Pieces of Christine - A (very) short story
Something I scribbled down during the course of a very boring history lecture. It's a tad on the short side, but I think it came out alright. --- Pieces of Christine The body that floated down the canal was a fragile thing. Her lifeless eyes stared up into the sunrise. She smiled. The ruby lips were the only thing on her waxen, porcelain face that still seemed somewhat alive. She smiled. Her stiff dead fingers were curled around the strap of a small black purse. The clasp had somehow opened, and one by one the contents were pulled out by the water. A wallet. Lipstick. An empty can of mace. An unopened pack of tissues. A string of beads attached to a crucifix. The rosary took a few minutes to clear itself from the handbag, but then it too drifted off. The body still smiled. She had been floating in the canal for three days now. Past houses, schools, bridges̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ Nobody had seen her as she drifted past. There was a large tear in her black velvet dress. She had been stuck on a rusty hook jutting out from a pillar for a while until the force of the water tore her loose to continue her journey. Her long blonde hair fanned out in her wake, leaving a long line of v-shaped ripples. A few black wisps were caught in it, dead leaves that had been floating down the canal just like she was until they became stuck in the loose strands. A seagull screeched in the distance. She was nearly there. The west wind carried the scent of sal[bleep]er into the town as it pushed along leaden clouds heavy with rain. Their sprawling masses were painted red by the rising sun. The shadow of another bridge drifted over her. The wooden thing groaned under the weight of the fishmonger̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s cart that was being pushed over it, accompanied by bellowed praise of the freshness of its contents that pulled the last few that were still sleeping out of their slumber. Christine shook slightly. The water became more turbulent now that she had passed out into the sea. She still smiled as the warm red light of the sun slowly shifted to a pale yellow. A small swell shook her just enough to force the empty purse from her fingers. It drifted away slowly, leaving Christine behind as she floated towards a new day.

Amped 2
For some reason I've always liked the SSX snowboarding games better... The third is probably my favourite, the whole continuous mountain setup is brilliant.

Most anticiticiapited game this year?
The Godfather game is either going to be great or blow up in EA's faces for the full ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì60.000.000 it cost them to produce it. Twilight Princess is definiately the surest bet of this year's lineup.

Argumentative essay on multicultural society.
This is an essay I wrote for the BBC Young Writers Contest. The assignment was to write a 600 word argumentative essay on the topic 'Young people are the key to understanding multicultural values'. Note that this applies to western Europe in general and Holland in particular; I don't know how relevant this is to America/Australia/etc.. --- The establishment of multicultural values by the young, for the young. The concept of immigration, whether it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s for economical, political or religious reason, is not new. During the seventeenth and eighteenth century, there was a time when the ratio of Dutch citizens to foreigners was thirty to one. The majority of them came fleeing political and religious oppression. They consisted mostly of French protestants, Portuguese Jews and Italian scientists. Freedom of press and freedom of religion were the main reasons for them to settle here. As a whole, we were a remarkably tolerant society. However, since world war 2, there has been a new influx of immigration that seems to be received very differently indeed. For one, the amount of foreigners that came solely for economical reasons seems a lot larger. The diversity of immigrants is also much larger. They now come from all across the globe in stead of just Europe. The ratio is now five hundred to one, a mere fraction of what it once was, but for some reason it seems much harder to deal with the idea of multicultural values today than it did two centuries ago. Now, while three generations of immigrants struggle to carve out a place for themselves in society, it seems very hard to give a definition of the values that bind them and bind us. On every level, political, educational, religious or otherwise, there is a constant debate on how things should be, yet there̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a general feeling of malaise surrounding the discussion; it just doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t seem to work. But is all talking really the best way to come to a consensus? Perhaps the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâexperts̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ would do best to just take a step back and observe those places where people come together and interact, especially the younger people. After all, a person̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s values are mostly defined by their upbringing, and they are the one that in ten or fifteen years will be putting a new generation of children into this world. If we want to know how multiculturalism would apply to these children, learning from their future parents would provide some interesting insights. This more empirical approach to what is quickly becoming a sociological dilemma is a new way to focus on both present and future, and on how one will affect the other. Once we know what to expect, we can work together to create a social environment where all citizens can live as equal. The opportunities a young person has to develop themselves both at work and within their community are still too often dictated by ethnical background. The recent race riots in various French cities have clearly shown us the dangers of ignoring the plight of a younger generation. Multicultural values are the key to establishing a healthy society of equals, a society where each individual can live up to their full potential. We have seen the consequences of ignoring the current impoverished state of young immigrants. If we are to create a society in which our children can enjoy their childhoods in safety, we have to act now. We can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t expect things to set themselves right on their own, but we need to look and listen before we act. Young people are the key to understanding multicultural values, but all too often they get ignored in the debate, and it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s becoming more and more obvious that they will not be ignored much longer. If we want to create a society based on multicultural values we have to listen to all its members, its youngest members most of all. They carry the burden of the future with them.

