow rate chatBox:popMsg("You feel strange after eating the mushroom") player:takeDOT(5,3500,random(5,10)) -- apply 5 damage ever 4.5 secs 5-10 times(random amount) [/lua] My engine would loop through the file parsing its contents line by line and execute anything between the lua tags. Way 2: XML <Items>
</Items> Simple to implement and easy to export/import for map/item editor. Way 3:Pure Lua function create(Item) Item:setName("Magic Mushroom") Item:setID("0045a101") Item:setDesc("Item desc") Item:setXPos(4) Item:setYPos(5) end function function onUse() player:modSpeed(5) --increase player movement speed screen:blurScreen(5000) --blur the screen for 5 seconds screen:softWoble() --softly wobble the screen at a slow rate chatBox:popMsg("You feel strange after eating the mushroom") player:takeDOT(5,3500,random(5,10)) -- apply 5 damage ever 4.5 secs 5-10 times(random amount) end function I will probably end up using XML so I can export from a future item/map editor and easily perform IO operations without too much hassle. Also it would look cleaner IMHO. I could easily whip up lua chunks for multiple items in the same file instead of using something like mushroom.lua, item.lua, etc. My game engine is going good so far. I output random game data to a console right now. For example, when i trigger a player move event. The console will output something like: Player Info >> [Move Dir=S] [AnimationUpdate=true] [canMoveDir= true] [cWorldX=5] [cScreenX=160] [cWorldY=12] [cScreenY=384] [nWorldX=5] [nScreenX=160] [nWorldY=13] [nScreenY=416] [playerCollideWithAnything=false] [tileTriggerAction=false] [tileContainsItem=0012a111] Player Debug >> Moving player from Y Tile 12 to Y Tile 13.. Player Debug >> Player at Y Tile 13 KeyInput Debug >> Key: e Action Examine: Item currentItemOnTile: Xbox360 ChatBox Debug >> Message from item 0012a111: "I am a xbox 360 %newline%I red-ring%newline%I am somehow consumable." "Press any key to continue or wait to activate xbox360" ItemManager Debug >> 0012a111 action: explode Screen Debug >> Performing glow :: performing blur :: performing shake:: Player Debug >> 0012a111 has destroyed player. I mainly want to get the script , entity, npc, player, math, and physics in the engine before I worry about networking, graphics and audio. While I am working on those parts of the game, I can have my buddy design and script npc dialogs and quests and instanced boss fights. Not many people here probably care, nor understand what I am doing, but once I get graphics and audio with this, it will be awesome.
22. Going to see an a7x and three days grace concert early May.
