Who is the Dark Lord of the elves?

Featured Replies

In the Regicide quest it's revealed that the Clan Iorwerth of the elves and King Lathas are trying to summon a character called Dark Lord.

For a long time many players have suspected that the Dark Lord is Zamorak. However, now it seems that it's going to be Bilrach who will summon Zamorak. Another suspect has been Zaros, who is going to be revived and summoned by Azzanadra.

Personally I think there has never been proof that the Dark Lord is Zamorak. The evidence is that Arianwyn says that if a portal to Zamorak's world is opened, we will all die and that the Tyras guardsmen talk about Zamorak's fury.

Opening a portal to Zamorak's world doesn't necessarily mean it's Zamorak who is going to be summoned. It could be anyone from Zamorak's world (Freneskae or some other world where Zamorak has been). Zamorak's fury can be interpreted as an idiom, like "all hell breaks loose".

Elrond? The problem is little is known about elves, hopefully in the next installment we get more into the storyline ;)

I'm more interested in finding more about Seren though :P

smellysockssigbyblfazer.png

I remember discussing this in another topic a while ago, where I said it could even be some unknown (to us) god/person.

As far as we know, Seren is the only Elven deity, but nobody ever said it was indeed the only one.

On the 13th of October it will have been 1 year since the previous elf quest.

On the 17th of October 2005, Mournings End 2 was released.

In other words, soon 3 years until we get the next quest.

Was really into the Elf storyline before, but its faded with time.

I think it may be a fair assumption that if the elves have their own Good god (Seren) their may also be an elven evil god, perhaps from the plane they originated from. Seren brought them to rs for a reason, perhaps to save them?

Well it's Morgoth, isn't it? *looks at forum name* Oh right, RuneScape....

I'd rather the dark lord of the elves to be real bad, Morgoth-like Satan type. The evil gods, Zamorak and Zaros, seem like wussies: Zamorak is just a lich who got lucky. Zaros is just 'a being' which could be stabbed with a staff. The only bad guys in Runescape who seem to have some mystery in them are the Dragonkins, and Lord Drakan. Probably mainly because not much is revealed about them, yet. Mahjarrats are just... meh. They have 'civil wars' and politics, and yet have failed to do much reasonable in thousands of years. (C'mon, meet in the north already, anyways!)

Who said that Zaros was an evil god? He ruled a prosperous civilisation for centuries. I have a feeling that other gods portray him has evil because he was so powerful and others wanted it for themselves.

Yup nothing defines Zaros as definite evil.

Most logical arguments suggest Zaros to be the god of Strength or Power.

Mainly because the world is meant to be kept in balance by Guthix.

In the major Gods (pre-zammy)

We had Law (Armadyl) opposed by War (Bandos)

Saradomin is the god of Wisdom, therefore a logical opposition in the argument of balance would be strength/power as it fits the whole age old brains vs brawn dilema.

Zamorak is arguably the natural opposition of Guthix in godly terms, as Guthix is balance and nature Zamorak is Chaos and Destruction; plus we know Zammy dislikes all the gods (by heavy implication at the very least) hence he over threw Zaros and started the godwars.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Within the Light

One of the Tyras guards mentions zamorak.

Which I mentioned in the first post.

The Dark Lord is obviosuly Elvarg, but maybe it could be Zamorak or another being.

Elvarg the dragon? Where'd you get that from?

There are two possibilities:

1) It's a god/powerful being we haven't heard of yet. In that case, we can't really argue about it. Also, it will most likely be an evil or dark version of Seren.

2) It's one of the currently known gods. If so if will most likely be one of the 'evil' ones, even though Dark =/= Evil.

Possibilities are (going way outside the box here, bear with me):

Zaros

- A good candidate, as it is known that he is banished from the realm. A portal by Azzanadra has been openend, though it's only strong enough to communicate with him.

Zamorak

- Being banished from the realm of Gielinor, this is about the same likelihood as Zaros, or a bit lower. Is held back by the Edicts of Guthix. If brought back, the Edicts might be broken (bye-bye Gielinor)

A random Mahjarrat, or even the Freneskae Creator God

- It has never been said to be a god, or a being of this plane. Freneskae is/was full of powerful being which could be mistaken for gods due to their (artificial) longlivity

An Elder God

- This would bring major mayhem, and would be a VERY good reason to stop the 'dark elves'. If the Stone of Jas is taken as a measurement, they will be strong beyond comparison. The Stone is most likely a tool for the Elder Gods, while it is an item beyond the wildest dreams of even the current gods.

Dragonkin

- Same reason as the Mahjarrat: longlivity and very powerful, could be mistaken for gods, and are definitly 'evil' enough to be stopped by the player.

A Demon of some kind

- Demons are summoned, and they are trying to use the Death Altar, which is a powerful source of Death energy.

Definitely. I know they're the 'epics' of the quest world, but I wish they'd clean them up. The stories may suck if the stories are rushed, but the gaps have been too large. Damn Prifndeidnjaksskdsss and it's huge size. >_>

Trying to summon a God who *signed* the Edicts of Guthix seems like a really bad and stupid idea to me. I certainly hope the Elves are smarter than that.

What about Iban though. After all, he was located dangerously close to the entrance to Tirannwn.

Good point, Iban now has godly powers right? The same as Zamorak, godly powers but not natural godly powers.

I'm sure the guys at Jagex have not even decided who was that "Dark Lord" and are taking notes/having a good laugh (Probably a good laugh).

Actually, all the gods hate Zamorak because of how he defeated one of them. Same reason all the gods are pissed off at Zanik - they're the gods, despite whatever other conflicts they have with one another, the respect everyones godhood. And get annoyed when someone upsurps one of them.

He was banished once he became a god, and subsequently came back and started the godwars. He's just as banished from Gielinor as saradomin is.

Can't see it being zaros, he's tied up with Azzandra way over east.

Er. Why would they be working on bringing him back? Until recently, he was AROUND in the first place. And then we killed him. I find it doubtful they started working on bringing back their dark lord after we beat the underground pass....

Frankly, after reading and considering things, my money is that it's someone that has yet to be intoduced.

Remember Agrith-Naar, who actually got more powerful when he was banished.

Iban was nothing though, just destroy a doll that had elements of himself and hes gone, at best he would be a lich not a god

And if they planned on using him wouldnt they have already used him to accomplish their goals?

If Iban was a lich it would mean that he has an object (phylactery) which contains his soul, and as long as the object is intact, he cannot be killed (killing his body wouldn't really kill him). That could be possible. I think the Mahjarrat are liches. Iban is a wannabe Mahjarrat, so he could have imitated them.

The diamonds of Azzanadra could be phylacteries, and the "enemies put his soul to the diamonds" story is just a cover story.

Ok, now I havent done the underground pass quest in years :P but there were these items you needed to defeat him. (A doll was mentioned) So I think there is a good possibility he is/was a lich.

Iban certainly was a powerful mage, however, he had already died before becoming the Iban from Underground Pass.

The witch that has her home in the Pass had resurrected him for unknown purposes (though she could be a follower of him before he died). Also, we don't know how Iban was killed the first time.

Personally, I think it is an opposite to Seren, which we will eventually gain some knowledge about, but will (hopefully) never see.
