11th May 2009 - Offence System maintenance - UPDATED
Nero replied to ford_landau's topic in General Discussion
Oh boy! They may actually read offense appeals now! Ahhh who am I kidding... -.- -
Yeah, god is pretty badass when you think about it. BUT NOT AS BADASS AS KRATOS!!!!!!11111111!

Wtf was the point in that story?
-
Well, going by your logic it's not actually Israeli land...it's actually, er...Iraq's, or the Ottoman's, or the Italian's, or the Macedonian's, or the Egyptians, or we can go way back and call everywhere nomad land. No! [bleep] that! This is dinosaur land! Or we can just agree that the land belongs to whoever has it in their possession coupled with the strength to keep it. This whole "I was here first, so it's mine!" is kind of stupid, because that land was someone else's before theirs and someone else before theirs, and so on... /endtrollresponse

Goddamnit I sure hope so. Duke 3D was one of the first games I played as a kid, around the time I was 7. I wanted to die with Duke (or at least play DNF before I died). I've been looking forward to this game for so long, it just can't end like this. And now, after I've seen the footage, it hurts even more inside. I just hope that one of these conspiracy theories are correct, or we've just lost what could've been one of the greatest games in history. George Broussard can't be stupid/foolish enough to let the company go under like this, or at least, I would hope he wasn't. Eh, we shall see. Oh and your avatar reminded me of this pic: [hide=][/hide]

[hide=From Reddit...]Anyone who knows me on this site knows I'm one of the most unconspiratorial Redditors left on the site. None the less, check this out: http://whois.domaintools.com/savedukenukem.com The domain was registered on 5/7/09, the very same day that 3DRealms announced it was closing. Furthermore, if I recall, that news did not break to the internet at large until very late in the day - sometime in the evening. I haven't registered many domains in my time, but in my experience, it takes at least a few hours to process, up to around 24 hours. And look at the flow of "leaked" videos and pictures that have been absolutely STREAMING out of 3DRealms in the last four days. There's been more Duke Nukem activity since Duke died than in the last several years of development. And the forums have been filled with people looking at said material and lamenting Duke's doom. Apparently, we're supposed to believe that 3DRealms has been sitting on all this kickass footage that could have been used to generate HUGE amounts of buzz... and yet did absolutely nothing with it, even as their company was falling apart from beneath them, just a few months after announcing (again) that DNF was about to be released. Now, this guy (note it's the same e-mail addy) is really small potatoes, at least based on his site, which is the only real flaw in this theory. You'd think 3DRealms would hire someone bigger, unless they were desperate. But everything else fits like a damn glove. Never the less, you tell me, which scenario sounds more likely: A)3DRealms is staffed by a bunch of idiots who neglected to make use of all kinds of PR material lying around and instead let their company crumble, and in the meantime, this Jeff Shenk guy is SO goddamn smart that the very instant he heard the first rumor that 3DRealms was closing, he went off and registered SaveDukeNukem.com just in case. And put up a "stay tuned..." message just for the hell of it... Or B)This was all a gigantic P.R. stunt to manipulate the players and the fans with a fake "closure," release tons of footage to restore goodwill, and then to create a fake grassroots "Save Duke!" campaign... all organized by the ad men with the goal of [bleep]ing with the heads of you and me. I think it seems pretty obvious which one is more likely. Edit: OH LOOKEE HERE. Saveduke.com registered by an anonymous proxy the DAY BEFORE 3DRealms' closure was announced. There's nothing at the site yet, but come on... There is absolutely no good explanation for this that doesn't involve asshattery. Not unless someone can think of some other Duke who also needed to be saved starting a few days ago.[/hide] Thoughts?

Yep. In the long run this'll screw over the US.
-
Please. I'm getting extremely tired of flying through people when I knife them.

