  1. I got: - A home cinema system (1.5 -- can play DVD/MP3/WAV/CD/Radio etc. on it) I love it to bits! - Clothes. - Leather gloves, they look sweet. - Dream Theater - Octavarium. Very, very good cd. Still haven't recieved my other sister's present. It was a good christmas. :)
  2. Hehe, what do you know, my sis just happened to own a gripmaster. So I'm using it right now. Insane, thanks for writing all that. Will surely be useful! And yeah, the blues scale would be good, how come I didn't think of that?
  3. Riz: yeah, that makes sense. I'll mess around on the 12+ frets a bit. As for the gripmaster thing, that actually looks pretty cool and it seems to work. :P Not sure if they sell it anywhere in Sweden though. I'll look around. Assassin: I tend to drum a lot with my fingers, but usually with the index and long fingers. Perhaps I could begin doing it but with the little and ring fingers. Thanks for the advice.
  4. Well, since I'm playing guitar it's important to be equally fast and have good coordination in all your fingers. Right now, the only ones that can be considered fast and coordinated is my index and long finger -- my ring finger is getting there as well, but it still needs to be a whole lot better. The finger that troubles me the most, however, is my little finger. It's just bad. No need to go into details. So, I'm wondering what the best way to train both my ring and little finger would be. Should I just use them as much as I can when I play? Should I only play with those two fingers for a while? Or is there a much more efficient way to train them, that doesn't require a guitar? Because it can feel a bit frustrating and hopeless trying to train them when one of the fingers just refuse to work properly. :P All tips are appreciated!
  5. Btw, the song he plays a bit of at around 1/3, what is the name of it? If it's any help, it's also played in Stratovarius's "Holy Solos." I really want to know the name of it.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=KMhE ... ch=pantera I don't know about you, but I don't think you can get much more metal than that.
  7. I don't remember which ones I've told you about already, but: Killswitch Engage, Tool, Dream Theater, Pantera, Ted Nugent, Freedom Call, Edguy, Ayreon, Avantasia, Sentenced, Megadeth, Aria (Russian though.)
  8. Word. Also, Stratofortress and Holy Solos by Stratovarius are one of those songs I'll never grow tired of. 'For The Love Of God' by Steve Vai is definitely worth mentioning as well.
  9. Yamaha doesn't make guitars. Err... yes they do. " " I'd go for an Epiphone or Ibanez, good brands. Behringer is also good for beginner's guitar.
  10. Yeah man. However, I probably won't go... none of my friends are into neither Edguy nor Dragonforce that much -- and then ones who are won't have money. :( However, gigs I'm going to go to so far: Sonata Arctica - 11th of April. Been wanting to see these guys for ages. Rolling Stones - sometime-during-the-summer-months. My dad just SMSed me saying he got tickets. :D I'm not that big of a fan, really (haven't heard that much stuff from them), but my dad is and he wanted someone to go with. Will be in Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg. Same place I saw Iron Maiden last summer. Should be good!
  11. Pixelart? Cool? HOKEH! ... I remember that sig, and I still find it charming in its own little way. :P However, since this was basically the first of its kind posted on these forums, chances are you're the one who triggered the whole thing... or at least triggered it a few months earlier. Bad Wyrm!
  12. Pretty nice. I like the detail of the mech-gear-y-thingo. However, I would probably chop off like... 20 or 30 px from it. It would, eh... in lack of a better way to formulate it, make it more compact and more focused. :P
  13. Ah! I remember most of those sigs. Very nice stuff. Always liked your work, mate, especially your minimalistic ones. You're probably the only person on these forums who don't have to cram all sorts of crap into your images to make them look decent. Because to be able to pull that off, you'd actually need to be talented. You just need your fonts, a theme, some free time, and you can expect a splendid piece of work in no time. Again, very nice work -- but something's missing... Oh! I know! Where's "Clash Of The Titans"?!
  14. Yeah, she's not on any other song. I haven't been able to find the name of her yet either (they don't appear to have a website...)
  15. Azvareth

    Rob is Bob?

    Robert = Oggy. :shock:
  16. According digitaldreamdoor.com, Pantera is powermetal, Michael Jackson is rock and Sentenced is black/death metal.
  17. I can agree with Dio being power metal-related... but Maiden and Priest? :/ I'd say those are heavy metal (or NWOBHW to be proper). Definitely not pm. That's just my opinion though. Anyway, for me I like stuff like Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Freedom Call, Dragonforce, Twilightning (?) Edguy, Sonata Arctica etc.
