  1. It sounded like a heavy artillery shell hit the house next door to us.
  2. It was 8 AM. I was leaving my house in order to go to school when BOOM! the house rattled. Needless to say, it scared the living hell out of everyone. Anyway, the local news network just explained what the sonic boom was. It was the space shuttle Discovery flying over Little Rock, Arkansas.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXzCOlPHFmc When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wonder'd. Honour the charge they made! Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred... This has been another quality movie from the Empire Classical Films Network! (PS: Happy 4/20, everyone!)
  4. The part of China that Rocco left (and I think he changed his mind and kept it) borders India. Doing this will just give him a chance to heal from his problems by taking out a chunk of India.
  5. Yeah harassing Portugal into joining the Iberian Republic is a good way to build up good relations.
  6. I am holding onto Gibraltar for now.
  7. Two new holidays (English) have been created in Britain: King Alfred's Day and King Harold's Day. King Alfred's Day commemorates English independence from the Danes, whereas King Harold's Day is a time of solemn remembrance for the legitimate heir to the English throne. King Harold of Wessex was killed in battle by the Normans, and William the Conqueror stole his throne. Also, the Lord Protector has announced that he wishes to participate in Kiel Week, much against the advice of his advisers.
  8. Oppression of populace is almost never a good option. I don't think you understand that. Oppression is a natural part of any system except Anarchy... And anarchy will always lead to oppression.... It's cyclical. The best thing any government can do is to preserve individual liberties while at the same time trying to preserve laws so governance doesn't fall into the hands of the collective (under the banner of individual rights) and just lead to mob-rule. Mob-rule will just lead to chaos anyway.
  9. I'm not sure if people really even have had the opportunity to try out these rewards yet... It's too early to really tell, to be honest.
  10. Hmm?
  11. The seax has made a comeback in England (and indeed the entire Britannian military) as a cheap and effective weapon for close-quarter combat. It is being incorporated into the military as a last-resort weapon.
  12. Yes, every area ("constituency") votes a (local?) representative - their Member of Parliament (MP). The MP goes to London and votes in legislation to (apparently) represent their constituency (most vote along party lines). It sounds a lot like our republican system, then. We elect senators and representatives from our constituent states. They then promise to represent our state, but they usually vote along party lines.
  13. Go to the top of the page and click Live Chat. Then type /join #hegemony
  14. I assumed that most people hated Brown because of all of the negative comments about him that I have read (reason why people are voting for BNP and all that jazz). Anyway, I'm not too familiar with British politics, but is the United Kingdom actually a democracy? I'm not talking about the modern incorrect usage of the term... I'm talking about the people literally voting on the legislation as opposed to elected representatives doing it for the populace (like the United States). I know quite a bit about British history, but I just wanted to clarify something; I assume it is the latter.
  15. Effective immediately. Looks like Hexoria has been reduced to Hexakastan.
  16. Yeh English assesment! I need the map and I really have to go. Tell you tommorow. The attack begins if the answer is not final at the latest, 30 minutes from now. I know that you can certainly make a decision within the timeframe, but you choose not to. ^ Proposed map. I am planning to create the new country of Manchuria, a puppet state of the United States. That map's weird...
  17. What's your country's name again? Can't find it on the map...
  18. It's frustrating as hell that I have to search the forums for my suggestion thread because it doesn't show up under my profile... Also, I am not getting any feedback at all for my Construction Improvements thread.... Nice going, Jagex... Now there's zero chance in hell that any of my suggestions will ever be noticed by them.
  19. He's English, too, and he hates Gingers... And those goddamned traitor American colonists!
  20. The Lord Protector himself has condemned annihilation of Chinese infrastructure. The war has ended in the region, so there's no reason to vandalize civilian property.
  21. The Commonwealth will consider the proposal, Mather.
  22. This is for archive purposes only. 340,000 Active 760,000 Reserves 100,000 Colonial Militia 20,000 Holy Imperial Order Population Estimate: 80 million Max Ex? Y Anyway, the Holy Imperial Order (formerly called Order of the White Dragon) is recruiting teachers, missionaries, and other volunteers.
  23. I disagree with the notion that the newspaper industry should be replaced with online journalism. A hostile nation could simply start a large-scale cyber war against your country and thus prevent civilians from accessing information. The newspaper is simply something that should be kept, despite the convenience of the Internet.
  24. Parliament has passed the Grace Act, which provides low-paying jobs for the unemployed. Part of the military spending is also going into Defence. The Royal Navy and the Britannian army are now on full-alert. Colonial Militiamen have been notified with letters stating that Chinese aggression may spill over into Europe, which could be a potential threat to the Britannian continent despite Britannian peaceful policy.
  25. You guys aren't gonna end up with Gordon Brown again, are you?
