  1. An actual suggestion would be far more constructive. Please post details regarding the areas where you think it "needs some work". All the supporters need to agree on the details, or else the idea will have a greater chance of failure.
  2. I think if people want this idea to take off, they really need to coordinate the idea, and have people committed for about a week. That is, the only skill they train for that week is Fishing. Or cooking if we're going to add that part. So once there are enough supporters lined up, schedule a coordinated "Start Date", and you can get someone to post in RSOF, Tip.it on the relevant boards, and any other sites you can think of (I can post on RSOF). You also are going to have some slow going in the beginning, and folks are going to have to accept the idea that for a while, until word gets out, you're going to have to operate at a loss. So, would the original poster like to build a list of "supporters" and add it to the first post? You can count me in as a cooker.
  3. I haven't posted that thing anywhere. Just looking for feedback at this point. And I'll post the code once it's finalized so whomever it was who had the original idea can post it. I'm not looking to steal credit. I couldn't care less. I just like the idea.
  4. If a player stops buying these logs from the general store, will the macroers get any less money? Will the macroers get any less XP? Are players buying from the general store in any way affecting the behavior of these autoers? Of course not. The logs will eventually burn away, one every 20-30 seconds or so, whether or not players buy from the General Store. If the player's behavior was in any way rewarding the autoers/macroers, I could see how there would be a problem. But the former has ZERO effect on the latter. It's not like you can put pressure on the owners of the General Store and force them into bankruptcy or something for not doing a thorough background check on their suppliers, LOL. Feel free to not buy in protest, but know full well that there is no correlation between your buying/not buying and the autoers profiting/not profiting.
  5. OK, I've read through all the posts and I've expanded upon it to include cooks as well as runners. Notes: The world should only be for lobsters. The varying ratios of swordfish/ tuna, and the high cooking level required for swords, makes things far too complex in this example. Charging too much makes it very, very difficult for low-level runners (the folks who would do this) to participate. This is an idea that needs to be worked through, although I think merchanters would start showing up at Draynor bank buying lobbies at 150-180, then going on to sell for 200. Prices are only suggestions, and ultimately the market will decide what the best prices will be for each. We can update the price as the ideas fleshes itself out. Take a read though, and let me know what you all think: What think you all? Edits and suggestions appreciated!
  6. Every month, when I'm billed for my membership, I get an email from "shopper at uk.worldpay.com" titled "Confirmation: CARD Transaction". In it is a new transaction ID every month. Check you emails spam/junk filter if you're not getting the emails.
  7. This is not correct. Although you do point to construction as an exception, Farming is a money-buy-exp skill as well. You buy super-expensive tree seeds, and leave it alone. Same goes for herblore. You can go around buying herbs, seconds and vials, getting 100K+ xp/hour if your level is high enough. You can't level mining any faster with more money. You can't level fishing any faster with more money. You can't level woodcutting any faster with more money. More and more of Jagex's newest releases are "pay-to-level faster". Why anyone thinks Hunting will be different is beyond me. Construction was different only in that it was an actual cash-eater (billions of gp leaving the game permanently). The only real question is whether Construction was a harbinger of cash-eating yet pretty cool and complicated skills, or if the cash-eating was a one time aberration. In my mind there is no doubt you will be able to buy your way to fast Hunting levels.
  8. The Rimmington general store usually has a lot as well. 12 gp each Willows are usually found along water. So, you can try south of Rimmington, south of Draynor, or along the Lumbridge river. I used to like to burn just south of Rimmington behind the archery store. Hope this helps Neat, never knew about the Rimmington one. Is there a long place to burn without having to run back and forth like Lumby? And 12gp is even cheaper than I thought, lol. Beats paying 25-45 ea, lol. F2P Varrock also tends to have 10K+ willows in the general store. That is by far the best/easier/most efficient way to level firemaking. Unless you want woodcutting xp (which you should). Then cut and burn...
  9. There's no reason to not become a member at any level. Everything is easier in members, you do things faster, you level faster, you make more money, regardless of your level. You can get mining up easier with barely populated iron mines like Ardougne. You can use rings of forging to get your smithing up faster. Better fishing spots. Better monsters, and less competition. Cheaper arrows, better weapons and tools. There are tons of quests that get you XP in all skills super-fast. The idea that you should "wait" to become a member is basically nonsense, unless you're only going to stay a member for a limited time. Then I supponse you might want to wait until you can use a whip, smelt cannonballs, cut yews, etc. Otherwise, if you forsee spending $60 over the year for membership, you should do it right away. It would be foolish to wait, in fact.
  10. If it's not possible to enter by normal means, ask a friend to stake you for 1 gp, and go in and dig it up. Then, let him kill you. You won't lose items.
  11. When the time comes for me to pick up dragon armor, I really don't see why I wouldn't opt for the Dragon "Kilt" for 700K, as opposed to the Dragon Platelegs for 2.5 Mill. I'm more than happy to suffer the slings and indignation that the pre-teens on RS have in store for me after such a purchase. I'll take Dharok's Great axe and immature insults instead. 85-15 legs/skirts.