  18. Ah, Donnie Darko's gotta be one of my (if not the) favourite movie. Had me a bit confused the first time as well. But now that I've seen the original three times, and the director's cut once it's now starting to make much more sense. And yes, the director's cut really makes a lot of things more clear, so you should definitely get it. :)
  19. Thanks guys. Right, for a short period of time yesterday, I was thinking/pursuaded (:P) of/into doing the coding myself -- asking in IRC whenever I need help. But I realised it will never work out, mostly because I'm a lazy person, and school is more hectic than ever this year. I will try to learn more about site coding, but not right now. But I'm sure I will learn quite a deal doing it this way too. Right, onto the next thing: hosting and database. Right now, I don't think I have enough money for a good hosting (unless you know a very cheap place to host a .com domain) with christmas coming up and everything. But that's not a problem, is it? Since you/I can still test the website in a browser. As for the database... are those free? How do I get one? :P Not really sure I know what it is. I just know I need one. :P And wordpress seems great. I just can't find an appealing theme -- and I hate that most themes have this calendar thing on the side. Anyway, if someone knows a good site for wordpress themes, and have some free time, feel free to have a look or link me to one. I've already looked at alexking.com. I really like this kind of themes. Most of the theme should be in black. One more thing, are the themes customisable? Sorry for asking so much.
  20. Well. Really necessary? No, it's probably not. But I don't see why not. :P It's something I can play around with, and a less public place for friends to talk about music and other things. I'd probably also learn some php-coding off it, so that's good, right? :) Also, Cameron, I misunderstood the wordpress thing, and it's definitely not amateury. So I shall use it. Thanks! :)
  21. Hannibal: sorry if I was a bit vague on the details. Time's no issue. But I'd prefer if it was finished within a year's period. :P And well... rewards, eh? I never thought about that (apart from my eternal gratitude :P) -- probably because I'm not sure how much work it will require. So I really have no idea (I don't even how much a real webdesigner gets for a job)... - if you have any suggestions, please feel free to tell me. Since it's certainly something that could be arranged (within limits, of course.) :) A preview of the design: If anyone has any input or feedback on the design, tell me, since I have no idea about the do's and do-not's when making a site layout. As for updating the site, I would of course prefer if it was as simple as possible, and I'd want to be able update it myself. I'm sure you know a simple solution to that. :) If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Cameron: thanks! But the blog thingy and the gallery thingy just looks and feels a bit generic and amateury. :( I want it to be a tad more professional and personal, if you get what I mean. However, I will most likely/definitely make use of phpbb.com though for the forum. :)
  22. I've been planning to launch my own website for years now, made numerous attempts at layouts, but when it was ready to be released, so to speak, I realised I didn't have the experience needed to code a website. So I asked friends... I also remember asking on here a few times, and some people volunteered, but in the end nothing really happened. Either the person was too busy, or wasn't really interested in the first place. Anyway, now I really want this thing to happen. So I need a person who's not very busy, and should preferably live in Europe (time difference could prove to be a hassle.) Right, so I have the layout ready and set. Only thing remaning is the coding-bit. You need to be able to do HTML coding, CSS as well as database coding. Without sounding like an idiot, if you can't do one of the above, don't bother replying. :P The different sections of the site will be: Home - basically where I will announce new updates and stuff. It's the mainpage. About Me - umm, a bit of a space filler. Will mention some random things about me I bet most people couldn't care less about. :P Gallery - I'll post some of my images here. This is where the database coding comes in. Journal - random things I feel like talking about. Forum - seems like every site has a forum now, this one will be no exception (also some friends have nagged about wanting to have a forum to spam on. :P) Database coding there as well, obviously. Contact - shouldn't need any explanation. Reply here if you're interested. :) Thanks in advance!
  23. I think good music in games can improve it lots (in the areas Bubsa just mentioned), however I don't think having "bad" music or no music at all would/can ruin it. Make it less exciting perhaps, but not ruin it? I dunno. As far as I'm concerned, music is definitely not getting worse. Quite the contrary, I think developers are now starting to realise how big a role music can actually play in a game, so they put more effort into making it good (i.e professional orchestras) Also, one word: Morrowind. I just love the music in that game. Shame there aren't many tracks. In the collector's edition of said game, you actually get a cd with the Morrowind music. :)
  24. Good program, yes. Thing is, I've never actually found a good skin, and I've looked in most places. The only one that I actually like is Bloss. I used it for a month or two. However, the fact that it made the tabs in Firefox black (thus not being able to read the text) caused me to get sick of it. If there's a way to solve the tab-issue, I could see myself using the program again.
  25. A lot of people also like rock and metal (and country?) - and you don't need to be a genius to guess what kind of instruments they choose to play. And how can an instrument be overrated? Have you tried playing all of them for more than 10 minutes? Meh. I don't know, just sounded like a pretty ignorant thing to say... no offense.