Equilibrium vs. The Matrix
Equilibrium was entertaining enough, nothing special though. The fight sequences were nice, especially the face getting sliced off at the end. Of course it's pretty much physically impossible to do something like that, but nvm... The first Matrix movie is definiately superior to it, but I'm not too sure about the other two...

-- FOR ALL THE DUTCH PPL OUT THERE -- (way to funny!)
There's a special hidden sub-forum for Dutch-speaking TIF members, you should pm Tsai or Purecheese to let you in, I think this would be better of there. As for the story... "The Return of Lord Reetveter" doesn't sound too promising :|

Yessss. Computer guy thank you!
That's one reason I hate to turn to professional repairmen. They're just too quick to pull out formatting as a fix-all tool. I know time is money and all that, but sometimes if they'd just pay a little more attention...

Vidyagame tax, y'all
There's some great Texan math going on on that site... :P Anyway, maybe the Dukes of Hazzard will come out of retirement, running shipments of video games along the backcountry routes in memory of their moonshinin' days...

It was alrightish, but I'm getting a bit bored of the random insane song flashes. This guy lacks quality, which wasn't too bad when it had a message, but I don't think this is as good imho :?

The Jack Thompson Crusade
- Bounty of the Hunt - A draft
This is a draft of an action scene that I wrote mostly as practice, since I seem to have trouble writing those. There's no real storyline, just a group of hunters capturing and killing a large animal. --- Bounty of the Hunt With a grunt of exertion, Thivas pulled himself up the cliff. His palms left two bloody smears, the result of dozens of small cuts and scratches caused by the razor-sharp rocks. As he waited for the rest of his group to catch up with him, he scanned the valley beyond. On the other side of the ridge lay a verdant world completely different from the sun blasted mountains behind them. The long grass rippled lightly in the wind as far as the eyes could see, interrupted only by the wide river that drifted lazily through the emerald sea. A few thin columns of smoke rose up in the distance. Humans, the only thing keeping Thivas̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ people from moving in permanently. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅYou̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re dreaming again̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ- Anyone remember the finger in Wendy's chili story?
Meh, they deserved it. Any restaurant would suffer an insane amount of damage from stories like that.- Get up in the mornin', get on the bus...
I usually have my music in and/or sleep, so people never talk to me except to ask me if the seat next to me is taken (very little legroom in buses, so I usually put my bag on the seat next to me)- Tip.It Times: Varrock Library (on the forums)
That sentence took me about five minutes to put down properly. At first I spelled 'mellon' as 'melon' because of the Dutch spelling rules that I'm used to. Luckily a quick spellcheck showed that 'melon' should be spelled as 'melon', so I spelled it 'mellon'- My tribute to the Varrock Library, now in the Tip.It Times!
Pffft, typos are the editor's job :P- Tip.It Times: Varrock Library (on the forums)
The point was simply drawing people's attention to the Varrock Library and the fact that they've been revised and restaffed. What better way to do draw attention to a creative writing board than with a piece of creating writing?- Tip.It Times: Varrock Library (on the forums)
Yeah, that kinda was a jab at how some people post things without even bothering to run them through a spellchecker... - Bounty of the Hunt - A draft