  12. You are now familiar with the concept of "three-iteming" it in the Wildy. When you die, anywhere, you keep your three most expensive items. Unless you attacked someone first, and have been skulled. Then you lose all when you die. Most folks do, myself included. The only PKers who will bother you are the misanthropes who will want to kill you just for the heck of it. They know wildy miners won't have anything of real value (they're certainly not going to carry ore around), so those that do attack you are usually just the anti-social types who just want to kill you so they can tell you that they "owned" you. If you get attacked, try to high tail it out. You might make it out, you might not. It's no biggie if you're three-iteming it out there. EDIT: if you do get attacked, about 1/2 way back on the run to Edgeville start randomly dropping your ores. This way, they will stay invisible to all other players for about 1 minute. That way, if the PKer kills you, and you've dropped all your ores, he'll get nothing when you die. That is, unless he decides to stick around and wait for your dropped items to appear a minute later. There's also a slight chance that, if you can get to bank in Lumby, tele to Barbarian village or Varrock, you can race back in time to pick up those late dropped ores. Not likely, but possible.
  13. Prices for addy vary, but 900 is definitely near the higher end of the scale. If you've got a permanent buyer lined up, and you don't have to worry about roaming the boards to sell, I think it's a fair deal. The best F2P spot I know of is the Hobgoblin Mines in level 32 Wilderness. There are 8 addy rocks out there. Bring a rune pick, platebody and legs. That's it. If you get PKed, all you lose is the addy ores. Losing 28 Addy ores would stink, but you need something to protect against the Hobgoblins until they get bored of you (ie, they stop attacking after you've been there a while). Plus, if you're waiting for the Addy to respawn you can train on the iron and coal ores in the mine as you wait.
  14. Methinks an experiment is in order...
  15. Since the other two F2P resource gathering skills (Mining and Woodcutting) are adversely affected by in-game competition (albeit in different ways), does the same hold true for fishing? It would seem logical that it would. My assumption is that, at the very least, the effect would be similar to Woodcutting, in that you'll get far fewer fish per spot, and will have to constantly change spots, slowing your down, and making fishing more tedious. On the other hand, if you were alone at a spot, you'd get all the fish from that particular spot. It also feels like your "catching rate" is a lot slower if you're competing against other players, especially if they're higher level fishers. Does anyone know for sure?
  16. Be careful about bumping your own thread. This is a violation of Tip.it rules and you'll get locked down here as well. You don't want that, now.
  17. I know that when I was pushing to get my cooking from the high 50s up to 68, I was looking desperately for raw trout and salmon, but found it very difficult to find. I ended up paying about 75 each for 8K raw trout. You can make fairly decent money if you patiently lurk on the RS official forums ("Marketplace-->Food"). Granted, you can't post, but just wait until someone posts in desperation and then send them a PM. In F2P, you'll catch 3-4 trout/salmon for every lobby the lobby fishers catch, which on a per/hour basis should be more money if you're a patient seller.
  18. Farmers require 8 bittercap mushrooms to look after your whiteberry bushes. You need whiteberries to make super defense potions.
  19. If one could average 200,000 xp/hour in all skills, played 10 hours day, every day, taking only 25 days off all year, it would take around 6 ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâý years to get 200,000,000 xp in every skill. I do not think any one human being could stand to do that. I'm pretty sure they would kill themselves, literally, long before they ever reached that level. Or their families would have an intervention for them.

Good luck to you. You don't know me and I certainly don't know you, but I did some quick calculations and figured out that you averaged about 483K xp per day to get to where you were when you quit. I have Runescape addiction problems myself, so I'm not judging you. But clearly, it seems like your feat would have required an incredible amount of your waking hours in that short span of time to accomplish. Judging by your goodbye email it appears that it did, and there were some not-so-positive real life implications for you. While you don't owe anyone anything, I think it would be of immense real-world value for you to write down a little bit about what happened to you, and what reaching #11 in RS did for you in the long run, in the grand scheme of things in life. A lot of folks would benefit from such a tale, and it seems like one you might not mind telling. And I think it's a sure sign that you now seem to have a handle on things that you left before getting 99 in all skills. Again, good luck, and I hope you take this in the spirt that it was intended.
  21. Or, another way to look at it is: For those for whom gp is not a concern, price inflation ensures that they have a steady supply of those materials required to reach 99 in the new skill.
  22. That's just silly. If Builders were willing to pay huge premiums for raw and finished materials when Construction came out, how is that anybody's fault other than their own? The whole point of supply and demand is this: if the price of something goes sky-high, more people will rush in to cash in, and in the end, produce more of that product, and lower prices again. When this new Hunting skill comes out, there is likely going to be a demand for something, and that demand for that something will end up far outstripping the supply. And prices will skyrocket. That's how markets work. If I'm standing there selling something, and somebody offers 10x what it cost me to make it, how is that the fault of anyone but the buyer? Only a maroon would insist on taking less. The RS economy for raw materials cannot be "price manipulated". Maybe the rares market can, but the raw materials market simply follows the laws of supply and demand. Runescape is not a Communist society. It's a free-market Utopia. Deal with it and work on Hunting after the hubbub (and cost) dies down.
  23. I'll have to concur here. Check the high scores, and see how many people have maxed out XP on cooking. It is, without question, the easiest skill to train. The need to improve fishing, mining, agility and thieving looong before they improve cooking.
  24. Seriously, I have trouble finding noobs to collect regular logs in large quantities. Usually after a few hundred logs they give up. And believe me, I understand. It's too bad those trees go down after one log.
