Empire
Here's a little background story that I came up with (hopefully it is compatible). The Terran Federation was a project headed by the Anglo-Saxon nations, especially Great Britain and the United States. Volunteers were selected from across Europe, the United States, Oceania, and Canada. These colonial volunteers were sent to a distant system with the hopes that they would establish an autonomous republic free of the woes faced on Earth. Another goal of the project was to experiment with benevolent world governance. The system was called Midgard, named after the World of Men from the old Norse religion. The planet itself would be called Terra. Over time, settlements were founded. People began to make a new life for themselves and their children. Though these times were uncertain, they were also filled with joy. Parades were held. People laughed. People danced. However, people still remembered and mourned for those who were lost on Earth. The Era of Tears, as it was called, was not yet over.

Race: Human Planet: I'll call it Terra (sorry in a rush), in Midgard Other elements: Republican government headed by President William E. Ulbricht. People gain suffrage by contributing to society through Federal Service. Name: Terran Federation

university students
I *plan* to start uni in the Fall. However, I will possibly end up taking a class or two during the Summer, or I may at least try to adjust to university life by working as a secretary or working in something like the university's bookstore. I'm not sure. It's not a particularly prestigious university, but it isn't necessarily a bad one either. I'm only going to it in order to complete core classes, then I plan to go to pharmacy school. Hopefully I will pass the pharmacology exam (can't remember what it's called). If not, then I will go on to something else, assuming that I don't get bored with pharmacology and change my major anyway... Decisions, decisions...

WikiLeaks releases footage believed to show civilian deaths in Iraq in 2007.
No. Really? Please elaborate. Never ONCE did he imply that he believed that he was racially superior. Likewise, I'm assuming that you believe that he believes that he is superior because he is American. For your information, 'American' is not a race, nor is it even an ethnicity. Therefore, he is not racist; you misused the term. Please learn what a race is, it has nothing to do with genetic similarities. Example: Many Lebanese and Syrian people are extremely genetically similar, two distinct races. Race is a social construct that has an ideology, cultural pattern or common descent as its core. For Americans their core is an ideology consisting of "Americaness", the American Dream, land of opportunity idea, etc. Although I would say the "American race" core has diminished since after WW2, things like the Social Register defined the finest of the American race, but with the infusion of more non-Anglo-Saxon races, the mesh of American culture is different and the idea of Social Darwinism has almost vanished (I like how American textbooks normally forget to mention Hitler's declarations of what was superior were often similar to America's and if you know of the Battle of Dunkirk you would know Hitler wanted to compromise with the other Anglo-Saxons. Again, Americans censor war to romanticize their heroism or lack thereof) I sort of agree with that, but I feel like the term "racist" is used too broadly. I could make a gay slur, and someone, somewhere would call me a racist. As for the Americanism, I view it more as the creation of an autonomous cultural identity and thus forsaking one's native identity (Anglo-Saxon culture became "less English" after the American Revolution, especially with the diffusion of Germans and Irishmen throughout American society. However, most groups have basically given up their true cultures and adopted the "American way of life". However, many people strongly correlate ethnicity with race. For example, I'm Anglo-Saxon. Some people would like to refer to this ethnic group as belonging to the great Germanic Race. However, many more people will claim that there is a "White Race", which includes all Indo-European peoples. However, there are people who only view Slavics, Celts, and Germanic peoples as members of the "White Race" while others include Iranians and some Indians (from the Aryan invasion of India). Race is too subjective and hotly debated. Personally, I think it's more accurate to categorize someone by their ethnic identity, but there are far too many ethnic groups for any sort of efficiency. Likewise, many people, especially Anglo-Saxons have a mixed ethnicity. Most Anglo-Saxons have Celtic blood due either in part with the interbreeding of Celts and Anglos following the Germanic invasion of Britain or Celtic immigration to these regions (including colonies such as America, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand).

Thank you for the elaborate post. You sure opened my eyes. There are other types of "inside jobs". One particular type is typically referred to as "pulling a Lewinsky".

