I don't really have any interesting classes this term. But the one I probably look forward to the most is my LAN B class. Not because it's interesting, but because each lesson is 4 or 3.5 hours long, and the amount of work we have to do each time doesn't even take half the time. So we naturally do whatever needs to be done as fast as we can, and then surf the web/go get some soda/generally screw around the rest of the time. However, it's safe to say that I would probably go crazy if some of my friends didn't share that class with me. Next term I have psychology though - I'm looking forward to that one.

So I finally got the Dimebucker pickup, three days ago. Set me back 150eur. But when I tried it out for the first time after getting home, I was a bit disappointed. I'd expected it to just blow me away. I only noticed a somewhat more punch in the tone, but not anything extraordinary -- like you would expect from a pickup with that pricetag. It basically sounded like my old Ibanez humbucker pickup that came with the guitar. I mean, the treble wasn't any different... doing pinched harmonics wasn't any easier, and the harmonics sure didn't sound any different. I was expecting to be able to squeel the paint off my walls with this badboy. It's a Dimebag pickup after all. But I figured it was probably my amp that was holding the pickup back. However, I had a talk with a friend of mine earlier, and I told him about my experience with the pickup, and what kind of amp I use (Line 6 Spider II 30W), and he said the amp isn't what's holding the pickup back, but that I probably just have to "figure out the proper tones". At the time, I didn't feel like making him explain how I'd go about doing that, as that would probably had made me even more clueless. So, instead, I'm gonna ask you guys: was I just ripped of 150eur? Or do I have to, as my friend said, "figure out the tones", and if so, how do I do that? The guitar I play on is an Ibanez SZ320, if that helps anything. Any help is much appreciated.

Welcome back, Amoeba.

Probably the only indie band I can really stand. I got their Hot Fuss, good stuff. Definitely looking forward to their new release.

If you have 512mb RAM, be prepared to wait over a minute for everything to load each time you log in. And 256? Wow. I'm surprised it even lets you log with that. 1024+mb is ideal, and strongly adviced. Playing AV when you're "lagging" 80% of the time is really no fun, believe me. -
When I read this thread, I LOL'd.

Saying he sucks is a bit harsh, don't you think? Listen to Brighton Rock. In my opinion he's generally a pretty underrated guitarist. He has some amazing solos, and he's very innovative (at least for his time); experimenting and exploring a lot with different sorts of sounds. Lest not forget the fact that his (homebuilt) Red Special guitar has a godly tone. I love it.

Oh how could I forget Mark Knopfler. Utterly brilliant.

It varies from day to day. Some days I can play 3-4 hours (usually not uninterruptedly; I usually play maybe one hour, then put the guitar away only to pick it up a few hours later and play another two hours etc.), and some days only half an hour to one hour. Depends how "good" I'm playing that day (some days are good guitar days, while other days my playing is simply terrible). I try to pick it up at least once a day though.

I've got Break The Cycle, and even though I haven't listened to it for years it's still a great album in my opinion. ... I should listen to it sometime.

One of the most overrated guitarists ever, in my opinion. James' solos are better, he's got very sloppy chops... and christ, someone remove that wah-pedal from his pedalboard. He's a good guitarist, but FAR from the best. But then again, looking at my list, I would only claim one or two of those to be among the "best ever". I just posted a few of my favourites.

Umm Scott Gorham Zakk Wylde Alexi Laiho Joe Satriani Brian May (gotta love his sound) Ritchie Blackmore K.K Downing Glenn Tipton Gary Moore Brian Robertson

On schooldays I sleep about 4-6 hours, and on weekends it varies between 8-12 hours.

Yep you're correct, it's Norweigan, and since it is fairly close to Swedish I'll give it a shot: Hunters of Existence (?) You are a tired predator On the road, limping Torn up (?) From the journey Camouflaged as human Marked (?) by drudgery A hunter of existence, warpainted (?) By your invisible mission Did my best. There were a few words that I couldn't find translation for... so I googled them and tried to figure out what they meant by reading texts they were used in. I hope it's not completely off. :P

The English teacher I had last year, amongst other things, once randomly grabbed a broom and started playing the solo to Deep Purples's "Lazy". The entire solo. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Best teacher I've ever had. And a Swedish teacher we had in 9th grade, I'm almost positive he took some sort of drug before every lesson - or he could just have been an extremely hyperactive guy. Some lessons he wouldn't teach at all, just tell stories from the time he used to work in a mental asylum (...), or when he at age 16 left home and just sailed around for two years. Although I doubt any of those were actually 100% true, it was entertaining nonetheless. :P He was an incredibly knowledgable person, though. Also one of my top teachers.

A year ago a truck (18-wheeler) almost heaved me and my dad off the motorway, driving 110km/h. We ended up with a broken side-mirror and some nasty scratches on the doors.

I used to do (rifle-)shooting. I did it for around 7 years. I actually won a bunch of competitions, and if I didn't win one I always came in 2nd-4th place. But I stopped pretty much after I had gotten my three-star gold medal - to get one you have to shoot full score on 10 targets; and there are 5 smaller targets on every target. So, in other words, you have to shoot 50 shots and not miss a single one of them.
