I think Jagex only locked the accounts that logged on using a largely different IP address than usual. Say a person logged onto RuneScape last from ip-omg-numbers-here.abhsia.telus.com (Canada), then they login 2 hours later from 211-20-49-blahblah.vic.bigpond.net.au (Australia). Jagex will be alerted to that name more than any other, and lock it. I have yet to have my account locked.

If you don't play RuneScape on both computers at once, it's OK. Though... don't try logging in with your account on Computer 2 right after logging out of it on Computer 1. Wait a bit... like a minute or two.

"ich wollte ich wÃÆÃâÃâäre ein spatzengehirn ich lieÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸e es hÃÆÃâÃâüpfen flattern und flirrn ich lieÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸e es plustern spreizen und wachsen lieÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸e es schnÃÆÃâÃâäbeln ..." ^ first result from Google for lieÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸e. to be honest, I don't understand what it is; I just know "ich liebe es" is McDonald's slogan "i'm lovin it", translated into German. but it serves to demonstrate what that character is ;)

I can type all accented characters from French, German (except the ÃÆÃâÃâ¦Ã¸), Finnish, Spanish (except the ÃÆÃâÃâñ, ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâÿ and ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâá) and Italian. As stated above, I tried Alt0191 for the ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâÿ (Spanish reverse question mark) but it did not work. I have the French Canadian keyboard layout installed. I could use the ÃÆÃâÃâñ and stuff if I changed layouts, but I'd be really mixed up trying to write French accents as well. But now I may type "ÃÆÃâÃâça va?" (how's it going?, in French) and many other such messages :D

Cant see your own chat? Take yourself off your ignore list!

They'll just speak more and more to try and see their own messages. Bad, bad idea. :) Unless you like chat flooding. -
Since random numbers in computers are actually pseudo-random, I may understand why the above (posted by FooK-A-Ji) can be true... or completely false. Java's Random class generates "random" numbers based on the previous number it generated. But the first number is given by the programmer (also known as a "seed number"). If the seed is the same all the time, and it happens that the rare drop is on that number, the rare drop WILL always occur on the first kill. Now, there is a way to get a different seed every time: System.currentTimeMillis(). This returns the current time, which is obviously different every time the server restarts. If the seed is always the same, what you said, FooK, is true. If not, then you are in the wrong. sources: class java.util.Random, method java.lang.System.currentTimeMillis()

Nice guide 8) Now I know how to lure, thanks to you. I'll be rich! ;) -
"Hello! How are you doing? I'm fine! I speak a bit of Spanish, and you? I don't make a trip to school tomorrow. Because tomorrow is Saturday."

I faced another player, similarly stuck after rearrangements of the scenery, about 4 months ago. He only spoke to me in French; he couldn't send a query to Jagex at all since he didn't speak English. I sent a customer query to Jagex on his behalf and he was freed the next day. He thanked me in a PM :) So yes, Customer Support is your (and the other Tip.it'er)'s best bet. btw... hyt! :)

People who talk to you at a bus stop, not seeming to realize that you don't care at all. Most often these are elderly folk, but some youngsters can annoy one as well... People who turn everything you say into a joke, and can't stop, ever. Especially if those jokes are obscure sexual references. Girls who act too girly; boys who act too manly... come on, be yourself! People who've spent over 3 years in a country (or province)... yet can't even speak one word of the area's official language, only speaking their native tongue all the time. English in Quebec, for example, where the official language is French.

Tip.It Times Presents: English: Its Proper Form
Looce replied to oddfaery2's topic in General Discussion
When arguing about spelling, be sure to have good spelling yourself. Grammar is spelled with an A. Now, could we (including me, which I will) end this arguing over others' spelling and keep the comments focused on the article? :? -
... It is his account. It was his password. We don't know it.

This memorial was discussed in this thread as well, please give your opinion there. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it at around 10 PM due to real life issues (I need to sleep lots for work). About the two funerals - I think we should get everyone to go to only one, in a location such as the Lumbridge Church, because it is near a cemetery and we can use the coffins for a part of the service. There is no need to put members and free-players on separate services for the same event. What unites us is that we are a community. We are Tip.it'ers! This was my two cents. edit: blipo, please keep in mind that this service may be in free-playing worlds. Can Prayer books be read aloud in free-to-play as well?
-
I, for one, agree. We should have the service in Lumbridge, near the cemetery used in The Restless Ghost quest. All deserve to pay respects to a person they loved, and not just paying people.

hobgoblin11: Shiva's sister announced it in RuneScript (also known as TipMe)'s IRC channel, the channel which Shiva joined most often to talk with active members of the community. It also came to Arcticrunite's eyes when he read a newspaper online to keep up with the events in his area. He had no Internet access for the preceding week(s).