This pretty much sums up my thoughts regarding the video. I will be honest, though. At first, the video DID engender my anger towards these men. However, Krieg is right. It's just an honest mistake; when their adrenaline is that high, their judgement can become impaired. Thus, some camera equipment slung over a person's shoulder somehow becomes an RPG (with their perception). If you watch the unedited footage, it appears that they are just doing their routine job. Now, that's not saying that I support this war; I don't.

I say: Collage -- CohlAHge College -- Cohlehj (sort of like Cohledge except without really incorporating a 'd' into the pronunciation) I don't know anyone who speaks proper English and says "It is a honor to meet you." It's always pronounced "It's an honor" because of the vowel sound. (If it bugs you, blame the French.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwrPGxHL_TI Anyway...

Literature
You should be able to find Dante's Divine Comedy at Barnes and Noble bookstores. I have a copy that I bought there a while back; it should be a red hard-back book. Look for it in the discounted section first.

Who says it wasn't a joke? (I'm mostly poking fun at my friend who thinks that they are about to launch an invasion of Iran.)

The people in that footage still pissed me off, they seemed a bit... enthusiastic, to say the least. Sure, it's in the job description that you'll probably kill someone or something to that effect. And yes, accidents do happen. But as laura quoted, some of the things they said make me more and more irritable with each passing moment. And I want to know why they'd fire upon the van, of all things. Well, it just goes to show you why we don't have the Most Professional Army. The majority of our troops in Iraq/Afghanistan are bloody kids! They may do brave things from time to time, but they are NOT to be regarded as brave patriots who are fighting and dying for the freedom of their nation. If they were, they would be fighting the real terrorists --- Congressmen. ;) Of course, my post may seem unfair, but that's just how things are. They don't have a choice whether to go to the Middle East or not, but the vast majority of these kids DO have the choice whether or not to sign up for the US Army/Marines in the first place. A lot of these kids believe that it will be a thrilling experience --- like a video game ---- but they need to pick a new field of work.

When you sign up for the military, a variety of things can happen. Sometimes they send you to military bases around the world (the US has its own bases on virtually every western country, among others) or you could be sent to Iran, Afghanistan, or Iraq. You have no choice. Once you sign up, you effectively sell your soul to the US military --- for a certain amount of time. To be honest, "world peace" is nothing other than wishful thinking. Violence is critical to human evolution and is an innate trait of every human being; it's survival of the fittest. It's unfortunate, but violence will always exist so long as violence can solve our problems. However, with that said, this does not mean that countries should not practice peace and goodwill to all nations; Blessed are the Peacemakers, after all.

I was about to say that. Mistakes happen, even though this one was particularly tragic. Admitting those mistakes is what should be done though, rather than coming up with (lame) excuses. And yea, those soldiers sounded pretty eager to kill. Guess that's why they're soldiers though. I know a kid that's going to Afghanistan this December. He's a private, and he claims that he was told that they were going to launch an invasion of Iran. There are a lot of people like the soldiers in the video in the US army...

'Special Relationship' between the USA and Britain is over
I think this analogy would be better: America's a moody and rebellious teenager, and her mother is Great Britain. The mother forgave America for what she did in the past, and America takes advantage of her mother's love and manipulates her. Canada, America's brother, is a very calm, younger teenager who loves his sister. However, he tries to stick up for Mother and wishes that she would treat her better.

'Special Relationship' between the USA and Britain is over
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGL8CiUtXF0 This video explains some of the problems that the US is facing, as far as the political system is concerned. Here's a video with an example of cultural degradation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYmrg3owTRE EDIT: I was going to try to post some more examples, but that would consume too much valuable time. There are a lot of problems: 1) Political corruption 2) NATO/the United Nations 3) Lowering the educational standard 4) Rampant multi-culturalism that is slowly destroying the remnants of Anglo-American society 5) We are destroying cultures all over the world by trying to influence them and force unwanted political institutions on their societies. 6) Corporatism 7) Bullying our allies 8) The Patriot Act 9) Un-Constitutional laws 10) Currency inflation 11) General ignorance of history and the world outside America I'm sure there are a lot more problems that I could add to the list, but I believe that I have covered some of the major issues.

Odin was the good god, if you want that then you should be son of Hel or Loke. It's obvious that Sons of Odin have always fought each other. However, we can make an alliance. If you accept, my powers are twice as effective against people who do not worship the Norse gods. ;)
