  1. I think MCR is becoming like rap, people just love to hate them.
  2. Edit: Nevermind, Jard beat me to it.
  3. Use another image hosting site like TinyPic. After you upload it, use the one that's under "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards:". Just copy and paste it here.
  4. Yes, you can install Java on Linux. I think I still remember how to do it: Open a terminal, type in: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk Hit enter and then you should be done. If that doesn't work, here's a Google search of "install Java in Linux".
  5. Your parents were exceptional, we both know that isn't what happens in most cases. :P I also agree that it should probably be done by salary, to make it more fair and directly address the actual point which is helping people that come from poor backgrounds.
  6. The damage is irreparable because black people weren't really given the means to get as good an education as the the white people. This put black people behind white people when it came to education (as if slavery hadn't already done that enough). This also put black people behind white people when it came to finances (again, as if slavery hadn't done that enough) because they could obtain better jobs easier since they have a better education. If you're inefficiently schooled, the damage done is irreparable. You can't go back in time, once it's done, it's done. You can't all of a sudden try to teach people things that they should have learned years ago, it doesn't even make sense. The scholarships aren't to integrate people, they're to try to level the uneven filed that black people were placed on due to things in the past. All that being said, I do understand how this can be interpreted as being racist.
  7. You don't know why the ruling was made, obviously. The ruling was made because it was proven that segregation caused irreparable damage to the black students, because their facilities, etc. weren't as good as the whites. The key thing here is irreparable damage. This means that the generations before were also done irreparable damage. This was essentially a fault of the government for allowing segregation in the first place. While giving away scholarships to black people won't undo the damage done (nothing could do that), it does help. The point still stands that black people in America are still effected by what happened then. The government and other people know this and they make attempts at compensation by offering extra benefits to black people.
  8. I'd like you to actually say it, since you know. Shouldn't be difficult.
  9. Do you know what the ruling was and why it was made?
  10. If you think it's racist, then maybe you should have payed a little more attention in history class. Have you ever heard of the Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas case?
  11. There are thousands of scholarships. There's a scholarships for people that are left handed. Do you have to work for that? No. Why don't you complain about that too? Who gives a crap if they want to give the money to black people? It's their money and they can do with it what they damn well please. It's none of your business who they give it to. Just apply for other scholarships and stfu about it, seriously. When you get money, if you only want to give it to a certain group of people, then you do that. You can't tell them what to do with their money. By the way, you have to do more than just be black to get the schloarships, I'm sure. They're probably for African Americans that meet certain academic standards, so they do have to work for it just like everyone else.
  12. Well this really should be in the Tech & Computers section (don't worry, someone should move it). If you're going to college, just get a laptop. You can take it to class, etc. and it'll be a lot more convenient and useful than a huge desktop. I believe that the laptop has a slightly better processor and a better video card. However, the hard drive in the desktop is twice as big as the one in the laptop. I would still get the laptop though. I only know like 2 people that actually brought entire desktops to college with them...kinda weird. I suppose you could get the desktop though, since you're still in high school now. You won't really need to take it anywhere with you.
  13. Well, one good free one that I know of is here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html It works for me sometimes, not all the time. I have another that's a little better but it wasn't free. You can also do a Google search for one.
  14. Never heard of him until now, never heard any of his music but this is still sad. Why didn't he just give up the freaking car? It's not worth it, he can probably buy another one. Even if he can't, so what.
  15. And what exactly would that prove (Other than the fact that you're an idiot and an ignoramus.)? And I wholeheartedly refuse to respond to the rest of your completely imbecillic post. It isn't worth the keystrokes.
  16. All of my friends called me by my last name instead of my first. I don't know why though, but it never really bothered me.
  17. Yea it will. Just do a Google search for "Install Ubuntu from flash drive".
  18. You need to burn it to a CD, put it in your computer, then computer restart your computer.
  19. Either Ubuntu or Kubuntu, I think that Kubuntu is better. It comes with a few more helpful things.
  20. Well, what are your system specs (RAM, processor, etc.)? How fast is your internet connection? Have you tried using another browser (Safari or Firefox)?
  21. Why not just try downloading the latest version of JDK then? I didn't find anything about a version 2.0.5 either but the newest version is JDK 6 Update 3. Version 2 must be very old. :?
  22. If it's saying that it's not detected then maybe he doesn't have it on his computer? Have you tried just downloading the JDK?