Let us not turn this thread into a flame, people. This is a serious thing here. I shall look at the progress of the query on this thread, but sadly, I can't go see the statue or plaque, if it is created, as I am a free player.
-
To all who argue about the signature bit, if you put a link to this topic in it (like me), you can put people in context quite easily. Which is what I shall do right now to preserve the memory of Shiva. In the [size=14][url=http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=403659]loving memory[/url][/size] of [url=http://forum.tip.it/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=21874]Shiva[/url]... ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâøÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâø, A[size=10][url=http://aom.heavengames.com]N[/url][/size]ari [size=10][url=http://forum.tip.it/login.php?logout=true]T[/url][/size]h .,̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâøÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâø [img=http://www.uzzisoft.com/randomsigscript/Shiva.jpeg] edit: Argh, this made the forums really wide. I introduced a space to break that.

Tip.It Times Presents: English: Its Proper Form
Looce replied to oddfaery2's topic in General Discussion
This is a thread about a Tip.it Times article about spelling, and I kind of expected it to become an argument about the posters' spelling and grammar... but that may become a flame war soon! Just keep in mind that we are humans and that we aren't perfect. Everyone makes typos, even me! (not often, but still) I almost fall into the IQ range discussed in the article (low 130's of IQ and not able to type properly because of shorthand writing). I type (almost) perfectly and take the time to correct any major error I can discern within the sentences I write. Which brings me to what I dislike most in RuneScape's chat function: the fact that we can't click inside the chat line to edit text directly, as with any normal user interface element, and the limit on the length of our messages. Sometimes, I agree, we must type fast; for example, if we are in Varrock and must type fast to sell (without using an auto-typer!), I will just move on. But if you are alone with a small group of people and don't talk much (Ice Cave anyone?), you can take the time to correct your messages before htting that Enter key. But please, do not bring up the argument of the Internet not being an English chatroom. This is like having supper, eating it with your fingers and saying, "This isn't a restaurant!" :| (Or not being polite and saying this isn't Japan, or any such nonsense) Well written, Zonorhc, and fully worth the time it took to write it! *gives Zonorhc a gold star of literacy, a golden token of appreciation, and a golden amulet of "I know what you feel :P"* -
Ah, the nostalgia of Pok̮̩̉̉mon! I remember when I was 14, when I was first introduced to Red... and got stuck on Cerulean and had to reset. Then the Silver cartridge I got, on which I got all Pok̮̩̉̉mon except #251 Celebi... Then Crystal, then Yellow, then Blue (yes, messed-up order; if you want to know, talk to my parents 8)) CRYSTAL OWNS! Gotta love the Battle Tower. I had so much excitement at the end of some level 100 battles. Imagine: your paralyzed Poliwrath at 70 HP, against a sleeping Steelix. Will Steelix wake up and hit before Poliwrath? If not, will Poliwrath even hit? :D I personally liked the first 251 Pok̮̩̉̉mon -- not only the first 151 -- then got off the hook as Ruby/Sapphire got released. I also got some cards, circa 150, but Pok̮̩̉̉mon beyond #151 do not exist in that collection :D

A Google search for Camtasia should take you to one. Camtasia Recorder, by TechSmith, is a utility which does just that: it takes a video of your screen, using whatever is displayed on it, no webcam needed. I'd recommend a 2.0+ GHz processor to go with that software, because it does take lots of power. It's shareware, though, so you'll have to pay once the trial is over... It's a bit of a bummer, yea'. I haven't seen any freeware screen capture utilities, but you might want to try this Google search if shareware doesn't fit you.

Oh my freaking gaaaawd...   ^^ I second that. For those who are interested, I think Smithie even wrote a program in VB.NET that could help him with detecting duplicates and the like, and converting the text into BBCode... o.O

I have also been folding for quite some time now, around 1.5 years. Recently I installed Folding@Home on my (dead) father's computer... Hopefully it will help Science research cures for diseases. Diseases like the one that killed my father: lung cancer, emphysema and the like...

Yeah. I'd say my average is 60 WPM, once I know the words I must write :P (same parameters as the first poster)
