In less than a month I'll be 17 and I've never kissed a girl. [/pitybait]
  2. I feel weird using this $135 lens when I've got a $1,000 lens in my bag, but it's so awesome.
  3. So I herd someone was stealing mah fiyah. BTW I'm wearing foundation - for stage lights. Just woke up but couldn't be bothered removing it properly before I went to bed.
  4. B&W

You should train yourself to the mindset that you don't need Black & White to make a nice photo. Everybody processes black & white. It's like a way of bypassing the thought behind lighting, composition and post-processing by simply converting to black and white. Here are some examples of how I've taken some otherwise not-so-brilliant photos, and converted them to ART by simply converting to black and white and vignetting a bit. Yes, these are all my photos. But now when I take the black and white away... Not so good now is it? My point here is that while black and white can be used to add a certain feel to a photo, it certainly takes more to create a good colour photo than a good black & white photo. At least when showing your photo to the average person. I feel I've gone way off-point here. No idea why I bothered posting so many black-and-white photos, but... yeah. I just wanted to illustrate a point I guess.
  5. Well, I said I'd post a new pic after I got my new camera. So I will. [hide=Click to see my face in all 21.1 megapixels][/hide] I tried cutting my own hair. This is the result. I used scissors, and scissors only. The trims of hair you see on my forehead are a result of, well, post-cut trimming. The pimples you see next to the trims of hair on my forehead are a result of a recent gorging on sweets. Usually, I have no pimples.
  6. I came here to comment on your spelling, but then I saw your pics and well... I really like them. Good job.
  7. The theme was "Our School" that's all I was given.
  8. Wow. Fail. I just spend 60k tokens - got tier 8 berserker amongst other things - and now I can't even use it? I really wish you could 'unspend' tokens.
  9. We tried signs, but they were either covered in bird crap, or not near the carpark (I would have the car turning in with the sign in view). And yes, the car scenes are unnecessary. We had 4 hours to come up with an idea and film it, and anything that took up time was welcome.
  10. I think the blurring is to simulate tilt/shift.
  11. Yeah, I just bundled it in with 'Sound production'. I figured music has a lot to do with Sound Production and vice versa. We did have two more people saying things but honestly, there isn't enough time in the song to put more clips in. Also, they sounded far more scripted than the rest. I edited the song to make it flow better, and making the song longer is out of the question. It would just sound 'broken'.
  12. Nah, that was more of a nervous laugh than a forced one.
  13. I know, I know. This is a video, it should go in the video link thread blah blah blah. No. I put too much work into this for it to be glanced over in a massive thread. (didn't want to upload it to YouTube) I know it's not that good, but I only had 4 hours to film this, including time spent coercing people into talking in front of a camera. Stills: (these are ALL unprocessed screenshots from the video)
  14. I see that your settings were: 2.5 sec shutter, 13 aperture, 400 ISO. Make your shutter speed longer, bring down your ISO (I believe mid-low tier Canons have a base ISO of around 87, so as close as you can get to that) and maybe even close your aperture further. A higher ISO will increase highlights a lot but not shadows as much. Use a RAW post-processor (Photoshop or Lightroom) and bring up the "Recovery" setting to as high as possible; this will tone down the highlights without affecting the overall image, so don't be afraid to make the sky bright. Oh, and a little fun with Lightroom: I seem to have turned back time.
  15. I like it. What did you use to create the webpage? Looks like something made in Lightroom 3. EDIT: Noticed some spelling errors :P "prefered" (should be preferred) "relavent" (should be relevant)

Holy crap, 25 aperture, 100 iso and it was this bright? Are you sure you didn't take this pic on Mercury? o_o

The second one seems overexposed. The first one I like how you got a decent exposure with a relatively long shutter speed (I think; can't really tell without EXIF and it being a resized pic). I think you were just unlucky and these would have looked great on a different day. Although, some more post-processing on the first one and it'd be better. I like the rocks and the mountain, and the mist. It really feels like morning.

There was a solar eclipse? Yep, early this morning. EDIT: Actually, it could be tomorrow morning.
  19. Visible by the naked eye. Oh also forgot to mention focal length. 24mm.
  20. Da_Latios replied to Ouchy's topic in Art and Media
Did you get the solar eclipse? It should have been at least partial in New Zealand. :S
  21. Umm, I took my camera and a tripod out somewhere where there weren't any trees. There were quite a few lights around, though. After a few minutes, the milky way was visible without the aid of any equipment, so I pointed the camera and the most dense part of the sky. Settings: Aperture: f/4.0 Shutter: 30 sec ISO: 800 White balance: Auto Exposure compensation: 0 Angle of elevation: ~80 degrees

Yeah, judging by the size of my arms, it's clear why I didn't know what they were.
  23. Okay so I finally managed to get a decent shot out my f/4 lens. However, a lot of the smaller stars are missing, and the image is blurred, due to the fact that I had to correct the star trails. How do you go about photographing the night sky, and how do you get rid of star trails effectively?
  24. Da_Latios replied to Sam's topic in Art and Media
Wow, the first one is amazing. The second one... I have no idea what it is. But the first one :o
  25. Da_Latios replied to Shiny's topic in Art and Media
How about some post-processing? I like this one. The first one, though... I dunno, it looks 'dead'; there are no people in the shot. Of course, if you meant it to look like that, well done, but I like the leaf one better.