Price actually saves you at the end (kinda) when he throws you that pistol before he "dies".
-
Sub!...way 6/10 Just seems kinda generic. Big bad mr. fighter over here :ohnoes:
-
Alright then fancy pants, you get a 0/10 just for that.
-
.... Ok... Then, the actual answer to that is: Use your magic teleporter device so you can just teleport them out of the middle of the sea. You can't just start changing the entire question to get an answer. You said 'your helicopter can only hold 2 people', therefore we assume that 2 is the max capacity. Not 3 after we remove the gear neccesarry for actually saving the people. That's one [developmentally delayed]ed riddle if that really is the answer. [/ramble]

Being a Geek is now "cool" in today's pop culture...
Nero replied to Latinoking's topic in Off-Topic
You've described the common constituents found in almost any typical television show minus the outer space theme. In fact, even Ben Ten fits under that. :| Go into high school with a Star Wars shirt. Your definition of what is socially accepted will change tremendously. You seem to be confusing accepted with embraced. Besides, I'm done with high school. I wouldn't go back there for anything, least of all just to wear a t-shirt :P -

What on earth is cool about Star Wars? To the geeks it's cool. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word 'cool'; accepted would've been a better choice. -

Why the hell do you care about weaboos? To stay OT, though, geeks and nerds are totally different things. Geeks are somewhat cool, because there is a whole sub-culture of geekiness that's growing (think Star Wars, BSG, etc, etc). Nerds are an entirely different species. Nerds will never be cool, becuase there is nothing cool about being a nerd. -
I'd call that a lucky call, he was very lucky that the man didn't send in a few men to be sure. I would assume that luck factors into every one of these stories. Audie Murphy? Damn he was lucky that burning M10 didn't explode with him in it. I'm sure the finnish sniper also got a few lucky shots off that saved his life, or any of the other people mentioned here had luck involved in that they didn't take a bullet before they started showing off how badass they were. No Luck as a rule is pretty stupid. [hide=Another thing on Chuko (also known as Zhuge for some reason)]Before the Battle of Red Cliffs, Zhuge Liang went to visit the Wu camp to assist Wu strategist Zhou Yu. Zhou Yu saw Zhuge Liang as a threat to Eastern Wu and was also jealous of Zhuge Liang's talent. Therefore, he assigned Zhuge Liang the task to make 100,000 arrows in ten days or face execution. Zhuge Liang, however, swore he would finish this seemingly impossible task in three days. He requested 20 large boats, each manned with many straw men and a few soldiers. Before dawn, Zhuge Liang ordered his soldiers to beat war drums and shout orders, to imitate the noise of an attack. Zhuge Liang sat with Lu Su inside one of the boats drinking wine. The Wei soldiers, unable to see in the fog, fired many volleys of arrows at the sound of the drums. The straw men were soon filled with arrows, and Zhuge Liang returned to Wu having fulfilled his promise. Hence, the Chinese expression "????" ("Straw boat borrows arrows") refers to the act of using someone's strength against him or her.[/hide]

[hide=Chuko]Chuko "Sleeping Dragon" Liang was a brilliant Chinese strategist and possessor of one of the top 10 awesomest nicknames in history. A chancellor of Shu Han during the third century, his cunning is widely so celebrated that in China his name is synonymous with intelligence and tactics, which is way better than General Tso, who only wound up with a Chinese restaurant dish named after him. Chuko was a master of the mind[bleep]. But he was still capable of making mistakes and it was his greatest miscalculation that required him to draw upon his greatest of mind[bleep] powers. According to historians, during the War of the Three Kingdoms, accompanied by a consort of just 100 soldiers and the rest of his army miles away, Chuko saw an opposing army with over 100,000 men marching towards him. The opposing general, Sima Yi, was a veteran who had fought Chuko in multiple battles. Familiar with the Sleeping Dragon's clever ways and, deciding to take no chances, he led the massive army to capture Chuko. Ordering his few men into hiding, Chuko commanded that the town gates be left wide open and, positioning himself atop the city wall, he proceeded to play the lute as the massive enemy army approached. Upon his arrival at the town gates, Sima Yi, who had fallen victim to many a Chuko-led ambush, halted his army and studied Chuko's calm manner as he ripped a solo on the chords. Convinced it was a trap he could not yet comprehend, Sima commanded a hasty retreat, more than a 100,000 soldiers pulling back from one man and his musical instrument. Chuko thus earned an entire wing in the [cabbage]ter's Hall of Fame.[/hide]

Few things could help that: 1. Update your graphics card drivers. 2. Install the latest version of Direct x: http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx 3. Start Mount & Blade, when the initial screen pops up, hit configure and set the render method to Direct X 7 (or Direct x 9 if you're already on 7). If those don't work let me know. 1257 Edition Sword of Damocles Hundred Years War Eagle and the Radiant Cross Also, if you wan't to try out mods for older versions of Mount & Blade, you can download the older versions here (since some of the mods haven't been ported over to 1.011).
