  1. Sweet, got a result on Google!
  2. If you don't notice, it means I'm doing a good job.
  3. I know you all love it when I post photos of myself after my frequent self-haircuts: Ten of you just jizzed in your pants. I take pride in cutting my own hair.
  4. This is tilt/shift done right: (also, it's done with an actual tilt/shift lens) Things actually appear miniature. Your photo looks like... a photo with gradating Gaussian blur. I know you've just started with this, but I do have to be honest. It doesn't look miniature at all. I also know tilt/shift isn't used only for making things appear miniature, but I understand it's the effect you wanted to achieve here. Also, you missed a spot:
  5. Senior formal, or as you guys in America would call it, Prom. Also, being recently involved in the wedding photography industry, I reckoned it'd be a good investment.
  6. You asked her to a ball She agreed You got her number She suggested dinner SHE suggested dinner I'd say it looks somewhat promising.

http://vocaroo.com/?media=vgXvGsR4qysezQzdU I'll include a photo of myself also: BECAUSE I AM AN ATTENTION [bleep]! Australian, by the way.
  8. So I bought a $500 suit... Sorry about the horrible lighting; my other strobe is broken so I just tried to bounce off the walls as much as I could. It's really annoying to take a self-portrait with manual focus, shallow DOF and forgetting where I was supposed to stand. Oh and, don't hate on the haircut. I cut it myself and I'm no hairdresser. >_>
  9. Suppose you're in a locker room with a few guys, and some gay men are supposedly 'attracted' to you. Would you take it as a compliment, or not? Why, or why not? Of course I would take it as a compliment if someone thought I was attractive. If you were a lesbian female and a heterosexual male was attracted to you, I'm sure you would take that as a compliment also.
  10. Chocolate is clearly superior to vanilla. Am I doing this right? Meh, might as well voice my opinion seeing as I'm here. Nobody's being gay AT you, so there's no need to get all worked up about homosexuals. They don't affect your life, so let's all just live and let live.
  11. ^White balance, son. Skin colour is also different in each picture.
  12. To answer your question; if the World Gate opened, life would go on as usual because it would be a pretty lame update anyway.
  13. First: Crop is too close, also boring Second: No subject, boring. Why did you take this photo? Looks like a test shot I'd take to check colour noise. Third: Depth of field alone cannot make an interesting photograph! Fourth: Okay, at least you have a focus point in this one. Still, it only looks not-as-bad because it's black & white. Fifth: This is new. New is good. Perspective is also good. Dark containers in the upper part of the image, bright containers in the lower half. It's better than the previous four, but still boring. Sixth: FINALLY, A SUBJECT! (now I know not all photographs need a subject, but it's my personal taste) Depth of field needs to be shifted more towards the insect. Complimentary colours are good; blue rope and yellowish rope framing the subject. Somehow I don't think you thought about this, though. So in short, the last two are the best. I'm guessing you just started though, because all of these just look like test shots. Not that I have much room to talk myself, but you don't have to be a fashion expert to know if a certain dress is ugly. I know you won't be offended by the fact I don't like these shots; I hope what I've said will help you improve, and I hope to see more of your photos soon. :)
  14. You have NO IDEA how useful a pair of folded tissues can be, especially to a person with hayfever. Anyway, the items go like this: Right pocket - phone Left pocket - earphones, 2 folded tissues (after use, bin or left BACK pocket) Right back pocket - wallet (very thin, my wallet reaches a maximum thickness of about 1.3cm with cards, cash and receipts inside) Left back pocket - tissues, wrappers I have yet to throw into a bin
  15. Okay okay so I finally found a way to get rid of that emo-esque fringe I had (well, it wasn't really emo-y, just a tad annoying) without cutting it off. The magic of hair wax! (fringe is still there, it's just been swept to the side) It's not perfect yet; I'm still experimenting and getting the hang of cutting my own hair (I've been cutting my own hair for about half a year now).
  16. I, on the contrary, believe 2 and 3 are the worst of the lot. In fact, the only picture that comes close to not being bad is the fourth one. I'm sure you had a lot of time on your hands, so coming up with something creative shouldn't have been too hard. This isn't my picture; it's just one that I found is a good example. First image: Motion blur, lens distortion on subject, subject cut off frame. Second image: It's just plain boring. What are you trying to convey? Third image: Again, simply boring. It's a wheel, big deal. Fourth image: You were using a flash and yet managed to get the sky's highlights blown? You need to shoot RAW. Fifth image: Apart from seeing the edges of the flash, it's shot at a horrible angle. Also the subject isn't doing anything "interesting".
  17. You were at the Gabba and you didn't tell me... I live 10 mins away from the Gabba.
  18. Does the 450D have a Highlight Tone Priority function? Since you're crushing your blacks anyway, you won't notice the increased shadow noise resulting from HTP, and it looks like you don't have Lightroom. A few tests I did with HTP just now: [hide] ^ISO 200, HTP OFF ^ISO 200, HTP ON ^ISO 400, HTP OFF ^ISO 400, HTP ON ^ISO 800, HTP OFF ^ISO 800, HTP ON ^ISO 1600, HTP OFF ^ISO 1600, HTP ON ^ISO 200, HTP OFF ^ISO 200, HTP ON ^ISO 400, HTP OFF ^ISO 400, HTP ON ^ISO 800, HTP OFF ^ISO 800, HTP ON ^ISO 1600, HTP OFF ^ISO 1600, HTP ON [/hide]
  19. So I was at Sizzlers a couple of hours ago with the tech team I work with. There were no more bowls and no more teaspoons; I was forced to eat my choc mousse out of a teacup with a sharp knife.
  20. The first one is awesome. I like how the fence leads into the sun. How many shots did you take? and could you post the underexposed and 0EV shots? I have a feeling this HDR can be simulated in a single shot.
  21. I think #4 is the best. But you really need to edit them. Here's my take. If you can afford to, and are shooting in RAW, always underexpose day scenes! That way, you have more freedom to increase the latitude in post-processing. Example:
  22. You make me cry inside. He's joking.
  23. Well it's Morgoth, isn't it? *looks at forum name* Oh right, RuneScape....
